Cool thanks... well, just to tell you that um... the newathens.org doesn't really work, because it requires me to log in, and my Mac computer has checked its security and told me that they couldn't find a valid certificate, which means that it may be another site pretending to be newathens.org (yeah, with the https), but I went there anyway and couldn't see anything because I don't have an account. I also went to Chawlk, but it just redirected me to 9rules... is that suppose to happen? But anyway... Yeah, so I couldn't see the BBpress forums. But I've seen it before and I didn't really like it that much... I didn't really get GetVanilla, but I went to their community page and I didn't like their layout that much at all... But I liked the look of the Onepress Community and the Bloggingtips Forums, that's what I'm actually looking for... And yeah, I've seen mediumchannel before. My site will be a mix of that, and this. So it'll be a blog on the MAIN site, so that search engines will find it better (I've read somewhere that they like more regularly updated sites than static pages, so I won't have a home page, I'll just put all the information on the about page), and I'll have a easily accessible forum / community site, and have the "recent forum threads and topics" on the front page, just like Blogging tips. I actually like Blogging tips a lot. I really do, they have all the basic layout things that I need, and I just only need to add a sub menu bar under the red bar at the bottom to fufil my needs... And change the whole layout to fit my niche and topic, of course. But now I'm stuck. Wordpress or Drupal? I'll have to take a look at Joomla too... What do you people prefer? I'd like to get some advice too... I still haven't figured a way to get out of the default home page (admin centre) on Drupal on my local webserver, so.... yeah... Wordpress's way easier, I suppose.
-
Oh... really? Yeah, well, I thought that Wordpress was only static pages, because that's what one blog said about Wordpress when I was trying to install Drupal onto my local webserver (which I did successfully without any help from this forum (or any other) by finding a blog and a tutorial myself to follow!!! I'm just so proud of myself!!! ) But I do certainly agree that Drupal is much much much more complicated than Wordpress... however, one certain person said that when they moved from Wordpress to Drupal they really liked everything a lot more better and that they do prefer Drupal than Wordpress... If you can find those community forums and personal blogs (the personal blogs one is optional - I can always let them have their own journal in a certain section of the forum) that you were talking about that is hosted on the Wordpress platform, then please, do give me some examples so I can make up my mind... I do think that it is very hard to move from one platform to another, harder than moving hosting companies and webservers, so I don't want to make the wrong choice from the start. Remember... this is a long term project. I can see myself still working on it in my 20s, 30s, 40s, and maybe even in my 80s. So I'll need to best platform and hosting company ever to host my site. And well, I'll be able to keep up with the hosting costs when I get a job, so that's not a problem. And no, I never knew that Wordpress could put SMF, phpBB and other forum platforms on it, because I've never seen that, but I've only seen BBpress, and the layout's not very good at all, and I do agree with someone, I can't find their name on the posts below, that the BBpress forum can only support small communities, and I don't think I'll have a small community when my site gets more developed, so I'll need an actual forum platform like phpBB and SMF. (Preferably SMF because I like their smileys a lot. ) But yeah, just please show me some Wordpress hosted community sites and I'll make up my mind, though my opinion is leaning towards the Drupal side right now, mainly because I have seen what they can do now, and I like it, even though you require plug-ins for nearly everything and I still can't find a way to look at the actual site and not the administrator centre on my local webserver, I believe that I can conquer the basics of Drupal and survive like I did with Wordpress, though I must agree that Wordpress is way, way simpler and easier to grasp on for newbies... (Like moi).
-
OK... great. So it's DRUPAL that I need, not Wordpress.... OK, yeah, and I agree... you have to download a plug-in for everything in Drupal, but I suppose it IS much better than Wordpress if you want more than just static web pages and an actual CMS with database and all that... OK then, now I'll need to learn how to install Drupal and get a hand on everything before I start. Does anyone know how to install the Drupal blogging / more than blogging website platform onto my local webserver. This is actually quite good, because it enables me to compare the to for future reference, though I am absoutely sure now that Drupal is for me, and not Wordpress... I'm glad that I figured this out early though... it's be hard to change from Wordpress to Drupal after a few months or years of blogging... :(Now I just need to work out how to use Drupal and install it onto my local webserver for testing. Thanks to you guys so much!!!

