  1. Aw... what!? Hmm... I don't know then. I did try Joomla!, and I've seen that most of the sites that people have here does use Joomla! And it looks very good! But I just can't seem to make the archive function work at all... and that's a problem, and I couldn't find a good template that I can customise either, so that's rather bad for me... :-/ And since I won't get a lot of help on Xisto... yeah, maybe I'll have to go to the Drupal forums and ask around... and maybe Xisto too... they seem to be filled with technical people, and they might be able to help just as long as they don't bombard their posts and replies with technical words and such. But Drupal does seem to be way easier than Joomla though. But how people can customise things to the fact that they don't even look like they were made on a platform is really just beyond me. How do people do that??? (Quick question: Is Drupal and Joomla what they call a CMS platform?) I did try Filezilla, it didn't work on my Mac, even when I downloaded it. I think that this is because my Mac is on a version that has been broken and reloaded again. My father installed Photoshop CS4 for me, and then my computer crashed. And after he reloaded it, you can tell that it is on a different version because the dock appearance is different, and since then there are many programs that I can't use anymore, like Garageband and iPhoto that I could use before - and so does the things that I download. I'm sure that Filezilla would work if I knew how to use it... And thanks for the reply!!! Yeah well, the whole point is that I couldn't get the Filezilla program to work. I tried, and it downloaded perfectly, but it doesn't open at all, and as I say previously, I believe that somehow or rather my computer has been "backtracked" to a previous version and so many programs and softwares that I have doesn't work anymore at all... If I can somehow update my computer as it was before without crashing my computer again or wiping out Photoshop off my computer then that'd be good. But thanks for replying. Instead, I have downloaded Cross FTP. I found it when I was searching for Filezilla alternatives, and it was coined as "easy for the amateur web master to grasp". But even when I downloaded it, I still don't know how to use it (it works though). And I believe that it is pretty similar to Filezilla. If anyone knows how to use that then that will be great, but as far as I can see, all the tutorials are on Windows and not on a Mac, and they look quite different, it's hard to grasp...
  2. Well, as far as I know the government does block websites in educational systems... But they don't only block social networking sites (To The Simpleton), they also block educational sites like "Flags of the World" when you search on Google, which is pretty stupid if you ask me, because they are all listed as "Uncategorised". For mahesh2k: I don't think it's the problem of your ISP either... ISP are meant to provide the internet as a service to you. Why would they block proxy sites then? I mean, none of out other ISP block proxy sites... so maybe it's something else.
  3. Yay!!! Another reply!!! Thanks The Simpleton... :PYeah well, even if it's a useless reply I would be really happy anyway because I got one... and I'm so very happy right now, you don't know how good I feel... :PBut I didn't realise that not a lot of people use Drupal on this forum. I actually thought that it was the most popular form of platform that people use...But then I don't know... what do you usually use then? Joomla? I couldn't get the archive thingy to work, so I stayed on Drupal instead and I actually like it, apart from the categories and tags part. But it's working really well at the moment. I guess I'll just have to wait for rvalkass to come in and tell me how to do stuff and it seems like he's the only Drupal expert here (I know that mahesh2k is a Joomla one). But yes... I think that it's a rather good experience for me though, people not replying is actually making me look for more information online, though I don't know about you, it seems like the information sites that other people give you always seem to be better than the ones that you find yourself...And I still can't find ways to add categories and sub categories and let you tag, and I've downloaded dozens of modules that claim to provide this feature. And since Drupal is meant to be the best management system platform, I really can't see how Joomla would be able to keep up with that, if it is not the best and goes more on design. I'm personally looking for functionality. But I still can't find ways to add categories into the site...But thanks so much for your reply... it feels good to be noticed. (P.S. Does anyone know how to use FTP uploaders? I'm trying to upload my site to my host to see how things go but I don't know how to use it...)
