Creating A Simple Horizontal Menu Using Css
jlhaslip replied to Mystixs's topic in General Discussion
Go to http://www.cssplay.co.uk/ and look at the Menu demos they have. Most of them are cross-browser and standards compliant. Pick one you like and after reading the author's comments, (some of the menus are restricted), do a view > siurce and copy the code into your page. It helps to have the knowledge of css and html to do this, though. If you need help, start a topic in the html/css sub-forum. -
Super Bowl Xll Who Will Win (colts Vs. Bears)
jlhaslip replied to smarthost's topic in General Discussion
About that "The Bears Suck" thing... there are a couple of dozen teams which failed to make it to the BIG GAME, so do they suck worse? -
Welcome to the Xisto Forums. What are you targetting your phpbb Forum towards? What sort of Community do you intend on building? Are you capable of skinning phpbb forums? Have you seen the new phpbb3? phpbb is available via the fantastico on the cpanel once you get hosted. Please read the rules as found in the Xisto readme files. Most of them concern the issues of spamming (we don't like it) and original content (we like that).Enjoy yourself, learn some stuff here and help others. It makes this community great.

Very nicely done. Excellent Tutorial style and presentation. In spite of the testing which you have done, I would be concerned about the contrasting of the text against the backgrounds, so perhaps the text colour could be modified in this code snippet to blend the text into the chosen background a little bit more? There seems to be too much contrast of the text against the background and although your scanner didn't pick it up, other systems and methods may be able to deterine the text, so altering the colour might be required...? $text_colour = imagecolorallocate($img_handle, 255, 255, 255);$font_size = 5;

Me too...As long as you understand that this process is not terribly 'scientific'... It might be representative of the membership, but it might not be...Surveys like this can be easily skewed for many reasons. An example is that perhaps the females don't want the males to know that they are, in fact, female. So they will not vote, or they will not vote correctly and the results are messed up either way. Anyway, it will be interesting to track the results. My guess is less than 10% are female. Any bets?

Check also at http://www.cssplay.co.uk/. They have a whole variety of drop-down and fly-out menus available. Entirely css and no javascript.

Because we have the Shoutbox, a Tutorial Section, a list of Moderators, and a whole bunch of experienced users who are capable of answering specific questions you might have. There are four good reasons why we don't have any specified "guide writers" on this Forum.Any questions you might need answered can be asked in the appropriate Topic Forum or sub-Forum AFTER you have performed a Search.

Less than 2 days following how long of a Beta testing process? That's funny... XD.But as the article explains, there are several events which need to occur all at the same time, under the right conditions, etc. before the files would be deleted. So don't turn on the speakers when you have the microphone connected. *wait* mine are all built-in ... how do I turn them off???
-
I would doubt that very much. Perhaps you could explain some things , like the url to your site?, and give us some information about which Browser you use, etc. Have you cleared your cache recently? s the site new? perhaps your ISP hasn't updated lately? Perhaps your ISP is blocking the site? Are you checking it from school where they use filters? Also, I will split this question off into its own topic so others can reply to your problem...

Should Languages Be Required For College Programs? Debate it here
jlhaslip replied to BordaForx's topic in General Discussion
When I attended High School, French was required for Grades 9 and 10, so I took them and dropped it in Grade 11. I wish now that I would have continued until Graduation. Since then I have come to realize their value. Not just as a specific tool, but as a general awareness issue. I think the little French I knew was not enough to be truly bi-lingual. I was extremely far from that, as proven over the years as I came into contact with French-speaking people from Quebec, our "French connection" here in Canada. At University, the second language was only a requirement for certain degrees, like Canadian Studies. Or Graduate Studies would have required a proficiency in another language, although German or whatever would have been acceptable, here in Canada, your second language is as likely to be French as anything else. -
Hey, it is deja vue all over again. We have been through these Forum updates and server changes a few times in the last year and a half. There are always a few issues, even though the Admins work diligently to avoid them, they always seem to pop-up. Best advise is to chill for a day or two and let the Admins do their thing. The shoutbox will be back, the Hosting account scripts will be in place shortly, we will all continue to enjoy ourselves soon enough. Let's wish Opaque and BH all the best wishes, (and some luck), while they strive to improve the services available to us. Thanks for all of your efforts...

Menu Buttons Image Swapping (css) Question?..Help please
jlhaslip replied to YSR's topic in Programming
Another method is to pre-load the images into a one-pixel size space on the fringe of your page so when the page first loads, they are pre-loaded with the page and there is a minimal delay when the on-hover state occurs. -

Footer Displaced In Opera And Ie Footer gets deattached from body
jlhaslip replied to BooZker's topic in Programming
I'm getting a 404 page not found error on that link -
Are you getting any error pages? What message is your Browser stating for these times when the pages are not available? Keep track of the messages and report them here the next time this happens. Might be a server error, but might not. There are a lot of links in the chain from your computer to the server and back. The problem could be anywhere. The Error Messages might be valuable in tracking the problem.
