Wow, I'd never say that Google is already eight years old. It seems as if it appeared on the Internet only 2 or 3 years ago! What's more, it looks like no one knows that it is its birthday today. Even Google didn't boast - they just created a new, birthday logo You can see it here. Google has really grown a lot for these eight years. It started off as just another search engine, but it didn't take long for it to become the best search engine. But that's wasn't it. Google continued to develop, and created numerous services, out of which the most important ones, in my opinion, are Blogger (well, they do own it), Google Earth, GMail and AdSense/AdWords. You can take a look at the rest over here. It's not like they only created new products. Google also worked a lot on the search engine(s). Here and here you can see various search "hints" that really can help a lot. There is also that new game, Google Image Labeler, which makes it easier to find images - now who would think of that except Google? Happy birthday, Google!

I don't think it is that hard to use, but I don't like it from my personal expierence. When I was entering the CMS (Content Management System) world, I tried to install php-nuke first. Unfortunatelly, I had certain problems during the installation, and that put me off. Now I am glad that happened, since I tried Joomla!, and was absolutely thrilled. While it might not be very easy to use in the beginning, as time passes by you will discover all its functions and why it is so good. So, before you even try "playing" with php-nuke, I advise you to try Joomla. It is more secure, and free - if I am not mistaken, the latest version of php-nuke costs 10 dollars

I second that. Of course, it is always better to fully develop your web site first, and then switch to the design. Here are some things that I would change. The pathway text should be separated from the bottom border a bit (that includes the date, too). I would give it 'padding-bottom: 3px;' The header isn't very good. While I can't say it is TOO simple, it could use some more background effects, and LESS text effects. Also, I would change the text colour to a brighter one, probably white. You need to add a 'padding-left' to the left sidebar, since the text touches the browser border, which makes it hard to read sometimes. The top menu is neatly done, but has sharp edges, which I don't like. As for the content, the titles (with the background) should be vertically centered. I think it looks better that way. And the last thing is connected to the right sidebar. Again, I think it is another thing that needs to be centered, but horizontally. Be advised that I am using Firefox, so some of these things might be good in Internet Explorer. But if it's not good in all browsers, it's not good at all

This is quite easy The most used software must be Mozilla Firefox. If the computer is turned on, so is Firefox. Since I have permanent access to the Internet, it would be a shame if I did something else Next, there are two messengers that I use - MSN (it's slow, but all my friends use it) and GTalk (another perfect piece of software from Google) Of course, I musn't forget WinAmp! I guess I'm a music freak when it comes to certain bands, so I have to listen to them 24/7 Total Commander - one who claims to be a computer geek, but doesn't use this - he/she must be lying Notepad - yeah, I do use the good old Notepad It is usually when there are is some fixing that needs to be done on my web sites. Besides Notepad, I also use Dreamweaver MX, because it is easier for creating CSS files, because of the highlighting. Photoshop CS2 - Although I'm not very good at it, I still have to use it when designing a template. But sometimes, when I have the inspiration, I make something for deviantART You might notice that I haven't mentioned a mail client. That's because I use GMail 99% of my time. However, I still get mail regularly on my "root" account, which I check through Mozilla Thunderbird. I didn't start it for two month, and when I did, I saw that I had 70 new e-mails

Exactly. There are numerous differences between (X)HTML and PHP because of which there's isn't anything like FrontPage for PHP. As already stated, PHP is a server side scripting language - that means that it will only run on a server supporting PHP. Why? Because it uses resources provided by the server. It is more dependant that HTML. Here's a simple example. In HTML, you must define exactly what you want to be shown, and that's why there is a possibility of using WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editors. A single PHP file, however, can output different things in different moments. If it contains a part there generates the current date, the output will change every day, but without changing the code. That isn't possible with HTML. In order to completely understand this, you really would have to learn at least some basic PHP, as it is a standard nowadays.

If you are using pure HTML, I believe it can only be done with frames, which is so not good, nor professional. However, you could also use a small portion of PHP, and that would make your life easier. There's a function in PHP called include(), and it just includes a file in the page. So, instead of having the same text on multiple pages, replace it with <?php include("text.html"); ?>. Then create a text.html file with the appropriate content.

Aah, that makes all the difference But do we really need another forum software? I mean, take a look at SMF. It is free, and has all the functions that IPB 1.3 does (or at least most of them). Furthermore, it is secure and updated constantly. OK, I understand if they want something unique - but the things I just mentioned might be the reason why there are no news on this ZetaBoards software.

And I don't see just how that could happen. All the newer versions cost somewhat less than 100 dollars, and as far as I know, you are not allowed to use it for multiple copies. If you think that way, they would have to spend 100 dollars for each member that registers! I don't see it coming any time soon...