  4. Wow... what's with all the fast replies for this thread and none for the Drupal ones... I'm sad.... But anyway... cool... after reading your replies, I when to several proxies and found out how they work... and hey, they're really good!!! But why would you want to make your own proxy site anyway? I really don't understand that, especially if there are many other proxy sites around that works. But yeah, I'll try google translate and see how things work when I get to school again (yay!!! It's the school holidays!!!) But anyway, do you think that it will be possible to use a proxy on a page, like http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ ??? Because if that is possible, and if it doesn't take a lot of space it would be cool to try and make one and see how it works behind the scenes. But anyway... I still don't understand why people keep making proxies if one works (in which I have seen none could bypass the filters) and make a personal one for personal use when there's a lot out there?
  5. Hi people, So, for the second time in my life I was browsing the Xisto's forums for information of Drupal menus and stuff because no one actually seems to want to answer to my thread(s) and I came across a proxy thread telling you how to make a proxy. But many of the replies stated that proxies get banned at schools and universities anyway, and my questions is this:"What is the purpose of making or using a proxy site if they get blocked in the first place?"I have actually tried it at school, and they are blocked because that are categorized as being "anonymizers", and I mean... OK, I had a whole list of proxy sites, and none of them worked, because they are all blocked!!! Now, if schools and universities can just block proxy sites, then what is the whole purpose of having them in the first place? If they are not blocked as a proxy site where I live, then they are blocked as being "uncategorised". So unless a proxy site can get pass the filter and become an "educational" site, and somehow then changed later on and become a proxy site, I really don't see the point of making or having or using one in the first place. What do you people think? Any ideas? I really don't even know what proxies are, except for the fact that they are used to bypass filters like the ones that they set up in educational environments... Maybe they are just used to erase your history or something like that? I don't know...
  6. I complete agree with the members of this forum here. I mean, I really don't get the point of having a Digital Photo Frame... they just cut out bits of your picture, and I don't think that it looks all that realistic and good. Well, OK, I get the point. It's not meant to be realistic, but take it this way. A real material photo frame actually protects the photo and makes it stand up.It is for memories and such. But a digital photo frame, on the other hand, doesn't exactly do anything but cut out the edges of your photo and replaces it with some random rubbish pattern and it doesn't even make the picture stand up properly, nor does it protect the picture from anything... it's just the same photo, technically, that is degraded.I mean, why would anyone want to pay for a digital photo frame so that they can cover up the background, if not the people or main content in their photos. To me, it's just well... pointless, you might say...
  7. Apparently co.nr doesn't work anymore. I mean, they do, but they are now not taking anymore new websites into their system...I checked last time and it's true. They've been rejecting people for more than a month now, and you can tell that they are not updating anything or rather because they don't have a post on it in their news page. So they might have run out of resources, thought the sites that are using co.nr are still working with their domain name.
  8. Actually, ditch all this SEO stuff... I have read a book that said that while you may get visitors to your site, more often than not they will just get out of your site as quickly as they came in with the "Back" button in their browser. It's as easy as that.If you really want visitors to your site, you should go to our niche's websites and forums, contribute there, gain a reputation and put your website's link in your signature. It's a really good method of gaining visitors, and people that go to your site through there actually want to go to your site, unlike people that come in through Google that doesn't really know what they are looking for.Of course, SEO is actually quite important if you want the occasion Tom, Bob, Harry or *BLEEP* (I don't really know this saying) to join into your site, but the main and the best way of getting visitors is to post at other forums, and post in them regularly...Apparently the website domain name doesn't really matter either, though it may do you some help... But as you can all see, Amazon.com did beat Books.com, and so, the domain name isn't always the most important.Just my two cents worth. :PBut I think that there is a site where you can index your site in fourteen different search engines. I really don't know which one it is though... you might want to do a search on that and check it out...
  9. I think they do.... if you use Drakes equation you will see that there is a high possibility of aliens existing in out space, but because of the vastness of the universe it is hard to pinpoint the exact location. Also, some people have claimed to come in contact with them through APing, so you never know, really.
  10. Hey, that's pretty cool...Does anyone know how to make those blogging things where they show two different lists in the same space? It's where there are tabs and you just have to click on a different tab to get to a different list. It's very convenient, and I want to know how to do that.
  11. Yeah, I agree... it's is pretty distracting. If you want the animation to work, I suggest subtle animation, not the big flashing "Look at me!" sign that I see right now. Other than that, it's pretty good.
