Mycent - It's Still Inactive [resolved]
The Simpleton replied to BuffaloHelp's topic in Alerts, News & Announcements
Website and module design/coding are small projects so it makes sense to do it on an individual basis. For larger projects however, it's important to get used to working in a team, right? That's why I said where it is possible one should try to be in a team. Our situation is just one of the few cases where this theory doesn't apply. -
How To Get Rid Of "silent Death Spammer"?
The Simpleton replied to web_designer's topic in Security issues & Exploits
There's another good way to stop this menace - stop using Yahoo! The number of spammers/scammers on yahoo has gone way out of control and their chat rooms are now bot rooms. So think about it and stop using yahoo. And if you think you'll be missing a lot of friends in messenger, ask them to move on as well. Yahoo is simply idiotic now. -
I think I've asked a similar question earlier but this time it's a slightly different doubt. I got a new router yesterday and since it didn't work well with my PC I've been using my netbook a lot since then. I've had to charge it twice today and the processor is slowly starting to get louder. The base isn't too hot but there is definitely some heat coming out much more than usual. I think it needs a break and that's what I'm going to give it after writing this thread; I just wanted to know this - suppose I were to put it through this sort of work daily (just browsing the net daily; no other work), how long would the battery (6 cell Li-on) survive? And are replacements available readily in the market?

Why Is Real 'art' Visible Only To A Few People?
The Simpleton replied to The Simpleton's topic in General Discussion
well to be called an art lover one doesn't need to buy paintings all the time. If they can get it that's good but the true art lover will be satisfied by looking at the art and getting lost in it. If the person enjoys just one glance at the art and feels bliss in that one moment, then that person is a true art lover! -
The pic you showed me earlier wasn't very bright but these are much better The quality's fine too - I liked the last one with the fiery sky. It's cool to live close to the sea and have greenery all around too. It makes a very good combination! Well have a good time with your lazy summer! I'd share my pictures but the summer has just ended here

Before you go ahead and but an antivirus kit, I suggest that you try Avira Antivir. I had a similar problem once and it found over a thousand infections (1000!) in my system and removed them quickly. After that I moved to Linux and didn't get the need to use antivirus again OK anyway try the Avira Antivir personal edition, which is free to use for a year. If you're still not satisfied with the result then go for a paid service.

Computers can truly never be smarter than humans, but they are definitely smarter than us in just one aspect - computing. Humans have the raw power required to calculate as fast as computers but hardly anyone is able to use their brains to the fullest potential. So except in that one aspect of computing (i.e. calculating), computers are inferior to humans in every way, and it shall continue to be so for a very long time.

Until recently, Charlie Chaplin's City Lights was the top-rated comedy film on IMDB. I think it indeed deserved that title. Then it was replaced by Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964) And now the top-rated comedy movie is the newly released Toy Story 3! With less than 15, 000 votes it has managed to beat two older films. So is it really that good? It's releasing here tomorrow and I'm hoping to watch it soon. I know it's already been released in some countries. Anyone seen it yet? Could you give your opinion about it and tell whether it really deserves that title??

Twitter Updates in tra - i mean the sutra thing
The Simpleton replied to Baniboy's topic in Web Hosting Support
hey NNNOOOOOO which and whose line are you referring to? It would be good if you expanded your posts to convey more meaning. Just because we're talking about twitter updates doesn't mean we have to post in twitter style Just kidding.....There have been lesser updates from twitter in the past 24 hours. Is it a sign that those members have broken the link between twitter and KS or is it just an off-day? -
I've seen some of my friends spending over two weeks in coaching institutes to learn how to use MS Office 2003, and when Office 2007 came along, they were shocked to see the ribbon interface and realised that all their training couldn't help them in using this new version smoothly! Now most of us have gotten used to the ribbon although there are still a very good number of people using Office 2003. Now we have Office 2010. I read a review in a tech magazine a few days back and it said that there weren't any huge improvements over the previous version. I have Office 2007 now although I only use it when Open Office doesn't give me what I want. So is an upgrade to 2010 justified? Will I be missing any great features if I don't upgrade?

You're definitely doing something great in your life which is making lots of people happy so keep up the good work And I'm sure every member who got hosted from here for free would like to thank you a lot but they may just not be putting it into words. As for those who keep complaining about the bugs and all, they keep forgetting that they've got their hosting for virtually nothing. Well you could always tell her thanks for sharing!! umm....2007? If I'm not wrong, the concept of hosting for posting was already there before the site started so we're not 100% unique. What makes us unique is that we've survived the test of time while the others have failed. Hooray!

I think the pros and cons of a dual sim phone are almost equal but I think the biggest disadvantage is that there aren't any good models out there. All the dual sim phones that I have seen can hardly match some of the regular phones available in the market. They do try to provide the commonly used features but most often they aren't very good. So unless you desperately want to get a dual sim phone, it's recommended that you stick to regular phones and choose a good model instead.

