  1. Heh That made me laugh, every computer needs drivers to make it's devices run. How's the computer going to know what language the hardware speaks? Software services too, it is absolutely not just for windows. This guy sounds like a 10 year old kid thats in love with windows, heck vista isn't even that good especially for gaming. -HellFire
  2. That's pretty awesome, didn't know you could do that with the widgets in opera. I'll definately be using this because it's small and gets the job done. Other editors can take a while to start up and use alot more resources but if you need the functionality then you will need to get something better than this widget. That doesn't mean it's bad though if you need the html editing then there you go-HellFire
  3. I might suggest that you go for the home premium edition. I'm not sure about the cost differences but i'm guessing it would be minimal. I know that when i get vista i'm not getting anything below home premium, i need these features. I usually think of home basic a stripped down version of xp whereas home premium is like xp feature wise.-HellFire
  4. One reason i play games is because i have nothing else to do, and playing games is my easiest form of entertainment. Also i am involved in competitive play, i need to play games to help my team win. If it wasn't for competitive play i'd still play games anyway for entertainment. Some games such as world of warcraft are probably the most entertaining games out and you'll have a hard time trying to get off it.-HellFire
  5. Awesome job, i'm sure this will be a lot of help to everyone including me. You might want to add these sites too, some premade php scripts which come in handy: http://php.resourceindex.com/ http://www.scripts.com/ (Also has scripts in other languages) http://www.hotscripts.com/ (Same above) -HellFire
  6. Theres also the possibility that your graphics card doesn't have it's own memory and it needs to dig out of the ram. If this is the case you'll see an option in the bios that allows you to change how much memory it uses. I'm not sure what it's named in the bios because my video card has dedicated ram, but you can try to look for something like agp memory size or shared memory. Otherwise if that doesn't work you will need to check if you actualy got what you payed for.-HellFire
  7. Yeah sorry must've misread your post. You can embed a windows media player into your site by using the following code: <OBJECT id="VIDEO" width="320" height="240" style="position:absolute; left:0;top:0;" CLASSID="CLSID:6BF52A52-394A-11d3-B153-00C04F79FAA6" type="application/x-oleobject"> <PARAM NAME="URL" VALUE="your file or url"> <PARAM NAME="SendPlayStateChangeEvents" VALUE="True"> <PARAM NAME="AutoStart" VALUE="True"> <PARAM name="uiMode" value="none"> <PARAM name="PlayCount" value="9999"></OBJECT> Code thanks to: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ (You can also visit this link for a handy list of parameters) I'd suggest you encode in divx or something like that to get the best quality for lowest space. If you prefer the simple option the youtube way is pretty good but only gives low res videos -HellFire
  8. Same here, i was once a hardcore runescape player but that was when i had a crap computer and didn't have money to blow on MMORPG's. Later on i got into knight online, kind of like runescape but better graphics. I did like runescapes gameplay though compared to knight online.Very recently i got world of warcraft, i have to say if you have the money you should get it. It absolutely kicks all of the other MMORPG games especially runescape. I like the fact that all people need to pay to play it, there is no privelliged members as you see in runescape and stuff, where your play ability is very limited unless you pay.I wouldn't ever go back to runescape now, once you've seen a game you like you probably won't ever go back.-HellFire
  9. Not a bad idea although it would have a fairly limited use in industries revolving around word processing etc. But for things like design and visualisation this thing can be awesome, although i doubt this will be released any time soon since it needs to grab all sorts of info from a program then they need to design the 'printer' to 'make' the 3d shape.-HellFire
  10. For the best video players i guess all of them like winamp and windows media player will do. If you want a very good one i suggest you get one of the dvd theater programs (Most of the time you get something like this free with a part of your pc).In the converting business, i've used winavi with a lot of success. It can convert nearly any file format and even burn onto a cd for you.-HellFire
  11. If/when i get vista i'm almost definately going to have to go with the ultimate version. I need the extra features but it costs quite a bit.The whole vista starter made me laugh, 3 applications at the same time? When computers these days come with like 1gb of RAM. Microsoft are seriously ripping these people off but i guess the only good thing is that people that can't afford even decent machines will be in luck. It's also pretty stupid how none of the upgrade paths from windows xp lead to vista ultimate, the user should get a choice at the very least.-HellFire
  12. I'm happy with getright pro, has nearly everything you could wish for plus it includes some other useful tools. There are simply too many features to explain here but it includes most features found in other downloading programs such as segmented downloading, download sheduling, automatic downloads and a speed limiter. Some other features are podcast downloading and uploading. It also has great integration with all browsers i've tried (IE, firefox even opera).-HellFire
  13. SilverFox you do realise that you're breaking blizzards terms of services, so i'd advise you to stop doing that.Back on topic, i've recently renewed my world of warcraft subscription (it's been a while since i actually have) and it's amazing how much you miss it, all the things you can do plus with the new expansion pack there is just so much you can do even if you've reached the maximum level you won't be bored. It's worth paying for, you don't get the idiots you find on the free MMORPG's plus the game support is so much better. Also there are updates at least once every month always adding new stuff.-HellFire
