  1. I agree, and google adsense is much more easier to block by different software while browsing the web, if you don't want to see most of the ads.. Adblocks and etc. For example when using Privoxy, I usually never see google ads unless I want to, but I can still see ads similar to kontera.. :mellow:Well, I think the more users have topics/posts on these forums, Xisto, Xisto.. the more revenue statistically he/she is getting from kontera, for new users I doubt that kontera may bring lots of revenue, it's really great for quite old members and of course for members with lots of good topics.
  2. Bible is quite a great book, an amazing book, really interesting book, but the fact remains:it was written by people. There are lots of interesting facts about the Bible, good and bad, funny and amazing.
  3. In some way I hated school, when I needed to attend, in some way I liked it.. But I can say to people who thinks that schools aren't necessary, they are wrong, schools, universities and etc. are needed and it usually depends on people themself..The only bad thing is bad eduction system and we all know that. It's usually a problem in all the world countries, for one countries it's quite critical for some countries it's better.. I also agree with the fact that not all people need to study, we need different kind of people, it's quite normal in our current society, but when more than half of people are having problems learning and studying it's quite bad..
  4. Yes, I saw a lot of those kind of movies/shows too, but don't believe in most of them, for example in my country we also have a show like that, and it's really fake, most of the stuff is fake, people are asked to say something stupid and they usually agree, when you look at that show with more attention when it seems like obvious, some times these people laugh themselfs at the end..Also, people are offered some money to say something stupid about the question, to make the answer be hilarious and it's sometimes really is a bit funny to watch it, because you can't know what they will ask or say but most of it is fake or just for 10$ to look funny.
  5. Every computers works in binary, even though there were other methods to, but they never got popular, it does not matter if the numbering is in binary, octal, hex or decimal, you can achieve the same numbers in interval (-oo;+oo)binary is the easiest method, because only with 0 and 1 you can achieve anything, by as said ON, OFF, 1, 0, true, false.. all the circuit boards works like that I guess by on, off and all the conditions evaluate by it, I mean OR, AND, NOT, OR NOT, AND NOT.. which is quite amazing when you think of it.. Easiest and simplest things can do amazing things a little bit of topic, for example DirectX and all the objects when you play games is drawn only by triangles, everything you see is triangles, with triangles you can achieve any form you want and those triangles are made from lines and lines are made from two points and a point can be a pixel :PI remember we learnt binary, hex, octal and decimal numbers in university 1 semester, it was a pain in the start, we needed to know what number is what, to multiply them, to convert them and do everything with them on paper, the hardest part for me was division for binary numbers, everything else was quite simple when you get the point how numbers work..
  6. Yes, hacking the database and taking all the info from it is usually a bad thing to happen, passwords usually are encrypted, but not names, addresses, emails and etc.A very common site hacking is when due to host, it's possible to put an index.html file on a public_html directory and the front page changes as if it was hacked a lot of people get scared..
  7. I did not know that GMail POP3 service has a limit of some kind, it's quite stupid to have a limit on a POP3 service to receive your daily mail.. I wonder what it is?I know that for security reasons gmail and most of mail and most of other SMTP servers puts a limit for you to let SEND the mail to others, it protects for massive SPAM sending from the servers, as I know the limit is daily.. but for POP3 ??? Just read a little bit and found another bad thing about GMail, that if the account is not used for over 9 months, your account is deleted, I understand that it's quite "useful" for somebody to get a name which is not usable, but imagine if the email was used quite widely and someone else can get it.. It's really a bad idea, as usually email is something like an unique thing with exceptions..Wow, also there is a filesize limit for 20 MB, that sucks, I know it's for security reasons, but if I lets say want to send legal file which is mine and it's ~50 MB.. GMail is not as good as I thought it was. :mellow:To add something about the offline version of GMail, well I don't see to much of advantage for it, nothing really cool or useful about it, could be very good for mobile gmail version to browse it offline, thats the only thing I can think off..
  8. I'm running Windows Vista, Home Premium which came with my laptop, but I don't really know any big differences from Ultimate.. Vista annoys with some stuff, but when you do some stuff with options, configuration and so on.. make it work like "you" want, for me it's quite stable now and most of the stuff works, even though there were some software, usually older which did not want to work, for university lets say Maple 9.5 and Oracle 9 didn't want to install, maple 9.5 didn't work, but I managed to install Oracle by using Compatibility mode Windows XP SP2 and it seems to work quite alright..
