Ow tough luck M^E, i guess everyone's just waiting until you push those reward credits up to a hundred heheh. Well i might consider doing this though i absolutely have no experience in making skins i do have some experience in editing the buttons and stuff of ipb boards, so i might try it out just for the fun of it and watch as the criticisms pour over me =P. Right now I'm thoroughly working on my finals next week so maybe after that I might try to find some time to try this out. So far though, I'm really seeing some tough competition coming from Reaver and finaldesign. BTW: I came here to check the thread out with the same reason as Reaver's. Woah! That's alot of pages!

Hey cool sig SM, you actually used one of the anime renders you provided in another thread =P. I wonder what those (I'm guessing) jap words are they though..hmm...

How Would You React To Finding Old Games Suddenly?
evion replied to iGuest's topic in Computer Gaming
Wow...now that you all are getting into the whole "ahh...old times..old times" kindof theme maybe i'll continue with some of my old gaming stories which actually started with those really old Nintendo consoles. I can't say whether its SNES or not only because it has never been my family's, only handed down from an old relative. So since I'm supposed to be just about one of the youngest members around here (Not even 18 yet lol) I consider myself pretty proud to behold such a treasure. So far though, i only really enjoy playing one of the Mario versions which included basically every character including the snail guy which you can ride on and shoot tiny fire balls. (I was never really good at names back then heh...curse my memory)I still consider it really fun to play even though there are much better mario versions (including Wario) but sometimes just jumping and squishing the bad guys are so much more fun than actually punching or kicking. -
How Animals Survive Under -50 Degrees C Pretty intresting
evion replied to iGuest's topic in Science and Technology
Actually, humans are built to be able to adapt more quickly than most other animals the last i heard, which is apparently why you can find humans everywhere around the world and not all huddled up in the equator enjoying the sun all day long. The word "normal" is variable depending on where you live and your history of "living", for example: Inuits call below freezing temperatures in the north pole "normal". About fish, Water is actually a poor conductor of heat (Well most of ya'll should know that). Water freezes from the top which creates a kind of blanket on the water. What i don't get though, is that through convection currents, water should be warmer at the higher levels (near the ice layer) but most fish stay at the bottom of the lake/pond when it gets cold. Any ideas? -
2 New Sigs Powered By A Sudden Inspiration
evion replied to evion's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Thanks for the comments! I'll keep working on it. The second one in fact yeah pretty good and I'm thinking of replacing it with my current sig heh. I haven't always used default brushes by the way, going crazy with the pen tool can prove very useful if you know how to use just the right amount of filter touches. I'm still thinking of what i should do with the first sig background. I'm searching and browsing around for renders but all of them just don't match up. If you can provide a render for me I'll put that in. Anyhow I'm glad i finally got replies because I've been waiting for 3-4 days already heh =PThanks again! I'll work hard and consider the default brushes tutorial -
Well I've been pretty busy lately with finals and whatnot but today i have been somehow inspired by some mystical force and decided to design some sigs. Again with my stubborn self, without using custom brushes: Looks pretty plain but i worked really hard on the background and i love it. In my opinion, much better than its pre-requisite but with a pretty lousy background that i did using crazy pen patterns. I love the way the sword just cracks open the sig and i really hadn't had any intention of doing that when i first started designing the sig. It just came out naturally when i was messing with brushes and filters. I might be trying to do both again and combine thme together with the background of the first one as the background of the second one. I think they are both fairly good sigs just demanding some constructive criticisms out there because i know there are always improvements needed to be made. I'd greatly appreciate comments! Thanks! P.S. I've included a sortof one pixel border on both now. I couldn't find a tutorial on making one though, i did it in the end anyway =P P.P.S I STILL don't know how to upload brush presets!!! (Help sm or ebbinger or reaver or ANYONE???) Thanks!!!! Don't wish to double post sorry I'll make this quick: Sorry to have wronged you SM, forgot to read the post where you did you version of neon/plasma glow. I uploaded the brushes and it works thanks! and Sorry again!

They're actually pretty useful tutorials because myself have never done much animating with image ready. I've only fully read the one about the radial blur animation and skimmed through the rest, their great tutorials but yeah you get what spacewaste means by putting this in the wrong section. Next time maybe you should try including a short paragraph about what you think about each tutorial and give opinions to discuss, or else this thread would be wasteful.

