Webpage Display Changes Each Time I Refresh In Firefox
BuffaloHelp replied to ramvis's topic in Websites and Web Designing
<div style=" #position: absolute; #top: 50%;display: table-cell; vertical-align: middle; left: 0px;"> <div class="greenBorder" style=" #position: relative; #top: -40%; color:#ffffff; width:48px; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 13px; font-weight: bold; color: white;"> Search </div </div> You're missing ">" at </div the second last DIV tag. Fix that and see if it helps. I don't like testing out the page when all tags are not properly closed--because a simple fix like that could be everything when it comes to debugging. -
Suggestions And Mostly Complaints err...

Shoutbox is in reverse order than what we are used to. And it seems like it's 12 minutes faster than my local time. Not 1 hour or 30 minutes fast, but just simple easy number 12 minutes fast. So, the latest shout is displayed at the bottom and not at top like we were used to. I'm not sure if this is going to be the way from now on. -
Edit seems to be working fine, now. When you experience forum glitch, just give it a moment or few minutes. It can be due to server updates or forum updates. It's also possible that it's due to database running slow and cannot keep up with incoming requests. It's like having the hour glass of waiting icon when you click too many things on your PC, or running too many things. :PThis topic is closed.PS, maybe OpaQue was changing the shoutbox and that's when you experienced the problem. Shoutbox orders are in reverse, it seems.

This is more for the anthropology then biology. To infer that measure of intelligence depend on biological traits, then Einstein's parents must have been intelligent as Einstein himself. But it's not the case. This analogy is false because science is not about facts and figures. Science is knowledge of the physical and biological world and with the processes of discovering and validating. Pure false can be validated because it fails all the time. So a misinformation can be validated since it's being misinformed. And misinformation can become a "fact" because it's classified as "misinformation." If you interview and survey 100 Tall people who are Asian, who play basketball and can dunk, can you conclude that Asians are basketball players who are dunkers? According to science this is true. But we all know that there's a flaw--the survey pool or data only included 100 tall Asians. So, science can be faulty if not counter checked. And that's why science is only "knowledge of the physical and biological world and with the processes of discovering and validating." And "knowledge" can have holes and loop holes. See this for an example. Fill in the blank and see if you think it's a racist statement. Majority of professional basketball players are Black. And they are tall, or taller than other ethnics. They dominate the basketball leagues. Majority of fastest runners are/were Blacks. They hold majority of World and Olympic records. They dominate the Track and Field sports. Therefore, ___________ are better in Sports that deals with height, speed and distance. The data pool suggest the statement is True, while your logic probably is trying to scratch your head. You can do this test with just about anything... ___________ are better in Math. ___________ are better in eating contest. ___________ are smarter. ___________ are taller than others. Science can be racist. Because Science is not about pleasing your thoughts, not rocking the boat or being buddies with everyone. Science can have unexpected or politically incorrect results that can be validated through repeated process. The key is to understand the conditions which processes were tested and know what other contributing factors were/were not included.

Cutenews Continues To Deteriorate HTML Function Gone
BuffaloHelp replied to Misanthrope's topic in Web Hosting Support
If you tried to double space but still having issue creating new line, I believe it's due to the posting setting. When you post a new article or editing on, click on Article Options found at the bottom right of the posting box. Check to see if Convert new lines to <br / is checked. If not, by checking this box it will accept double space as a new line. If this does not solve your issue, then convert to WYSIWYG editor. I believe v1.4.0 and newer versions feature WYSIWYG editor. Go to Options > System Configuration > News tab > Use WYSIWYG Editor to YES in case you missed it on my previous post -
While functionality of Firefox have made my surfing, researching and programming a lot easier, I would continue to use Internet Explorer for the purpose of testing out web designs and scripts.Although I may not use the Internet Explorer there are users who still use what is the "norm" for their computer. And from a certain aspect, ActiveX is still a huge part of the business world--which is native to Microsoft's programming.I have purchased and maintained particular security and closed caption circuit television DVRs for alarm companies. And majority of them require ActiveX to remotely view their camera or recordings. And so Internet Explorer is still the choice of browser for many clients and monitoring stations. And because it will be a long time to change them from ActiveX to the next generation, it's a sure bet that I'll be writing codes that are relevant to Internet Explorer.

