This Google AdSense preview tool looks like a good thing to use, but I am suprised it is created for Internet Explorer. We all know that Google supports Firefox in a way, and we would expect from Google that they created a Firefox extension, too. This can be considered forcing AdSense users to use Internet Explorer - maybe Microsoft paid Google for this? Sure, there are Firefox extensions for this, but they are not mentioned on google.com.

In order to show that malicious software is present even without OS security holes, researchers have developed a prototype of malware that cannot be detected. It is invisible even on Windows Vista, which is supposed to be fully protected from these kinds of attacks. The concept Blue Pill, which is the prototype name, uses AMD's SVM/Pacifica virtualization technology and enables complete take-over of the operating system. The user is not aware of this, because everything happens without the computer being restarted, even without lowering the computer performance. Blue Pill doesn't use bugs in the OS, and can be used on other operating systems, such as Linux and FreeBSD that are on a 64bit platform. Even though this was just a demonstration, not detecting malware is a big problem. Fortunately, the problem (and the solution, hopefully) has been sighted long before attacks will appear.

It really depends on how new it is. If it's new like in "It's new - I just rented a host and uploaded only the index.html page", then it will not get accepted. On the other hand, if it is "I just bought a domain, but the site has been developed over the past month and it has more than 100 pages", it will probably be accepted. There are only a few things that you have to worry about: your site musn't be "Under construction" you must have a fair amount of content/pages the site musn't be against the Google AdSense (warez, pornography) overall, it should be a good quality web site, not like the ones that are only supposed to bring you AdSense profit When I applied for AdSense, I was using a small web site with a small amount of content. Somehow I was accepted, but I didn't earn much. So, even if you do get accepted, you need a good site nevertheless if you want good profit. At the moment I am working on a big web site with a lot of content (about 500 pages), and I am getting a domain name soon. Since I want real profit with this one, I will put up Google Ads only when I reach 100 visitors per day. You must have good tactics

My Own Car Design Done With 3DS Max Rate It!
pyost replied to LikMeBalleFM's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Wow, this is really some nice work. If we ignore the wholes and the missing parts, the car looks great and detailed. The wheels are quite real and good-looking and..Well, there aren't many things I can comment, since a lot is not finished. I do have one question. The right side of the car, where the door should be, you are going to modify that, right? Because it looks rather flat to me. I can't wait to see the final project -
Make Your Site Search Engine Friendly: mod_rewrite
pyost replied to iGuest's topic in Search Engines
As for point number two, most people can easily bypass this problem. I suppose not many of you have created their own dynamic sites, but use Content Management Systems and Blog software. These types of web sites usually support additional components (modifications, hacks, call them whatever you want) that automatically deal with this topic. For example, Joomla! CMS and WordPress have mod_rewrite support by default, without any additions. I don't know about phpNuke, e107 etc. -
What you just mentioned is one of the most common problems People create things THEY like, without thinking about other people. Some do it on purpose (like you), and some just think that everyone will like their design. I believe that all web designers (including me) start the second way. I used to create really ugly sites just because I thought they were really cool. It took me over a year to realize what people really like. Fortunately, I've managed to skip the group which deliberately creates sites only they like, and now I can create a template that 70 percent of the visitors will like.

Yeah, I'd never have to post again I just need to go on a shouting rampage with you and Jeigh You see, Xisto is a more of a serious community, whereas Xisto is for relaxing. You don't expect fancy and colourful desks and chairs in a lawyer company, do you? But on the other hand, you do expect to see them in kindergarten. That's how I would compare Xisto and Xisto - we are serious, and therefore don't need those silly menus! ... Please, install the as soon as possible, pleeeeeeeeeease

I would still use Firefox, because I'm used to it and Internet Explorer 7 has nothing new to offer. I haven't tried this myself, so I need someone to confirm it, but I guess it still misinterprets the CSS code (for example ignores the !important thing) and therefore messes up a majority of web sites. If that one is solved, I congratulate them, but it's still not enough. It took them too long to insert tabs, and now it's an old idea, so nothing revolutionary. Firefox is still the best

Visit My Site, Internet Stops For A While
pyost replied to wutske's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I don't know if you noticed, but this topic is TEN months old! I don't thing he has these problems anymore, or he would let us know. -
Most certainly will, especially if it's like Underground 2, the best Need For Speed, in my opinion. Yes, Most Wanted was good, but it's an idea used to many times. On the other hand, both Underground games are unique in their own way. But there is one thing I am worried about. In Underground 2 we had a whole city and all those improvements when compared to Underground 1. What new can we get now? I'm sure they have a few ideas in their sleeve, but we shouldn't expect anything revolutionary.