Suggestions For The Forum May increase member interactions
evion replied to Vyoma's topic in Web Hosting Support
Hey I've always wondered what those options were for. Unfortunately, i wish to point out that were there ever a contest or competition that gave credits as prizes before? If so please direct me to the topic because I've never seen the such in Asta before. Another question i have is that if you transfer credits into the bank first then to the person, do you get deducted 3% of the credits when you transfer to the bank then another 3% when you transfer to the person? I also still don't get how transferring your credits to a bank first will help prevent scams. Can m^e or someone familiar with this explain it to me? Thanks! -
Noo! Not thaat again! I'm fooled by that joke 3 times this week already. First one in my e-mail, second one when i came here and saw the new post and checked it out but didn't reply, and thirdly which is the very same post again. Arrgh...I'm either THAT obsessed with finding some life out there in the universe or I'm just that dumb. I'll keep with the first option =P

A 'gimp' Sig Need feedback and some help ....
evion replied to abhiram's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Ok, i personally like the size of the text you used at first. Although some might say the text is too small, i believe that at the right time place, small text really does the trick in bringing out your render and background. I love the blend you did with the render on your last try with the sig, but the swiggly text doesn't go well. (I'm sorry just my opinion). I would suggest that, after reducing the size of the background, that you reduce the size of the text to almost of about the same ratio as the background size reduction too. A tad bigger text would emphasize your name if you want. Once again, the render blend looks great its as if "sonic" is walking through the background itself. I would also suggest, if you don't mind trying out, that you DON'T blend the sonic render. Instead, give it a (shifting to Adobe photoshop terms here sorry i don't know about GIMP all that much) small "stylize-wind" filter to the render. I believe this will make it look as if its speeding through (something), although i haven't tried the wind filter with anything but a brushed background. Overall, great sig! I personally think the first version of the sig looks more like a top logo of a game site. =P Just my opinion. Great job! -
Some stuff I've learnt over my time in Asta: - Never make your render transparent 'coz it is the "focus" - Have a layer for every additional design you add (personal opinion) - Although filters are there to make your sig to look better, over-filtering could result in crazy results - Your render should take up about half or more of your sig size.
-
Hahah, i've actually seen it on TV which is really even funnier. It was a pretty old ad actually, i believe like a month back. Now the hilarity doesn't give much of a laughing aura as before but otherwise still boredom-killing.

Hi there Phrame, glad to see Xisto is still popular amongst the lazy phramin folks. Hope you enjoy your stay here in Asta!

ooo looks my spidey girl to me. Pretty nice tutorial but you forgot the most important thing - How'd u get that "buildings-like" brush??!! All you said was to brush and leave white spaces. I have another question coming along with it though which is how you upload the brushes that you provide in ur filefront "profile". I downloaded the file with the plain word "brushes" on it. I downloaded the zip file and extracted the contents. I believe its a .abr file but the "upload toolset" option in the brush toolbar uploads a different extension. Need your help maybe you can tell me something I've missed. Thanks!Oh yeah forgot to comment on the tutorial. Although its a pretty good one i should say with a bunch of blurs giving the "plasma" feel, I still believe the "go crazy" type of plasma background generation is more interesting and would generate much more randomized graphics - no offence on your part. I would give a try on your idea though, great tutorial and i like how you made the spideygirl sort of leans her right elbow on the background itself. Great job!

Ah yes. Another great sig from another great person. Of course you've already put up the turkey render somewhere around the forums before and also already made the turkey sig a looong time ago but that's a pretty good sig anyways. My answer to your question would most porbably be a yes - a turkey has no fingers, it won't be able to pull the trigger =P

Salem, there are 2 packages made available to you by Xisto. Firstly, you get the beginner's package whih requires 10 hosting credits. I believe there are no pre-installed script restrictions on that one compared to the regular package which requires 30 hosting credits. The only main difference between the two is the amount of bandwidth and storage space you have. You do not have to worry if you're getting the pre-installed scripts or not because Fantastico is always available to you as long as you maintain an active member of Xisto. There are TONS of things you cando with Xisto's cpanel and i believe no one can deny that.

This absolutely reminds me of my most favorite method of creating backgrounds - which is to create a random brush stroke and mess with the filters. I don'texactly get why most professional graphic designers not like using filters for the background. I think it looks greatwhen done right. Unfortunately for me, I don't do well with filters because i can hardly go crazy when I've got grunge or abstract brushes at my disposal. Filters works wonders though....wish i get that talent for that back again... =P

