  1. This article about creating a pocket super nintendo sounds quite interesting but i'd imagine it is very hard for someone to actually build. I certainly can't think of anyone I know who would spend time and effort on trying to think how they would go about making one.I agree with TheArrow's post above. Even if someone did manage to successfully build one of these pocket SNES' they would be reusing another firm's components, such as Sony (With their playstation systems) in order to make something new, a product which for all they know could be a rival. So Sony wouldn't allow you to do this, i doubt Nintendo are very keen as well. At the end of the day, they like to build up their own reputation and make their own console systems.I guess it would be quite nice though, to see one of these pocket super nintendo's actually made up. It's nice to have something different, such as a console the size of a gameboy with the features and functions of Nintendo and Playstation.
  2. Wow, this is quite a long list. Most of the games i haven't heard of, however, there are a couple of sites listed on there that I have heard of and/or played. If I get bored, I'll most probably come to this topic and try a couple of the different games that are on the list. Thanks for sharing the long list of different game sites with us
  3. If I'm correct, this isn't the first time this team have been penalized for ball tampering. Isn't this the team that's been caught quite a few times?Anyway, even if they did cheat, I can't see why they didn't just carry on with the game and England appeal for cheating at the end if they lose. This would have given entertainment to those people who paid all that money to watch the cricket at the stadium and entertain those who were watching the match at home on their television sets. It's a shame that teams have the need to cheat. As the saying goes, when you cheat, you only cheat yourselves. A game is supposed to be just that, something you play for fun. If you cheat, you're taking the fun out of it, especially for the other team.It would be great if all teams could just put their differences behind them and just get on with one another.
  4. Thanks for posting this information about C and C++ programming.I was trying to learn these two languages but was finding some parts a little difficult. This topic has helped out a little bit by explaining the functions etc in more detail.Hopefully i'll be able to go back to programming finding it a little easier now I've read this
  5. I haven't got a phone or any device that is bluetooth compatible although have seen a friend use bluetooth before on his mobile phone and thought it looked quite good. When I next buy a phone I will probably buy one that supports bluetooth. Bluetooth seems to be a good way to connect to other mobiles. Thanks for sharing this information on bluetooth. I'd heard of it, but didn't actually know how it worked / technical information about it. This topic quoted interesting information.
  6. I feel that when the most users online amount was set, it must have just been a coincidence that everybody was online typing at the same time.It has been saying the same amount for quite a while now, but the number of users active on any website has times when it's pretty inactive as far as websites go and times when it's more active, when there's lots of things happening. I feel the past few months haven't been as good as shown by the fact that there hasn't been as many users online at the same time. However, as said, all sites have good times and bad times, now the site's had a pretty bad time for users being online, it may now go dramatically uphill and this number may even have increased by this time next year.I guess only time will tell and guess we will find out whether this site will get busier again in the near future.
  7. As I said in this other thread here, I don't understand why scientists need to mess around bothering about whether pluto is a planet or whether it isn't. It's quite a long way away, that it's hard to determine whether it's a planet or not as even the modern technology isn't really good enough to be able to measure the size etc. For simplicity sake, I feel planets shouldn't be able to be changed just by a couple of astronomers. There should have been more discussion on the topic rather than just hearing it's been changed. Lots of children are now having to be retaught the planets and/or told that pluto no longer exists. However, I guess this may be for the best, as it's ensuring that children are being educated and taught the most correct information. Ah well, I guess Pluto is still something out there in space that we're aware of, even if it's no longer classed as a planet.
  8. Well, topics similar to this one have been discussed many times. I don't know whether we'll ever get to find out whether or not other planets have any kind of life, but I wouldn't mind betting that that even some of the nearest planets, such as Mars and Venus (Probably not venus as it's closer to the sun, so might be quite hot) may have some kind of life.I agree with what is said in the above posts, there are millions of different stars, planets and galaxies out there. Obviously, a lot of them are pretty much dead and haven't got the correct conditions for a living thing to be able to live.Maybe when scientists are investigating other planets and sending space shuttles to them, they might accidentally discover some form of life. This would be on the news I guess, so we'd find out if there was some kind of life. Space is such an interesting topic to discuss and think about. If galaxies and planets etc didn't exist, we wouldn't exist, so we wouldn't be here to speak.