  12. Yeah, I'm looking for something like that as well, I've been posting at Xisto forums and no one seems to be replying, so I might make a thread on it somewhere...
  13. Cool, nice!!! I personally just use the default browser that is given on the computer, though I suggest that if you want to test out your websites, you should do so on Internet Explorer, mostly because it is highly not compatible with your scripts and that there is often a "if" function that you have to put in just for different internet explorer versions like for "IE6" and "IE8"...Of course, if you just want to browse the web without any hassles, then I have to say that Mozilla Firefox is the best because it supports all the latest functions like "blink" in CSS and so forth (wow, I think I sound pro, though I vaguely know what I'm talking about right now), so maybe the extra RAM and diskspace that it takes is worth it?I'm currently using Safari though, and apart from the regular Xisto automatic log out, everything else works fine.I am, however, unable to tell you how the Avant browser and the K-melon browser that mahesh2k said works because I haven't exactly used it before, but you might find it to your liking. :PGood luck in finding the perfect browser!!!
  14. Yes... I know... I really don't know why though. People are just that selfish. They won't do anything until something happens to them personally, like the death of a family member, or if they have something from themselves... Take, for example, a family that smokes. Suddenly, someone gets lung cancer. A few traumatic days later, that person dies (let's not talk about gender to prevent subconscious prejudice). OK, so the whole family stops smoking. Or maybe at least smokes less... Now, we all now that on every cigarette and smoke packet, there is a health warning, often a with a very disgusting picture of what they will look like if they don't stop. We all know that there are many countless campaigns to help people stop smoking, including the Kidsline, Helpline, and government advertisments and so forth. (Indonesia is not in this list.). And yet people still smoke, take up smoking, or introduce smoking to their friends. And yet why don't stop? WHy do they only quit or cease or smoke less and take some action after something personal happens to them? Let's say YOU'VE got lung cancer. You survived... and let's say that you were a smoker before. The chances are, you'll quit. Or at least try to. Or maybe smoke less, and so does your family members. It's still the same. People won't take action until something personal happens to them!!! And while this is about smoking, it is actually the exact same thing for global warming. It is happening everywhere around the world. And yet the country that contributes most to Global Warming doesn't take ANY action at all... they introduce Carbon Reducing Campaigns, etc, but what do they really do? Nothing!!! But it is now affecting third world country places like Phillipines. And I know that if they could do something to stop that, they will. But they can't, because there isn't a lot of electricity usage. Many people go without internet connection in the Phillipines. But in America, lots of people do. And the people in America that are generating all these carbon emissions from their pointless electricity consumption... the consequences are all going towards the hopeless third world countries like Africa and so forth!!! STOP ALL THESE POINTLESS ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION AND HELP SAVE THE WORLD!!! God... Sorry, serverph... I'm not in America, but I can't help feeling negative about them.
  15. Yeah... and have your realised that most of these cities are actually third world countries that are still developing and consists of lots of poor people ? And did you know that the main contributor to global warming is actually America, and they haven't even signed the Kyoto Protocall, with Australia following it...I just can't believe how selfish some people just are... the world is dying, there is no doubt about it, and yet there are still companies that are at the stake because of this trying to buy so-called fake scientists to change the results and the outcomes and make it seem like there is a debate going on about the existence of global warming between the scientists and I must say that I am just so, so, so disappointed in all these companies...God... it's money or the whole planet. And what do these company want? Money!!! But if you think about it, if there's no planet, if there's no Earth, then how is there money? We cannot make this go on, we cannot push out responsibilty to the generations to come. Because if that is the case, then we are selfish, we are immoral, and we deserve to be dead. But there are still companies out there that are hiring frausters to create this commotion, this doubt that global warming isn't real when ALL the evidence points the the fact that it IS real. And we can see it now - glaciers melting, ice shelves breaking off, more land appearing inland, coastlines disappearing to rising sea levels, extreme weathers, etc, etc...And of course, if you think about it, all these companies are in first world countries, not third world countries, and the fact that these rising sea levels will affect the third world countries won't bother them at all, because it does not affect them. Not for the time being anyway. They will only move, they will only take action when it personally affects them, and by the time rising sea levels affect america, it will be too late,Past the point of no return. And what will they seek then? More money? Or their survival? Their meagre lives?I hate greed
  16. Haha...There is always a day when gamers think that they could create a better game than the one that they are playing at the moment and decides to make an online game. I know that I've been there. But faced with CSS and C++ programming, Javascript and PHP, I have given up after a week of searching and learning...I was only in my primary schooling in those years... and so I have contented myself with creating a blog that is still in progress and still needs advice (someone answer my threads!) and I have temporarily, if not permanently ditched this dream of mine so that I can learn the basics of web site hosting and making (like a blog) before I come back to that game dream again, if I am ever going to make one...It's actually pretty easy once you get started and have a community. You just have to assigned some people to become admins and moderators, and then you can just ditch the game and let it run for it self...And you can of course, earn from it if you want, or just get enough money to keep up with the hosting and the domain name. But of course, the hardest push is always the start.