The "title" attribute is the one you should use. A long time ago () "alt" was the only attribute, and it was supposed to be shown when the image can't be displayed. However, many people used it to give image a title. So as to solve this problem, the "title" tag was introduced. Now, since the problem was solved, "alt" is used to describe image in case it doesn't display, whereas "title" gives image a title which is displayed as a tooltip.

Bruteforcing E-mail Addresses It could happen to you...
pyost replied to Shrike's topic in Security issues & Exploits
But he (or she maybe) wouldn't be using a publicly available program if he had 20 computers! Those kinds of people usually create their own bruteforcing programs and have enough knowledge so they don't get caught. If you are not one of them, cracking passwords is a painful job. I remember when I tried bruteforcing my password which was in the form of md5 hash. This form of encryption is widely spread because the encrypting process cannot be reversed - the only way is to bruteforce it. With my computer (which is let's say middle class) it would take OVER 400 DAYS to crack a 8-character password using letter (both lowercase and uppercase) and numbers. And I bet Google, Yahoo!, MSN and similar web mail services have better ways of protecting the password than 32bit md5 hash -
Let's start at the beginning This is what you have to do to edit a blog entry appearence (including the title). For the post number, you should edit this part of the CSS: .id { color: #686C24; padding-right: 3px; } For the title: h1, h1 a:link, h1 a:visited { color: #FFA303; font-size: 20px; font-family: verdana; text-transform: uppercase; font-weight: bold; padding: 0; margin: 7px 0 0 0; text-decoration: none; } Just a note: by editing most of the attributes for h1, you will also affect the blog entry number, because it is nested between <h1> tags. Here's what I'm talking about: <h1><span class="id">028</span><a href="http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Shmollege ..</a></h1> Next, the "posted by" part. It is nested between <h2> tags, so you have to edit the following code: h2 a:link, h2 a:visited { color: #A12600; text-decoration: none; }h2 a:hover { color: #DF3500; text-decoration: none; } The first half defines how the poster link will look, and the other half how it will look when hovered over. If you wish to edit that whole line appearence (font size or font family), you have to add another part to the CSS file, which will look like this: h2 { An attribute goes here An attribute goes here } And finally, the text itself. I'm a bit confused about this one, since it uses a class called "entry", which doesn't exist in the CSS file. Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm no CSS guru. You can try to change that by editing the body tag: body { font-family: verdana; font-size: 12px; color: #FFFFFF; text-align: center; background: #E1B26B url("images/bg.gif"); margin: 0; padding: 0; } Now let's switch to the sidebar. Since those titles ("Archives" etc.) are nested between <h4> tags, you should edit this part of the CSS: h4 { background: url("images/sidebg.jpg") no-repeat bottom; width: 198px; height: 28px; text-transform: lowercase; margin: 0px; padding-right: 50px; color: #E5B655; font-size: 10px; text-align: right; font-family: verdana; } For the menu at the top, I think this is the only part you should edit (first for normal state, second for hovering): #menu ul li a { text-decoration: none; color: #494949; font-weight: bold; font-size: 13px; font-family: verdana; padding: 83px 13px 0 13px; font-weight: bold; }#menu ul li a:hover { background: #000; -moz-opacity: 0.7; color: #FFF; border-bottom: #99280A 5px solid; text-decoration: none; background: } As for the "View related topics" thing, where is it? I can't seem to find it, and therefore don't know how to remove it ~edit~ OK, this should remove that annoying thing. Just delete this part of the code from your index.php file. The one that is a part of the theme, not the one in the root folder <div id="shelf"> <div id="inf"> <div class="clr"> </div> <div id="com"> <div class="tinfo">Commentors</div> <ul> <?php get_tenrecentcomments(); ?> </ul> </div> <div id="ent"> <div class="tinfo">Entries</div> <ul> <?php query_posts('showposts=10');?> <?php if (have_posts()) : while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?> <li><span class="intr"><?php echo zeroise($post->ID, 3); ?></span><a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>"><?php the_title() ?></a></li> <?php endwhile; endif; ?> </ul> </div> <div class="clr"> </div> </div> <br /><br /> </div> If the layout messes up, or something looks wrong, try by returning this line: <div class="clr"> </div>

I guess I was too young to play GTA 1 and 2 when they came out, but I sure did enjoy GTA 3 and Vice City. To be honest, before GTA 3, I've never played a game with such a world and so much freedom.Compared to GTA 3, Vice City is a lot more flashier and I never like it as much as GTA 3. It might show the "vice city" in its real light, but that's not what I want from a GTA game. I want a dark atmosphere which suits my actions, if you know what I mean :DI haven't tried San Andreas yet, only because I'm playing games less and less. From what I've heard, it does deserve my attention, but it will have to wait a few more months.