  9. I personally can't see how after all these years, a couple of astronomers have the power to announce pluto not a planet.I agree with a couple of the above posts, pluto in my opinion still is a planet. It's just so far away that scientists didn't want to bother with it and declared it as not a planet. It really is a shame that the children have to learn from changing text books and some people thinking that pluto is a planet and others not. I don't know why they didn't just keep it marked down as a planet. It certainly would have made life a lot easier and saved the bother of remembering which planet's been lost.I guess, at the end of the day, that it's up to the scientists to decide which planets belong in the solar system though.
  10. I find it fascinating how the internet's as clever and popular as it is now. I like the internet, but feel it would be interesting if it was like taken down for a week or two. It would allow us to see how the internet changes our livesThe internet is a new form of communicating with other people in the world. Without the internet, we are stuck to communicating with people living in our local area, using the old fashioned communication techniques such as telephone, fax and talking. We certainly wouldn't be able to meet / talk to new people anywhere in the world.
  11. I haven't heard of a such a virus that does damage to hardware. However, have you tried booting the computer up in safe mode (pressing F8 whilst booting up) and then running a virus scan in safe mode?Safe mode basically only opens the system files a computer needs to use to run. Safe mode doesn't load up the additional files on boot like normal windows does.I hope you manage to fix it in the very near future
  12. I agree with the previous posts written in this topic. As I said in the topic about the 1TB of email space, I feel that these sites claiming to offer a huge amount of space are just sites that are using a shared server or two hoping that the users never reach that amount of space and hoping that they would never find out that they're not telling the truth.I personally wouldn't ever need a 30gb email account as I don't send a lot of emails. I also don't really like the sound of this site. It sounds like you've got no privacy (the site reads your emails) and then it sounds like you are unable to organize the messages your account has.Additionally, it's not only the emails you are unable to manage, it seems that a few of the users have problems with their account not logging in and being unable to contact the site's support. In my opinion, if a site doesn't have the decency to provide a valid and regularly viewed email address, then that particular site doesn't deserve to have the users. If anything went wrong, you'd have no one to turn to.This is my opinion anyway. I feel strongly against these scam sites claiming to offer huge amounts of space.
  13. It's good how google are getting in and starting to create some programs of their own.If google were main sponsors of open office and then they go out and create their own, that would mean that open office and google would then be rivals and would be battling it out to see which one would come out on top. I bet, of course, that it would be google as over the last couple of years, they've managed to build themselves such a reputation, that every person who has the internet has heard of them. This Google Office should be good. Many people need office programs to produce various letters or other documents. Quite a few people want something cheap and cheerful. Google would be ideal and I bet that if Google were the owners, it would be good quality as everything google creates tends to be rather professional.
  14. I like cheese aswell. I like adding tomato ketchup or pickle to it and putting it inside a sandwich or bread roll. It is also a nice addition to a salad. It's a shame that it's not very good for your arteries and makes you fat. I guess in small quantities, it can be fine as it contains the minerals needed for a balanced diet.Wouldn't it just be great if carrots, broccoli and cabbage etc were bad for you and cheese, chocolate, crisps etc good for you? I'd much rather have chocolate, crisps, cheese and other foods like these apart from vegetables.
  15. A great tutorial there shadowx. This will most certainly help those who are moderately new to computers and need to know what they need to do when they have infected folders/files or this tutorial will also help the readers to understand what they can do to help prevent viruses/spyware/adware/worms etc from entering the computer. It all comes down to the anti-virus program and the firewall installed I feel. I wouldn't recommend going on the internet and finding any random programs for security, as most of the time, these programs are useless. There are a couple of exceptions though, avg, antivir and avast, although I've never used these programs so I'm not sure whether they are any good. For firewall, I'd recommend using ZoneAlarm, as I've heard from a numerous amount of people that it's found someone trying to connect to their computer and blocked the attempt. I've never heard of a problem with ZoneAlarm apart from the possibility of a conflict when working along side other firewalls. There is also a Windows firewall on Windows XP. Every little bit of protection helps.Basically, if you follow the tutorial and get good antivirus and firewall etc, then you are doing your best for your computer and are less likely to get severely infected files which bombard you with adverts or change the way your computer runs.Hope this helps.
