I seem to find that e107 is a pretty damn good content management system. I have used quite a few cms systems, i liked phpnuke but it's just too buggy to do anything real useful in my opinion. I've tried mambo and joomla but couldn't find any good themes even though they were pretty good cms systems. I havn't really tried drupal out (i might actually have but can't remember it) but i've found e107 real easy to use and powerful. Themes are not a problem when it comes to that too.I might try using drupal later but yeah as i said no need for me to change at the moment.-HellFire

Yes this would be another step closer to stop scammers too, even though ebay has some anti scam stuff things like these can often get through. But also there is quite a few private sites that act as a marketplace for selling these types of things, even trading. So yeah i don't think it will stop it completely but it's a step in the right direction.-HellFire

Age Of Empires II (Multi-player Over LAN)
HellFire121 replied to Chesso's topic in Computer Networks
Hmm as far as I can see the easiest way to fix this is to change to a static ip and get the net to work somehow. But if that's impossible the only other advice i can give would be to check their site (if it's even still up) for any patches or documentation. If you have the latest patch you could try to actually run on the original unpatched version. If it still doesn't work check the readme or documentation.-HellFire -
Age Of Empires II (Multi-player Over LAN)
HellFire121 replied to Chesso's topic in Computer Networks
HM-BRazil Owner, whatismyip.com won't work because he is trying to play on a LAN.Chesso did it actually work when you setup a static ip address for both computers? If it did then what i'd do is keep the static ips and try to get your net working. Check your modem/routers configuration page to see if there's any option of changing what ip the computers are running under or something like that. Also when you set static ips do you only lose the net on your computer or the other one too?If it's only your computer check the configuration under the ethernet section, if it's both check both ethernet and usb sections (if the config page has them of course).-HellFire -
Internet Calls: Pc To Phone Suggestion...
HellFire121 replied to Aka_Bar's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I would also prefer skype except in my past experience it was always cutting out and sometimes wouldn't call at all. But i suppose that was a while ago and things always improve.I have seen it when it does work and it does its job incredibly well, also the other factors is how much money you're willing to spend. Personally i think skype is good value for pc to phone calls and it works well without stuff ups.-HellFire -
Awesome thanks, i'll try that now.As for installing phpmyadmin myself i've tried that before and just gave me a bunch of errors for some reason even though it was configured properlyedit: all working, thanksedit2: It seems that i can't enter the default database. If i try to connect with a default schema it will just say that it doesn't exist.

Thanks for you reply, I know that way but i mean is there anyway for them to login to phpmyadmin (/3rdparty/phpMyAdmin/index.php) without going through cpanel because if i try to go there it will prompt me to login. If theres no way to do it can i install anything to get remote access to the databases?Thanks-HellFire

Hi i'm just wondering if it's possible to have another user login to phpmyadmin without sharing my cpanel username and password. The other user is one of the devs on my site and needs mysql access. I can run the commands for him when i am there but when i'm not there what we are working on can get delayed. So basically, can there be more than one user (with different usernames/passwords) login to phpmyadmin without going through cpanelThanks-HellFire

How To Set Up A Dedicated Server Counter-Strike dedicated server setup
HellFire121 replied to DaEmOnFiRe's topic in Software
Does your computer have a static ip Deviling? If so (or if you don't know and want to try this anyway) go to: Start -> run Type in 'cmd' Type ipconfig in the command prompt that pops up and get your ip address. This is the address that you need to forward the ports to. If you find that after you reboot your modem you can't run servers any more do another ipconfig (above) and check to see if your ip is the same. If your ip is different visit: https://portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm it explains how to setup a static ip on your computer. -HellFire -
It could be possible that the mouses optical led is dirty, so first off i'd check if it's clean. You can try blowing hard into it and that should solve it.You say that you tested it with another mouse and it had the same problem. It could also have something to do with your desk or mousepad. Try using the mouse on a different surface and see what happens. If that doesn't work it's possible that there is a process running on your computer that does something at certain intervals and whenever it 'runs' that's when your mouse can freeze. Check your task manager and see if theres any process using quite a bit of cpu usage when it shouldn't be-HellFire

