  1. Wow, this is weird. I never knew that if you had a folder named this it would run by the view source. After all, view source just opens up the html page using the notepad program which defaultly comes with the windows operating system. Hmmmmm, maybe it could've been a mistake whereby it looks for anything called notepad on the desktop for those people who move it from its default directory? As said above though, it's more likely to be programmers being bored being creative.Anyhow, I don't believe this is a virus vulnerability, as there isn't anything major you can do, or display, it just opens a file which you'd obviously see as soon as you go to your desktop, i.e. when first booting up your computer.I wonder what else microsoft have embedded in their code
  2. YEp, i agree with goldenarrow here. The site you've just mentioned sounds absoluted great, but does it really function as well as liked?I'd trust Norton a lot more this site I'm afraid. I've heard of Norton a lot, but this site. Now is the first time i've heard of it, it's just as likely to produce hundreds of thousands of viruses or adverts on my computer.I'm sure it wouldn't, but I can't be too careful.Sorry. Anyway, thanks for distributing, I'm sure if it's good, it will get the necessary feedback. You never know, I may even download it, when the time arises that it's popular.
  3. I agree with a couple of others users regarding this matter.I'm not into any of this fancy posh stuff. Although i guess it's really good value and the people that are into flash will like it.I personally, prefer using the basic 'normal' web-based email like hotmail or gmail, although prefer gmail.Maybe when this becomes more popular, I will change my mind, but I'm really not into flash anyway. Does sound good nevertheless. Thanks for showing us the site anyway. Some people will love this! Notice from mayank: Edited as reported.
  4. Nice tutorial about changing the oil in a vehicle. Will definitely help in the near future! As for dumping underneath someone else's car. What good will this do? Will just make someone else think that they have got an oil leak from their vehicle. It's best to dispose as mentioned above. Then you can't get in trouble for not disposing correctly.Anyway, keep the tutorials coming! They're good and helpful!
  5. yep, like jlhaslip said, it's very complicated for scientists to predict natural hazards such as earthquakes and volcanoes. It's kinda like the weather. Here, in England, whenever they say it's gonna snow, it always appears to pour hard with rain. This is because the wind pressures and the direction of the wind influences the conditions experienced. This is a similar case with the earthquakes. No-one, not even scientists, are fully aware what's going on with the magma deep underground. Therefore, it is incredibly difficult to predict whether shockwaves will be sent around the surface of the Earth. With the modern age of technology (The technological revolution) more precise means of prediction have been necessary, although these still aren't as good as we would like them to be.Like jhaslip said above. Remain calm. THere's a high chance you won't even feel a minute vibration. Unfortunately, there's still a chance it could happen. At the end of the day though, natural hazards are natural.Natural = life - Without nature, the life simply wouldn't exist as we know it today. Just relax and enjoy yourself!!(Hope this helps anyway:))
  6. I have reasons for being both for and against the cloning. It can help in matters like replacing someone's kidneys without the need of spending too much time and effort in repairing, when usually this is not possible in the first place. However, I don't feel it's right that we should be cloning a real human. If we clone a person, then it's like having multiple people of the same person and soul. It'd be just like those programs that show on the television, whereby a scientist or character gets cloned and causes havoc. It would just be so unrealistic and cause shock. All things have bad side-effects as well as the good. These are my opinions anyway.
  7. Hmmmm, meta tags are handy, especially for the search engines which actually do use them. However, there's an increasing numbers of search engines which no longer use them. I've heard that google doesn't use these anymore (it may have been posted on a similar thread on this website.)IF you do use meta tags, you willl have a more advanced description of your website on the search engine's server, meaning that you kinda filter the search results and hence get more traffic. That about google may not have been right, but I'm sure it is. Hope this helps nevertheless.
  8. I use an IDE called bluej. I find this simple to use. I don't know the exact website address for it, but google should be able to help anyway! On this IDE, You can actually run applets from one of the integrated plugins.I've also used eclipse and netbeans, although found these hard to use.Hope this helps.
  9. I don't think this is the problem in this case, it's most likely to be a problem due to the way your computer and your laptop's connected + wires + routers etc. BUT... I've known people in the past, who've experienced problems along these lines either because their internet router accessibility browsing settings are incorrect (i.e. maybe a certain site, service or port is blocked) or quite simply, the computer is blocking something, although I can't see why the others would work. Best thing to do, would be to log into your wireless router (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ or http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Or any other ip your router could've taken.). If you could give more information though, it may help. At the moment, these are the only *General* things i can think of. Hope this helps
  10. In my website, i gave up with standard frames because in my opinion, they looked pretty ugly and most web-authoring programs nowadays include framed pages as part of their standard templates, hence meaning users think you're just using a template rather than actually going ahead and creating the website yourself.I have, in the past, used IFrames, still based along the idea of frames, although they allow you to place frames almost anywhere on your webpage, meaning you don't have to worry about loads and loads of code.Only problem with frames, or anything relating to frames, is that not all internet browsers support these (yet). It's best to use php when at all possible. Even WebTV, a prime example of a basic browser, can access the php and perform the functions. If you can't use php, try to use tables in html!Hope this helps
  11. lol, It's a shame google don't create a page for every search terms spelt correctly. This was interesting to read, although suppose it could get into a little bother with privacy etc?Anyhow, I agree, it's not a hard spelling, but some people still have a few problems which makes spellings etc extremely difficult for them.