I don't think there is a strict CTR limit, but I think you are safe if it is below 2 percent. As for being banned for "click fraud", I have also heard that this happens to many people, and not only after they pass 100 dollars, but even before.I have never recieved a warning from Google, and I hope that won't happen. Just don't click your own ads (a sentence repeated so many times) and watch the Google statistics carefully. If you see a sudden jump of clicks, be sure to contact Google and tell them you have nothing to do with it, that it must be someone trying to get you banned. Google has no patience for cheaters, but is good to its loyal users.

Yeeeah, ZoneAlarm is a real life saver. If you are offline, it doesn't matter which programs try to access the internet, but if you are online all the time, you should care. Let's say about 80 percent of programs try to access the internet when starting. And I wouldn't be suprised if I got a "Critical error" warning when disabling IE's internet access. I'm sure Windows and IE send various data to Microsoft without us even knowing. That's why it's good to control every single port on your machine

Free Domian Name Top Level Dot Com Dot Net Dot Org Etc...
pyost replied to tphilakone's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I'd have to agree with Vyoma. Not only does HostBidder have a good reputation, but it also has a rather good crediting system - well, not as good as here at Xisto. Furthermore, d4free.com uses phpBB forums, which is extremelly unprofessional, in my opinion. Everyone knows how unsecure they are, so why use them? HostBidder uses vBulletin, which is one of the most secure BBSes.Also, you can tell if a service is good depending on the number of members. HostBidder has 4000 members, Xisto 12000, but d4free.com less than 1000! It would be better to stick with a bigger forum. That way you can be more sure it is good, and there ought to be more topics you can participate in. -
Well, what would you do if you were Bill Gates? Would you allow updates through a program your company had not made? I doubt it. It's all about controlling the market, and it seems that all techniques are allowed. We (Windows users) probably don't know half the things Internet Explorer does behind out back! OK, that sounded like a conspiracy.. But maybe there is such a thing..

When I bumped into this, I was shocked, but pleasantly shocked. It seems that there are people crazy enough to recreate Star Wars IV: A New Hope in DOS mode. And they did this only by using ASCII characters! What's more, you can watch the WHOLE movie, which is over one hour long. So, Star Wars fans (I'm one of you, lol), this is what you have to do: Start Telnet (Start > Run > "telnet") When Telnet starts, type "o" (without quotes) and press ENTER Type in "towel.blinkenlights.nl" and press ENTER Wait a few seconds for the credits to pass, and then enjoy!

I second this. Sure, I did use Internet Exploder a lot, but at that time I was just an unexperienced kid. It took some time for my dad to persuade me to switch to Firefox (), but when I did, I found out what a blessing it had been. Of course, after that, I just had to see if Mozilla was good in other areas, too. I download Thunderbird - and guess what? I liked it more than Outlook Express Mozilla's products are fast, free, full of options and are spreading. On the other hand, IE and Microsoft steal things from other companies (Tabs? Where have I seen them before?) and are slowly losing their customers. According to Wikipedia, Firefox is being used by 12% of the internet population, whereas IE is used by 85%. You might ask yourself - how come there is such a difference if Firefox is better? It's quite simple actually. Out of those 85%, 35% don't know how to change the browser, and 30% use it through AOL browser without even knowing it. Microsoft should be embarrassed, for these are not the tactics a good product uses.

Hello I'm glad that this issue has been resolved. It seems that the termination script doesn't run so often, or it requires less credits than -30. Topic closed.

If only they stopped right there, life would be much easier. I don't want to hear people telling me that I'm spending too much time online and that it's ruining my social life. I have goals to accomplish, and I'm not going to do that by hangubg out in various cafes. We geeks need to stick together, and the Internet is the best place to have our secret sessions

I have to agree with you on this one. I think I've never had 15 posts in one day Not to mention what it did to my credit count And as for the Jeigh-dressed-up-like-a-little-girl idea, I'm sorry, but I think I'll pass it. For the sake of my life.

Aww.. *sniff sniff* Now I'm gonna cry like a little girl (a.k.a. Jeigh) But I understand what duties are, and sometimes you just have to give up on things you enjoyed so much But I do hope we'll be seeing you from time to time. Don't let us down
