  1. i guess i'm with the majority of repliers here. a mouse is a mouse, if it gets my cursor around easily and comfortably then its fine. mines a microsoft basic optical mouse... had it for years and i love it. it responses fast enough and its smooth, only costs me about $15 too. other than aesthetics, i dont see why you'd go out and buy such a mouse. if i had money spare on the other hand, i guess it wouldn't hurt to have top of the line hardware. i remember seeing headphones of this brand at a convention. people were making an awfully big fuss over them... i just thought they looked cool cause of the glowing lights on them. other than that, my home headphones were on par in quality. ;tif the difference in quality isn't noticeable to human senses... i don't see why one would spend that extra bit of cash.
  2. what advantages does this update have over the original? i'm using an n70 from 3 and its pretty good at what it needs to do. i get a few bugs or restarts here and there but thats only when i'm messing with what i shouldn't be. well it have a speed boost or anything? the lag on n70s sometimes can be really annoying, even though i've become quite acquainted to it.
  3. i remember hearing about this ages ago, i thought the idea died out since there hasn't been much media on it for quite a while now. i found it interesting that they actually used it in some areas; never would have guessed it too be australia haha! its just seems weird to me, we usually have one mainstream method of data transfer and stick to it.i actually thought that the technology was still in development and would some day replace cable/adsl, but now you say adsl with optic fiber is much faster (which is understandable) i'm pretty disappointed. i really wanted HIGH speed (ie. 100mb) data transfer through power lines, it makes a lot of things far more convenient; but then it brings up the matter of networking as well. would we still need hubs/routers to network pcs or would they automatically be networked through the power lines. if they were networked through power lines, then would all pcs be networked? i mean, if u still need to cable your pcs up with a hub, the whole idea of power line internet seems rather un-innovative. then again you could link up your pcs through wi-fi... but wi-fi is rather poor for home networking imo.ahh well, theres still the internet 2 to look forward isn't there? or am i mistaking it for something else? i remember reading an article about it having super data transfer speeds... would that be to do with the actually cabling or protocols used? ;t now i'm just confusing myself.
  4. a ufo flew over your house? i find that hard to believe, but i'd like to believe it because it sounds awesome lol. things like ghosts, aliens (on earth), and other phenomenons as such; i don't really believe. i do believe for sure however, that aliens, much rather, extraterrestrial lifeforms exist on other planets in the universe. funny, when u say 'alien' you depict it as some sort of strange man-shaped creature, but they could look like elephants for all we know. its rather intriguing that there could or is 'intelligent' life elsewhere from earth. if one day we were to encounter such beings, i wouldn't be at all surprised; as unlikely as it is. i never thought about it like that, being teleported to the exact same location in another time. being used so often in sci-fi movies and games, when one is teleported they appear in the same location in another time. that is, the same relative location on the planet, ship, etc. ever played day of the tentacle? that's a perfect example; and a great old-school game if i may say so myself. when you brought up the fact that the earth is constantly moving, it really makes me laugh at time-traveling scenarios. it makes a lot more sense when you put it the way you did. anyway, i see time travel as either traveling to the exact same spot in space, or a totally random spot in space; both of which seem to have catastrophic results for the subjects. ;\ then that gets me thinking of space proof armor and what not, my brain is funny in that sense. better stop thinking zzz.
  5. yeh i've been hammering some long sessions into this game over the psat few weeks. i'm at about 80hrs in, havnt progressed much in story though. with the classes, i've just smacked my mp items on ashe and penelo for now since they have more mp anyway. basch, vaan my tanks and fran balthier my dds. very typical builds, i pretty much left them were they started lol. i was thinking of putting ranged weapons on my casters, it would make fights so much easier. for now, i'm taking a break from it. it really takes alot from u to get anywhere in the game and i just gotten to the point where i need to do something else lol. i reckon once i pop it on again i'll start playing hardcore again ;x
  6. i started playing ffxii the other day and so far its really good. the best battle/equip system thus far in my opinion. anyway, right now i have all my characters with some sort of damaging/hitting weapon so they just mash away at enemies as they please. what i was wondering is whether i not i need some sort of mage/magical character who heals and casts everything.as you get every character they all seem to have a pre-defined weapon;vann - swordfran - bowbalthier - gunpenelo - daggerashe - swordbasche - sword / axei found it strange that nobody started off with a staff. i presumed ashe to be the caster as we got her in the later but when i got her and she had a sword equipped i was stumped. now getting down to the point, is there anybody in particular who i should make the caster? penelo has an usually high amount of mp for a person using a dagger so i thought maybe she should be the one. but right now shes tanking for the party using the main gauche, giving her unbelievable flee for my current level of chars (avg 25 atm). who does it come down to? do i need a staff welder or am i better off just smashing the enemy away with attackers? any advice will be great.
