Hey i visit Xisto for a quick second and i get THIS? Wow...I feel much honored! I know we all had great fun back during those days and now i realize I'm not the only one leaving due to life's pressures . Hope we'll still be in contact though, Xisto is always here if ever you feel the need to spam and want to find a good hearty community for it. P.S. Had to read that book for the summer, and I'm obsessively convinced that the answer to all things is 42.

Hey guys! I can't say that I'm back because I'm never always around anymore. Basically, it's because i can't keep up with the posts and i don't have much need of testing around CSS, HTML, PHP or the sort anymore. My memory is constantly already bombarded with Visual Basic functions, variables blah blah blah (Taking the course right now) and taking AP World History isn't a good idea to go along with any other memorizing classes. But nooo, that's not the end of it, Language Arts also includes this little start up procedure for all sophomores where we have to memorize an entire list of latin roots for a test one day, then another list of prepositions for another test the next day. Mind you, this is straight recall, and i have to be terribly accurate. Today is one of those days when I've finished my homework early on and decided to relax a little. So i opened FireFox and the first thing i say was the "Xisto" bookmark on the bookmarks toolbar (See how loyal i am? ). So i came by, browsed around, and God, this place has changed . For one thing, i really like the old "neat" version of the shoutbox better, although some of ya'll might prefer this "modern" version maybe? . Anyways, Xisto has been the soil that supported my growth of knowledge in all of this programming and website design stuff. I realized, i haven't even thanked all of you for helping me out since the beginnings (When Nils was still active in here that is.. ). So guys, thanks really. And of course, I'll still be around. You know, browsing about here and there for new topics that are always an inspiration to me. Good day!tech~

Is X-Men Possible With Genetic Engineering ?
evion replied to Darkwolf11235's topic in Science and Technology
Everyone's missing the point again. In the movies AND the comic books most of the X-men were natural bor mutated people. This is physically impossible by the fact that the human genome disallows that. Mutation is affected by the natural evolution of our DNA. Natural selection allowed us to become what we are today, we didn't just suddenly pop-up eyes out of nowhere. Our eyes probably evolved from some water collected into small sacs on our skin thousands of billions of years ago. If anyone watched the X-men movie where Professor X unleashed Cerebro, you will notice that there are tons of mutants in the Earth undiscovered, once again yet impossible because Mutation is just luck. There is absolutely no chance that mutation on your part could be so drastic and lucky that you get to create a single fireball on your palm. Even physically altering your genetics as in that of the Fantastic 4 wouldn't get you anywhere but death itself. -

Review: Google Sketchup My review of Google SketchUp
evion replied to szupie's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I've tried a little 3D modeling before wil 3D Studio Max. It was a pretty long time ago, but i enjoyed every single part of it. I designed an entire house with lighting, a garage, some windows (ok i admit, you can't see through them YET (haven't figured out how to do that) and had so much fun making the couch look bouncy. Hopefully, I'll have the time to try out this err...old(?) tool of Google's and see if i still remember a thing or two. -
I'm not a big fan of offline email managers, mainly because they aren't very useful at all unless you're using a travelling laptop or PocketPC. It's not very hard to excess webmail online and only takes a few seconds even for a dial-up user. (minutes maybe?) Even so, i have to comment on the design of the latest "Live" Windows programs. It is nonetheless fancier and boasts more function than its predecessors but it still lacks flexibility. I wouldn't be surprised if there will be ads being squeezed all over the programs. Microsoft should also give in to the other 80% of the world not using Hotmail or MSN anymore and start supporting other email services such as Gmail or AOL and AIM. Hotmail is so full of ads i should think it is considered "unclean" now. Plus, many American users still use America Online, which provides an aol.com email address, which they often use because of it's simplicity and seemingly endless storage (Should be 2 Gigabytes). Microsoft had better buckle-up, the world is a rough ride for them now.

A List Abosulutely Free MMORPGs Thats right FREE
evion replied to de exile's topic in Computer Gaming
I've played a few of them and all i have to say is that only at least 5 in that list is worth playing. The rest either has really bad graphics or the game doesn't look appealing at all. At first, i got lured to these games by the fantastic look of the websites. But after starting the game, you really get the feeling that it's just another runescape-look-alike. The only few unique MMORPGs (totally free) that i enjoy are MapleStory, GunzOnline, Gunbound, and Conquer Online (big game, lots of people). I played Pristontale when it was still in Beta, so the whole game is free. It's a remarkable game really, one of the best MMORPGs I've ever experienced in all of my lifetime. The game basically focuses on battle and questing, but for a free game, it is something to dream about. -
The video was superb, but there was one more thing i was wondering about that might prove really funny. What if you asked a friend to open his mouth wide open. Then pop a mentos onto his mouth and pour in the cans! I'm sure it wouldn't hurt your friend but it would be a really cool prank. Also, if you guys (cyborgxxi and Jeigh) really wanted to know how you can put it in an enclosed bottle, just try this: Wrap one mentos in tissue paper and tie it onto the bottle cap of a diet coke. Drink the coke up till you're sure if the coke is stood up it wouldn't touch the mentos. Then flip the bottle and run!

