  1. This is a hard one, and I'd probably classify it as a "necessary evil." While it does have its negative effects, the fact of the matter is that it helps teach people what society expects of them. Despite personal feelings, society's views are what you have to live up to, regardless as to whether or not you agree with them.
  2. I don't believe this is really how they feel, but rather what their music is about. It's an outlet for frustrations and/or other things, also often called a "creative outlet." It's sort of how the people who write movies that have killing (such as Saw)likely aren't serial killers themselves. So because of this, I don't really read too much into it.
  3. I kind of disagree. Both systems are more computer-like than anything. Both of them can have OS's installed in fact.Graphics on the PS3 are much better than the 360, but that's also because the discs hold more information. I like the Bluetooth though...Along with this, the exclusive games for PS (such as the Final Fantasy series) make it a huge win for me.
  4. Have you tried contacting the company yet? That may be your best bet as most programs have "backdoor passwords" for cases just like this one. As an alternative, a Google search turned up many different "uninstallers," but I can't vouch for any of them personally.
  5. This is some pretty solid information. I had no idea there were wireless extenders or that the antannae can be upgraded to make them more efficient.I've been dealing with signal weakness for quite a while but couldn't figure out what it was. Even with our router set up and only two rooms away from mine (going through one wall) I've lost signals every hour or so and had major slow-downs otherwise.I'm definitely going to check out these things and see if they help, .Thanks!
  6. I actually use a WRT54GS (I think it's GS) right now, but prior I used a D-Link. It's hard to truly say what is best because when it really comes down to it they are all about equal, but if I remember right the security on the D-Link was a lot more solid (and of course the router is more expensive as well).
  7. So for future reference, what we basically do is send ourselves an invoice (and pay it) for the amount we want to deposit to our accounts, and then when it is paid it will be added (since it's technically a credit)?
  8. Did you already sign up with Xisto - Web Hosting as well, with the same email address you use on the forums? If so, it should show up pretty much instantly. If not, that is your next step.
  9. On the topic of VMWare, does anyone happen to have experience with (or at least the theory of) using it for creating a VPS on a dedicated server? Due to the amount of RAM used, I don't quite get how we use them to set up VPS's without having massive RAM available to use, nor can I find a guide anywhere.
  10. That's a real odd issue but I thought you had to deposit a minimum of like $50 anyways.I'd contact support directly though (Xisto - Web Hosting.com -> login -> submit ticket), as I think that is a faster method of getting help.
  11. That's an extremely good piece of advice and one that's often missed. To be honest I hadn't even thought of that one for security reasons. Especially with younger kids, this is something that can be important, as they often spill too many details anyways.
  12. My most recent movie was Fast Five. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would -- the movie seems to be like a rollercoaster, some are good, some are bad. But with the latest one I was pretty impressed.
  13. lol, sounds like some fun stuff you guys deal with.Out of curiosity, how do you find the true hoster of a site/server if all of their information is hidden?
  14. There's no set number -- it depends on your quality of post and other factors. More or less your point of posting shouldn't be solely for hosting, but also to make contributions to the community and/or to learn (as the Xisto name suggests). The value of posts is very fluid. Some may be worth almost nothing, some are worth a lot. And technically, you don't need any posts to host here. You can get the cheap plans using cash as well (if you're new to web design, $10 for 10 years is cheap -- 8 cents a month).
  15. I completely agree with you on this. I've never liked widescreen and don't understand why it's become the norm. Even when movies had widescreen and normal versions I couldn't stand wide. Now there's not much of a choice. I am running a dual-monitor setup right now with one wide (23" Acer) and one square (19" Samsung). It's a little awkward having two different resolutions and all but I find it to be a lot better than running two wides.
  16. This is pretty accurate. At one point there was a pretty popular editorial about how the consoles themselves cause companies to lose money, and that's why they charge so much for games and accessories. I know that when the PS3 originally came out and was $499/599, the cost to Sony for each system was $750-800. Even so, people complained. Prices go down over time because the costs get lowered over time, but the fact still remains that the companies have to earn money. If they don't, they can't continue making new systems and then people will complain from the lack of gaming systems. It's a pretty vicious cycle caused by consumers wanting to get everything for nothing, without even considering the consequences of their request.
  17. This. As far as I know it's not possible to have the domain pointing to two locations, as that's more or less like saying "I have two addresses" and leaving everything else in the open. For example, you're not telling the client (visitors) which server has what file(s) you need, therefore their system would have to guess and it'd cause too many complications. What you could do, however, is set up a subdomain and have that link to the forums (possibly? never tried it off-site before) so that you could use an address like forums.yourdomain.com to use the forums. I'm not 100% sure on whether or not that'd work with the separation though.
  18. That site has to be the most confusing one I've ever used. The GUI is clunky, the organization is messed up -- it's just hard to even tell what's going on because there's no clear indication of what to do or how.For example, in the FPS game there was nobody to go against in the battle. It was just me. And because there were no enemies I couldn't kill anyone. Along with this, it costs 500 credits to enter the match (as you can then take other players' credits), however even though there were no enemies I still lost the credits. So basically they just disappeared.
  19. I wouldn't classify games like Team Fortress 2 as being an MMOFPS. It's just a regular online one. Not to say it isn't a great game (I like it a lot).Looking over the other games on the list I don't feel any of those are truly MMO's. A MMO requires a lot of players to be in one consistent world -- such as in upcoming games (I think one is the new Battlefield) with 128-256-512 players on one field.
  20. Odd that you should bring up the Office/Excel issues. Not sure if it's related but I experience the same thing with OpenOffice on Windows 7. Overall I like Windows 7 more than the other two (Vista was just horrible), but some things like GameSpy still act up quite a bit with it. But other than that, it's faster, boots faster, looks better and just feels better overall.
  21. My favorites would be Pizza, Hamburgers and Mangos (not all at the same time, ).
  22. Watched the entire thing and I loved the story! He did bring up a lot of good points (such as how too much security would have hindered his ability to get his Mac back) and it was a great learning experience.I had never thought of using services like DynDNS like that before!
  23. Any type of cell phone can get viruses (or spyware), as they are basically just computers with different features. Though this is true, I wouldn't worry about it as the chances that a phone will be targeted for attacks is very slim. There's just not enough to gain from it.
  24. There are actually a few ways to handle something like this:1) You could implement Google Translate into your blog (or I'm sure there's Extensions that will do it for you)2) You can run two separate ones (like you were saying), of which each could be, for example, in its own folder (site.com/en, site.com/eu, etc.) or subdomain (en.site.com, eu.site.com, etc.)3) You can work out a custom design that allows you to have certain sections on two different "home pages"
  25. What is the actual size of the ISO's? It seems to me like they just might be dual-layered ones (which holds around 7.5 GB's). The only real way to "split" them is to open them in PowerISO, MagicISO, etc. and extract the files to your PC, then just copy them manually. Note that if you do this and you have to "install" something from a disc, however, that you will have complications as you'll need to copy all the files off the DvD's every time you want to do the install.