Hi to celia and larryp - you two should be starting your own threads as well. I don't understand why you folks didn't get the idea yourself Anyway welcome to the forum. Looking at your single posts I can't say whether you're thinking of staying or leaving but let me assure you that if you choose to stay you won't regret it. Just be patient until the forum upgrade is complete and then you can see how rewarding this place is ! I hope you'll keep posting

Today there are some smartphones out in the market which can be labeled as iPhone killers, as they are equal to or better than the iPhone in terms of pricing, features and performance. Even so, the iPhone has managed to stand strong and its mysterious charm still hold. So let's move on to the next product - the iPad. There was a lot of enthusiasm for it in the beginning and sales were encouraging as well, but it's hard to hide the fact that it misses out on a lot of important features. Are there any products out there which can manage to achieve the title of iPad killer? I know of one tablet called the Adam (too lazy to put in the link so look it up if you want), which is priced much lesser than the iPad and has lot more features than it. It's yet to be launched and it's from a start-up company so it's tough to get that tag. Are there any popular brands bringing out tablets to beat the iPad?

@ash: ITneed.com is on sale. I think you noticed that long back. Have you considered making an offer? If you could manage to get the .com then you would have a pretty good domain.

Animals Sometimes Loyal More Than Human....
The Simpleton replied to web_designer's topic in Home & Garden
I've never had a pet or been near animals much but I've seen many instances where animals do show more love and affection than humans. They come to us for food and shelter but they reward us with strong loyalty which is hard to beat. Had the animals been a bit more intelligent we could have better understood their intentions. Anyway even now certain people connect really well with their pets and understand everything about them. That sort of a bond is tough to make and tough to break. -
Mycent - It's Still Inactive [resolved]
The Simpleton replied to BuffaloHelp's topic in Alerts, News & Announcements
As much as I agree that in OpaQue's case it's best for him to work alone, I think for bigger projects it's always advisable to code as a team? Otherwise it could take forever for the code to get ready and it would take another lifetime to get it rid of bugs. So it's good to start learning to work in a team as a preparation for bigger projects... -
I think it's acting randomly. The first time I noticed this, I made three posts as a guest and it said it was awaiting moderator approval. But only one of the posts showed up in the forum. Whether the mods didn't see those other posts or they didn't approve them I'm not sure. However I'm sure it had given me an option to post even though I was logged off. So you not being able to post when you were logged off is strange. The bug is acting as it pleases!

I got the FTP method to work, but I wanted to try the other way too, by going to Network Places in XP and trying to access the PC running Windows 7. The only problem was that it required a username and password since I had set the request password feature ON. I couldn't figure out how to create a user account so I simply disabled the password request and it worked well enough. I think this method is a little faster as well.

New Knowledgesutra Logo!
The Simpleton replied to Soviet Rathe's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Oh, good thing you pointed out the thread WD Since it was hidden in the middle of the topic I guess I didn't find the thread till now. Your logos definitely looked shiny and new - although I'll need some time to get used to those logos fitting in with the design of the new forum. Hmm now I can't decide which one fits in better - they all look good individually but it's important to fit in with the forum too and I'm not able to think which one is better. So what's the status on these logos anyway? We have at least 4-6 choices....which one to choose from?! -
Wow it's been a month and this thread has gone completely unnoticed by everyone. Oh well, I'm giving this thread a little bump because I'm nearly finished writing my first book and will be proceeding towards Lulu in a few days. So if someone could share a few words about that site and its reputation that would be great.

Contented In Life How to achieve contented
The Simpleton replied to chini13's topic in General Discussion
Being content in life is truly a hard thing to achieve. It's never easy to be fully content because we're born like that. No matter how a person appears from the outside there is always some worry or tension inside. The poor people want to earn more money, the middle-class people are torn between limited incomes and high desires, and the rich are always seeking more wealth. In a way all our worries are directly or indirectly tied to money. Of course there are some matters such as relationships which have nothing to do with money, but most of life's problems revolve around this one thing. All people are born intelligent - they just have to know how to use their brain that's all. And a person can change at any time in his life. A sensible person who comes across good fortune may become proud and selfish and starts making bad decisions. So it's tough to achieve that perfect balance. Then again, if everything was perfect, then life would become too boring. So I like to think that I should never be content - then there will always be something to look forward to, or something to challenge me. -
51 Posts Per Day?! Would You Mind?
The Simpleton replied to The Simpleton's topic in Web Hosting Support
Oh good now all I have to do is find some ideas. Too bad that my brain has gone on a holiday. I used to have many ideas for new topics - now I'm left hunting for topics to reply to