  17. Dude, give a non Z-lister a chance man. You've got more than 20 invites and I only have five... and you've got a year before you need invites again. Plus, I bet it's because of my lockerz thread that you came to Xisto in the first place...
  18. No, they don't... I haven't been contacted once at all. And just to let you know, you can actually change your details after you sign up, so I really don't think they know the difference if you put your address of your next door neighbour or otherwise... *wink* not that I'm actually implying or encouraging you to do that. But I am pretty sure that Xisto and Xisto does keep your information private, and I believe that you can read their Privacy Statement if you want. OK, I can't seem to find that, but I found their Terms of Service, and you might like to browse through that if you want. But anyway, I can say that it is really quite safe to give your details to the Xisto Corporation. Well, lots of people have, and if you think about it. Why would they need to use and want to have your private information anyway? Not like they will bomb your house or anything...
  19. Haha, hilarious, rob86... just joking... By the way (this is off topic): How's the psiball? Any luck on feeling psi? Anyway... Back of topic now... Any reply is good, though I was actually hoping one from the Xisto Drupal experts (aka rvalkass). Drupal is a platform like wordpress where you make your site, and while Wordpress is for blogging, Drupal is for well, basically anything!!! Many organizations and companies like the BBC use Drupal, and this is the reason why I'm using Drupal now, though how they manage to make things look so good and not default like is really out of my abilities. But anyway... yeah, the log in is just a module that you install onto the platform, but I can't seem to find the login module script at all, and therefore not able to change the script (and wreck it on the way)... so that's a problem... I also can't find the bit where the column thing is, so I can't seem to change that either, though on the download page of the template it was noted that the columns and the template was "flexible"... I really don't know about that, though it is true that you can shift the columns about, but I just can't change the widths... :-/ But anyway, the main problems not that. The main problem is that I have to find ways to make categories and sub categories, as well as the ability to tagging my posts, which is what I am lacking right now, and any blogger would know that you cannot survive without tags at at all... And this is where Wordpress beats Drupal, because Wordpress already have the categories thing done as well as giving you the option to put sub-categories and tags onto your posts, where Drupal does not (not that I know of). If I can get that to work, then I think that I will be fine. I just need to be able to put categories and tags onto my posts. Any help on that would be really, really great... But thanks for replying, rob86.
  20. Haha, nice, Cold Fusion... yeah, well, Xisto is the best in terms of unlimited free hosting. As far as I know, there is no other free hosting site on the internet that gives you an unlimited plan. Of course, however, this means that you will have to keep posting on Xisto to get your free hosting, but anyway... Welcome to Xisto!!! I'm glad that you found us. Did the design really catch your eye? Really? It actually turned me off in the first place when I first came here... it was only after a while that I decided to join Xisto, and I never ever regretted it. The members here are really helpful, and they don't think it's a problem helping new members that don't know anything about creating a website (like me) from the start and I have, no that I'm looking back on my progress, realised that I have come a long way since a few months ago, and while my site isn't up and running yet, I am still sculpting it behind the screens and changing and modifying it so it will be ready when it goes up on the internet and go live. But anyway, for you... you will first need to go and register in the Xisto's Billing and Support Centre. Just remember to sign up with the same email as you have here so it will provide a link between the two accounts. After that, post at least five posts, so that it will trigger the link to activate, and after a few hours you should see a red and bold myCENTS thingy under your name, like what you can see under mine and other members of this community that is currently using Xisto service, and then you can start earning!!! Just remember to don't spam or copy and paste other things and texts from the internet without quoting and you'll be fine. Good luck on your free webhosting journey!!! Cheers.