  7. ahhh yes i remember playing ro.. its probably the most addictive of all mmorpgs. well it was for me anyway lol. i'd sit at the pc for hours at a time playing that game, din sleep until early mornings on a number of occasions. i'm afraid that when ro2 comes out, i'll be stuck yet again playing the game. it took me ages to get off teh first one, with the graphics and races in the sequel i cant help but loath it. it reminds me of wow in a sense, but being that it has anime like chars instead draws me more to this kind of game as i love anime rpgs. can't wait to see more info on this game, especially on the other races you can use. looks awesome, really awesome.
  8. right now i'm playing final fantasy xii and its brilliant. i was surprised at how well the graphics came out next to its ffx counterpart, both on ps2. they really are good graphics, graphics i couldnt imagine to be produced by a ps2 actually. taking that into account, the next one being on ps3 must really take things to the next level. i saw the ffvii technical trailer and that looked unreal. the ps3 is seriously powerful. i cant wait for ffxiii and its still trying to finish ffxii lol. i wonder why they made 3 parts to it though, must be a really extensive story... i mean each disk can contain 50GB of data. you'd think they could stick it all on one disk.. but then again theres teh marketing scheme behind it all. ;\ square-enix are rich enough >__> greedy greedy~
  9. hmm... i actually think the armor case looks pt crud. its way over the top and to me, really dam ugly. i'm not too much a lover of led fans either, this thing would light the whole room up at night. i like leaving my pc on when i sleep, so you see what my problem is. if you're comparing looks alone i'd go with the antec nine hundred case, looks a whole lot better than the armor. its downfall is its very old style of screwing everything in place. no clicking all your hdds/dvd-roms in place as we're used to with most modern cases.my personal choice, well the case i'm going to use for my next computer is probably going to be an antec 180. its slick, the interior spacing is great and it gives an overall professional look. if not the 180, my next preference would have to go to the coolermaster cm stackers series. either of the two are nice, alot better than the armor series neway. i've always thought thermaltake to be pretty dodgy chassis manufacturers. don't ask me why, i just dont trust them. love they're cooling systems though, i have a silent tower myself; works a charm.i guess it all comes down to personal preference, i like my cases more simplistic and manageable. putting led fans and fluorescent lights takes it way overboard.. its a case, as long as the parts inside work diligently i couldn't care less how they were stored. although i do consider airflow and circulation.
  10. from personal expierience its usually the player, not codecs. it doesnt hurt to update to latest codecs and players anyway. it'll fix the problem in most cases, the easiest thing to try is prob k-lite codec pack which indludes codecs and players all in oine easy install pack. go try it out somwhere, it should do the trick.
  11. edonkey? i still see more files being distributed on bittorrent than i do on edaonkey. i agree with the above posted quote of irc being the original and fastest though. it really is the fastest way to transfer data from peer-to-peer imo. theres still awhile to go until i see any chance of changing to edonkey though, its just far too slow for me. bt ftw.
  12. i agree with fallenfirebanshi, its most likely a power supply problem. try a different power supply and see if it works, if not then you might have some internal hardware problems. the motherboard may be at its life peak, hell mine only lasted about 2 and half years before it died on itself. before that i had blown my psu twice... they were all below average quality though, besides my motherboard that is. this time around i'm investing in a far better psu to go with my pc. its not worth cheaping out on a quality power supply... but i'm not saying yours is ;p just try and get it checked with another unit first, you might end up replacing the wrong thing otherwise.