Nothing new on the horizon, unfortunatelly. It is well-known that phpBB is the BBS with most security issues. And with hundreds of cracking tutorials on-line, even a kid could get into phpBB. On the other hand, it would be hard, even for a pro, to crack SMF. In my opinion, it is the best free BBS when it comes to security. It might not be as good-looking and customizable (the number of mods) as phpBB, but it sure is more secure.

Yes, it has been having some problems recently. As far as I can figure it out, MySQL access isn't being properly managed. But this should be fixed soon, since the admins now that the problem exists.

I'm not so sure about PHP 5 - it should work OK on servers with PHP 4.0 installed. For example, Xisto doesn't have PHP 5.0 due to technical reasons, but everything works fine nevertheless. But yes, WordPress IS the best blogging system out there. If, however, you are not able to use a host with all the necessary functions, you might want to try out https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?service=blogger&passive=1209600&continue= http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/= http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ . It is a Google's service which offers free blog accounts (you get YourName.blogspot.com as the address). It's the best thing for newbie bloggers, in my opinion.

Works for me.. When accessing it, first you will be asked to accept a Xist certificate (which you should of course, do), and then enter the login data.

Some of your posts might have been deleted, and hence you lost a certain amount of credits. That's why it is advisable to always have as much credits as possible - if you think you won't be able to post for 10 days, get to 20 credits before leaving. As for being suspended, after your credit count gets over 4, it will take approximately an hour for the account to be unsuspended again.

After pointing the domain name to Xisto's name servers, you will be able to access you web site throught ftp.niranvv.com, so this must be an error of some kind. If you are using Total Commander, the ftp. prefix isn't necessary (I'm not sure about other FTP clients). Also, until you point the domain, you can connect to your given IP address as the FTP server. Why not try and see Yes, you can do that, and then use the cPanel's File Manager.

Out there, on the internet, you can find numerous services offering free forums. However, InvisionFree is on of the few offering IPB (if not the only one). That's why they are better than the rest.On the other hand, since it's FREE, you don't get an up-to-date version of IPB, but rahter version 1.3 (which I believe is the last free version). As we all know, until 2.0, IPB had some major flaws, and that's the only reason why this service isn't perfect - but it's still better than the ones offering phpBB

If I were you, I'd check out this link: http://freeprogrammingresources.com/freephp.html It contains twelve PHP tutorials and I think they are good to strat with. Also, it might be a good idea to play with a CMS/blog software and explore its source files. That way you see how PHP really works, without learning anything by heart.

It really depends on what kind of person you are, as well as how you were raised, where you live etc.For example, I live in Serbia (Orthodox church), but here we don't have a "strong" connection with God. Also, my parents are atheists, so I was raised in a "no God" area. But neither of those have as much influence as the third thing - which is science.Since I'm all about science () I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe there is something that controls us all - especially if there is no proof. Thank you, but I'd rather stick to the Big Bang theory and Chrales Darwin's ideas...

Yes, you did request package #2, and it was approved, which can be seen here. I advise you to contact microscopic^earthling or Opaque and notify them of this error, so they can fix it.

A Word About The "FREE HOSTING" System
pyost replied to miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG's topic in Web Hosting Support
It is safe, because it all ads up in some way. First of all, you have ads on the forums - by posting, we (the members) create more and more pages for ads to be displayed on. But this is just a small income. The main one is https://xisto.com/ - and it's not rare that someone from Xisto/Xisto switches to Xisto - Web Hosting after he realizes his site is getting bigger and bigger And so should you, if this ever happens! -
Is It Possible To Get Hosting Here And At Trap 17?
pyost replied to lonebyrd's topic in Web Hosting Support
While I thought it were this way, too, I turned out to be wrong. You CAN have hosting at both Xisto and Xisto. And here's how I know that: So, if you are able to maintain both accounts, just do it -
But here, they have me Oh, I guess it depends on what type of person you are. I'm more serious, and therefore I prefer Xisto over Xisto. Someone who is more of a relaxed person would have better time at Trap

Hosting Help Pre-installed Scripts Downloading Joomla
pyost replied to Mafamba Team's topic in Web Hosting Support
Then you are doing something wrong. Try manually installig Joomla! - download it from the official web site (https://www.joomla.org/), upload it to the "joomla" folder and run the installation file. -
Well, you could say that these two boards are connected, but only because the owner is the same. If you tried to log in with your username/password, you would see that it is not possible. However, if you registered at Xisto, you would be allowed to apply for hosting and acquire another 150 megabytes But it's too much trouble maintaining both accounts, in my opinion. And yes, Xisto IS better than Xisto