  21. Hi people, I think I need your help again. I will show you the latest version of my Drupal blog... (Yes!!! I'm pretty proud of myself, because I actually did all that!!! Like, going into the code and changing the theme settings of course, not coding the whole entire theme...) This is the latest screenshot. As you can see, I have also added some arrows and things where I want to change some settings... Also, one of my main questions (as shown in the screenshot with red arrows pointing towards it) is the categories. For some reason I can't seen to add tags or make categories for my posts and if I want this blog to work then I will absolutely need the categories to work. Really. I need to be able to add tags and categories and child categories (they, tags and categories, are two completely different things), so the categories will go into the yellow menu bar, the child categories under in the black sub menu bar, and the tags just right under my posts. And someone, just anyone, please reply to this post!!! I don't know if it is just me or not, but it seems like everyone has been ignoring my queries posts a lot. If I am seriously annoying you guys, just tell me and I will keep my questions to a minimum until I have a big build up, just like what I am doing now. I don't know if I should post many little posts on my problems as I encounter them or just post a big post like this with all my questions on them. Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks.
  22. If you really think that, then it will never happen to you. BUT, if you think otherwise, and that if you think that you have the potential to becoming the richest man in the world, and that you follow this "dream" of yours, if it is a dream, then you never know, you might succeed. Don't limit yourself to thoughts like this, it's not only about making lots of money, but other things as well, like making your website. If you believe and take action that follows this dream, and if you continue and don't give up, you will succeed. (Which is what I'm trying to tell myself right now, because I constantly bombard myself with self doubts and all that in finding the perfect template and getting around Drupal. But yeah, anyway... )
  23. I've done a school project on internet and mobile scams, so I've got some idea on how they work.Basically, a ?Nigerian? scam are called Nigerian scams because the initially came from Nigeria, but they can are now basically spread across the planet (haha, who's ever heard of a copyrighted scam?), so they can now come from anywhere in the world. So damoon... they're not all made by Nigerians... So don't worry. :PThese people usually say that they've got some money or some thing (a huge sum, of course, like millions) that they want to share with you... or that they need your help in retrieving this "money" that has been trapped in wars or something. But anyway, they just can't get it out or something. Like government taxes or something, and they need your help in getting it out. Then they like, ask you to pay some kind of up-front money or some sort or give them your bank account or credit card details (you never know, some people are actually desperate enough to fall for this. ) to help them get the money, and that you are promised to get a portion or a kind of percentage of it. You might be asked to pay some money for "taxes" or somethings to help get the money to your bank. And oh yeah, they're usually (the scammers and scams) from overseas so you can't track them... :)But anyway, these money that they ask from you may start out very small amounts. But if you actually pay them, they make up new fees that you have to pay out of your pocket before you can receive your so called "millions of money" that they have gotten. And then they will keep making up these fees until they think they should stop.So yeah... and you will never be see the money that you have sent over, nor the money that was promised to you... :PAnd no, they don't exactly get the money out of your bank account. If they do, they'd be easily traced, I reckon. But smart, isn't it? Well, it would be when it initially started. No one would be expecting it and they'd think that they actually would strike rich. :)But if it was my case, like, if I was the first potential victim that they would try and scam off, I'd be like: "er... wrong email?""Maybe you should check the email first."haha.
  24. Hello geekincome...Are you interested in earning money online? You can kind of tell from your username, but anyway...Nice... you're talented. That's very good. You'll have no trouble fitting into Xisto (not that I have had any trouble fitting in as a newbie that didn't know the difference of Diskspace and a local webserver), but anyway...Welcome to Xisto!!! I am assuming that you are here for free web hosting. Well, first things first then, you'll have to join Xisto's Support and Billing Centre with the same email as you have joined in here to get started. Just fill in all of your details, post at least five posts here at Xisto, wait for a few hours (like akira550 said), and when the red "myCENTS" thingy that you see under all our names appear, you can start earning myCENTS!!!It takes little or no effort to earn myCENTS, and every 100 myCENTS that you earn gets transferred into the equivalent of real US dollars, and it only takes two US dollars to start hosting!!! (200 myCENTS).So it's pretty easy...:PJust make sure that you read the rules, and no spamming, copying and pasting content from other sites, and you'll be fine!!!Good luck on your new potential website!!! Glad to have you here "in da house".
