Agreed. Like i said in the article (I believe it did), the middle-eastern people don't even bother bringing this to court. They just slay who they want and these days, some men even take advantage of their "privelege" and start murdering their female family members for anjoyment and coming up with some bogus story about how that relative of him dishonored the family, then the rest of the family would just nod and pat the perpetrator's back as if he's done a good job. I'd also like to add that the person who actually commited the rape won't even be punished or held guilty at all. Unless of course, this matter is brought to court. How disgraceful!

Your Blog And Space Blog and Space Personal Page
evion replied to pokbunnag's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Blogging gets pretty boring for awhile, truthfully. I hate myspace with a passion. The site is just some cute little dating hangout something like Friendster and/or those website to find adult singles . It basically combined all of that plus something like Blogger and Xanga together to form something that targets both adults and kids. Kids think xanga is too restricted, and join myspace. Adults want some "young" people to talk to, so they join myspace (No offence to those who actually join for fun. I'm only talking about SOME myspacers). I've had remarks and comments from friends about Myspace too and how it doesn't look safe at all. Be it anyway, I'm never being a blogger anyway. It's way too troublesome. -
Nice point there Cyborgxxi, back when hotmail was "hot" i used to have everything in there and depended on it for all my email needs. But problem is i have to clean up the inbox every week or so to leave enough space for the bigger files i leave in my drafts. Now with Gmail, i see some junk in my inbox I'll just delete it and i can keep every email (or "conversations" as gmail calls it)i ever get from anyone. I would definitely love to download Google pack now..... Alright so maybe its mainly for Norton Anti-virus 5 and the 6 months free trial . I still like the idea of Google supporting the idea of FILE SHARING. Get it? Well of course I'm not accusing Google of anything like this but it definitely LOOKS like Google is incorporating this idea . Oh c'mon its true!

I used to use another URL redirection site called Has.it which is great but the site itself lags with so many users so 56kers may find it hard to even sign up. So far, dot.tk is still the best but it has advertisements too. As in pop-up windows that advertise dot.tk themselves. It's pretty easy to keep your hits up for dot.tk anyway since there really is no requirement, you just need some activity within your site. You get a free email redirection too which is pretty neat!

Well if the quality is good the price might be worth it considering some other hubs which don't have a gigabit switch and cost about $100. I seriously believe linksys is overrated. Their products are good i have to admit but the service you get from customer help is horrible from the last time i actually tried to ask for some help. Although if the house has already been wired up with linksys wireless adapters a linksys router would do better than a Dlink one. And i got this from experience, trust me...

Balloon Tips Overlapped By Taskbar...
evion replied to WeaponX's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I have the same problem and i believe it happens when you were "ballooning" the icon in the taskbar when a program or command caused your taskbar to be the selected "window". This pushes the "balloon tip" behind your taskbar. You could get rid of it by switching users and log back in i think. At least that's what i did and it works. I'm not exactly sure if I'm correct though, it doesn't happen often for me. -
Sorry to double post but i just saw the second page and found the "Sky at Khorfakkan" series was SUPERB!! Absolutely love'em. m^e maybe you could join this up with my post above. Thanks and you've GOTTA see the page to Sky at Khorfakkan. It's excellent! Great work Dhanesh!

I'm not very good with cameras but have gotten some good shots of Gatlinburg of Tennesee in the U.S. during my vacation there. Not the little city itself but atop the mountains and iced up "rivers". I took them all in my Sony Ericsson k700i which is i think, using a VGA camera. I believe that's the worst you can get out of a cameraphone. About dhanesh's shots, I'd say their really great! The clouds you captured definitely looked "buttery" as you called it. I especially liked Butter Clouds over Mosque 2 because the Mosque's peak point makes a good focal point for the picture. I didn't get to see the rest of the 50+ photos though because i gotta dash and making this quick comment before i go. Like m^e, you're gonna be a great photographer with that much of patience in you. (I personally get bored of looking at clouds after awhile, no offence )

I use a logitech mouse i got along with the Compaq computer i bought at Circuit City heh . But the keyboard that came with my computer broke like a month later and i didn't have a warranty for it. Instead, my cousin brought along this super old keyboard with dust and mites all over it and i thought he was nuts but after i cleaned it up you could actually see it sparkle - ok weird because it isn't any shiny at all. Just trying to make it sound nicer. Anyway the keyboard's brand/model name has been worn off already so i can barely make it up. I think its like a brandless China model though . It has alot of neat add-on buttons on the side that you can assign commands to. The keyboard buttons are really springy and the feeling when you type sort of pushes you to type more and faster. Anyway that's my treasured keyboard and i know this might've really sounded lame.