A good gaming sound card is the creative X-FI series, they are a good performer and can actually boost your frame rates a bit because it uses it's own in built x-ram. The x-fi series also supports upto version 5 of advanced EAX high definition and a range of different modes for listening to music or playing games. I've found that here they are pretty cheap for an awesome product. You can check them out more over here: http://de.creative.com/ (I'd recommend you take a look at the xtremegamer or the xtrememusic, both have gaming support) -HellFire

Takumi-san it depends if any other sites link to it etc, but if you make it on freewebs it should be listed in about a week or so.Anyways i wouldn't rely on freewebs at all. In my opinion Xisto is the best free webhosting. For a start look at all the ads on the freewebs pages. Sure it can be easy to use and all but you can actually install site builders on your hosting account here to make it easier. But freewebs is ok just to build very small stuff or things that you won't really care about how it looks.-HellFire

On Site Forum know any good ones?
HellFire121 replied to Aequitas619's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I'm pretty sure you can turn off the image verification somewhere in the SMF administrator section. If you still have no luck you might want to try the other free forum software, phpBB. It looks like version 3 is comming out soon which is a good improvement from the other versions, it is also highly modifiable with thousands of mods you can download and install. Their site is: https://www.phpbb.com/ Though if you are using Xisto hosting you shouldn't really have a problem because they have the GD library installed. -HellFire -
I agree that in the older versions of windows the main cause of the blue screen of death is problems in the registry, maybe because it doesn't delete the keys when programs are uninstalled and things like that (then again windows xp is the same, it won't automatically delete the keys if the uninstaller didn't remove them). The other problems that can cause blue screens of death is drivers. They could cause conflicts or try to do something that is impossible. There are also irq conflicts with devices, they could cause either device not to work or cause a blue screen of death.-HellFire

Need Your Views On This Laptop With The Following Specs ASAP
HellFire121 replied to CaptainRon's topic in Hardware Workshop
I'd say you will need a better 'graphics card'. Take a look at some of the 7 series geforce go cards (http://www.nvidia.com/page/geforcego7.html)As for the cpu, it all depends on what games you play. If a game you play is multithreaded it will benefit greatly from having that extra core but if the game isn't multithreaded then you'd be better off getting just a single core cpu. Also if you tend to do alot of media work such as encoding video, using photoshop etc then you will benefit from a dual core cpu.Basically, find out what types of games you are going to be playing. Are they multithreaded or not? We will probably see more multithreaded games in the future. I would say get a dual core regardless though but you are going to suffer a bit of speed if you get a lower clocked one than a single core cpu.Overall, you need a better video adapter. Cpu won't matter that much in gaming (depends on what games you play again)-HellFire -
It is VERY likely that it's your power supply. On your video card, a 7950GT nvidia recommends a 400 watt power supply. I doubt it is overheating but it could play a part later on when you get a new power supply if you still experience random shut downs or reboots. So i would recommend a 550 watt power supply. It is above nvidia's recommendation and it should be able to power your cpu/graphics/drives effectively plus have plenty of room for expansion. As for the brand, i'd say go with Antec. I've heard very positive comments about Antec and that is what i'm getting for my next power supply (When this generic one dies). What i'd recommend is an Antec truepower 2.0 550 watt It is also SLI ready. -HellFire

When i submitted my site a while ago it took a few weeks. I even tried to use sitemaps to speed it up but i noticed little difference. It did eventually get in there though. The thing is, if you want to get good results out of using google you better make sure your site is optimized and that google is registering the right keywords. -HellFire

Yeah you should get msgplus (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/), it has a load of features that you'll find usefull especially in your situation. You can save logs and have them password protected and encrypted. It also comes with it's own log viewer so it is pretty damn hard to hack into your logs. There is also a boss key mode allowing you to hide windows live messenger and disguise it in your system tray at a touch of a button, when you do this windows messenger can send an auto reply to people that try to talk to you when messengers locked. So in conclusion. To stop people getting into your account and reading logs you can change your password and recovery questions, install messenger plus or make sure that logging is disabled and you delete the logs.-HellFire

