Mysql Error Never Seen On My Site Before (too Many Connections).
pyost replied to Chesso's topic in Web Hosting Support
It seems that MySQL was down at the time you posted that message. That's why your forum couldn't connect. I'm quite sure that it is working now. As for the first problem, I can only take a wild guess that too many people were trying to access your site and therefore the database, too. I believe that this can be a consequence of a DoS (denial of service) attack, when your site is "bombed" with numerous requests and connections. -
And you are replying to what? The creator of the thread didn't need a free forum, he just needed a few pointers on how to install one on his server. Not to mention that this service is very unprofessional. I've already seen this template, which means it is free. Anyone who is doing some serious business should have a unique template.

Free Gmail Account! Click here for one.
pyost replied to CyberReaper1405241516's topic in Search Engines
It seems that getting a Google Account doesn't get you a GMail account, whereas it works the other way around. Google obviously still isn't giving GMail account away, which is good - I can't imagine what will happen when this service becomes available to everyone. But until then, you can ask someone to send you an invitation, for example vhortex -
If you own the second package, it is not possible to upgrade anymore. However, if you need that space for a database, you can use a free MySQL database host. After Googling a bit, I wasn't able to find a good one (ouch), but I'm sure you could find it after some time :DThe thing about MySQL hosts is that the database is hosted on their server, but you can connect to it. In your configuration, just change the host from "localhost" to whatever the database host URL is. And if you need more than 150MB, you should consider BUYING a hosting package

I was surfing the web, checking out some good host, when I bumped into Terrahost. I know there are many hosts that ask for a lot of money for their services, but this one has really shocked me. The plans this host offers are pathetic, whereas the prices are extremelly high. Here's what I mean: Source: http://terrahost.com/hosting.html That's the worst package: only 5MB of space and 2GB of bandwidth (who would need that much?). No PHP or any other advance options. The price? Only $155 a year?!?!? If that's not a rip-off, I don't know what is! For the same amount of money you can get hell of a lot better hosting at Xisto - Web Hosting. For $9.99 a month you get 5.4GB space and 99GB bandwidth. Hm, which host would I choose..? Things become even worse when you look at the "best" package. 50MB? Still not enough. 10GB bandwidth? The only good things here, as far as I am concerned. PHP3??? Oh my, isn't that a bit.. OLD!?! And with all those "advantages" you pay only $480 a year. Sounds like a good offer, doesn't it? Well, it doesn't. My advice is, stay away from this host. I would be suprised if I found out they have any users at all. The offer is awful and the sky is the limit to the prices. Why use this host? I have no idea.

I'm not sure, but using the Google logo might be illegal Anyhow, the site really isn't special at all. It is obviously there only to attract people to their real web site. The link will get posted on forums like Xisto and then people will click on ACM. Not to mention that the real web site is hardly ever updated and is rather useless. Just a pathetic attempt.

I beleive that all you have to do is wait. Since it can take some time for the statistics (bandwidth usage, number of visitors etc.) to be updated, that might be the problem with space usage. If it doesn't change in the next 24 hours, it's a problem. On the other hand, if you are sure there is free space and you can upload files through FTP, consider it a minor problem.

You don't need any programs for this, your OS can show you what hardware you have! Nevertheless, programs with that function usually offer benchmarking utilities, which makes them good to use. AIDA32 is very good, but not as good as Everest, which is actually AIDA32's successor. Unfortunatelly, there isn't a free version anymore, only two trial version.

Geting A Domain Name need help never done this before
pyost replied to BitShift's topic in Web Hosting Support
I have never encountered this error, but can take a wild guess.1) The nameservers data you entered is incorrect2) You have to wait some time for the nameserver changes to take effect - it usually takes up to 48 hours -
You have not been approved yet. It usually takes some days for the administrator to review your request, they are also living beings. After you get approved or denied, an administrator will post a reply to the topic you started (http://forums.xisto.com/topic/90664-topic/?findpost=1064351317)

Even though I don't really like the web site, I have to admit that the idea is marvelous. It is good when you find out there are things that make the web not monotonious. We could say that all possible ideas are already used - this site shows us there is always something new. Hooray to ideas!

