I like the http://lurk365.com/ site graphics, though I think that you may be able to to more to expand the site instead of a single graphic... I am surprised that it is still alive and on the internet after all these years though... five years... not bad. Unfortunately, I cannot access to silentndeadly.net... I suppose that there is something wrong about it, though I am not really sure what. And I also like your Stormreavers site, though I think there is too much contrast and can do with a different font and more graphics... I don't know why I am replying to this old thread though... but it was in the "Get-new-posts" page... I am just guessing that like someone said, it is halloween and really really old threads are just resurrecting.

Yeah, FouGilang... It seems like putting ads on your site is usually the best way to earn money, even if it is just to keep up your hosting or whatever, but I don't really know why you don't want to put any ads up on your site though. Seriously, research has been done on this by many different sites and no one seems to mind about putting ads up on your site... people are so used to seeing ads that they just have a mental block on whether there are ads on their site or not... Of course, you were talking about visual banner advertisements, so I am assuming that you don't want to put the banners up because it would wreck your site... Well, you don't really have to... because you can use other things like Adsense and Biderviser and all that KOntera, Textlinks and other companies to put adds in your site that will blend in perfectly well. Just my two cents worth.

No worries, you'll learn soon. Just imitate how everyone posts (usually long and full with paragraphs in its very long and all that) and you'll be fine. Yeah, I though that earning myCENTS here at Xisto would be very hard too!!! That is, until I tried and found it incredibly easy. Funny how things work, right? I suppose Xisto is the best example of "there is such a thing called a free lunch". I mean, Xisto is the ONLY hosting company that I have found letting you have unlimited hosting, so unless you don't need that much space, I would really consider sticking to Xisto. :DCheers.
-
Hmm... actually, after some thought, I suppose that there shouldn't be any problems either though... I mean, most of the members here "live" in Xisto according to the rules and doesn't really do much to overturn the tables or anything, so I suppose that there really shouldn't be any problems regarding that at all... :)And Tramposch was saying something about people getting myCENTS as a reward and all that instead of just a graphical picture for a reward if you have won the Signature of the week first prize, and that would be incredibly nice too!!! People will then participate more in the forums, therefore generating more activity, and therefore attracting more attention from the world wide web, and so more people will join in the competition, and them the cycle goes on and on and on and on and Xisto will be very very popular. :(Unfortunately, there is one thing that I don't like in this: I don't like that fact that Tramposch is willing to give up some of his money for that... Shouldn't a moderator of the administrators like Opaque and BuffaloHelp create a system where they just give extra to the person immediate or something like that? But anyway, such a system will be very useful in things like that indeed.

Ah... I see the point... Of course there is also the factor that Xisto gets updated very often, more than five times a day usually, if not twenty or more, and all the posts are of high quality ones, and that is exactly why Google would rank Xisto in their database with a very high SEO...I was just thinking though, I really didn't get truefusion's theory, what with bots and crawlers redirecting pages to Xisto... don't they all redirect to Xisto??? huh?But I see the point where modules and things like that might affect the HTML given on a page... I'll have to be careful about that then... And I'll take a look at the pathauto as well... But thanks for everything, I understand things clearer now... (but that doesn't mean this thread as to stop, of course. I'm always open to new ideas... )
-
Haha, Yay!!! The Tramposch is back to um... "tramp" on the Signature forums????Anyway, yeah, I have been noticing your absense for the past few weeks, though it just seems like days now to me... I was just wondering where the Signature of the Week competitions have gone and why the results of the previous one hasn't showed up yet... but anyway... I'm glad you're back!!!! Though it really does seem like that you will be going soon anyway, aren't you...But anyhow, school and life ans soccer comes first, of course. Don't stress yourself by posting non-stop like I did because that wouldn't exactly help anything, would it? If you got stressed, then you wouldn't be doing any good in school or life or soccer, and therefore it will also reflect on the quality and the quantity of your posting... take a break if you need some time off Xisto and cool off your fingers then... we won't miss you THAT much... :)But I really think that the graphics forum would really come to a halt when you're gone though... It's not like I can maintain something like that. Cheers!!!
-
Anyhow, you've already got your myCENTS up and running and working for you, right??? I'm pretty sure that you have already earned all you need for a months hosting now... Though if you haven't, then I suppose that you don't have to post much... just post lengthier posts (and make sure that they make sense and isn't just junk or spam!!!) and you'll be right in no time as well... :(But I'm glad that you have made your myCENTS worked quickly. When I tried to get myCENTS for the first time, I nearly gave up because I only made four posts and decided to wait for my myCENTS to show up, but of course, you needed five so I vainly checked for the first three days until some one told me that you needed five posts instead of four (just one more!!!) for it to show up. So as you can see, there was much more hassle and all that, but I got there in the end, and now I'm just doing fine... :DGood luck to you though!!! I'm sure you'll do fine too!!! I can see that you are doing fine already though... :(
-
Are you all talking about the graphics section thingy? I don't think that it has been active for a long time at all though... I mean, the only mod member I have seen going about a few months ago is Tramposch, and after hosting like, three signature contests he didn't really come back and tell us the results for that one, so I was just thinking that maybe all the old moderators and things like that have gone somewhere or something like that...I mean, haven't you actually realised? All the members here are either pretty new from a year or two before, apart from a few loyal people like mahesh2k and anwiii, and also a few moderators like rvalkass and jlhaslip, but other than that, you don't see Opaque or BuffaloHelp coming here, often, do you???Hmm... I don't know though... but anyway, Xisto seems to be working fine, so I'm not intending to leave them any minute soon...