Cutenews Continues To Deteriorate HTML Function Gone
BuffaloHelp replied to Misanthrope's topic in Web Hosting Support
Try entering double space. While you see it as a sufficient for a paragraph style (during your news posting), the program might purge the unnecessary space as a mere "blank space." By entering another space, double space to your end, Cutenews program will interpret it as next new line. Another helpful (or maybe not) hint is that you can turn on WYSIWYG editor. Go to Options > System Configuration > News tab > Use WYSIWYG Editor to YES. This changes how you post to your news. You can have posting style similar to our forum (bold, underline, link, paragraph, font, size etc). You can always turn it off at any time. Great thing about WYSIWYG is you can resize pictures by cropping on the spot. I forget what version I recommended to you, but if you don't have Cutenews 1.4.6 please upgrade now. If you are going to upgrade to a newer version, please consider Cutenews UTF-8. The original version has stopped developing since September 2008. The supporters of Cutenews has launched their own modifications and calling it UTF-8. See their discussion http://cutephp.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=32324 One thing great about UTF-8 is the placement of login ban. If there are attempts to brute force login and guess passwords, after X numbers of tries, the IP will be placed on a ban list and the hacker cannot continue the attempt. I had to make my own script for v1.4.6 but UTF-8 includes it native. While Cutenews 1.4.6 is still good enough for some (if you do not have multiple users, members, crazy commenting designs), UTF-8 is still being developed and maintained. The choice is up to the user's environment. -
What Is The Most Affordable And Powerful Data Recovery Tools
BuffaloHelp replied to shuang's topic in Software
If you are looking to recover major file types, such as pictures (but not limited to gif, jpg, bmp), and others like doc, xls, txt, pdf... the best software with affordable price is Recovery My Files. I have been using this program for about 5 years and it is very good. I have recovered success rate of 99% with 95% file accuracy. Just because file can be recovered, it does not mean that the file is intact. Assuming you deleted your files and did not overwrote with another file, as in you deleted and used Recovery My Files almost immediately (even after emptying out your recycle bin) you can recovery your files close to 99%, or sometimes 100%. There are other free recovery programs out there. Try these few and test it out: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk http://www.rewardprograms.org/thefreegeek/army_knife.html -
I came across an interesting trick while I was trying to make multiple domains to be parked but each would have different index page. (See my previous post). You don't have to rename file_as.html to file_as.php. You can eliminate the hassle of losing search engine link. There's another trick to redirect incoming ****.html to be redirected to ****.php, but for this demonstration purpose I'm just going to talk about including regular PHP expressions to regular HTML page. I was faced with editing 100+ HTML files to have URL changed within each page. Although I could have easily done it with HTML editors, copy, paste, save and then upload, I wanted to know if I could do it in a way that would be better for the future. I mean what if I have to change this URL to another format, or include additional information to 100+ HTML files? Do I go through of editing them all over again? If they were a PHP file I would simply include 1 file which can be edited. Then the 100+ pages will reflect the change immediately by uploading a single changed file. Using htaccess native command, RemoveHandler .html .htmAddType application/x-httpd-php .php .htm .html Save this as .htaccess and upload it to the directory where your files will be affected. Once uploaded, simple have your HTML file to include a code like <body> ... ... <?php include ('filename.php'); //or for ($i=0; $i<sizeof($array); $i++) { echo $array[$i]; } ?> ... ... </body> </html> As you can see, although your file still possess file_as.html, you can make it to run PHP code. And all PHP codes will run normally--no exceptions or exclusions.

I think the quickest way to learn PHP is to see a sample page build and just add your things and see what really happens. My first introduction to PHP was with INCLUDE. And boy, this one command really comes in handy. Let's say you have a page in such structure that at the top is your banner, left is your navigation and the rest is your content. You can build rest of your site using the same template (3 sections). And as each page is build you need to update your navigation to match your growing pages. Well, what happens to earlier pages? You have to go back and edit to reflect new pages you just added. With PHP include, you can split the template into 3 pieces. First, optional, is to create header.php which includes header information, doc types and your banner. Second could be nav.php where you code all page links in LIST format. And the last page (the content) called index.php (for now). Sample build header.php <doctype.....><html><head>...</head>Notice that no actual PHP codes are present. Sample build nav.php <ul><li><a href=" ">Page 1</li><li><a href=" ">Page 2</li></ul>Note again, no actual PHP codes are present. Sample build index.php <?php include ('header.php'); ?> <body> <?php include ('nav.php'); ?> <p>Insert contents for this index page for whatever it may be...</p> <p>Footer</p> </body> </html> And you can use index.php template for page1.php, page2.php etc. The basic idea is that because one page can be included to another page, by allowing the first page to be stand alone for all templates, you can update 1 single page and the rest of sites will update accordingly. This was not possible with previous language. But the true magic of PHP is, not only free, that since it's server side script programming, you can design contents that cannot be "disabled" by viewers, like javascript or other client side scriptings. And since it's server side scripting, all works are done by powerful hosting servers. After you get comfortable, you can move on to other PHP programmings like date(), mail(), array() and go to functions (this is where C and C++ programming skills are helpful), recursive and loop functions, global and local variables, oh joy...