  9. I use Opera as my primary browser, it really got much better since the new version and the preview/alpha version of Opera 10 passes Acid3 test by 100%, as I know also Safari 4 Developer Preview passes it, it's quite a big advantage, as other browsers will try to comply acid3 test, Opera and Safari could be doing something else, like improving performance and so on..Sometimes, some sites don't work with Opera, it's usually because those sites use stuff which only works on IE, thats the reason why I sometimes use IE.. It's really great that Windows Vista does not need IE to go to Windows update service anymore.. :mellow:I also test my webpages with Firefox and Google chrome as it is using the same engine as Safari, to know how my pages look on different browsers, on Vista it's impossible yet to use IE6, so sometimes I just use an online service which shows me how the page/layout looks on IE6 or I ask some friend on some chat, even though the best solution would be to run a virtual machine and run IE6
  10. I see, so it does not matter if the myCENTS are negative, just by posting I will still receive $ into my balance on the Xisto panel.. I thought I couldn't so just waited for the system to be fixed..I used to have some negative myCENTs, made them positive by some posts.. came back the next day, made some posts and got negative again, so I thought I'll never earn any myEarnings
  11. Yeah, it's really great, it really encourages posting more relevant topics, because you can get revenue out of it, I'm also quite impressed, I thought it won't be much of deal, 1$ in a month, something like that, but it's much better indeed
  12. Well, I thought the system was fixed, but seems that whenever I post, I go to some positive and negative and there's no logic of how it works :mellow:It would be terrible if I would have only 1$ of balance and it would be the time to pay for the hosting with those ~6$..
  13. The copyright is for the year 2003 which is quite strange if he is posting it only now.. If it was made in the year 2003 lets say, when the design was quite good for those years, now it's quite simple, but I guess the main thing is information, of course it can be changed by some webmaster to make it more attractive.
  14. The bad thing about downloading your files with an FTP client from your FTP account is that when you download them o Windows OS and upload them on some other host or the same host, you change the user of the file, you usually alter the permissions too, thats why sometimes some thing might stop working because you don't have permissions to write to a file, to upload a file through your CMS and things like that..If it's possible, even though I never did it, it's best practice to backup everything through some Control Panel which has a backup feature which later could be uploaded with the right permissions and user rights, but I guess there's also some bad things about it which can happen.. Best way if you have your own CMS or you're using some kind of CMS is to have a backup feature if the Control Panel feature sucks. :mellow:Another good choice is to have a lot of your data in a DB which can be easily backup-ed, but in general it's much better to upload images as filenames into the server and not into the DB, permissions can always be a headache, especially because PHP and FTP users are different !!!!To add, Yes as I remember the Logic plan only offered 1 MySQL DB, that was the reason I didn't really like it and changed to Pro, if it offers 5 Databases now, when it's really GOOD.
  15. To add my two cents, PHP is not similar to HTML, because those are two different things. it's much clearer on Atomic0 post above. Also PHP isn't always used only for web development, even though it is meant for it, there are several projects which makes PHP a scripting language not just for outputting HTML content.. When using php.exe you can do a lot by writing your script files, because with the right privileges you can control a lot, as you can use system() to execute external programs, you can connect to some kind of a network and get the input and so on, you can even send output to a server. Projects like PHP-GTK also shows us the possibilities PHP can do: http://gtk.php.net/
  16. Personally, I would just use DAEMON Tools Lite to mount my current ISO which I wanted to edit, and would create a new ISO with my wanted extra files by putting them from the mounted disk and would save the new ISO file somewhere on my hard disk or just would burn the CD with that ISO files. Seems like an altering an ISO file method for me.
  17. Well, I used to think some years ago that the only good software for CD burning and ISO stuff was Nero, but it's not free and on this forum I've found out about CDBurnerXP which is really good for doing stuff with your files, as I understand you need to create iso files? or edit them by adding stuff, I think it is possible with CDBurnerXP, it's freeware and does the job well. https://cdburnerxp.se/ by the way, even though it sounds like it's for Windows XP, but it works quite well with Windows Vista too
  18. Well, I just had +9.06 of myCents, posted two posts and now I'm on -148.69 negative myCents Eh, well I see your point, I just hope the system will start working normally soon
  19. For some years now I'm using a domain, which I got from hostbidder which offers "free" domains, all you need is just to post on their forum, it's quite easy to post ~100 posts in a year to get those ~1000 points and renew my domain, I did that for can't remember how much years, I guess 2-3 and this is the third time I want to renew, but seems that on hostbidder the admin is quite busy and isn't paying much attention to his service anymore, he didn't post anything for over a month and my domain will expire after less than a month, I guess I still have over 20 days left for my domain to expire.. As I know when my domain will expire I'll need to pay not the regular 10$ for a year, but over 40-70$ which I really don't want to..The question is, is it possible to transfer the domain here at Xisto and use the xisto panel to manage it? As I understand I'll need to transfer it to Xisto, but how? I have the ability to manage the domain in hbdomains panel, what options would I need to search to make it transfer here? how much time would I need to wait for the transfer? is there any downtime? What should I do in the xisto panel?Another question is, from my balance I'll need to pay 10$ to make the domain transfer and another 10$ to renew my domain for another year, right? I accept this, because I really don't want it to expire.. and it will be much easier to just post here, because don't have so much time to post on several forums and xisto corporation seems much more reliable and I guess with time it will be much easier to just pay with real money.. :mellow:Will I'll be able to manage my domain with Xisto panel? change nameservers and so on?