Making Money From Games NOTE: This is for Flash Developers Only
Nameless_ replied to Raidation's topic in Business Forum
I am pretty sure that I have told you this before... but my friend, which is very young, I tell you, as young as me, did have experience with making games and then earning money by putting ads in them as you said, but unfortunately I don't know which company she worked for, but I know that she receive 100 USD just for one game... And she learned flash all by herself... now, if you think about it, if a high school student can do something like that, then so can you!!! You just have to have to patience and time to learn everything yourself and I'm sure you'll be there one day... -
Ah... OK... I get the point. So, if I put good quality content in my site and have clean, HTML friendly coding on my site, then my site will more likely to be more like Xisto and do well in ranking and things like that on SEO... I suppose that forums are really really good though... I mean, you know, you can get members to post free things for you to increase your site content as well as your search engine ranking and SEO doing... Hmm... I think that I might make a forum site one day when I get to chance to try it... :)But what are PHP variables and how do you get rid of them... and replace them with clean HTML language? As far as I know, everyone uses open-source (or not) CMS's and things like that, and so while you may look at the "source" of a certain website in your internet browser, there are a lot of things that you cannot see in the background hidden away behind in their cPanels (or not again). How do you make sure that your HTML is clean or not and how do you change it to be if it isn't?

How To Upgrade To Different Hosting Plan
Nameless_ replied to magiccode9's topic in Web Hosting Support
Yeah... like mahesh2k said, things at Xisto is rather easy for a free hosting company, especially since that they have a Xisto - Support and Billing Client Area... so I believe that all you have to do is to send in a support ticket there and I am pretty sure that someone will follow up on your case very quickly and get your plan upgraded in no time... so good luck with your hosting plan though!!!I'm sure you'll find it simple and easy... also, you can also degrade your plan anytime you want too!!! So it works both ways, I think. Just make sure that if you degrade your plan, you'll have to send it in sometime before your monthly hosting plan is up so that you don't have to pay the extra myCENTS that you need... that is because the support tickets are not instant and might take some time (approximately a few hours) to get back and forth for communication...Just a thought though. But anyway, good luck!!! -
Hiya retry56... or should I say elha??? Welcome to Xisto!!! Don't worry, you can get your website in no time, and I am pretty sure that there are quite a few indonesian people around here on Xisto... three, if I remember correctly... But anyway... I'll tell you how to get myCENTS quickly... Firstly, you quickly make at least 5 posts... easy, right? And then you will have to register at Xisto Corporation's Support and Billing Centre CLIENT AREAhere... now, the important bit. Make sure that you have put in the exact same email address when you registered at Xisto forums (here where I am typing now), and then you're done... Wait for a few hours or so, and you will see your myCENTS pop out from under your name!!! Simple, right? I'm sure that you will be able to earn a month's hosting in one day, and maybe a top-level domain name in a week or so, depending on your posting frequency and length of posts... 200 myCENTS equal to two US dollars, and you will be able to see it in your Client area at Xisto Coporations' Support and Billing Centre... Good luck posting!!! I swear, it'll take no time once you start posting... but register first...!!! Oh yeah, and remember to read the rules and FAQ first before you break any rules or you might lose myCENTS... actually, the rules are simple. Just don't spam, don't copy and paste, and be polite and you'll be fine... Good luck again!!!