I have to agree, Google's Translation tools has been the most accurate AND free translating machine I've ever used. I am a Chinese myself and there has been only a few errors here and there, maybe a little grammatical mistakes because Chinese grammar is almost the total opposite of English. I also remember back a few years ago, Lycos, or was it Alta Vista had a similar engine for translation whole web pages, i tried that before with Japanese, i ended up with the weirdest messed up webpage I've ever seen plus garbage in English. I never used it again .

Wow...haven't been checking the forums for awhile and my post raised so much discussion? The problem i posed is long gone now. There doesn't seem to have been another virus/worm attack at all. By the way, has anyone tried PC-Doctor before? It came pre-installed on my dad's laptop (bought it like 5-6 years ago) and it seemed to work perfectly during the first 2-3 years of use. Then we switched over to Norton, and it wasn't any better.

I hate buying stuff like these over the internet, no offence. Since most times you'll end up having to pay the second AND third shipping fee for returning it and getting another back. Does your return policy cover shipping costs?

Internet Access On Airplanes. a good thing or a bad thing?
evion replied to iGuest's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Wow Houdini, your explanation awed me. I didn't really think about it that way. But let me clarify something, you'r saying a cellphone signal would be much higher in the airplane than down on the ground? Does that also mean airplanes can pick up wireless signals emitted from towers on the ground easily? I'm not exactly sure of your conclusion.Regarding the issue of internet on planes, has anyone thought of the cost of all this? I'm guessing the first few airlines acquiring internet access on their planes will only enable it on the first or business class sections of the airplanes. Well, of course there is no doubt about this if you think about it. But I've been riding Singapore Airlines since eternity because of their mini computer station on each seat of their planes, which always keeps me busy be it having to watch movies, listen to music, playing sucky nintendo games, or just watching the realtime geographical location of the plane on a map move. All other airlines I've sat never had this feature. I think the idea of having paid wireless internet access on planes will have a higher chance of occuring than free internet access, thus being a waste of money. -
I Don't Want Norton To Delete My Viruses And Hacktools!
evion replied to tansqrx's topic in Security issues & Exploits
These are just like what latest medicines do. If you want a strong medicine, that strong medicine will kill off stuff you dont want AND some stuff that you actually need. So far, i've been using only up to Norton 2002 since i really do not need such a high security computer for what i do (play games). Even so, Norton 2002 gets very annoying when it blocks internet access for almost every program on the computer unless it is Microsoft certified or something. Especially now when I've just got Norton Internet Security 2006 and it has that new "Learning" feature, which to my opinion, is an irritable and annoying aspect of Norton that shouldn't be added there in the first place. Of course, soon after i learned how to turn it off and now Norton asks me whenever i use a program that uses the internet. But my first week of Norton 2006 was a nightmare, and it was a little buggy too, as sometimes when i open the Norton window, the borders will show up and the "content" will be empty (So you see whatever is in the backround of that window). Surprisingly, it fixed itself, fortunately for me. -
A little off-topic here but my mom uses Comcast as her email service. I've always hated using your ISP email client because when you unsubscribe to them they automatically delete your account. Anyway, she wanted to read the messages in Outook express too, unfortunately, i forgot to check off the "Keep copy of messages on server" thing. So now, all the messages in Comcast webmail is wiped, and copied into Outlook Express. Because it was my fault, i had to do the honors and email back every single email she got. MORAL: That check should be default.

What Is The Limit Of The Life? whats the limit of the life?
evion replied to doctor's topic in Science and Technology
This first sentence was all i need to prove that humans will barely live more than a year (maybe shorter) before dying. The reason being that humans and almost all living organisms today require bacteria and even pathogenic microorganisms to survive. Look at E. Coli, there are some pathogenic strains of it, yet it is a useful bacteria for our body. Look at the first bacteria which fused with eukaryotic cells to form the all important mitochondria so as we won't die to the toxic oxygen. It is impossible for us humans to live without these microorganisms. We've adapted to these creatures, and taking it away will prove our doom. -
I've just bought a new computer that comes with a hp photosmart 2575 all in one printer. Today, i tried to install it but I didn't follow the instructions at the beginning which was not to plug the USB cable in till the setup asks you to do so. Windows XP (Media Center Edition) then detects the USB device and installs and names in "Unknown Device". I tried updating the device in Device Manager but that didn't work. I uninstalled the USB device from device manager and follow the steps in the instructions but that didn't work. I downloaded the latest driver for the Photosmart and tried installing it and it didn't work again. I googled the problem and found this site but it still didn't work. Lastly, i did a system restore to a day before all this happened and it still didn't work. What's the problem here? I run a HP Pavilion m7480n, Intel Viiv computer with 3Ghz processor speed and 2gigs of RAM. It is also using Service Pack 2 and is fairly new, probably a few months old. I know i don't get much good responses here but i have to take my chances. My mom wants it fixed tommorow and I can't do anything about it. After reading articles in the web, it seems my only solution is to reinstall Windows, which is the last thing i want to do with this computer. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!

