  1. Yes, it seems my original application might have 'got lost in the mail'. Anyway, someone suggested I should apply again, so here it is.
  2. I'll battle with you, here's my entry. May the best sig win!
  3. Real Name (optional): Brett MSN: N/A AIM: N/A YIM: mudman003 Email: mudmall@mudmall.com Experience in graphics: Making web graphics for over 10 years, fairly new to sigs and photoshop Areas of expertise: animation, grunge and abstract sigs Other graphics sites worked at(optional): N/A Past positions at other graphics sites(optional): N/A Current positions at other graphics sites(optional): N/A How much you can be on each day: At least 2 hours How many templates/sigs/resources could you make a week: 5 or 6 Examples of your work: See my Xisto Gallery for more examples
  4. I have been experimenting with tech borders, here is a double layer one, (triple layer if you include the small white lines). I know some people don't like them but I think they are one of my weaker points so I figure I need the practice. R&C please The symbol is apparently the Katakana symbol for A... "A" for Avalon
  5. Please accept my apologies for assuming, it just seemed so out of character for Opaque. Don't get me wrong, I'm not offened by the title, it just doesn't seem very professional to me.
  6. I think this is something like what you're looking for... each bar is 3 different images. edit: added different style
  7. Well I certainly think it is a step in the wrong direction. I thought he was trying to keep a high standard for the forums, no spam posts, quality posts and all the rest. A forum name like that does not convey that sort of message at all.
  8. Xisto - Web Hosting.com, (the same as computing-web-hosting.com) and Xisto are both part of the Xisto Corporation and share some of the same admin staff. Xisto does not provide paid hosting, this is what Xisto - Web Hosting.com is for, it is the Xisto Corporation's paid hosting provider.
  9. I think it is safe to say the forum has been hacked. I can't see OpaQue allowing something like this, he is much more professional than that.
  10. This is not really the place to post this, a moderator might move it to a more suitable forum. Nevertheless, here is the information you want. There is only 1 place you need to go! http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ They have a range of plans that are sure to suit your requirements. For example, for $3.33 per month you can get 2.1gb of space with 33.3gb bandwidth. The features offered with their plans are far too numerous to list here, go and look for yourself, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
  11. Albus, your quality of work has increased dramatically in the short time you have been making sigs! I like the second sig better mainly due to text placement. It is good to see you are taking things one thing at a time but every sig needs a border, even if only a 1 pixel black or white border. If you run through the check list that Johnny provided in an earlier post and concentrate on one aspect of the sig at time, it will all come together for you. Nice work. 7/10 from me.
  12. Sorry Kubi, I have agree with everyone else on this one. Mike's sig just seems less cluttered, easier to look at and think the blue flash thing works well with the render. Kubi, I can see you have tried something different with the tech border but I don't think it worked this time. Your background seems too cluttered and makes it hard to see the render itself. My vote goes to Mike.
  13. My reasoning is this; the reason we and all other life is put on earth is to reproduce and evolve. When you think about it, this is exactly what your grandfather has done, by the mere fact that he is your grandfather. I would also suggest that you have adapted to this modern world better than he has, therefore you have 'evolved'.There is not much that can be said to help the grieving process, it something we all have to work through at some stage in our life. I think the best thing to do is to remember the good times you had together, I suspect your recent vacation was one of them and don't forget him. He will always be there in your heart and things he has said or did will no doubt spring to mind to remind you of him. This can happen at the strangest times from many different things, a smell or the sound of a voice or perhaps going to a place where your shared some happy times together. My thoughts are with you and your family.
  14. There are several 'sig rotators' available here on the Xisto forums, here are some of them. http://forums.xisto.com/topic/24925-how-to-make-a-sig-rotator-for-people-with-multiple-sigs/ http://forums.xisto.com/topic/24925-how-to-make-a-sig-rotator-for-people-with-multiple-sigs/page-4#entry189391 http://forums.xisto.com/topic/27918-the-best-sig-rotation-script-yet-only-9-lines-of-code/ Each have their own pros and cons, decide for yourself which one you want to use.
  15. saga, you hit the nail right on the head. The reason to enter these competitions, (besides wanting to win) is to learn from the experience. I'll let you in on a little secret, (well not so secret, as I had to tell some people so they would understand why I started the battle), I never intended to post an entry. I wanted two new sig makers to go head to head, hence why I made it a '3 way battle'. I thought it would be unlikely that a new sig maker would start a battle by themselves, so I decided 'a little push' was needed. And now Albus has realised that these competitions can be fun and has entered SOTW #30, you should too. You have talent, it just needs refining and that is what these competitions will do for you. SOTW has improved my graphic abilities to no end, as you have pointed out, the feedback given during these competitions teaches you a lot.It can be surprising, sigs of mine that I did not think were that good have won SOTW, it's all a matter of what other people see in what you have made. A classic example of that is the recent battle I had with Saint Michael, I personally thought his sig was much better than mine, yet mine was voted the winner. If I had to vote on the 2 sigs at the time, I would have voted for his over mine without hesitation.Don't be afraid to step up and 'have a go', (as we Aussies like to say) the results may surprise you!
  16. Oh yes, the winner receives a TAB... and here it is! Display it with pride Albus.
  17. My vote went to Razor. Truefusion: The border and layout of the sig is original, but the sig itself seems to lack depth. The renders and backgrounds look flat, lacking contrast. Razor: Great use of lighting and text, something really different. Looks like an alien planet or something. Se?or Maniac: The background is too dark on the grunge side and there appears to be little if any blending of the render. Mayank: Both backgounds appear to be pretty much grunge. I like the dots and text layout, but the text seems a little hard to read. Perhaps the narrow font is the problem? Saint Michael: This looked like it was going to be a really nice sig with the mosaic work and scan lines. But unfortunately, I think the white grunge is too much. It obscures the render rather than blending with it because it is too heavy and spoils the whole thing for me.
  18. Battle over! Albus Dumbledore wins, 4 votes to 3. Both entries were very good, this was clearly evident by the closeness of the vote tally. I hope to see more work from you two in the future, as I'm sure everyone here does too. Well done to both of you! And to save everyone scrolling back up to the top to see the winning sig, here it is.
  19. I made all of it except the render, the burnt edges are done with a filter I have. I used that render because I didn't want to pick between the 2 actors that have played Albus Dumbledore in the HP movies.
  20. Yes you can access cpanel before domain propagation. Just type the URL of http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ and you will be presented with the login window.
  21. AD's sig, while the background has a nice 'smokey' look, I think there is too much of it visible. Saga on the other hand, solved this problem with the additional use of the render. I like saga's background too, it looks like the face is emerging from the fire. saga gets my vote. Good work both of you, with more practice you will be amazed how much your work will improve.
  22. Hey thanks Johnny! Very nice, Mario is always cool.
  23. I have decided to forfeit my entry in this battle to allow Albus Dumbledore and saga to go head to head. Please go to the voting post and show your support for these 2 new sig designers. Do not post your vote here.
  24. This battle will be the best of 7 votes. The only requirements for the battle was the render to be used and the size of the sig. Please cast your vote and your comments about the sigs here. Albus Dumbledore saga Albus Dumbledore 0 saga 0 Please include the current score with your vote post.
  25. Here's my entry, I thought I'd try the ice theme... it looks so cool. (pun intended)