Dude The Simpleton, I was at your stage of thought just a few weeks ago. And it has just come to me that this is how our society has worked out. You really can't change it. The whole world revolves around money. The whole economic system revolves around money. We work for money. We learn and educate ourselves for money. And we might even be doing our site and stuff for money too!!!I never actually got obsessed with money before. I never liked it. I think that it's very evil. But since I came to Xisto and realised that I have to post to earn money to host my stupid blog and /or website that I got obsessed with money making. And that is just so freaking stupid!!! I only want to make a freaking psychic phenomena development site and I still have to find money to do it. Just to help people out... I hate life... Yeah. Now it's kind of a vent of my own on the same topic as you, The Simpleton.Haven't you realised that every single political debate... well, whether it is political or not is about money? Should we use money on space travel? Should we fund for more schools? More public facilities? More books in public libraries? Should we stop smoking? What will happen to our economy?Blah dila di la Blah blah...It's just plain stupid. But we can't do anything about it, can we? It's just how our society has evolved...

Dude... please look at the date of this thread before you reply... I really don't think that anyone that posted previously on this thread will actually reply to you... But anyway. If you want to ask a question just start a new thread in the threads are like ancient old. This isn't really, but anyway... Deep breathing and concentration are only methods that you utilise and use to help you relax. As I said before in the previous thread that I have mentioned and replied... the basic aim of meditation is the be conscious and not conscious (unconscious to your surroundings) at the same time. By "deep breathing and concentrating" as you say it, but it should be rephrased as "concentration on your deep breathing", it just helps you to not listen and not look, while still catching sound and looking out with your eyes at the same time. But the real thing should be not concentrating on anything at all... So just concentrate on concentrating on nothing. :(

Meditation Dreams? weird dreams encounter
Nameless_ replied to raintearz's topic in Health & Fitness
OK guys... I've been doing a whole year of research on this topic, so I will tell you how it works. (Yeah, because it's part of the psychic phenomena niche that I'm just so extremely interested in.... :( )Meditation is actually when you try to not think of anything. And when I say not think of anything, I mean you don't think of anything. This is the most basic form of meditation. Your hear, but you don't listen. You see, but you don't look. There are many types of meditation methods, and this is just one of them. Meditation actually relies on visualisation, and you can also imagine things to reduce your stress. For example, you can imagine that your whole body is made of (or contains) black smoke and when you breathe in, the air around you is golden good stuff, and so when you breath in, you breath in the golden liquid and when you breathe out you exhale the black negative stuff inside of you...:lol:That's one of my favourite meditations. There are many more, though I don't want to say it all out here so I can leave some for my blog when I set it up... And so I can force you guys and people to subscribe to my blog and get my feeds through RSS.... OK, yeah, I'm just plain evil. But I'm just scared that I'm not allowed to distribute my information onto my blog once that it's up on Xisto. That's the only main problem... but don't worry, the wordings will change. But anyway... :PYou can't meditate when you sleep. The point of meditation is to reach the waves of near sleep (delta) and reach a level above it (it's theta, I think), and stay there while you're still conscious. It's easy to go to sleep when you meditate, but that's not the point of meditation. The point of meditation is to stay awake and yet on the brink of falling to sleep. And you're conscious, but your subconscious is also awake...It's pretty hard to explain...God, I wish my blog is already set up... :( -
I must say that while that is probably not very accurate, people (that don't know much, I suppose), might actually will check on that to determine how much they will pay you, so it will do you no harm in actually trying to get that number up, though of course don't use and waste up all your energy on that when you can be gaining more visitors... What's your website anyway? I thought that it was Xisto? Or is that Opaque's? Don't you two share this site anyway? You're both the admins... Wow... I'm not surprised though. I've actually seen your site, and I must say that it is just so extremely good... I like it a lot, I must say... but yeah... You may be right. I personally don't think that the "value of your site" that these websites talk about are actually extremely accurate. The best thing will be actually talking to a potential buyer or a friend and ask them how much they would be willing to pay for that website... though I don't really see the point in selling your website either... it's too good to sell, and after all, why sell it after all the work that you have gone through trying to get traffic and visitors and maybe even members to your forums??? But anyway... I hope that when I do my forum there will be good people on so I can choose mods and stuff... Saves me a lot of work.