Backup Problem In Cpanel Heres the error...
pyost replied to Omkar™'s topic in Websites and Web Designing
I have always been confused by this, but it hasn't bothered me. Maybe it means that you can't RESTORE a backup by using cPanel."Generate full backup" has always worked for me perfectly. After about a minute I would get a confirmation e-mail and than download the backup. On the other hand, using full backup isn't a must. There are only two pros to this approach:1) You have a backup in the root folder of your server2) Your databases get backed up, tooIf you eliminate number 1), it is easier to "download today's backup" and each database you have separately. -
Using The Internet For Name Suggestions. A nameless cute kitten
pyost replied to Alegis's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I didn't hear a name like this, it just bumped into my mind all of a sudden. Why not name it Chuffy? It is a typical pet name, and I think it would suit your cat perfectly Also, you might consider using a RPG name creator such as http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. -
That's (not) exactly why I don't use the recycle bin. No need to ever empty it. I just start up Total Commander and it skips the recycle bin. This just proves how buggy Windows is.@UZIThe one who was told to hack 127.0.0.1? Great story

Geting A Domain Name need help never done this before
pyost replied to BitShift's topic in Web Hosting Support
Since you obviously don't mind posting, I would sugges using http://www.findingresult.com/?dn=hostbidder.com&pid=9POR3TG0A. The forum has a similar concept to Xisto, and gives you point for posting (of course, the crediting system isn't as good as here). In order to get a domain for one year, you need approx. a bit more than 100 posts. It allows you to point the domain name to Xisto's nameservers, so you can park it here. After one year, you can renew the domain name by collecting the required number of points. Of course, if you don't want to post, https://de.godaddy.com/ is one of the best services and I am using it myself. I higly recommend it - my domain was active 5 minutes after I paid for it (MasterCard). -
I don't think iPower is that reliable and I believe that some functions are blocked. After all, what can you expect for 3 dollars? The best there is, in my opinion, is GoDaddy. It's true that you pay 11 dollars for one year, but it's well worth it.

Major Website Mistakes Improve your site
pyost replied to BigmanB's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Yes, you really should avoid JavaScript, unless it really is necessary. There is always a slight possibility that the target browser disabled JavaScript. If you want multi-level menus, stick to pure CSS and HTML.As for the marque, it's not as useful as it is (was) cool-looking. Who wants to chase text in order to read it?? I did use it when starting web design, but soon I figured out how useless and stupid it is. -
Gmail Exploit: Discovered By 14 Years Old Boy

Oh, don't worry about that. I believe that this has been fixed one day after it had been discovered. After all, that is Google -
Since I do not own a Bluetooth cellphone or a computer, I can only tell you what I've heard. It seems that if Bluetooth is switched on your cell phone, anyone can connect to it - both computers and other cell phones. It's like leaving your IP address on the internet. The best way to deal with this is to switch off Bluetooth when you are not using it.

Here's another funny thing on Google, but this time it was created on purpose by the Google team. First a short intro. Douglas Adams wrote a great book called "The hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy." Amongst other things, a computer had been created to tell people "the answer to life, the universe and everything". More about it can be read here. After working for millions of years, the computer just told the people "42". Anyhow, Google decided to make a joke out of this. Clicking this link will search for "the answer to life, the universe and everything". Check out what you get

Bluetime / Azoogle Ads Pay Per Impression (CPM) Program Review
pyost replied to OpaQue's topic in Online Advertising
According to their TOS, the minimum payment is 50 US dollars. -
That really doesn't help with Google since it concetrates on the content of the website. When it comes to ranking, it would be quite hard to change anything by inserting these words. The only things that helps is having a website on a certain topic. However, you can easily get banned from Google AdSense if they discovere that you are trying to display ads which really don't have anything to do with the website's theme (by using these keywords).
