I have been away from Asta for some time and was wondering about returning to Asta hosting. I have been receiving over due notices from the service for several months and frankly ignored them as I have had far more pressing issues. To return and get hosting again do I need to post enough for all the back months or just start posting for this one? Thanks in advance.

To clarify for you the router page is not on the internet, it is accessed via your local network. If you are unable to connect to the internet but are able to connect to the router then it seems you have an IP so the issue may be between the router and the connection be it the modem or or the modems connection. If the router is wireless make sure that the network is secured as others using your network that are not supposed to could result in connection issues.

I just put Windows 7 on a friends machine and was pleasantly surprised by the result. I liked how I was able to add his wireless NIC and Windows instantly added the BroadCom drivers (its chipset), a couple clicks and a password he was on our network. I actually like the taskbar. It is different but i think there is a functionality improvement there.

Since I know Wutske is bright enough to have tried all the obvious things I will suggest a thing or two that has fixed PC's for me before that are far less obvious. Try removing everything from the unit anything attached to the motherboard, including the CPU, but the the power supply connector. Power on for a few seconds then off. Put it all together and power it up. This has worked for me in the past a couple times when everything else has failed. I have no idea why. If the Dell in question is one of the desktop ones and not a tower of any sort it may have the odd PCI car the turns into sideways PCI slots. I had a Dell I worked on once where that card went flaky and removing it fixed the system. Oddest suggestion: Once more if the unit is one ef Dell's flat-ish ones attempt to determine how the unit was oriented previously. (you stated it was second hand) Look at the feet on it to see if it was used side ways or flat. In that position see if it starts. I know that sounds stupid but have seen PC's that will operate in only a certain position. This is because they developed tiny faults in the board for one reason or another and short out when placed in the "wrong" position. I worked at one place installing new units where the in house tech dept. over stacked the Dells (about 20 high) while imaging them. The ones on the bottom suffered this condition. Not a possible off the wall fix but as a trouble shooting step just try powering it on many times successively. If one time in twenty to fifty it actually boots then the motherboard has likely gone to that great Taiwanese factory in the sky (or at least is walking towards the light). My brothers PC did this

Your post title makes it sound as if you have had removable media scratched though it does not sound that way in the post. The way the media feeds into the drive it only touches the disk in the same places you should when removing it or or what have you. Of course if the drive completely spit out the disk that would be a problem with disk falling on the floor.

As a Christian I believe the Bible to be the inerrant Word of God. It is completely God breathed and written by the Holy Spirit through others. It is complete and completely authoritative.

Good answer Truefusion. When people say that the Bible can not be a literal work because of (insert argument here) they always tend to forget a few things. Firstly the intent and scope of the Bible; it is a record of God's love for mankind, Man's fall, and God's redemptive plan through Christ. It has never been intended as a science document nor a historical document. It only seems to be in error when one places their own expectations and limited understanding on it. For example the Bible never states that the world is flat nor does it ever state that the sun revolves around the Earth. At one point some with a limited scope of thought believed the Bible said these things but they are clearly not accurate and the Bible never makes these claims. Last example The big Bang Theory. I have heard people state that God could not create the Universe because of the strong scientific evidence of the the Big Bang. Of course never thinking that perhaps God caused it in the first place by setting the laws of physics into place. The Bible starts with the words "In the beginning" interestingly we know that before space existed that there is no time onto the case of Dinosaurs and the history of the Earth before man appears. There are several ways to look at this of course. To me the debate of literal 24 hours Earth days or epochs of time days is rather inconsequential because we do not know the frame of reference. Relativity taught us that time is mutable and strictly dependent on the observer. Remember the twin paradox? So if we are looking at the time frame of The Lord an infinite being we have no idea how infinitely fast He may or nay not move. Thus a 24 hour day to God in his frame of reference may well be a couple billion years to the rest of the universe. Onto Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Here is another case of placing our own restrictions on the narrative. We do not know the location of the garden nor do we know how long Adam and Eve resided there nor how long Adam was alone before Eve was created. Bear in mind that before the original sin there was no sickness, aging, or death for Adam and Eve. Thus it is completely possible that the Earth was going through it's prehistory, meteor strikes and all, while Adam and Eve were living in the Garden under God's care and protection safe from the tumultuous events outside of Eden. The Bible states that Adam lived to the age of 930, I believe that is years measured after the fall when time would be of any significance. Sorry for the long post, I hope it causes some thought.

In my experience people who go the vegetarian or vegan route often have some underlying emotional or social dysfunction to begin with. To find that this carries over to eating disorders of form or another is no surprise. The vast majority of the teens (all female) I have seen who decide that they are suddenly vegetarian or vegan (amoung other things) are simply insecure and seeking some way of identifying themselves.

I mostly play Alliance simply because my friends do. But, i actually like the horde side better. I think the races are more interesting from a story perspective. Sure every fantasy game has dwarves and elves but the Horde races stand out a bit more to me. Orcs are akin to Klingons in many ways and the Tauren are simply my favourite race in the game.