Sorry guys, I've been away for two days hiking and stuff, and now my feet are dead... literally. But anyway, I just came back today, took a nice shower, and I'm ready to be back on Xisto and enjoy the comforts of technology that I have had taken previously for granted!!! Time to answer my threads and my posts (and other threads and posts too, of course). Um... not that good, really. It's all so technical and all that, I really don't know where to post or anything. I've only posted like on two threads and they're like the most not technical threads on the forum itself. The thing is, I couldn't find a question forum place to post my technical forum questions at all, and so I would very much prefer Xisto as my main mYCENTS earner... So yeah... not very far... two posts. Mostly because I don't know how to join in the conversation at all... everyone's so technical... But Xisto is boring too... :( As I have said... or from my reply to The Simpleton, you can infer and assume that I have already joined Xisto... everything's so technical, I really don't know where to start. Which is why I've only got two posts so far, as I don't want to spam and I really only want to contribute to the conversation... So it's not really working well, you can say. Xisto's better, but Xisto is unblocked my the government where I am.

OK... so I think I've got a FTP account then... though I don't really know how to check whether I've got one or not... I don't think I've got a SQL Database account though... shouldn't everything just come together? Why are there so many different accounts that you have to sign up with???OK then.. so anyway... how to I get a FTP uploader program? Can I just download it from the internet? And are there any recommendations? The weird thing though is, I don't at the least feel turned off by this cPanel's complexity or anything... it just feels like I've got an adventure coming and I'm ready to learn everything... I mean, if I can learn to set up my local webserver by myself, then why can't I conquer the cPanel???Must be the support of this forum's members... Or I'd give up ages ago... but anyway. So I need to find a FTP program so that I can upload my sites onto the webserver... on the cPanel Platform, that is... so, what you you people use? And also, because you have to upload it up, I am assuming that you have to work on it off line first before you put it up? So that's where programs like Dreamweaver and Aptana and Frontpage come in... Ah... OK.But I don't really think I need that because I'll be using the Wordpress platform. But I need it to be customisable so it allows people to log in and stuff... Is this possible or do I have to approach in in a different angle /approach? Because I don't want to be blogging and when I get enough traffic and visitors find out that wordpress is not customisable and I have to start everything all over again so I can put in a community.Any help on that as well?
-
Well, if that's OK with you... I won't mind having one... well, I don't have any donations on hand though. That's why I'm starting my blog in the first place... to earn some money online from scratch. I don't even have one cent on me... that's giveaway-able, of course, because I can't transfer myCENTS to you, of course... So yeah, if you think that you can space some scripts on someone like me I'd be extremely grateful.... If not, well then... thanks for everything anyway... And your friend knows how to script? Do you think that are any free scripts out there on the internet? You never know.. you might want to check into that first... (Oh, and I'm just purely retarded and stupid: What are scripts anyway?)

Hi guys... I think it's time for another questions from me... again... So, as you may or may not know, I have created a free hosting account (absolutely free with no post counts) to see what everything is like, and maybe it I like that hosting company a lot I might stay there, though I will be using the myCENTS here to host my domain name... So, that webhosting company has emailed me the link to my cPanel, and after following the start wizard on cPanel, I followed the prompt instructions and went back to home... And then I'm lost... There's so many files so many folders, mails and stuff, I really don't know how to do everything... First questions first... How do you upload web pages??? Because They were like, you have to have a FTP account and you have to make one somewhere, but I don't know where, and even if I know how to upload static files and pages I will still need to learn how to upload the wordpress folder up there, and how to then change it into a community (that comes later), but I need to make sure that everything works and that I WILL be able to change the blog so that it still does the archiving function AND let people into my site so I can make a community that: 1) Lets people join in forums... this is a must if I am to want a community. Forum is first priority - it enables discussions and all that. 2) Lets people post under their name on approved articles??? I don't know how to do that, or even whether it is possible, but it's be nice, so I don't have to post it up myself under my name and say that this article is actually written my someone else 3) Lets people that joined have their own profile page and hopefully a blog??? I think that that will then widen the content generation so people will blog for me (on their profiles, of course), and I can hold competitions and the best article can go on the main website... 4) Um... hopefully having a merchandise area or an affiliate shop so people can buy my niche stuff off from me or from affiliate shops like Amazon??? That's all for now, I don't want to get too greedy, but if possible I would also like to ditch the traditional blogging templates and come up with one that doesn't look like a blog but actually IS a blog... So the archives will on on the menu and not on the sidebar, and the side bar will be small and contain only ads and links... And yeah. But first things first... What is a cPanel and how do I use it?