  13. i'd go with a 7600GS. it wont play the latest games on the highest quality but it'll do you good for $130. might be hard to find one as cheap as $130, but at my local store its about that. its AUD btw, if you're in the US it'll be much cheaper, you might even be able to get a 7900GS if your lucky. if u can afford the jump to the 7900GS its well worth it. you could say the power of it is almost dbl that of the 7600GS.
  14. 3.4ghz Intel Core 2 duo? at stock speeds, such a CPU does not exist. if you mean that its overclock, then thats a different story. i think the 3.4ghz you are talking about is in fact a Pentium D945. if that's the case, my bet is on the apple in speed. core 2 duos are superior in nearly every way when compared to its predecessor, pentium d. even then, if you are a designer or multimedia enthusiasts (as apples imacs/mac pros are generally steered towards), then the imac is of course the choice over a pc.i could argue that a pc built at the expense of a imac would woop the imacs rear-end hands down, but lets not get dirty here. if you want to play games i'd go the pc. imacs, even with windows os installed on them are not meant for games. the video card provided (7300GT from what i remember) is very low-class in comparison to mainstream gamer cards such as the 7600GT, X1900 and 7900GT, not to mention nvidias spotlight series, 8800XXX.again, the memory and other internals of imacs are inferior to that of pcs due to the lack of updating within their models. pcs are a lot more versatile in that they're far more compatible with the ever changing advancements in hardware technology.either way, imacs are still brilliant machines. if you are a multimedia designer of any sort and want to take a serious leap into the industry; investing in an imac will pay off as they are a standard in this realm. i love using them, not to mention the fact that they look fantastic. if i had the money, i'd own both a mac and pc.btw; i'm a multimedia designer, although i also game hard haha. thats why i still prefer a regular pc.
  15. you're all NERDS. Notice from Saint-Michael: and that is off topic spam, warning issue.
  16. man, i seriously love what this phone has to offer. it looks dam sick, when i bbought my n70 i thought nothing would be better for atleast a year. god how wrong i was, once this baby is released by phone will look like absolute crap. smartphones are getting so advanced its amazing, in a few years times who knows where they'll be. i reckon they'll be taking over pdas and organisers. and one day, maybe even laptops. can't wait till my plan dies with my n70, they'll be a whole new stock of phones for my to drool over. 8E
  17. why is everybody so one sided in the console industry... its either ps3 is crap or 360 is crap. neither of them suck at all, they're brilliant machines. both are heaps powerful and although PCs are still a step ahead who has the money to build say a $1700 machine which has the same power as something a $600 machine has. if u spent your $600 on a PC, it wouldn't be nearly as good as a next gen console.they're very fast and all games will have superb graphics, unlike a pc which has to cater for people worth lower or mid-range pc specs to which graphics look very poor or games just lag too much to even play.when it comes down to it, it's all about personal preference. i wouldn't mind any next gen console, they're all great and if i had cash spare to buy one i'd knock myself out. 360 is great, i love it. but personally, i'd go with a ps3. this is only because more of the games i want are on it. from what i've seen more fps are on 360 whilst the majority of rpgs are on ps3. but hey, 360 still has ffXI doesn't it? oh the choices...
  18. interesting topic... i remember the days without mobiles and the internet. they were still rather livable of course, and although it would impact the world massively if the internet were to fall, we'd get used to it over time, reverting back to older methods of communication.the destruction of the internet itself doesn't seem like its impossible, though it does appear to be an extremely hard task to accomplish. you'd have to take out so many key internet providing points and even then i'm sure there are some secret facilities which accommodate for say, government or military communication. on the other hand, if the internet was used against itself to block/damage communication ports the idea doesnt seem so far fetched. the idea people have brought up about blocking access of overloading data seems like more of a rational idea for a hacker/retard trying to destroy the internet.anything is possible, but i honestly don't think i'll ever see something like this happening for a long time to come. even then, i'm sure we'll other means of effective communication apart from the internet to keep us going on a daily basis.