  16. I haven't heard of a programming language called autoit before. Also, as it doesn't support many of the Windows operating systems, I don't think i'll bother learning it. I think i'll stick with C or c++ for now.Anyway, thanks for sharing, is always interesting to know of different programming languages you've never heard of before!
  17. I hadn't even heard of this until I just read this thread. I agree with Angel's post above, I don't know why people couldn't just get on with life and accept that they're the correct gender that they were supposed to be (the gender which nature chose).
  18. This is one of the major problems with the new technology, cost. If only these kinds of things weren't that expensive, many people would be using systems like the ps3 which are really expensive.I'm sure the prices will go down eventually though, once new products are out. I think it's probably just the manufacturers trying to snatch money.
  19. I agree with the first post on this thread. It is amazing how technology is evolved like it has.I, also, wouldn't have believed that something like an ipod would have existed a few years ago. Now though, there are all kinds of music players and walkmans available.I feel that the ipod, camera and cellphone all in one would be available easily within the next few years. I'm sure this wouldn't be all that was included. At the rate the technology is currently improving, this is pretty basic. We'll soon have robots running around and doing our washing up and other household tasks. The only thing that could affect how many people have these new forms of technology is cost. At first, when things first come out, shops and the manufacturers charge as much as they can in the hope that they get a lot of money from new products they've just invented.I suppose only time will tell though. Will be interesting to see which way technology will go next.
  20. I agree with what sprnknwn said, you need to ensure that the meta tags are accurate and then submit to the various search engines. It's also helpful if you submit your site to an open directory, such as dmoz.org, as many of the search engines go to these sites and will find your site through such directories.Once your site is on the search engines, you will have random people coming by searching the search engine (you can specify which keywords find your site in the meta tags). It's not only search engines which can attract users to your website. There's also various blogs and forums around the internet. If you manage to advertise your website on these forums, the search engines and the users/bots viewing the forum page will be linked to your website. People would then be able to find your site on google through that forum page.I'm not sure on topsites, some people say they work, some people don't. I haven't really used them, but on the couple of occasions that I have, I've found that they don't really work very well.Hope this helps.
  21. It seems that none of you use paint. I'll have to be a bit different here and confess that i'm one of the people in the small minority that still does use it. I use it for the simple reason being that I don't really do a lot of imaging, I only ever take a screenshot or two or want to load something up really quick. The other programs seem to take quite a while before they load up. I find that Microsoft Paint seems to load straight away. Also, Paint must be the simplest program to use. I can't really see why you would want an alternative. I know Paint isn't the best, but I find that once you get used to it, it's great and you don't really need anything better. However, I suppose that if you're an imager and that's what you do professionally, I'd guess you'd want to go for a program like Photoshop that allows you to add effects to your images.I haven't tried the alternative Paint program and don't really have a need to, but if I ever do need an alternative to Paint, then I will come back to this thread and download that program
  22. Wow, I've never even heard of these types of numbers before and didn't know that there was a special type of number for 103 zeros. I assumed there'd be a type for 100 though, as it's a well rounded number.I don't think we'll ever need to use them in our lifetimes and feel that if we did, it'd be too complicated and we'd have to write everything in standard form (1 x 10^103) otherwise we'd run out of space on the paper or where-ever it was we were going to write it.However, maybe in the future, there will be a need. For example, there may be new forms of technology available which have this amount of space or memory.
  23. A great tutorial. It's always nice to have the ability to be able to keep control of the bandwidth without using the cpanel hotlink protection, whether it be because the server doesn't support it (this certainly isn't the case with Xisto) or because for whatever reason the user doesn't want to bother with hotlink protection (I don't really know why this would be the case though). If I ever end up without a hotlink protection in a cpanel, I will almost certainly use this code for the htaccess, as it will ensure that no-one else can consume all of my bandwidth. Thanks for sharing.
  24. I'm not really into podcasting and will probably never do it, but as bucksta rightly said, this looks like a very good tutorial, especially for those people who fancy podcasting, but don't know how to.
  25. I don't think i'll ever bother with making a web browser, but this is a very nice tutorial and should certainly help other people who really do want to create their own kind of web browser.I know it's only really another version of internet explorer, but the satisfaction of having a fully working code you've typed in yourself is great.