Hiya!!! Welcome!!! I'm glad to see you here, mariobros... do you like gaming? (I'm talking specifically about the Mario Brothers - your name gives it away... :() Anyway... this is a web hosting company, just to let you know. It helps you host your website(s) up onto the internet. But it's all free!!! Lots of other companies make you pay, but this is free... with a cost. You have to post to earn money. Easy huh? See the red "myCENTS" under our names? That's how much we have earned... well, in cents. After 100 myCENTS you will have earned 1 USD... The 100 myCENTS will be deducted from under your name on this forum and transferred to the company's client area, so if you want to earn some money (it can only be used for web hosting though, and only on this company), then sign up here with the SAME email that you have signed up here (at Xisto). The email provides the link between the two different accounts of different sites... If you're not looking of free web hosting, then just enjoy this community. It's very fun and very friendly, and people always answer your questions, no matter how stupid they are (or how stupid it seems to them). Enjoy!!! Oh, and remember to read the rules... but I can just sum it up in four words, I suppose: Don''t SPAM! Don't PLAGIARIZE!!! And that's pretty all there is... But remember to sign up though.

Dude... it was always said that the .tk domain name provider always put lots of ads on your site... too much to generate good traffic and an audience... if you are really serious about your website, get posting here on Xisto and earn $14 USD a year to get your free domain. It's not hard. I earn way more than that in a month... so you'll earn way more than that in a year too... maybe enough to last you a few years of not posting before you have to come back again...So yeah... Like I said, I do prefer .com domains... And they do better in SEO and make your site rank higher in search engines too!!!

Yes... just a thought, akira550... you might actually want to set up a local webserver on your computer and test out your blog first before you put it online on the internet though, like what I have done. For me, I use a "MAMP", it took me ages to set it up, around a week, I suppose, but that is only because I used the wrong programs and it didn't install properly. A local webserver is like a proper webserver with unlimited space (well, as much space as there is on your computer), and like it is similar to Xisto, actually, just the same, and you can host your own websites, but it will not be available to anyone on the internet online but only for the people that use your computer and find the files and know how to set it up. There are, as far as I'm concerned... three main local webservers... Xampp, WAMP, and MAMP. I have tried downloading all three on them, though only MAMP worked... I spent like a few days searching up the best local webserver, tried downloading Xampp (it worked), but I could install it properly because there were files missing in the download, then downloaded WAMP, except that it was in an .exe format, meaning that it was only for Windows, so I tried MAMP and after one attempt I have successfully installed MAMP, and then three or four unsuccessful attempts I have finally installed Wordpress onto the local webserver successfully... but that wasn't me, it was only the tutorials that I was following... and it worked. And now I can test my Wordpress blogs without even having to use a proper webserver like Xisto at all and waste my credits. It's really cool and quite useful, I reckon... I like it a lot... You can experiment there, and if you stuff things up you can just reset your webserver or throw the Wordpress folder away and create a new one, configure everything (takes less than a few minutes, it's really simple), and get started again!!! (though you might want to copy your template files, of course... ) It feels great explaining things to someone and not asking for explainations for the first time ever... Though I'm not sure if you know all this already... Oh well, at least I feel good knowing how to do SOMETHING... mainly thanks to mahesh2k, TheDisturbedOne and other mods and people. But I'm sorry, I don't know how to change the .htsaccess file on Wordpress on a proper webserver. The files just in my (on my) computer on my local webserver folder, so it's easier for me. Maybe you might want to work on it on a local webserver and then upload it onto the Xisto webserver? Just a random thought and my two cents worth. And I'm sorry for the second time, I don't know what permalinks are, but if it has stuff to do with SEO then I'm extremely interested... in what other proffessional people have to say on this matter...
-
Woohoo!!! Nice... glad to see that you've purchased your site already... I still haven't. You're faster than me!!! I'm still thinking of a good domain though... I personally thing it's very important to the future of the site :-/ But anyway... Great work though!!! Can't wait to see how it will turn out like..... And you're pretty active too. Told you you'll earn the 2USD in no time...