I believe it was Photoshop 6. It had a similar layout to CS 8.0. Thanks for the comments! At least i survived the day of that class, only 4 more months to go. eurgh... Don't know why though, after this one, i can't make any good ones anymore. It usually comes up all messy and bland now. I'll just have to wait until another idea pops in my mind then. Woohoo! First to say my "Frozen Ground" was best! I kinda thought it looked like a maze on the left heh and i love the lines too. It wasn't supposed to come out but i added a touch of "frozen" to it.

Haha...that's pretty interesting. Everyone says my Santa sig is best too heh. Well thanks for the comment!

Ok, so i've probably gone pretty inactive in this sig design pasttime for awhile which is why my mind acted up on me during Web Design class in school. I was definitely really bored because I already knew everything in the class but i had to take it as a pre-requisite for some other class so... I managed to pop open Photoshop and began work on once again, another sig. But unlike my usual homey feel to it, i get a crummy school computer with no renders or custom brushes. So i used my imagination and created 2 new default brush and renderless sigs. Enjoy! ...Also, i like the first one better although i made it second and the "Faded Existence" one first. Oh well Please comment!

Guild Wars is OK i guess. I mean its the best so far I've played but has yet to satisfy my needs. Like most other free games I've played. GW is just another one of those "I'm done, lets play another game!" type of games I've played so far and bore comes down on you fast after you've beaten the game. Other than that, i love most parts of its storyline.

First of all I would like to point out that I'm going to try to use no discrimination whatsoever in either sides Muslim or non-Muslim if you are a Muslim and feel this is going to be an offensive topic, please accept my apologies and press the Back button on your browser. I've been studying areas of the Middle-east in Geography class and have done some research on regligious "rebels" or topics of the sort. I found an interesting keyword - "Honor killing" and decided to further my research based on it. I found out that Honor killing is done in some cultures and societies today. It is the act of the male killing one of female relatives for betraying or otherwise "dishonoring" the family. This not only goes for people of Islamic heritage but of many other religions as well centuries ago where women are considered lower-class than men. There are still many, especially areas of the Middle-east where people trully believe in their religion, where families follow honor killing as a way of protecting and witholding the family honor. In fact, the practice of this is considered a private family matter and non-family members or courts are usually not involved. The UN population Fund estimates a total of 5000 women whom are honor killed every year. The perpetrators base their reasons for commiting family murder on Islamic law. Unfortunately, there has never been such a law written down in the Kuran (I believe this is how you spell it). To this, I will relate a certain story in an article from somewhere (Sorry i forgot the address). Reported in the 29th of December 2005. In Multan, Pakistan, a man, Nazir Ahmed relates with no shame at all, how he killed his 2 daughters and their 25-year-old step-sister. His only regret was that he had not killed the step-sister's alleged lover. It was said that Ahmed perceived the step-sister had had an affair with her boyfriend while in fact, by sources from neighbors and friends, she had been abused and forced to commit adultery by her boyfriend. Nazir Ahmed reports that the reason why he killed his 3 daughters along with their step-sister is because he didn't want his daughters to follow on their step-sister's footsteps. His family is poor, and family honor is all he has left and he will preserve it with his life. This murder is one of the 260 honor killings that has been committed during the first 11 months of 2005. The number has risen the past decades and is believed to rise even further than before amidst many other religious conflicts. I think the reason why this is being done is because religion is all these poor people have been taught and they have been told for centuries to follow their religion and keep faith in their god for their lifetime. Many have never been educated with the lifestyles and changes from the older generation to our present 21st century. Developing countries bring in new ideas for change. The old deny it, choosing to live like their ancestors did, the young follow it, choosing to stick with new trends and rebelling against their parents. This scene would of course relate back to aplenty of other topics including suicide bombings, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and many more that can be quoted right off anyone's mind. The only other solution to this problem would be to enforce strict rules on these types of practices but governments find it hard as their people might rebel against them. There is so much difficulty in ending religious conflicts, and the people suffer because of it. Please give your comments on this topic. I know its long-winded but I'd just like to give a shoutout and some general information on this very meaningful subject. Thank you. ----------------------------------- Sources: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honor_killing http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ (This is the one i forgot, i found it later on)

Seems there's not one of our ladies in Asta have responded to this yet so I'll add my little male comment before a PACK of ladies corner m^e one day in some street.GREAT jokes. Absolutely love'm. I especially like the one with going to Gap and buying pants. Like most people say: Simple, yet effective.

Actually, it doesn't look exactly "fresh" to me at all. Personally, I'd prefer the old one as it gives Intel more meaning. Just like some others who've stayed with their old logos like HP, Compaq and Dell. So maybe compared to Intel, these companies are still fairly young, but keeping the same logo throughout gives them a sortof respect for their company's history and how it was founded and al lthat stuff. "Leap Ahead" doesn't sound very catching don't you think? Whereas if there's "Intell Inside" people immediately knows what makes the product so special.

