  1. Platform: Windows XP Professional SP3Windows FirewallAvast FREEI've notice for sometime now, that Opera (now using version 12 build 1467) randomly response with this "Error: Connection Closed by Remote Server" when i load a web page... weird thing is, i just click refresh (or his back then click on whatever link i clicked on) and the page load back fine....This happens quite often... but i never experience this on Chrome... I've been using Opera for the last 5 years or so and this started appearing when i was with Opera 11...This doesn't happen on a particular website...Anyone experience this problem?
  2. looking at the latest video on this BB10... it does look nice in its own way... i wouldn't mind owning one, only thing i'm concerned more on is the application side of the BB...
  3. i think an alternative theme can be applied... although i agree with you guys... square tiles are rather boring look... but then its simple though
  4. hehe... i was just curious if theres a run command for firing up Network Properties for a particular connection... instead of the right-clickings which i do as well...
  5. falls between Networking and Windows Command really... so yea i think its appropriate to ask here, just came into my mind when i read the thread... ncpa.cpl gets one to Network Connections... but i would like a run command for getting to a Connections Properties... especially if its only one Network Connection available
  6. what do you mean USB Lan Adaptor? is it Wireless or just a LAN Card on USB? cheers
  7. What kind of connection are you using? Whats the package detail (connection) you are on? and as others mentioned... there's quite a lot of speed test sites/tools available online that you can you to check if it is your ISP... otherwise there must be some sort of service gobbling up your bandwidth
  8. Very likely your Linux Gateway box is struggling to keep up with demands on peak usage (when all clients are surfing the web)... what's the Linux system spec (hardware)?
  9. Firewall settings can usually mess with your file sharing capabilities... Windows XP Family OS usually can easily do file/folder sharing by default... this is because there is a shared folder (by default) already on your Documents folder... Now if you want to specify particular folder for each machine, just create them and Name them Folder-Machine-Blahblah and enable its sharingAlso make sure your machines are on the same Network Group - this is very important because certain firewalls will not allow sharing with other Network Groups (although can be altered on settings)I've had these issues on my home network (3 Laptops and 3 PCs) but a bit more complicated because i was dealing with Windows XP - Windows Vista - Windows 7 - Linuxbut Firewalls gave me some serious headaches over it...
  10. has anyone tried installing this preview? i've yet to do so but have done on VM and it is quite laggy.... compared to other OSes
  11. awesome thanks... now i'm wondering if anyone knows how to get to a network connection property - i mean instead of typing ncpa.cpl then right click on network connection to view properties... is there a run command for it? cheers
  12. Comodo with Avast is a very common and Popular combination... highly recommended
  13. sounds pretty bad... hope you get your issues sorted... i'll have to think twice now before making any Netgear purchases in the future
  14. Current Platform: Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP3Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3hIntel G620 2.664GB DDR3640 SATA HDD460W Vantec ION2 PSUGEFORCE 9600GT 512MB DDR3 [Galaxy Silent Edition]I'm thinking of upgrading my Graphics card with a budget of ~$150 - $200 (NZD), considering that i'm pretty happy with the 0 noise level of my current 9600GT i am looking into a passive cooled upgrade... I'm looking at a HD 7750 Sapphire Ultimate Edition (~ $190 NZD), would this be a good upgrade? Or would the CPU be too weak to match with the card? Any suggestion on a better cheaper price/performance option? cheers
  15. Software Platform: Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP3 (+ latest updates) Hardware Specification: Intel G620 2.66GHz Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H Galaxy Geforce 9600GT 512MB I have installed Realtek Audio Driver from Gigabyte Website and there is sound but i always get the "found new hardware prompt" on startup... on Device manager i get the yellow question mark under other devices with these details: General: Location 65535 (Internal High Definition Audio Bus)This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1) Details: HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8086&DEV_2806&SUBSYS_80860101&..... i tried googling Vendor 8086 & Device 2806 with no luck... Help please...
  16. OS: Windows XP ProI'm wondering if anyone can give me a quick guide on how to create a custome screen saver on Windows XP, this will be a picture slide show but instead of one folder (Default), i want the screen saver to run a number of folders from different partitions...i've tried creating shortcuts to each folder and placing them on My Documents/My Pictures but it isn't working, it does work on Linux though...

  21. Windows XP Professional (32bit) I've swapped my E8400/2x2GB DDR2 with a Sandy Bridge G620 (2.6GHz)/ASUS P8H61-M LX and a single module 4GB DDR3 RAMWhen i was using my E8400 (with two 2GB DDR2 modules), XP reports a 3.2GB or RAM... but now with Sandy Bridge, i get only 2.99GBdoes this extra 0.2GB seen on my previous machine has anything to do with dual channel?
  22. check you're Router's Firewall and Security settings, check your two Hosts (PCs) Firewall Settings as well... If both can see each other but can't access then it's very likely a firewall issue