  25. For akira550:Off Topic (I promise I'll go back on topic later)... Well, I don't really know, my fingers just run on the keyboard, like, they skitter across and sometimes I feel like I have no control on what they are typing, which is mostly why my posts are long and big, and yes, that is the main reason why I earn so many myCENTS. Two long posts give you at least 100 myCENTS (which will then convert into one USD) and so there was a period where I made only two posts a day and earned enough to keep up with hosting, if I used Xisto's hosting package, in which I don't. And rich and long? I sometimes tend to think that I ramble too much, but yeah, it's just my personality, I suppose. I have created my "voice" on the internet and on the Xisto forums, and so even if I used a different name, I believe that people will still recognise that it is me behind the screen that is typing all this out, and plus, the number of questions that I generate is just... well, annoying? I personally really think so, but most Xisto members are too nice to say that to me, or maybe they genuinely like to help someone like me set their website up. Which is very great of them and I really appreciate their help. My technique? I really don't have one, I'm just being myself. Even in my past experiences with other forums I can become the most post generating person in a short period of time, even when I'm new, and I gain reputation for being very active quickly, though that is now not the case on the other forums, because I now spend all my time on Xisto posting for learning how to create my own blog and forum (that'll come later) now. And I don't spend as much time as I do on Xisto now because the only threads (well, most of them) that I answer and make are my own because I really need to push myself and get it done before the new year. Well, that's my plan anyway. So yeah, just be yourself and you'll be fine. You're pretty active on the forums too, so you'll be like me in no time. Just post longer... it helps in the long term!!! Let's get back on track!!! (On the topic:) I hate money. I really don't know why. But really, what's the point in being the richest man in the whole wide world? If you think about it this way, let's say that your goal in your life is being the richest man in the whole wide world. Let's say that. Most people's goals is to be rich. But then, let's say that you work hard at it, learnt all these money making techniques, whether it is online or not, and then you become the richest man in the whole wide world!!! OK, so you think... "What now?" The thing is, you will find that you are not satisfied with your life. Let me have a big bold guess. Bill Gates in not the most happiest person in the whole wide world, even if he is the richest (or not - there has been debates against and for that). And maybe he isn't satisfied with his life. Because now that he is the richest person in the whole wide world, he will not have any more goals to pursue, no more target for him to chase, so then, what's the purpose of his life now? So, what does he do? He thinks that he needs more money, he needs something to do the make him happy. He isn't content with sitting around at home and enjoying his "hard-earned" money. So he earns more. And more, and more. And yet he is still not happy. But he likes to see the numbers going up in his bank account. He likes that. But since there is not limit in the highest amount of money that he can earn, he is now on a project that will never end. He is already the richest man on the planet Earth. He cannot want more. But to be happy. So he earns and hope to be happy, but he is not. And so he will not give lots of his money to charity, he will not donate to charity organizations or create one himself, because if he does, then his numbers will drop. However, you can see that from the previous thread on Bill Gates, that many people (even the richest people on the planet) still has a far way to go before they get as rich as Bill Gates. And Dude, we're not talking about millions $$$ we're talking about billions... $$$ so it's actually quite hard to catch up to Bill gates... (Especially someone like me, I've got $0 ) But no... the whole post is on this: Bill Gates is still earning money and not donating a lot of that because he is not happy with his life and he thinks that money will satisfy his search for happiness in his life but is finds out that this is not the case and so he is constantly trying to find more ways to earn more money. OK, that is just my mere speculation, but I personally think that it is very true, if not for Bill Gates, but for most people on the world. And please, Bill Gates, if you read this, don't kill me. :( OK, so yeah, I hope that I made up with my Off topic content with a much more "rich" on-topic content. What do you guys think?