Hi people...OK, so I seem to be making new threads on Xisto for some time, and what gets me most is that usually while I ask for this forum's member's opinion, help and advice on a certain topic, I will also be searching on the web for information as well... and what gets me most is that a thread that I have just created in the morning before I went to school can be found on Google's FIRST PAGE right after I come back from school...And it is really weird because things like that rarely happen... and what can I say? That google just really really loves Xisto!!! Like I was writing something about a psi ball, right? and then while I was searching for information on that as well, I can see me tutorial on the first page of Google.Another example is when I was asking for custom domain email address suggestions, and when I search for google to see if other forums have information like that as well, what I found is that my thread is not only on the first page of google, but also the FIRST result from google!!! And it all happened in one afternoon!!!Now, my question is this... How does Xisto does that? If I can get my site to be indexed as fast as Xisto is indexed, then I swear, my site will be very popular in no time. If my site has my name as the main thing, then if you search my name on Google, and assuming that I have the same SEO levels as Xisto, then probably all the results that you will get from the first page will be my site...Now, I am interested in how to be as popular in SEO as Xisto... does anyone know what to do? And why Xisto is so good at SEO???

Like rob86, that is what I do... And then I look at the topics that interest me and then I post there, usually rather long posts, and hopefully high quality, but definitely relevant to the topic. I also don't really like bring old threads up, but like jlhaslip said, I wouldn't mind if the replies to old threads were of long and high quality replies either. But however, what I really hate the most is when people bring up old threads and do nothing but copy and paste from another website, or do something like that and just post a one liner... not THAT really gets on my nerve-wrecking side and gets me really really angry... I just don't know why... But usually, if I don't find any threads that I find interesting on that day in the "Get-new-posts" section: http://forums.xisto.com/ Then I will either not post for the day, or I will make new threads, which is exactly what I will be going to do after I post this reply up that I am currently typing now... Cheers... And Happy Halloween and good luck with your Trick-or-treating!!!!

FouGllang, like Baniboy said, you can ask for donations... but seriously, it really wouldn't matter whether there are ads in your website or not, I think. Commercial advertising has been so popular that I really don't think anyone cares anymore whether there are ads on their website or any websites that they are visiting anyway.Other methods of making revenue from your website? Well... I don't know... I really don't know what you should do next. I was about to suggest you to write some content for other websites and earn some money that way, but if that is the case you can just not have a website anyway... so I don't get the point of that...As I said, if your site is very popular, then donations are the best way to go. But don't put the button their if your site isn't all that popular, because the chances are that no one will donate anything and you will just look like a beggar on the internet virtual street.
-
Haha, I agree with FoulGllang, though I must say that you're no longer a really new new person to this forum anymore, right?Hmm... I was just wondering why I might have missed your thread though. I believe that you may have made this on one of the days where I just don't feel like posting of Xisto or something like that. Maybe I was busy...But anyway, welcome to Xisto!!! I hope you will find my rather late post still valid and stuff... Anyhow, you've got your myCENTS working already and I don't think that you seem to be in any sort of myCENTS-not-updating-trouble around here, so, good luck with your site and start posting lots!!!:)Cheers, Nameless... (P.S. Don't worry, you'll get all the myCENTS that you will need in no time, I promise you... A post a day will keep overdue invoices away!!! OK, so that didn't really work out that well... but you get my point... :D)

Actually, I agree with mahesh2k... I seen many of these toolbars on blogs and I don't like them at all, though I actually find the authors and the webmasters of the blogs rather smart insert something like that on their site though... Mainly because I don't think that I am able to do that myself, but anyway... I mean, I don't think that it is the problem of scrolling up and down the page. The thing is, the toolbar doesn't exactly "block: out the scrolling thing on the side of your browser or your desktop, does it? I think the the main problem is that the toolbar just keeps reappearing and stuff and it distracts your from the informative text that you have come here to this website for... And also, it blocks the bottom bit of the text out as well, though personally, when I first saw it, I thought that it was pretty smart for the people that own the blog to insert it into their pages...But yes, it's rather annoying too...So my opinion is, while I think that it is very smart of you do to something like that, I wouldn't put it in even if I knew how to just because it really IS annoying and I think that you would be better off without that poppy thing at the bottom of the page. The toolbar, I mean, not the virtual Weasle...<"Pop goes the weasle">