Well, I did searches for "power submitter" and "power submitter unlimited freedom" and found nothing except for its own website which happens to promote the program. That's my first flag. The second is there are two websites, becanada.com and becanada2.com (with subdomains and weird directory and file names). I don't know.. very fishy.Who is to say that 2000+ submissions are all websites that matters to you? I heard that sometimes submitting by had is worth 100 auto submissions. I think that's why there's new momentum that's gaining--called human directory, updated and maintained by people rather than some algorithm.I am with you on the price and getting ripped off. At the price of $69.99 I rather purchase Google or Yahoo's sponsored link. I don't know about the rest of you but I use Yahoo and Google for my searches. I know that "I" do not represent the rest of internet users but what else is really there to search with?

Suggestions And Mostly Complaints err...
BuffaloHelp replied to Baniboy's topic in Web Hosting Support
I know but it's what the IPB developers have put out. And to save the server resources auto refresh intervals have been set to optimal level. So instead of being "chatbox" it's a "shoutbox" ... the difference is, as you can see, meant for a quick shout and not the other one. It's meant to be a spacer. After forum's upgrade and new skin, that's what OpaQue decided to do. Is it a final? Perhaps not. But it's been like that since the new forum skin. And IPB 3 is out. You know we will be updating to that version soon. So is it going to be fixed? I doubt it. Actually, we had so many requests saying we didn't have enough categories for this and that. So the end result was increasing categories by suggestions submitted by members. Perhaps plans were made and things were started but never came to a conclusion. The main point of this forum is SEO, SEO, and SEO. Once OpaQue thought out and made changes, the changes were SEO relative "terms." Therefore, once created it will stay put until the next big cycle of moving things around. Basically, it's for SEO. Not many people will get it, however, Having a simple, keyword specific and density for a simple page helps and I mean really helps for SEO. When you look through the page you'll see the hard work done by OpaQue to make Xisto the ranking in search engines. Sure, by all means. You can contact OpaQue directly. Member number and registered numbers will always be different. This is due to ban members, members that are no longer registered with Xisto etc. And OpaQue does not bother with excess SQL synchronization of changing member numbers with registered numbers. The forum database inserts comma after the title. However, the forum skin does not relate to that. The designer of the skin didn't take that into the consideration and designed it so that Title and Description appear as two separate lines. If they were in one single line it would make sense. -
My Venture Into High-definition...
BuffaloHelp replied to rayzoredge's topic in Science and Technology
I will be purchasing new TV sometime in July when I move to Georgia. I have been itching to purchase new TV for very long time but since this move is coming up, I have been very patient for over a year. And I just can't take it anymore! The only thing that keeps me sane from purchasing one now is that I don't think I can move with new stuff in my truck. So that keeps me from buying anything at this point. But Samsung is one of my top choices. And I'm still wrestling with LCD vs LED. LED is so nice and thin, but LCD has fallen so much in price that.. well what do you do?You just hope that you're making the right decision at the time of your purchase and always know that technology's price will fall as soon as you walk out the door. You just have to bite the bullet. Be a man, right?Good choice and good research there. I would have gone with bit more smaller subwoofer because they are so intrusive. But it's not the deal breaker. And I know about the brick model--I still have 42" Toshiba I paid over thousand dollars few years back. I just can't seem to throw that out because of the size and the price I paid. -
Embedding You Tube Videos In My Website
BuffaloHelp replied to onkarnath2001's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Embedding YouTube contents to a hosting by Xisto would not break any rule, since1) YouTube will have their own TOS regarding contents of YouTube. Therefore, if YouTube takes it down you'll simply have a broken embed2) Since YouTube and Xisto have similar TOS for web contents, it's safe to say that if it's alright with YouTube it will be alright with Xisto. However, Xisto will not forbid you from hosting your own videos. The rules is that you will not ONLY use Xisto for hosting videos, as in storage or off drive contents. What I will advise is uploading your own video to YouTube and then embedding to your website. There is a small instance where this too will break Xisto TOS: when you deface Xisto, use inappropriate words to degrade Xisto and/or Xisto related material(s) or person(s), this breaks your Xisto hosting TOS.This may not break YouTube's TOS but it will with Xisto TOS. Your views expressed are your own and entitled but when you specifically include names and places that are related to Xisto when using Xisto services, you are breaking Xisto's TOS. YouTube might view your opinion as "freedom of speech." -
I wanted to touch base with another method of logging in...via htaccess. But that would be for another topic, another time.I agree with getube. By controlling the content and how its viewed (whether javascript enabled or disabled by a local user) using any means of Server Side scripting would be the best way to control and secure the login process.