  19. wow you're married at 19? i turn 19 next year, cant imagine getting married within a year.. thats sooo soon; i have so many other things i want to accomplish before i settle down with someone... i do want to have children while i'm young though. 24-26 i think, i just love kids haha.well getting back on topic, my first date wouldve been last year with my ex girlfriend. we went out for the hell of it really... well we liked each other but it was only a crush, imo anyway. we din last long, maybe 3-4months? ;x i dont mind though, it was a lot of fun and shes a nice girl. xD
  20. ooo that makes more sense now. i thought it had something to do with syncing your to your cpu so they could run faster. so its all about teh duall channeling huh... lol yeh that makes a whole lot more sense then. so whats with the 4-4-4-12 then? is ram faster in different configurations or does it all depend on what type of ram you're using?
  21. did you end up getting this system? i want to know how it all turned out for you. i'm getting a system similar to the specs you provided. how does it go with games? f.e.a.r, quake 4 etc. i'm wanted a system which can last me a few years, except with video cards and the release of dx10, it might make it a waste to spend so much at this point in time. hmm hmm, decisions decisions. why do they have to update hardware so regularly... its good i guess, but irritating for the consumers lol.
  22. i'm getting a new computer in a while; end of the year or early next year. i've been doing a bit of research into the parts i'm getting but i haven't gone into any detail about how each of them will work connectively. one of the things i still don't understand is the synchronization of ram. people are talking about ram being synced in a x-x-x-x-x (4-4-4-12) based formats and it's got me curious to know what exactly it all means. the core components i've decided to get are as follows; Motherboard: Gigabyte GA965P-DQ6 CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo Allendale E6300 Video Card: 256MB Leadtek 7600GT RAM: 1G OCZ DDR2 PC6400 GOLD XTX i decided to go with a cheaper allendale as i'm planning to over clock it to about 2.6ghz. they're good in that sense, cheap are effective to over clock. i was going to go 512MB 7950GT or 7900GT/O but i figured that with the upcoming direct x 10 i'd have to upgrade my video card within a year anyway and so the 7600GT would do me good until the time comes to upgrade it. i'd like to ask for your personal opinion on this, will the 7600GT run modern games with a decent amount of detail or should i just go the 7900GT? i sure hope it's worth the sacrifice of saving that extra bit of money. now getting on with the ram. will this ram sync properly with the rest of my components? if thats what i should even be asking... is syncing ram something that is done after installing it or does it all depend on what motherboard you've installed the ram onto in the first place. i really need some advice here as i can't grasp what the whole of idea of what ram synchronization is. i can't remember at all hearing about it some years ago and now there seems to be strong followings of such procedures. any advice would be great. on a final note, i'd again like some opinions on my system as a whole. would it all work out and last me a few more years? i've set it up to be future ready; having the GA965P-DQ6 with its quad core compatibility so if i ever feel the need to, i'll upgrade it. thanks again, hoping to hear some replies soon. xD p.s. sorry for the long post... i'm really noobie at this sorta stuff haha.
  23. i'm curious to see the outcomes of these two competing mp3 players aswell. i know ipods are great, i don't own one myself but hey if i had the money to cash out on one, believe me i would. it's interesting to see what might happen between these two. i don't think the zunes can store as much as ipods but the screen size and wi-fi capabilities certainly make up for this. i mean, anything above 30GB is plenty for portable media playing imo. even if wi-fi can only transfer songs or stream ebtween other units i think thats pretty dam awesome. if u can share them, i dont see why u cant connect to a server and download them directly, it only seems logical. we'll just have to wait abit and see how both units go i guess, not much longer anyway. i actually think the zunes will do well against ipods though.
  24. hmm.. i think you need to clarify things before you take any action. you can't let things carry on like this if he does actually have a gf. well so far it doesnt seem too extreme but things could intensify and when taht happens you have to know when to back off. it seems as though he is attracted to you, but if he really is seeing another girl its better bad. i'd hate to be his gf in this scenario. you have to think about the effect your actions have on other people too. this is not just about the two of you. good luck with it, i hope things turn out fine for the both of you ;]
  25. if firefox started to flaw or leak in security i dont know what i'd do.. i hate opera >< its so complex, i love firefox's simplistic yet effective operation. anyway, if there were flaws i'm sure they get right on to them in no time. they cant afford to have leaks in their program, so many people rely on firefox ;o