This is an interesting article though I must say that there are parts I disagree with completely. The way the eye moves through a design is dictated by good design. If someones eyes are jumping all over the place as shown then the design is not doing it's job of leading the viewers attention through the available information. I took a look at the websites listed in the study and not too surprisingly they were all poorly designed with appeared to be basically the same design on each page. The natural eye movement over a piece is top left to top right to bottom right to bottom left. The writes of the article study or what seems to have no concept of the importance of white space or empty space in an image. Well used negative space is very important in designs. Visual disturbances is an interesting topic in and of itself. Anything moving is going to draw attention to itself. So yes animated ads are going to get a bit more attention though they will distract from the actual site itself. Personally, I keep Flash turned off and gifs un-animated. More than text size should be used to distinguish itself. The lack of decent font usage on the internet is a good example of the mediums limitations. Basically the bit tells how some sites are designed and ignores what constitutes a good design. I remain of the opinion that the vast majority of web site designs are crap. I do realize this is a result, at least in part, of browsers and coding languages still being rather limited in it's design abilities. This is also a result of the "web design" industry that has people who have never studied design designing. I had hoped that CSS would be a way of opening up design possibilities but instead it has simply become another set of coding strictures. Please note I come from a fine arts and design background.

I just wanted to point out that the "Big Crunch" is no longer a valid theory. at one point it was believed that the expansion of the universe was slowing however, that has since been proven to be untrue. The rate of universal expansion, based on current observations, seems to be increasing instead. Hence the need for dark energy. If Proxima Centauri went super nova it would destroy life on earth.

If you have a server with 2003 server installed the users should be on a domain on a work group. Using the domain Directory Services specify a group for the IDs that are allowed access to the internet and a group that is not. Then your internet access is restricted per user as opposed to being PC dependent.

If you just need a cable the best place would likely be your local Wal-Mart. they have cables and assorted connectors so that despite your plug they are sure to have one that fits.

Have you cionsidered an AI for playing a fairly simple game with fairly simple rules. For example an AI for playing black jack or a card game of some sort. Perhaps a Dice game like Yahtzee or Greed. That is all I can think of off hand though all of them are basically a large pile of if/then/else statements.

I am going to expand on this a bit for you. For a real DBA the ease of use of the GUI is not a key factor in much the same way a Linux admin may well skip the GUI and go straight to the command line. In the case of high end database engines the products extension of the SQL language and implements those extensions goes a long way to making the RDMS usable. How the RDBMS handles stored procedures and triggers and the language(s) used for those could be a consideration as well. Reporting tools, of course, greatly contribute to the ease of use for an RDBMS. Just thought I should add those considerations. I guess you could say that what qualifies as ease of use is greatly dependent on the user in question.

Of course if the Mayans were smart maybe they should have predicted when they would have been wiped out. The notion that same archaic calendar is a reasonable predictor of anything is laughable. Of course the Mayans also used several different calendars. Oh no one of them is only thirteen days long, are we doomed because that one ends? Of course not the calendar simply rolls over. Lets add to this that the Mayans believed that all sorts of rites had to take place regularly for the universe not to end. Though these rites have not occurred were still here. Thus the likely conclusion is simply that the world is not going to end based on a calendar made by people who also thought cutting out someones heart made for a good laugh. Lastly please remember that all calendars are imposed by people. The universe is rather unconcerned with how we decide to track time.

Thought I would update the post if anyone was curious. My buddy basically decided he wanted to get the PC Saturday and have it ready Sunday. So we went to CompUSA to purchase the parts. It workewd out well for us acyuallt as they had a very good stock and some nice sales. The motherboard we got is an XFX GeForce 8200 I was persnally leaning towards an AMD chipset but this is a very good board with everything I needed and a bit more, plus it was on sale for $70. It has Dual Bios and over clocking feature out the wazoo as well as a PciE 2.0 slot. There also happened to be a sale on Ram so we were able to get 4GB of OCZ 800 Mhz (pc 6200) for a mere $25. I was really happy with this Ram and was not expecting to get such good ram for so cheap, it even has heat spreaders on it. He is using XP and now has the most XP, 32 bit, can address. Finally the Processor we got is the one Xboxrulz suggested. CompUSA had it in stock and it was retail so included the heatsink and fan. It was a simple choice. AMD Athlon X2 7750 Black Edition With the power supply our total (including rebates and excluding taxes) came to $202. Only $2 over and we purchased some great parts in my opinion. ant were able to purchase more ram than I expected and a 2 rail 550 watt power supply. If anyone cares I will make another post later with the install information.

Astrology is total bunk. The notion that Earth's very insignificant movement in relation to extra solar objects affects anything is simply illogical. I will give an example I had posted previously elsewhere. I originally made that statement in response to someone stating "energy" from other constalations affected us somehow. Sorry I have never seen any study indicate that gravity of any sort affected human behavior in any way. Even the Full moon myth where even typically logical people will swear that people are weirder, more violent or whatever during full moons seems to be a case of fitting the evidence to a predetermined result.

Given the Earth rotates at speeds greater than 1000 miler per hour and the goes around the sun at 67,000 MPH while the solar system goes around the galaxy at about 490,000 MPH am going to have to say No the thrown object never stops. Relative to the thrower the object may seem to stop. But, I must add that unless your object comes down exactly the way it wen up than no it has never come to a stop as the object thrown is also going to have some rotational motion as well. Thus while if very simply expressed via math an non rotating object going in a straight line up does technically reach zero upward motion before descending it serves no real world purpose.