Get A Free Domain An easy way of Getting a free domain
Nameless_ replied to junaid's topic in Websites and Web Designing
It's offline now... I personally don't think these sites actually last a long time... And oh yeah... it's my first post!!! Yay!!! -
Yeah, sure... I'll join... it's the same thing, I suppose, and I might be able to learn more technical stuff on Xisto than on Xisto, since Xisto has more proffessional members in webhosting than Xisto... though I must say that the latter (Xisto) is more friendly... the only problem is seeing whether they will be a hospitable and friendly as Xisto for a noob like me... Oh well, my mum calls it "dipping into a new sauce", in this case a new environment. So if I join there and hang out, then I 'll be able to pick up some of their "sauce", in this case, techincal and techonological knowledge on the way... So, why not? If they turn out to be unfriendly I can always come back... :( THough I would highly doubt that if the Xisto moderators like jlhaslip and stuff are there... Yeah well, Trap is more friendly too, I suppose. And that's why I joined here in the first place, though you never know... and no, I won't need to keep up with the same amount of posts on both forums... I just need to earn some myCENTS there... Xisto will always be my main forum, of course, not only because you can earn myCENTS for a lot more huge variety of topics, but also because the members here are much much more friendlier and helpful than technical forums, I suppose... And who would want to explain what basic stuff like CMS and databases are to a newbie anyway??? Not proffessional people, of course... And well, there's really nothing to do on the school's computer at all but play games in the "share" drive... or read your school email. Most of the sites are blocked anyway, so I'll be posting at Xisto and learning stuff like PHP and CSS and HTML on w3schools.com... that's another of the rare sites that aren't blocked... a miracle!!! :(
-
Ah... so, what are you doing here? Are you trying to build another website again? Or are you just looking for free webhosting? I don't really know, because your presence in this forums kind of contradicts with your post there just now... but anyway... I just thought that you would like to know that things never ran smooth in life. If you try again and again without going off your track (which I go off track all the time, so it's not really in my position to say...), and that you keep your goal in sight, you might never succeed in the market terms, but you will have done your best. And trust me, you will succeed in the end, if you prevail. So if you are here at Xisto looking for free webhosting to your build your business website, then I must say that this is very good of you, and I urge you to try and try again, even if you fail. You must fall to stand up again. And yeah... I'm on my goal too.. About the rat race thing, I disagree with you. Even if you live out in the country, you are still in the rat race at heart. I personally think that there is no way out in the rat race. Life IS the rat race. I was plunged into the rat race the moment I was born. I'm sure you are too... for me, I was plunge into primary education, now on secondary education, and then I'll go to university, get some phds and high ranking degrees, find a job, and do the same thing everyday until the day I retire, climbing up the corporate and /or business ladder, and then when I retire I just wait for death. WHile you may not be in a business and climbing the orporate and /or business ladder, I'm sure that you are still doing the same thing everyday, over and over again. To me, this is the rat race. And with you talking about making money, whether online or offline on the internet, I can still see that while you are not where the heart of the rat race (the city) is physically, and living out far into the out back country, your heart is still in the rat race. You are still finding ways to earn money for a living, and you are still trying to set up your own internet (or not internet) business... Correct me if I'm wrong. But I think that everyone's in the rat race. There's no going out, there's no escape. And I'm certain that everyone with a computer that has internet connection is already in the rat race... Just like me. No escape.

I never like birthdays at all... not even when I was a kid... which I am still now, but like, when I was seven or something... I never really like it. When I was really really small though, like when I was four I could tell that the day has a certain significance in it. It just feels different and special... but now I don't. I don't even want a present, though my mum and dad always insists in getting one for me... I just... really. I don't even want a present. My dad brought me an iPod once, and I was like... I never even wanted an iPod. I don't get why anyone would want an iPod. Like, a pencil would be sufficient. If my dad gave me a pencil or a small notepad I'd be way more excited than having an iPod. Really... it's just so annoying. But that wasn't on my birthday. I always get a watch on my birthday... and so I've got lots of watched thrown everywhere around the house, and the thing is I don't even wear a watch now, though I used to... it gets in the way and they're really expensive watches that's made from metal and stuff... And I'm like, No!!! I only want a pencil, or an eraser, or a notepad, or just nothing at all!!! I don't even want to celebrate my birthday, which of course, my parents will insist in celebrating it. I sometimes don't even know it's my birthday until someone, usually my brother points it out to me... I think that I need less stuff, not more stuff, so if someone can throw something out of my bedroom every time it's my birthday I'd be extremely happy too, mainly because I'm not the one throwing it. But yeah... in short, no, I don't like birthdays.