This happened to me many times before and i eventually had to call my uncle over to help me fix it up. Miraculously, it always works everytime he comes. So the last time he came, i watched carefully and made sure i remembered everything he did. It was not exactly complicated, and he set up the network manually for each computer. All he did was set up a wireless network using the wizard and then set up a home or small office network using another wizard. I did it again with my new desktop but it didn't work. Even though i set permissions for the firewall to allow it and also set the other computers to allow my computer. I did everything required for a network, designate a common workgroup name that every computer has and everything. I even went to one of the computers to see if that computer can find my computer as a workgroup computer and it did. What i DON'T see is the shared folders all the other computers have in this new desktop. My second problem is with my wireless connection. Everytime i startup my computer and login, i get the usual yada yada with the wireless connection, saying it's connected and such. But a few minutes of using the computer later, on the taskbar, it shows a picture saying it is not connected. When i hover my cursor over it, it says it is not connected either. Yet i can use the internet and IM with the exception of MSN which doesn't seem to work. I double-click it and find 2 very weird things:1. It says not connected in my SSID box.2. But when i click it, it says if i double-click i will disconnect from the network, which also means I am connected to the network, yet I'm kinda not.Can someone help me with this? Everytime i buy or get something new it always comes ready with faults. Even my old computer which my brother is using now works better when he's using it in his room. Technology hates me.... :DUPDATE: Also, i just noticed that everytime after awhile of the ugly X on the wireless connection it will disconnect itself and reconnect after i repair it, but repairing will always stop at "Connnecting to wireless network" even though i can use the internet. This is getting weirder....

Group Icons For Astahost Its one of the interesting components missing
evion replied to iGuest's topic in General Discussion
It looks great seriously ganeshn11, i can tell you worked extremely hard on these. But the only problem is that it doesn't match the current forum's theme. I'm not sure what M^E or Opaque will think but that's just my ten cents about it. Don't be disappointed, i really like them. It looks like quality that anyone would actually pay for. Good job! -
Whats With The AMD Sempron 2800+ Need help please
evion replied to Citezyne's topic in Hardware Workshop
I had the same problem with an ATI Radeon 9250 on my Compaq 6016. Both are really old but i seriously don't know which is older. Turns out the compaq is older . What I'm still wondering though, is why the graphics card worked for me for about 2 months before it started spazzing and keep having to reset itself. Now i can't even login using the default login screen of Windows XP. The little display pics of each user sorts of jumps and the computer hangs, and i have to restart it manually. Now I'm just using my superbly lame nVIDIA Geforce 2 which uses the shared memory. Impossible to play any form of true 3D games. (Well..it IS possible, except your eyes will literally rip out of its sockets at the very sight of the lag ) -
Does Astahost Have A Banner I Can Use On My Site?
evion replied to Citezyne's topic in Web Hosting Support
Hey Citezyne, proudly, I would like to mention that i designed the new logo of Xisto. Supporting Xisto is a wonderful thing and I will help you in any way i can. If you prefer, I could edit the logo up the top and make it as small as those "affliate buttons" you often see in fansites/webrings. It all depends on you in the end after all. PM me with the dimensions you would like me to edit it to. Also, after designing the "button", I might need to get it approved by one of our mods here before you can use it, to prevent any misunderstanding and whatnot. Thanks for supporting Xisto! -
Easy Acceptance! Paypopup.com Fast, Easy, Take a Look
evion replied to clamzo's topic in Online Advertising
It would be nice if you could give us some proof if this thing actually works. It looks legitimate but you really won't know these days even though the site looks professional. Still, 200 page views a day looks like a pretty large amount. I myself would never be able to come up with a website that receives that much page views. The site also provides banner ads in alternative to the ugly pop-under ads but those are 19 cents per thousand impressions -- not exactly worth it, then again, I've never had experience with ads before so i have not much say in this. I might try this out anyhow...sometime in the near future... -
Photoshop Tutorial: Jungle Style Text Effect nice text effect
evion replied to mustra's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Simple, fast, and easy to do. I like it, a very great start to creating tuts. Here's a little comment though, when making tuts, try to do it step by step instead of pouring it all out. Since this is a really simple tut, and basically has just about 3 steps, it doesn't really matter, but if you could start creating better arranged tuts, it would work out way much better for you in the long run.P.S. I know you labeled 1 and 2 as the 2 steps, but you could have made each of those styles a single step. -
I was thinking that too, but in a different way. Why don't u just make a separate FTP account for your sister which guarantees her a specific amount of space. Seeing that she's a sister, (and you sound older than her), she probably would not need anything more than a page she can put stuff in before she starts switching to myspace.
