  1. MIT made $100 laptops for poor countries, here is the specs: The proposed $100 machine will be a Linux-based, with a dual-mode display—both a full-color, transmissive DVD mode, and a second display option that is black and white reflective and sunlight-readable at 3X the resolution. The laptop will have a 500MHz processor and 128MB of DRAM, with 500MB of Flash memory; it will not have a hard disk, but it will have four USB ports. The laptops will have wireless broadband that, among other things, allows them to work as a mesh network; each laptop will be able to talk to its nearest neighbors, creating an ad hoc, local area network. The laptops will use innovative power (including wind-up) and will be able to do most everything except store huge amounts of data. This is just great news to hear that other less fortunate countries will have a chance to have a computer and need no powersource to plug it in!

  3. I play this game =) I'm in the Scania server with a lvl 56 mage' ^^ What lvl are you? wouldn't mind expanding my buddy list.
  4. I strongly agree with this. It cost too much to keep them behind bars. Our tax money feeds them, keeps them secure and a place to stay. For some they may think of it better than living on the streets. But anyway, if you've commited murder, I feel that the person that killed should be executed. That way we wouldn't have to pay for them staying in a prison for life like thats just wrong!
  5. Guild wars is a great game,I might be picking it up today or sometime this week. Its wow'ed me since its initial release. Also the Free to play factor just crushes my other options because i'm well a wise spender =P

  7. Nvidia is sponsoring a game tournament with Trackmania, so they actually paid for the game to be made and it is free to download! The game is LAN/Internet only so you can't really play offline (the tutorials you can I guess). It has over 90 tracks and even comes with a built in track editor. Can you really go wrong with this? Why aren't you downloading it now? Free online/lan Trackmania Nations Internet/Lan game for your PC, it has over 90 tracks (ok some are only 30 seconds long, but most of them are "normal length"). If you get bored of the massive amount of tracks in the game, just make your own with the free build in track editor: The mirrors for the downloads: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://www.gamershell.com/news_27667.html http://www.geforce.com/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  8. I've found firefox on my pc to be pretty much the same speed as opera. But the opera free browser is loaded with ads and will slow you down. So unless you actually want to go and spend some coin on a browser, hey opera is there. But for the person who is cheap like me. I say firefox is the one in my books. Its multiplatform and customizable for anyone who wants to use it. Also the tabs function minimizes windows for me.
  9. First time i owned a computer was in 1999 and it was an HP Pavilion with 400MHz and 64mb SDram and 6GB hdd. It was a purchase for me in Gr.9 From there i learned lots and got so into it, that i built my first pc 2years after. It had a Duron 700MHz with 512mb DDR and ECS K7S5A [both ddr and SDr compatable motherboard] I overclocked it to 1.1Ghz on air and was really happy. Now that i'm on the computer like mad, i don't think i can image what life would be like without a pc. I think civilization would corrupt on itself.
  10. Runescape looks nice but i'm down with maplestory [http://www.nexon.net/] Its a free MMORPG but 2D =p Its got lots of quests and many items to be baught in the game. Also another good free game is Americas Army [https://www.americasarmy.com/] Its like a simulator FPS because the movements are very sensetive. I'm planning to buy guildwars which you have to buy BUT Free to play online =)
  11. Compete with google? Thats a lot to take on, with soo much that google has to offer. Though its nice to have some friendly competition with google among the other search engines =)
  12. Those are really small, and good for low power. I was thinking about building one out of my old NES [i have 2] would be nice to have the cd drive go where the cartrages go =) Anyone know where to find these? They shouldn't be that expensive.
  13. The psp has a really weak wifi card, i've seen some extension mods for getting a better connection by making the antenna long or even bringing the antenna external.
  14. Moto Rokr is also from Rogers Cellular in Canada. Its a great phone, comes with a 512mb TS flash card [the one from rogers does]. My contract expired a while ago and i might pick this up this week to have something to listen to. Check it out in the store and see if you like the live demo. If not choose something else, but the phones main feature is the mp3 player.
  15. Nice to see firefox getting updated. For an open source browser its really nice and fast too. I really prefer it over IE anyday just because i can multitask better on firefox.