Yet Another Sig Thread (rate Sigs) -ebbinger_413
evion replied to ebbinger_413's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Just wondering guys - This may sound noobish but what's the main difference between vector sigs and just plain RGB sigs? I think i know wha vector means which is kinda like when you zoom it up you won't get the "cube"-like appearance u get when a picture's resolution is too low and it is too small. Vectors are supposed to function in all sizes i believe but i don'tsee how Reaver's latest vector sig looks any different from an RGB sig. Sorry i haven't got a sig now. I would rate Ebbinger's latest sig a 8/10 just because you used another female render and that she looks almost "metallic". The test is too blended in, making the E in Ebbinger look faded. I know its for the effect though, just not my kind of effect. Background looks great with the render. Well i guess that's it. Thanks if you can help me out with my question. -
Flashing For Candy Website Template
evion replied to ebbinger_413's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Like the rest of the other comments i agree that it doesn't look practical for a website. Firstly, in my opinion, there are too many pictures and 56k users will experience some difficulty oveer viewing it. I possible, you could apply it onto a real website then we could make better comments over the template. Of course, I'm still not exactly sure where you're putting where pictures should be and where you're just leaving as a "white"space background. Secondly, we really need to know what the website is gonna be about because that matters the most when dealing with template design.I also think that the pics for the navigation links should be smaller than the logo itself. Overall though, it looks pretty good. If you could change the font for the logo but keep its "tech-like" then it'll look awesome. Great template! Hope you're able to show us a working website using it! -
XBox 360 Released Today! The first 3rd generation Console
evion replied to plot's topic in Computer Gaming
Good profit isn't a word for this - I've went around to many stores and the consoles are all sold out!! I can'tget my hands on a single one of them!! Have to wait till they release the console itself 'coz they've only got the bundles now which are definitely expensive. Arrgh...tough luck...hope the PS3 won't be as expensive - but that would cause much more people to buy it and more "sold out" signs placed in the stores. Alright now I've got no more comments....the PS series rocks anyway. -
First Try On A Real Sig Constructive criticisms welcome
evion replied to evion's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Thanks alot on the comments guys I'll work harder to make my next sigs even better. SM just one comment about your filefront brushes - LOTS of people download them. I had to wait like 20minutes for my turn to download them. I suppose you're very MUCH known to be a great sig-artist around =P. Anyways, thanks for the tips on adding borders but i think I'll go with my own method of adding borders which is to try and error till i get a good one for each different sig. I like change so this is what i am. How did you custom-made your brushes by the way? In Photoshop? Like you did a pattern on photoshop and saved it as a brush style? I tried that before and it worked only when i did it following a tutorial. Although you(SM) said that i should not use filters for the background, I don't really feel comfortable with brushes alone. For right now, my brush backgrounds don't look too natural and i need the help of filters to make it look more real. Other than that, all the rest of the tips are great (everyone else's too!) and i appreciate them. -
Ahh...i see now. I thought PNG was only used for editing files. I didn't realise they can be used as "viewing" image file too. Well..maybe you don't get me but anyways i know how to crop unrectangularly before this but everything i do that and leave some transparent parts out i get crispy edges on the borders of the pic and i realise now its because i saved it as forced transparency as a gif file. JPG doesn't allow transparency and i have no idea of all the rest of the different extensions (bmp..etc). This is great, now i can have transparent images but i believe png extensions take up lots of space don't they?

First Try On A Real Sig Constructive criticisms welcome
evion replied to evion's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Wow...i didn't know there were so much to sigs...heh. Before i learned the "blend" i used to just gradient the render out. Which didn't work as well as blending would because you're limited to horizontal and vertical gradients. I've read through Johnny's tutorial in Xisto about render blending and decided to try it out. I ended up with this: Which is pretty cool. Then i thought about what you said about not making the archer look so transparent and i gave him back his 100% opacity and guess what? It looked great! Now the archer really stands out but the background looks a little transparent which i can't change anymore 'coz i already merged most of the background brushing layers together. (Now that i know about brush sets I'm going to try downloading soem to try it out but I still prefer designing my own brush backgrounds) So now with your help and Johnny's I think I'm getting better at this. My inspiration is all attained by SM's and your work and I aspire to learn as much as i can from you and your sigs. Thanks again! -
I've went to the website and seen some screenshots. I don't see what makes this game so interesting. Firstly, its a korean/chinese game. It kinda reminds me of Dynasty Warriors series if you know what i mean for the playstation consoles. It says its free so i guess thats a good thing. I'm guessing you're supposed to choose a character from the chinese characters list which is kinda weird because there are only warriors and such. They seem to be focusing on more realistic fighting (no magic and whatnot) and MMORPG. The skill list appears to be very short - suggesting the game is still in early beta. (Only 3 skills per skilltype) I think I will try this game out because it looks pretty lousy to be able to last this long on the net and there might be additions to the game that hasn't been added to the guide yet. Looks pretty much like any other game that will become p2p to me though...(Pristontale...good times...)