I AM using google apps... I don't think people really get the question I am asking here... The question is: Okay, so I've got a domain that is myname.com (as in, my real name). I will be having an custom email address. Naturally, the email address will be somethingusername@myname.com Now, I need the somethingusername to be formal (so, not text talk or something like that), like contact@myname.com or hello@myname.com (like what rvalkass suggested and recommended). I am looking for more suggestions. This is my question. For the time being though, I am thinking of getting "contact@myname.com" for the email on my website and "hello@myname.com" for my own personal strictly no-spam uses, but I know that I will find checking two emails at once rather boring, but anyway... I can just use the redirecting emails feature. But I'm just looking for more suggestions.
-
Yeah well... I'm really quite surprised that people are still having problems though. Like someone said... like bk2070 said... I actually think that myCENTS are now updating much more faster and more efficiently, so I really don't see the problem though. I think that it has all taken a good turn and now everything is now back to normal and up and running...But if you still have problems, my friend, then maybe you are the odd one out, or one of the odd ones out and you'll have to contact support and see if they can help you with this. Like someone said again though, it might just be that your emails are different at Xisto from the one that you used when you signed up at Xisto Corporations's Support and Billing Centre though.
-
Hiya technorize!!!I see that you still only have one post. If you want to see your myCENTS, you will need a minimum of five posts... no more and no less. Just make sure that you have already registered in the Xisto Corporation's Billing and Support Client Area before hand with the same email as you did use when you signed up here. If you have done both of them (5 posts and registered), then please be patient because it takes a few hours to get the order and the link processed. Actually, wait up to a whole day for it to happen before you get upset, because the system is sometimes rather irregular here. After that, you should be able to see the myCENTS under your name. If this does not happen and you are getting worried, then please contact the support in your Billing and Support Client Area and send in a support ticket. You should receive help there for more information on this problem of yours...Of course, that is only after you have registered and made your initial five posts first, of course... :)Good luck though!!!
-
Hmm... thanks rvalkass for giving me some suggestions. Hello@myname.com actually sounds pretty good, I think... but I'll check with some other people first before making my decision.Meanwhile, I'll follow yours and mahesh2k's intructions and see if I can dabble a bit in the MX entries bit, though a note to mahesh2k: I'm not really using Xisto Corporation's services, so I might not be able to use most of that... but anyway...Thanks for the feed back. Any new suggestions would be great.(Meanwhile, another question on Google Apps Services: I found the standard edition thing... but I also went to the google apps home page. What is the difference between a educational or an organizational email account? And a coworker and a classmate one? Thanks.)
-
Hiya people!!!Well, the attachment of my name domain has finally worked and you can access to my site now. But however, I won't show it to you people until I work out how to use Filezilla and upload it to the proper folder...And I still need to work out out to install Drupal on it as well...But anyway, this thread is about emails. My domain name that I bought is myname.com, and I am going to have an email called something@myname.com. Obviously, I don't think I can put myname@myname.com, because that is just plain lame and it jsut sounds retarded. So I am asking you guys, the more expertised members of the forum to tell me what you think I should put there as my username in my custom email address and what people usually put.I am thinking along the lines of contact, admin, webmaster and so on. Because I used to have email addresses like nameless1010@gmail.com or something like that (OK, that's not right because I don't have numbers, but that's an example), thsi address is going to be strictly no spam and will given to only people in real life that I meet, especially teachers and older and more senior people, the chances are, I am not going to use things like hotgurl2384 or something like that and use something more formal. What should it be?(P.S. Also, I still can't find the page for Google Apps Services. It said that you have to pay for it, because there is a 30 day free trail. Is this correct? Another question: How to I change the MX entries on my cPanel to fit Google Apps? Don't worry, I'll create a new thread for that if no one replies.)
-
Like everyone says, transferring myCENTS will bring up to a lot of problems, for example, with people having multiple accounts. However, there has been talk about it for the forum signature weekly contests (by the say, speaking of SOTW contests, where is Tramposch lately?), and it might be considered in the future. However, for now though, I strongly suggest you to just keep posting and catch up with the six dollars that you need urgently and make it before the deadline, because when I say "future", I didn't mean in the "near future".But anyway, good luck!!!It's just too bad you can't take out the money that you put into the Support and Billing Client Area into your Paypal though, right? But then, if that was the case then thousands of people will be flocking to Xisto to earn money though...Hmm... this is so hard...
-
There are actually many more alternatives than Xisto and Frihost, I think. I actually found a very good one myself.I'll mail it to you if you PM me.However, a problem came up again when I tried to use Google Application Services for my email address thingy. Does any have the actual address that works? I know that damoon's one didn't work...Also, does anyone know how to configure the MX entries to fit Google Mail? Thanks in advance though...
-
Coooool....OK, thanks for the reply. Well, I have only managed to get my bought domain onto my cPanel as a Parked Domain only today, and it will take around two days to get it properly processed and up and running, so I think that I should be fine... I might check into the Adobe Contribute program though, it sounds very interesting and it certainly looks very useful, I have opened it up though I haven't dabbled in everything around yet...but what I first have to figure out is how to upload and take down files and folders into my cPanel and how to delete them and all that, as well has even if I figured out how to upload them, I still have to find out how I can make sure that it is in the "Public" folder and no where else. But I suppose that will have to go into another thread...