My first impression: goth, emoI like the simple layout and quick loading but I wonder if the design can isolate many visitors by the first impression. Any Keyb Shortcut To Drop Down Websearch List? in Firefox
BuffaloHelp replied to andresf91's topic in The Internet
Hummm, this sounds like a challenge. The first think I can think of is using Greasemonkey to develop your own keyboard short-cuts. Since you're using Firefox, Greasemonkey is an excellent add-on for customizing web pages (localized only, of course). I'll get back to you if I find or code any. ============== Update for now ============== Found a user script called Multiple Engine Searcher Or go to Installing link to install (you must install Greasemonkey first) Looks like you can customize easily by adding, subtracting from the list <a href="http://search.yahoo.com/search?p='+query+'&ei=UTF-8">Yahoo</a>, \ <a href="http://web.ask.com/web?q='+query+'">Ask Jeeves</a>, \ <a href="http://s.teoma.com/search?q='+query+'">Teoma</a>, \ <a href="http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q='+query+'">MSN</a>, \ <a href="http://search.lycos.com/default.asp?query='+query+'">Lycos</a> And appears right the top of the google search engine. So search with google and the same query will be applied to Yahoo, or whatever you place in Screenshot The steps are that you launch google search and type in the query. After that, click on Wikipedia (from your customization) and you'll have the same query searched by Wiki. -
Brittany Murphy! Her passing was shockingly plastered over Yahoo's website. I was taking a break from backache all day, so I was not near any sitting area (not even by my computer) all day until just now.She died of sudden cardiac arrest Sunday about 10am. Los Angeles Fire Department responded to her place around 8am.I saw Brittany Murphy while I was in California some years ago. I was sitting by a cafe place and she was just walking down the busy street. Everyone noticed her and she didn't mind. I saw her casual walk, not even boasting about her status as a Hollywood celebrity. She had compose about her that made her unique and sexy. I did enjoy watching her walking down the sun setting street. Her hair was like on fire. I will never forget that moment. Not only Brittany started in the film "Clueless," a movie I often draw analogies with my buddies, but she was the voice of Luanne from "King of the Hill." Her distinctive cry to her "Aunt Peggy" with scratch high pitched voice will sure be missed.I hope that she enjoyed her life, especially after some rocky relationship with Ashton Kutcher. She seemed to be very happy with her husband. She was only married for just over 2 years. She was looking forward in starting a family coming new year.My fondest memories of her, for whatever is the worth, and my condolences to the Murphy family.

Lightweight Cms For Blogging
BuffaloHelp replied to inverse_bloom's topic in Websites and Web Designing
When using a database based script, the first insecurities are the username and password. But the second and sometimes most common are SQL injections. If a script/program is not written with all possibilities of exploiting the script and without their counter measures, your database can come to a halt, reveal information including passwords or crash the very server that's running your website--and when your "site" becomes compromised it can spread to others who are sharing your "server." So, developers test and retest (debugging) scripts they wrote in hopes that security holes like that would not exist. But, when a script is free or virtually exists for end user's pleasure (the programmers gain nothing) generally, the program will have many security holes and it will not be patched up. Some quick searches... http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I'm not sure if this is an actual security flaw but an unstable/bad coding -
An American Author William Faulkner always tingled my brain from time to time. His styles are rough and sometimes running with his thoughts, but his works were always praised by critiques. Maybe the influence of World War II could be shown in his writing style. A Rose for Emily, I read as college English term paper, took on 5 different angles which the book told the story. I found that intriguing and annoying at the same time. I just couldn't keep up. But it sure did put me to sleep.

Php Send Mail Through Phpmailer sending mail through phpmailer