What's Your Profession? Let the community see who you are
evion replied to twitch's topic in Introductions
Oh wow! The Students vote is beating everyone else's!! OK so you guessed it, I'm a high school student here as a freshman. I just moved from Singapore to the U.S. and so far everything's been fine. Except for the fact that the schools generally don't accept you as being "smart". For instance, I've already taken multiple courses on web design, javascript, visual basic and whatnot and extremely want to skip these extra courses but they are required as pre-requisites to the more advanced courses. Thus freedom here is very limited. I cannot say what i like because there are plenty. I do enjoy playing around in Photoshop designing a nice new little sig but those are occasional past times that i do when I've got the time or when I'm just hanging about without any homework. I like to bowl alot, people say i draw pretty well but personally i just draw to get my A in class. I like to write, especially fiction short stories. I also like the math and sciences and i usual do well in them in class. My personal goals are to be able to understand more computer languages, stay nerd-jock (Sports and studies CAN mix remember that!), and get to a good university. -
Some MMORPGs are half-p2p which i think is way much better than those which are fully free. First of all, most free games don't come in such good "packages". Of course you would get the free BETA version of the game but after the final release you might have to pay to play. An example of this would be MapleStory. They let people play for free and your freedom around the world is not restricted in anyway as long as you have the in-game money. The only thing you need real money for is when you're buying what most people call "avatars" that generally make you look cooler. Some might help your stats a little but is totally not worth the money because all of'em only last for 90 days. Still, many people choose to pay for this because it is just fun to look cool. The way i see it, its an extremely good idea that many other MMORPGs are using too. I too think Tibia is really a great game. The game though, is very time-consuming and mastering your character at the beginning is very tedious and boring. No true storyline and only a few quests of the newbie island. The game only gets good when you're of a high level player. I think the game is also really slow and "laggy". There is no real protection for the young players in the game when you get to the mainland so that the high-level players can kill you anytime they want. Other than that, I think Tibia is still a whole new gaming experience but not worth to pay for premium.

How To Connect Computers In A Wi-fi Network Peer-to-peer connection?
evion replied to evion's topic in Computer Networks
Yes, i think my problem is different from yours. For one thing, when i tried the command on computer-2, the computer "beeped" and gave me a weird error message. When i tried the command with computer-1 it didn't work too. I substituted "computer_2" in the second command you gave with the computer name of the second computer but it still doesn't work. I'm very sure the IP of my router is correct because i am able to change/edit the settings by typing the IP on a internet browser. I'm sorry if this is very troublesome but I've been trying to fix this problem for ages and still am not able to get the computer to "talk with each other 2-ways". Any more help will be glady appreciated. Thanks! -
Mosaic Effect Sig : By Mayank please post your comments
evion replied to mayank's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
All i can say is "WOW!" Link(From Zelda i think) will be so proud!! I'm pretty sure you used a pixel stretch with the render and did that mosaic thing but judging from my previous attempts, this looks absolutely wonderful. I have no criticisms at all except that you might want to change the text color a little to match the sig. Other than that, its just way cool to be left hanging there for nothing! Put it up for auction on ebay! (OK I'll cut the exxageration now). Great job Mayank! -
Following houdini's little help i would also like to add that you could use absolute positioning too if you don't like CSS all that much (no offence =P). For example: <img src="url of image here" style="position:absolute; left:0px; top:0px"> Where the bolded zeros are you would place the number of pixels from the page margins you want an image to be. For instance, if you had put in top:100px then the image will be a 100 pixels below the top margin and vice versa for the left margin. You could also substitute the left margin for the right margin if you want. You also have to remember to set the margins for the page in order for this code to work right in Firefox or other Mozilla/Netscape browsers. EX: In the body tag, add LEFTMARGIN="0" TOPMARGIN="0" within it. The numbers are of course changeable to whatever margins you wish the page to start with.

How To Connect Computers In A Wi-fi Network Peer-to-peer connection?
evion replied to evion's topic in Computer Networks
OK problems that i terribly hate to have encountered but i did: 1) To make this easier I'm going to name the computers 1, 2, and 3. 1 gets a reply when pinged with 2 but doesn't get any reply when pinged with 3. 2 gets no reply from any of the computers. 3 gets a reply when pinged with 2 but doesn't get a reply when pinged with 1. Obviously, 2 is the master computer here of some sort but it is unable to ping to any of the computers except the access point (obviously). So basically 2 cannot "talk" to any of the computers and 1 and 3 can both talk to 2. I tried net view and typed in the computer names of each computer and it didn't work. All the computers are able to ping to the router (192.168.1.1). So i tried creating a shared folder in computer 1 but it only shared the files among users of that computer. There was nothing about which network the shared documents folder was supposed to share in in the properties dialog of the shared documents folder. I was thinking maybe it is because of the adapter diversity? As in computers 3 and 2 are both using wireless-G while 1 is using wireless-B. I tried re-configuring the setup of my router, restoring it to its factory defaults and trying again but nothing worked. This is all very weird and new to me and i hope someone is able to help. All help will be appreciated thanks!