Hi people once again... OK, this might sound trivial, but I was just wondering whether I should join the Xisto forum or not. The thing is, I get to school right, and everyone's like playing all these games and all that, and I'm like... No... I want to work on my site and maybe earn some credits for my hosting package, but for some strange reason, the school educational government blocked the Xisto forums in my school and lableled it as "Forums/Discussions" (yeah, the school educational government technically blocks everything that is deemed as "not educational"... even when you search "flags" for your geography lesson the government blocks it as "uncategorised"... not that you are watching unsuitable and inappropriate stuff by looking and the colour of flags...) But anyway, back on topic. For some strange reason, however, Xisto ISN'T blocked... and I was browsing though the Xisto site (the site, not the forums - yes, the sites unblocked too) and I found a "begin you webhosting journey here" (you can reach the walkthrough here) and I found out that Xisto isn't blocked, though it is mainly for technical geeks and all that, and you don't get myCENTS for posting about non-geeky related stuff... like love and sports and all that that you are given credit for in Xisto, and I was rather intimidated by the professional "coding help" and "programming software" and all that, because I'm not like that and I don't want to make a fool out of myself... Because if I'm a fool here at the more friendly Xisto with all my questions, I will most certainly be a "nooob" in the more technologically advanced Xisto forum, and the fact that I couldn't find any Xisto members that are here on that Xisto forum got me very worried... But Xisto's blocked at school and Xisto's not... So, what do you guys think? Should I create an account there? I mean, I think it's best to make one anyway, but I don't want to be those inactive people that just hog an account that takes up space and not do anything to contribute to the environment or threads and stuff... and I personally think that it is these people that crash webhosting companies and all that because of all the space taken up that isn't usefully used... What do you guys think?
-
Wow... everything sounds so efficient... Yeah, well, Xisto sure do have an efficient team sometimes. Depends on the members though. We don't have a lot, so that might have some impact on that, you see....But anyway... good luck with whatever you have to do that doesn't allow you to do your website, livepcportal!!! I'm sure it's quite urgent, and maybe more important too (well, definately way more important than building your own site...), so good luck with whatever you want to do and I wish you the best!!! (OK, now it just sounds like you won't be here at Xisto anymore, which isn't the case, I hope? But if you have ordered a monthly plan before hand, like a few months ago of something, then remember to back up all of your site - the files, the FTP server, the database, the CMS, if you have one of those before you cancel the package!!!)
-
Ah... OK... I get the point now. The question now is only my domain name and what to call it. I've got a good idea though I won't be attracting many visitors to my site that way... I'll PM it to you if you want... And I know understand the www. thing now though... but it's the same domain right? So you can't buy the without (or with) www version depending on which one is taken... ahhh.... said. And yeah, I don't really understood a word you said there, but I will be buying a hosting either from here at Xisto or a free (totally free with no posts required host) and start from there... I might actually go with the latter, though I will be posting most questions here. And yeah... so it's a psychic blog that I'm working on. And oh, I've changed the Newstack site a bit, by the way. It's still on the blogspot sub domain name though... But anyway... hope it'll be easy to configure...

Wordpress Plugins which one do you use??
Nameless_ replied to MusicOnly's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Well, this is out of topic... well, not really, but it won't be contributing anything to the thread, but just the user since I don't know what plug-ins are...If you want to customise your blog though, I suggest you to download a free or a premium (paid) template and then change it from there... but this is first problem that you have to fix. I don't think that you have linked your domain to the host quite well, because the link to your site doesn't work. So before you customise your site or anything like that first I would strongly suggest you to make the domain link work...And yeah... I mean, no point in customising the site in up random visitors can't even get to the site, right?
