A pink hitman sig?!? Nah... it's just not right. I also agree the render os too dark, While I gather it's meant to be dark, some face detail would be good. As for the text, I think it needs some work, especially your name.
-
Here's my entry, good luck everyone.
-
Mike, I think you're overdoing it with the glow in your latest sigs. The glow seems to override everything else in the sig and makes it lose detail, so all the eye can focus on is this white blob. In my opinion, (for what it counts) a glow should be just that, a subtle glow, not an eye piercing, white hot looking glare. Turn down the lights man, you're blinding me!

I'm not a big user of these online money making sites but think your idea is worth thinking about. Referral links are currently not permitted anywhere on these forums but I think there could be an exception in this topic. People are providing other members with information that could make them a lot of money, why shouldn't they be rewarded by allowing them to use referral links. Obviously it is totally the decision of the admin and everyone should abide by that decision.

Should Trap17 Have Dedicated Banner Exchange Program?
Avalon replied to BuffaloHelp's topic in Online Advertising
If you're not concerned with providing banner display and click statistics then I think you could do it without a database. I just provide it as a service to my members and to help me learn more about PHP and mySQL. I'm not keen on the auto-change of banners however, a slow loading page could mean a banner does not get displayed because it has timed out before the page is loaded. Also, with some banners it takes a bit of time to digest what the banner is about. I don't think categories are necessary unless you are trying to target certain types of banners to certain types of sites. This will be provided as free service, no need to make it more complicated than necessary. <_<I think you should also set a limit on the file size of the banners, this way people with dial-up connections will also see the banners. -
Voting Albus Vs. Zabb Animation Round 2
Avalon replied to Zabb's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I'm going with Zabb for this one. The water animation is quite well done and I think looks pretty realistic. The border should have gone over her hair though, it looks out of place as it is.Albus, you need to put more frames in your animations so it looks smoother and a background would have been good too. I assume "Big Red" is another nick-name you go by as you have used it a few times. Perhaps it would have been an idea to give the render red hair so it fits with the name.Zabb [1]Albus [1] -
So which one is to be your entry? You can't enter both, even if we don't have many entries this time.

Here are the tabs for the winners of SOTW #34 & SOTW #35. Congratulations!

I too like Maniac's the best, (aside from my own of course ). I love the render and although the brushing is probably more fractal than abstract, I like it.

Only 3 entries? Come on folks, we need more entries... Don't be shy now.

Why Spam Is Spreading Through My Domain Email
Avalon replied to itssami's topic in Web Hosting Support
OK, if it's not a virus then it's probably what others are saying here. A bot has picked up your email address from the internet somewhere. I have some concerns about the 'blacklist' itself, it may not be anything to worry about.Perhaps you can explain how this 'blacklist' works. My domain, (mudmall.com) is apparently also blacklisted. However, when I go to the "Blacklist Details" it shows a completely different domain as the culprit, (crystalsystemsanalysis.com). In fact, it shows exactly the same details as the link you have provided. Therefore, why does my domain, (and yours) show as blacklisted in domaintools.com? I'm confused. Perhaps there is something wrong with the blacklist? What exactly does it mean to be 'blacklisted' anyway? What effect does it have? -
Should Trap17 Have Dedicated Banner Exchange Program?
Avalon replied to BuffaloHelp's topic in Online Advertising
I totally agree with the idea! I made a free banner rotation system for my site that already includes 2 Xisto banners and a Xisto - Web Hosting banner. The script uses PHP and mySQL to track the banner displays and clicks. Some of its features are: rotation of banners shown, not just random selection. This ensures every banner is displayed an equal amount of times detailed stats that show how many times each banner is displayed and clicked ability for users to change account details at any time so banners can be updated easily automated password recovery if email address is nominated with account, its not a mandatory requirement This sounds similar to what you want to do, with the exception of users being able to submit and change banners at will. You said you wanted to review banners included in the rotation. I do review the banners periodically, but an inappropriate banner could be displayed for a while before I check it. My site does not get a lot of unique visitors, (around 20 to 30 a day) but because visitors usually spend a while browsing my site the banner exposure is not too bad. Below are the current statistics for the Xisto - Web Hosting banner. BuffaloHELP, if you would like this script, I am more than happy to give it to you. Having said that, there are probably others here that could write a much better script than me. Overall statistics Month detail statistics If would like to see the script in action, go to my site http://www.mudmall.com/ and go to the "Banner Accounts" page. Please take note of the banner and site requirements (graphics or MUD related sites only) for inclusion in the banner rotation before you make an account. I have included Xisto and Xisto - Web Hosting in the rotation because they provide my hosting and I wanted to show my support. -
Why Spam Is Spreading Through My Domain Email
Avalon replied to itssami's topic in Web Hosting Support
Quite possibly you have a virus that is picking up your domain email address from your computer. It might be worth scanning for viruses. I doubt very much it would be something Xisto has done, you should be very sure of your facts before making such accusations. -
I think you should read the posts again, here's some examples... How can you possibly know what happens in the kids home? You only see them away from home. Kids can behave very differently when they are out, sometimes the complete opposite to when they are home. The little angel when they are out can be a little horror when at home and the little horror when they are out can be a complete angel at home. Kids are like that. This to me looks like a presumption that the parent is doing the wrong thing. Certainly looks like telling the reader what to do to me. A parenting flaw? Really? Is this an 'expert' diagnosis? So these are not telling the reader what they should do? Sure looks like to me.