  12. yep, wifi comes in very handy. Saves the need of using loads and loads of unnecessary cables. However, it may not be worth the money if you're happy with your existing camera. As believer rightly said, they're the same that you can buy in the shops, except without the additional wireless connection functionality.Anyhow, It's nice to see how the market is improving nowadays! They'll be having wireless clock radios next, that's if they're not already out - getting a bit behind with times. This is my opinion anyway!
  13. yuck. Playstation always was more popular than the XBox company, even back in the days of the original xbox when playstation's all contained memory cards. At a guess, I'd guess it's the simulation of the system which impresses a wider audience, although personally, I prefer xbox.Anyhow, I agree, It's stupid if they're not launching halo on the system. That's microsoft for ya
  14. this Windows live program looks good. Maybe once the final version is out, then they won't force you to use that email address? It's just gonna overwrite the current msn messenger version?Anyhow, when It's out, I'm all up for trying it. It's always nice to stay modern
  15. Ah. I take it pokemon are now back into the fashion, where everybody is with the trading any time they can and playing the game on their game boys?It did go out of fashion for a little bit, beyblades or something? I'm totally unsure of what the fashion is now, but pleased to see pokemon's come back.I remember playing the game when I first joined my secondary school a few years ago. Pikachu was my favourite :)Even today, Me amd my friend have got a few cards and we decided to dig out/ play the game boy game. None of us can work out how to get pikachu though, he appears to be in some kind of tunnel. If anyone knows how to get pikachu on any of the game boy pokemon games, we'd be very grateful, we never grow up hehe
  16. Many people argue the fact that ie is more vulnerable to exploits than mozilla, although this just proves that they both have their downsides.I use internet explorer the most cos it comes with the system and find it a lot quicker to load than mozilla which hogs my cpu. Thanks for the upgrade anyway, I've patched my firefox version.
  17. My favourite map just has to be Toys Story, on UT2004, although I kind of like many of the default maps. I used to play online quite a bit, but don't have as much time nowadays.Nevertheless, I still play a bit, invasion mainly.
  18. Haha, what is the world coming to nowadays! Let's all name our children by the names of famous search engines or computer names. You could just imagine it when this Google kid is at school in Drama or performing arts."Come on everybody, look at Google".They'd probably all go for the nearest computer with internet access Anyway, enough of the jokes. I just think some of the names nowadays are unbelievable. This is only my opinion though .
  19. Thanks for this tip. This now means that when I try to revert to a backup, which I place in a zip package, I no longer need to wait about ten minutes before everything's online as it's meant to be!Wow, i should've picked up on this one before hearing it on the forums. Thanks for your help. If you've anymore tips, please post them, they're extremely helpful
  20. Hey. Thanks for informing us about this stats script. I may try it, although there's a few other decent statistics programs out there. Thanks for sharing anyhow
  21. Yep. I also have a friend who plays runescape a lot and is always telling me to see him on one of the world's, but when i get on there, i find it pretty tedious. In my eyes, I see it that all you have to do is wonder around these fantasy areas and collect various things, i prefer more of the action type games.
  22. hey, that's a nice long poem. It may not get you very far in the way that computers are concerned, but hey, it certainly proves that you have an extra-ordinary talent in the field of English/Poetry.I can't even write a poem that's as good as that.Keep the poems coming, was a great poem to read (well, i thought so anyway )
  23. ah, come on, things are getting silly now in the world of technology. What's with all these cheap fake phone gimmicks? naff cameras and cheap razors. The idea of mobile phones were quick means of communication between one another. They were never designed for all the stuff existent nowadays.I don't agree with this, and feel they should concentrate on a cheaper pay scheme, rather than gimmicks which are not worth bothering with. These are only my personal opinions though!
  24. I've heard of this program before, but never actually seen it myself. I might download this to see what all the fuss is about. It sounds good anyhow, and I'm sure it is. Google's stuff is always usually quite good!
  25. hey, nice tutorial, a shame there's not any images with the steps, or image thumbnails so the dumber users, like myself, can understand this double dutch :PLooks good nevertheless. Thanks for sharing