Even though vista looks interesting and everything i'm not going to change my xp computer over to vista straight away. First off i don't think you can get the full upgrade version if you are on home edition or professional for windows xp (none of the upgrade paths actually lead to vista ultimate as far as i know) so if you want evey feature of vista you're going to have to go out and buy the full version.Secondly i like the way my files are organised at the moment and i've heard vista includes the dynamic virtual folders and that's going to be the 'default' way of finding and storing your data. I'd prefer the way i have it now just with normal files and folders. Then you've got the system requirements, only thing i'd have to upgrade is my video card and ram if i want to experience the aero theme. (i currently have a 256mb geforce 6600 and 1gb of ram). I would like to see how vista plays with games and stuff, if vista needs alot of resourses and your games do too, wonder what will happen. Vista might just let the game use the resoures or it might share them causing lag.Overall, i like my setup as it is now and i won't be upgrading to vista in a hurry because of price (and lack of upgrades), system requirements and different hard disk structure.-HellFire

How To Get Viewers To My Site ? ??
HellFire121 replied to smyke89's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Basically why would people visit your site if another site has the same thing but better. So yeah as pyost said make your site attractive, neat and up to date providing information and other features (such as forums) to keep your visitors interested.I would say that just one ad would do if you are struggling. Don't you just hate sites that have advertising spam all over it?There's no point using link exchanges because they don't work. Also they are usually poorly designed sites that have taken part in the program. Take this for example. If you went to a poorly designed site, would you look around for a 'links' page or something similar? I personally wouldn't bother.I can also suggest that you look around at sites that are popular, look at what their doing and also look around at sites that aren't doing too well and see what their doing bad. This should give you an idea of what to do and what not to do to make a successful site.-HellFire -
New Worm Spreading Through Skype
HellFire121 replied to miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I used to use skype but i uninstalled it because it didn't seem to be working and also because i had no real serious use for it.If the user has a choice of downloading the 'sp.exe' file then it isn't such a big risk for the people that know what their doing, it's also common sence not to download anything if you don't know who it's from or what it does. Especially if it has a fishy name just like 'sp'.I think skype should have some kind of news ticker or someway to let users know about security risks like this one and what to do. An automated system would be better, denying the transfer of files named sp and keep adding to the list as more known worms and virus' spread.-HellFire -
The Best Browser For General Use List of browsers for PC computers.
HellFire121 replied to sparkx's topic in Software
I also recommend Opera as a main browser, it has everything i need inside it and i usually always keep it open. It's frequent email checks let you know as soon as you have received an email, the download manager is simple to use and also supports torrents. From version 9 opera supports widgets which makes it more customizable. There are thousands of other themes to get if you don't like the default one, you can add your own search engines to the search bar and even give them a nice little keyword which really makes searching easy.I also find opera lightweight (even though at the moment it is using up around 55mb of ram, not that it's a problem ) it starts in seconds and there is no sluggish performance-HellFire -
OpenOffice Writer Vs Microsoft Word Which do you prefer??
HellFire121 replied to beatgammit's topic in Software
I'm currently using microsoft word but not because of my choice, partly because i need the program that can read the .doc formats for work and a program that understands the special features in the doc files. The other reason i'm using microsoft word is because where i work, it is compulsory and they give copies out to their employees for a discounted price, otherwise i wouldn't even bother using it because i know there are other programs that can do the same (or a bit less) with little or no cost.Another reason why i'm sticking with word is because i know how to use it and i know where everything is so there's no need for me to spend time reading the manual or help files etc..I would try Open Office if i ever get linux because word surely doesn't want to work on linux.-HellFire -
I would say not really. It could though if the kids are exposed to violent games at a young age (The parents should be watching what they are playing anyway). As the kids get older they would start to understand that they are only playing a game, not something that they should copy. I'd say after they have been through that they are fine so this shouldn't really be an excuse for crimes. Then you have the addicting side of it, if they don't get enough and all of a sudden they can then it might lead into an addiction. With games like world of warcraft (which i have recently gotten in to) it is pretty damn easy to get addicted to it so you could only imagine what the kids reactions will be-HellFire
