What Do You Do When Two Friends Betray You? yeah.. stupid ass friends
iGuest replied to spawn_syxx9's topic in The Vent
battle of the girlsWhat Do You Do When Two Friends Betray You?Here is the long story. Please followMy best friend alicia and I met in the 7th grade. Now I'm a senior in college. Eversince then she has meant the world to me. We were very close. Along the way she introduced me to a few other friends and we became a click of four. During this period we shared information. But to my knowledge some info was only share between some people and others were left out. Unknowingly I talked alicia's biznis to diana. So Diana went and told Alicia what I have said. And now they all give me the silent treatment and I'm this big bad friend. So should I go back and talk it out with them or just leave it alone and keep it moving! -question by martine -
Sandisk Memory Card Write Protection watch out for that lock switch
iGuest replied to jc804's topic in Hardware Workshop
Write protectSandisk Memory Card Write ProtectionThe write protect switch is actually in the card reader, just like on old floppy disks. This is why it works even if the plastic switch part falls out. A friend of mine has a laptop where the card reader has reversed the meaning of the write protect switch. And my camera (Canon) with a modified firmware ignores the write protect switch and writes regardless of the state. Hope this clears up someof the above confusions. -reply by Spiff -
What's The Worst Experience You Had In Your Life?
iGuest replied to FiReStOrM's topic in General Discussion
Worst Experience EverWhat's The Worst Experience You Had In Your Life?Anyone who knows me, knows I am a big freak when it comes to food born illness. I am contantly asking how old a certain food item is, and checking if everything is fully cooked, I prefer them to be well done; whatever it is. Anyway, my paranoia isn't just something that I came across, it has a purpose. My worst experiences (I have two) were when I was very young, and clueless. I don't remember much, all I do remember is a lot of puking and lack of air, a hospital bed, IVs and x-rays. I'm not sure what I had but I spent like three days in the hospital. Another bad experience had to do with KFC chicken, oranges and the danger zone (tempurature wise) it was awful. This, my friends, is why I make sure to heat up everything that needs heating, longer than necessarry. All I know, is that I'm not gunna go through any of that again. -reply by Hannah -

This is so interesting to me because I have recently started to think that life is some sort of game also. I enjoy playing video games and sports and I have learned many "life lessons" from them that I am starting to think that life is similar to a game with some obstacles, laughs, and tears. It's quite bizzare!! Oh life. -reply by Caligirlie3

Pagfile ManagementHow To Defrag MFT, Pagefile etc. On Boot? When ever I install an OS I create a small partion which I call S:SWAP (that what it used to be called) that is about 2 times the memory of the computer. With todays hard drive sizes this is almost nothing space wise. I them move the Pagefile to this drive, set min to the memory size and max to a number just shy of the volume size. I never worry about it again. Now, If I could do the same thing with the hibernation file... -reply by Mr. Z -

Using Norton Ghost to replace a hard driveNorton Ghost TutorialHi, How can the clone feature be used to swap out the HD with the OS? My old C drive is starting to go, so I got a new HD and cloned my old C drive to it with Ghost 14. When I replaced the old drive with the new one, the computer wouldn't start up. I have SATA drives, if that makes a difference. Thanks -question by T106 -

Adding East Asian Fonts To Your System For Windows XP
iGuest replied to vujsa's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Japanese/Chinese charactersAdding East Asian Fonts To Your System@Feedbacker Actually, modern Japanese kanji characters are indeed modified from Chinese characters in that they both (nowadays) use simplified forms of the original Chinese character. For example, the Japanese/Simplified Chinese character for "learn/study" is 学, whereas the Traditional Chinese character is more complex: 學. Coincidentally, both China and Japan began major efforts to create the modern simplified forms at around the same time (about 50-60 years ago); China's changes came out of the Cultural Revolution, and Japan's came after World War II, both as parts of efforts to make their written languages easier to learn. Past that, there are some kanji specific to Japan (kokuji) and not used in China or in other Chinese language countries. -

I have used kaspersky, avast, nod32, and here are my comments based on my experience kaspersky is so paranoid, it "complains" even when a ym message is detected. I did not like it avast, it was I who found out that my pc has been infested. So many things went through avast without its detection. Another downside of avast is its update time, it takes me so long to update the virus definition file. nod32, same as avast, there were so many things that went through it without its detection now I'm using avira. It's good in detecting foreign objects, also takes a short time to update rising: I have not tried it yet. I've seen it run though. I have yet to read articles about it. -reply by phraensys

Dating Sims? If this is wrong subforum, please move
iGuest replied to Vicious_AD's topic in Computer Gaming
Reply to MisatoDating Sims?I entirely disagree with your post on Western animation. Obviously you have not seen a lot of animation on American television. Here are a few examples: South Park, Drawn Together, Family Guy, Futurama, American Dad, and Robot Chicken. None of those would be considered suitable for a child. However, there is not much angst in Western animation, due to there being a focus on comedy as the entertainment value. But I suppose it's common for people to make assumptions on Americans without doing appropriate research. Disney movies are meant to be simplistic and entertaining for children. I do not see how that influences Americans to despise anime as most people I know agree they can adequately differentiate what is for children and what is not. I also do not believe that good storylines are exclusive to Japan. That's a rather reckless statement, and it is even more reckless to say that Americans do not understand storylines like that. Heck, jocks on our local football team LOVE anime, and they're the biggest meatheads I've ever known. As for why I think the US lacks a decent market for dating sims... It could just be it hasn't entirely been a hit here yet. All of the otaku I know, guys and girls both, love to play them, and even import the games; however, it just might be that gaming companies are afraid to pick up these lesser known titles with anime art styles when most Americans are interested in FPS or MMORPG games. It's all about what would generate the most capital for them. While it would probably be a success, primarily with otaku living in the US, companies may still be afraid to take the step into that category of gaming. Sorry for the rant, but I was just browsing through and decided to provide some meager input. Personally, as a female, I'd love to see dating games in the US, though ones that target my audience will not be on the top of the list to provide here. I can hope, can't I? -reply by BoringPerson -

Operating System Not Found Error Displayed On Start Up
iGuest replied to jlhaslip's topic in Hardware Workshop
operation system not foundOperating System Not FoundIt just happened to me.I fixed it by doing the following: Inserted a cd-r with the bootable free program"Super Grub Disk" burned onto it. It gives the option to boot into Windows manually. My desktop came up normal. I turned the laptop off and it booted up normal by itself. Why it happened in the first place I don't know. But at least I'm running normal again. -reply by mikey