The limit applied depends on which hosting package you apply for. Package 1 for 10 credits gives you 50Mb total space including your database Package 2 for 30 credits gives you 150Mb total space including your database See http://forums.xisto.com/ for full details.

I'm probably going to upset a few people that have posted in this topic by asking this. How many of you are actually parents? If you are not parents, then what makes you think you know what being a parent is like and therefore qualified to give advice? So you have read books and done some babysitting, that is not the same as being a parent where you are responsible for the child 24 hours a day. Even if you have a degree in "Parenting", it means nothing until you have been a parent yourself. Only then are you experienced and can you see what theories you have read about actually work for your child.Don't get me wrong, I agree with some of the things you have said, as you can tell from my first post. However, please do not make out like you are an expert unless you have actually been a parent. Tell me this, would you like to be operated on by a surgeon that has read all the books but only performed your particular operation on a cadaver, (dead body) where it doesn't matter if they make a mistake. I doubt you would be very happy about that idea, you would want an experienced surgeon.Every child is different and needs to be brought up differently, what works for one child will not work with all children. Children do not come with instruction manuals, therefore parents will sometimes make mistakes, this does not mean they are bad parents. Usually we learn from our mistakes and move on.I may seem like I am ranting here, but as a parent for over 20 years now, I get annoyed about being told how to be a parent by people who more often than not have never been a parent themselves. I had it happen to me many, many times over the 20 years.

Banner Request by Albus Dumbledore
Avalon replied to Albus Dumbledore's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
So you want us to use this image for the award? -
Yep sorry to say, but Big Red is totally outclassed on this one. Btw, correct me if I'm wrong but Big Red does have a white border I think, so no points lost there. AB, I think you should look at some of the tutorials about render blending. You just need more practice, samma has been around for a while so it was never going to be easy.

Pretty much most of the forums will give you credits for posting. The main forums that won't are Guest Forum, Entertainment, Creativity Forum and some of the sub forums in the GFX Forum. Any forum that won't earn you credits will have "(no post count)" in it's title. And yes, you did get it right... "free php - no-ads web hosting". The only catch is you must maintain your credits by posting here and abide by the terms of service. You won't find a better deal anywhere.

I'll post the first entry. And yes, I made the flag animation myself.

Well said Brandice. I am a parent myself but it seems a lot of other parents are too consumed in their own little worlds to give their children the attention they deserve. Here in Australia they are talking about punishing the parents of unruly/destructive children by making them take parenting classes. To me it seems the reason we have so many unruly children is because their parents do not take note or care what their children are doing. From my experience, children that behave badly usually do so because it's the only way they can get their parent's attention. Some parents seem to think if you buy the child a gift it proves that you love them, not so. A person much wiser than me once told me, "Children spell love as TIME." I have never been able to spend a lot of money on my children, (not as much as I and they would like) but I have been able to spend a lot of time with them. Sure it means I haven't been to do as many things for ME as I would like, but I feel as a parent, my first responsibility is to my children. It is my responsibility to develop them in to sensible, well balanced adults that are able to genuinely care for others and not just themselves. My children are now 16 and 20, they have never been in trouble with the police, don't do drugs and are generally well mannered and polite. I think I have achieved the result I desired. To those children reading this, just because your parents won't let you do everything you want, it does not mean they don't love you. The fact that they are stopping from doing something, (usually for a good reason, even if you don't agree with it) suggests they they do in fact care about you.

You can still vote, just not for yourself. I think the voting on this could go anywhere with the number of quality entries. I'm sure everyone will have their own favourite for different reasons. woot! 11 entries so far, I think this is the SOTW with the most entries to date! And the best thing is some of them are first time entrants. This can only help to make SOTW grow even bigger and better. Mike it's nothing against you, I just happened to get lucky with the timing.