  20. As I understand, we are getting myCents for posting, but without the bonus part and thats why usually we get less myCents when earlier? And when the myCents are getting negative here on the forum, it doesn't seem to make the balance get down on the Xisto panel, it just makes myEarnings drop..the problem is as I understand in posting on the forum, is that when you're negative and not yet updated as most of us, we can't get any earnings to the Xisto panel balance, so it's best to wait when the myCents goes to not negative? (updates and removes some myEarnings) and then post to get some earnings to the Xisto panel and then again watch how myCents gets negative? or we can just post and any cents we get goes up to our balance? :|
  21. I don't know why, but I never really used those messengers which are separate, msn, yahoo, I'm just using all in one with Pidgin, earlier known as GAIM and I am quite satisfied with it's simplicity or am I missing lots of features? for not using 3 programs instead of 1? :|
  22. I heard a lot about Norton slowing down computers, because it checks lot of things, I never really used it, but I think you can optimize it to make it work faster.. As I know ESET NOD32 is one of the best anti virus softwares which isn't consuming lots of processing time and doesn't really slow down your pc to much, especially if you tweak the options a little bit to fit your needs! And it secures your computer from most bad stuff..I remember I tried to use AVG free antivirus, but I uninstalled it after some time, because it got on my nerves and a little bit I felt that it got slower, even though I could tweak it.. but I don't really need an antivirus, Clam Win free antivirus is okey for me, even though it doesn't do to much and I also use to check for some spyware and trojans using Spybot S&D and I also tried Super Antispyware, which have fixed some problems on my XP earlier where Spybot S&D couldn't find anything..
  23. Yeah, it depends what you want to do with it, it was some time ago, several years even.. can't remember.. but it's definitely over 3-4 years
  24. I agree that most of the desktops now are x86, but for a lot of people when the speeds of cpus are like that, noone really cares to much.. even though x86 offers really bad assembler construction, everyone is using it, as I know on some portable devices and different other devices, Z80 is still being used as it's cheap, much better while writing assembly and so on, even though it's I think over 20-30 years old.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Z80 PPC are great, G4.. G5 had some bad aspects, even though PPC is much better than x86, it's just that it's not used like x86 and I guess it's what it makes hard for most developers and production.. But there are computers/boards which still were developed and used for different purposes after Apple moved to x86, even though they aren't so popular, but usually small, can run Linux PPC and other stuff.. But as I know PPC are off with desktop market, so for Operating systems which still is using PPC it's hard times, due to it's hard to find components for new boards, northbridges and so on.. Also lets don't forget the dying market of Amiga OS, OS4 and MorphOS which are using newly developed (but what I've read having bugs, I guess because of low budget) PPC boards to run the OS as it's only PPC, where classic Amiga boards are using m68k (Motorolla 68k) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/68k which also had really well developed assembly instructions.. I myself have a PPC Board called Efika from Freescale, which can run MorphOS, Linux PPC, but I don't really have much time to play with it now.. It's so quiet, because it doesn't need a cooler, but todays better laptops are also really quiet. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Efika PPC processors are good, but the logic they used marketing it was stupid, as usually good things vanishes leaving the bad? I guess everyone who still is using PPC should find a path and move to x86 if they want to survive, I mean developers, opearating systems which are in the desktop market :|

    C++ & Vista

I think yes, the syntax is the "same". So why don't you use Eclipse? on Windows, I think it's using GCC, even though can't remember.. http://www.eclipse.org/cdt/ Also you can use Dev C++, I stopped using it as it started to be buggy and I think it was updated some time ago, as if the project is abandoned, but you can still use it: http://www.bloodshed.net/devcpp.html and you can use Visual Studio 2008 on Windows too, but it has a little bit different syntax in some situations then programming C/C++ if moving from Borland.. Usually code written for GCC works on Visual Studio, the opposite doesn't work in some situations of coding style.
