Embedding New Movies Shown On Web To Your Site Is Legal Or....
jlhaslip replied to contactskn's topic in General Discussion
Read the Xisto readme file and you should discover two things.1. Streaming on your site might cause a Server load that exceeds a level which degrades the shared server. This would result in an account being halted since the server needs to be available for everyone. Chat servers are not allowed either, for the same reason.2. Unless you have the copyright, posting videos is another issue which would cause you some trouble with your account. My interpretation only. Admins might take a different view, but I doubt it. -
I have Ubuntu 9.10 installed on this system and one of the new features in this version is a Disk Utility which does a hard-drive check on start-up.I get a warning about bad sectors every time I boot, but so far the system has started okay for me. Download an ISO of Ubuntu 9.10 and dual-boot into it to see if it runs okay and also to see what the results are for the hard drive.I forget the name of the Utility, but I can find out if you need to know.

yes, either of these issues will force a shutdown, but usually there would be some 'noise' caused by the fan attempting to start if there was power to it. This laptop I am running failed the first month I had it due to a faulty fan that caused similar system failure because it would not turn on at startup. The cpu would begin to overheat and force a system shutdown, even before Windows was booted. It took Compaq a week in their shop (under warranty) to diagnose it. New fan fixed it up right away. Similar results could occur if the heatsink was not pasted-in properly. The cpu would overheat. Most 'new' cpu's self-detect the heat and force quit immediately. The psu should be easy to check. Stick a wet finger into a cable connection and see if your hair goes straight up. {just kidding. don't do that.} Have someone with a voltage meter check the output of the psu. The repair should be easy enough. You can likely do it yourself. Are you over-clocking?

bk2070, go back and read the opening post to this topic. pm either galexcd or myself about adding your name to the list. By the way, I just received another 12 Invites... let us know by PM if you want one.

It could also be a bad fan. It is not coming on and the cpu is overheating causing a controlled shutdown.Check the connections on everything, reset the heat-sink as per rvalkass and let us know. Also, consider moving the system back to where you had it to see if it is a fault with the new electrical circuit???

Knowledgebase Discussions Discuss my Trap17 Knowledgebase thread
jlhaslip replied to -Sky-'s topic in Web Hosting Support
I admire your promptness in regards this issue, but let's wait to get a reply from Opaque before this gets out of hand.I have full confidence that Admins will deal with the matter in a satisfactory manner. -
Opaque, (and others) I suggest creating a "Knowledge Base Forum" in the Support and Feedback sub-forum? http://forums.xisto.com/topic/137-support-and-feedback/ The Topic title/description could be the Question and the body of the Topic could be the Answer. Like the Webdesign Forum, the Topics could be set as requiring approval by a Moderator. Moderators could review the Topic, test the answer given, (or confirm the answer at least), then make the Topic visible to the masses. This would reduce the potential for incorrect information, etc. it would also provide a proving ground for the information that could be placed up on the Xisto Knowledge base. Might work???

pretty sure he doesn't need the mycents. He isn't here for the Hosting.

received your PM, but am having some computer issues. I think it needs to cool down some before I can load that file into the editor. Give me a couple minutes here.

Sky, The SQL cluster here at the Xisto requires that the DB name is a combination of your user_name and the DB name. For example, my Cpanel user_name is "jlhaslip" and the Database name is "aef108" so when the SQL command hits the MySql server, the database name should be "jlhaslip_aef108". No quotes, of course, and notice the underscore joining the user name and dbname???Also, there is a maximum length of 8 characters (I think) for the DBname portion of the combination. ie: jlhaslip_12345678So you may need to adjust your DB name in the SQL and the Config file to suit. What package are you installing? Does it ask for the DBname in a config file? It likely requires a User_name, a DB_name, a password, and the Server_name. The Server_name for Xisto is "localhost"

I am pretty sure that all Mac's come with a wireless system. And I also believe that the newer ones, like what you are looking at include the Intel chiposet, so you can install Windows on it. Boot to Windows for gaming and into OSX for the design work.I am pretty sure that all Mac's come with a wireless system. cpanel, fantastico and softaculous, a service like fantastico, but with many more packages to select from and also having more recent versions so you do not need to upgrade a newly installed package to get the newer version with the more recent security patches/fixes. I highly recommend using softaculous instead of fantastico for that reason alone.

I would imagine that there has been a fracture of the geological structure the well is tied into and the underground water is able to feed into the well now. I do not know the location of the village, but is it perhaps in a mountainous region? Has there been recent earthquake activity of even a small degree? Enough to allow seeping of the underground water supply into this well?

That looks like a BOM marker caused from saving a file in an incorrect method using a crappy text editor. The new files should be inspected in a 'good' text editor (ie, not ms word) and re-saved as type: UTF-8 without BOM.Should work then.

I've been using AEF from http://anelectron.com/. Nice, light, fast and free. More features coming soon as version 1.09 is expected any time now.

That was cool. The Mom knew what she was doing, as per the method used to prompt the new-born to get breathing and standing.I have seen, and assisted with, calfing and appreciate the 'smooth' delivery this baby went through.

Some Questions About The Hosting Rules am i allowed for this?
jlhaslip replied to FouGilang's topic in Web Hosting Support
1. An english version of your site must be available. 2. Hosting mp3's and stuff for download which may spark a copyright issue is strictly and specifically forbidden. Period. Copyright infringement places the Server at risk for everyone. -
Do you still have the old Forum on a Server? If so, check the Character Encoding of the original Database.

I have had better luck since moving up to 9.10. I didn't install a bunch of things and also configured it to not load a bunch of stuff on start-up. For example, my XAMPP server and email is not set to start right away. I manually start them when I need them.

Keep track of the things which are running and see if the is a common thread to the times when the cpu is bogging down.Do you allow daily unattended updates? I have found that the Updating will sometimes bog the rig a little bit. Also, heavy javascript/ajax pages in the Browser will bung up the system. Google wave, theweathernetwork and several others come to mind, but I don't know if that is a Browser issue only? not sure if the same lack of response happens without the Browser running is what I mean. I rarely am without an open Browser.

Linux Ubuntu 9.10 offers ext4 file types which eliminates a lot of the issues you are discussing, ie: file sizes. What I don't know is whether Windows can read/use that format? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ext4