  14. I think when i submitted some movies i originally recorded them in 800x600 then compressed them into 720x480 (using a low quality codec though, divx didn't want to work) and yeah they get compressed again to youtube or google videos own file format and resolution. As far as i know it would be best to record at decent resolutions so you can still get some detail when it's compressed, just don't compress it to below 640x480 (or whatever the site compresses it to)Some things i've personally noticed is the higher resolution you record in, the end result looks clearer (which makes sence anyway if anyone does graphics here).-HellFire
  15. Good tips there guys, it's wrong in the first place for microsoft to disallow access to your own hard drive (in a way) if your windows copy hasn't been activated. It would be better if we start seeing some of the more advanced features disabled if your windows copy 'expires' in some way. For example you get access to internet explorer, cd burning programs and hard drive access. Other features such as running some programs could be disabled.Seriously microsoft has to do something about this, you never know what kind of things can come up.-HellFire
  16. I just bought my new logitech mouse a few weeks ago, the logitech G5 gaming mouse. All i can say is that it seems perfect, it has one of the best grips i have seen in a while plus with a 2000 dpi and 6 megapixels per second you can reach really high sensitivity levels, speaking of that it has predefined levels of sensitivity when you first get it, 2000, 800 and 400 dpi. You can change them and add more if you wish. Also the mouse comes with a weight control feature. There is a cartridge under the mouse that you can fill with weights (that are included with the mouse) to give the mouse a better feel for you.Nothing much else i need to say but installation was just plug and play (install the stuff off the cd for more advanced options) and it glides very smoothly across nearly every surface (except mirrors).-HellFire
  17. Heh pretty funny, although if that was me and i was annoyed with it i'd just return it and keep the money, then buy it again if an updated version comes out that includes some new drivers so it would have to work.Nice and entertaining video though-HellFire
  18. Pretty strange, i'm on opera here and getting no ads. I think i do recall the popup blocked appearing here and there but i get none of what you're getting. What about trying to view the site in IE (yeah i know it's crap but just to test), if it works fine then i think there might be something wrong with your firefox install/temp files (if thats even possible, no idea). Also, can you view other pages without popups or is it just that page. Because it could be possible that is has something to do with that particular page.On the dialog box it says 'winantispyware.com' so its pretty likely something is linking to it.-HellFire
  19. I only use animation stuff for making things for games. Models and vehicles etc.In the past i've used gmax, 3d studio max and a few others i can't remember. Even though gmax is outdated it does what i need it to do and it also has the plugins needed to get the job done.On the other hand, 3ds max is pretty damn useful. If you've used gmax you will get used to 3ds max easily, because after all gmax is a stripped down version of 3ds max.Anyways yeah 3ds max is pretty damn pricey, tried the demo and i can definately say it's worth it if you are going into professional modeling etc.-HellFire
  20. You do realise that the url points to "http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/;'>http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/; (or as how you linked it in the forum).Guys if you do have a runescape account do not fill this out.It looks like the url is masking the real address, which is: "http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  21. Hmm I think that there is a free version of the invision board (the old version, i think 1.3 or something) but i'm not sure where to get it. You might want to search around for it or something.Otherwise if I were you i'd look at other forum software including phpBB and simple machines forums (SMF). I would go with smf simply because it's easier to use and phpBB has a load of security holes. But if you are going to be modding your forum (heavy modding) then phpBB is the way to go. There are a few mods that fix the holes plus there are millions of mods and skins avaliable, all for free.-HellFire
  22. Yep need more info. What shoutbox is it? Are you running it as a mod for a forum or a site?Anyways i'll help as much as i can by saying read the readme file first. Usually contains alot of info on how to use it etc but most of the time you 'include' the shoutbox file into your php script or something like that depending on what scripting language you are using for your site. Also you might want to check the site, their forum and google. You are bound to find some people with the same problem or don't know how to install it.-HellFire
  23. Damn, that's pretty handy. Especially if you have a slower connection and the pages take a while to load up, even if you're just adding something small. If it even gives reminders for your calendars and stuff like that then i'd be using this thing every day. I'm going to try this now, you'd think that you might need to install a plugin to windows live messenger or something but yeah, pretty amazing.Just added the bot now and it's pretty simple to use, just need to visit a few external pages to setup your account more thoroughly.I can see this service will probably be popular.-HellFire
  24. I think it's a pretty good idea but there is some risks involved, you never know what these things can do to your body but if they somehow get a way for it to work without doing harm then think of the possibilities. It could be a money saver too depending on how much they will cost (no doubt it will probably be expensive) but you will be saving the cost of batteries or saving the cost and trouble of recharging too.-HellFire
  25. I've never actually used gimp, infact i'm still using photoshop cs1. I havn't had the time to upgrade and cs1 does just fine.I'm not exactly sure what features gimp has etc but i know that the photoshop i have does exactly what i need. I usually don't change programs unless something stuffs up or i need other features. So that means i'll be sticking with photoshop cs1 for a while. When i need to change i'll try out gimp and see what its like.-HellFire
