  1. This is very interesting. Thank you so much for sharing.
  2. I have watched a few videos and specials about the ocean and the deep parts. One of the other ways that some animals and plants that live down there is they use bioluminesence. In particular some of them use the light to attract their prey so they can eat it. hehe. Its very difficult to study such animals because when bringing them to the surface they are so delicate and you have to try to keep them in a pressurized container if you are going to bring them up to the surface. What is interesting about some of those creatures is they are very simular to most creatures that live up top. The differance often lies not in hardness so much as how the chemicals that make up their bodies are structured.. Most chemical compounds have more than one way they bond and are shaped. These are called chemical isomers. Depending on the shape and the bond also depends on how stable they are and how strong they are.
  3. With anything that is positive there are many many negatives to be considered as well. So yes there is research going on with the hope in mind to deliver medications to the cancerous cells rather than the good cells. However, I would not be surprised if the government is watching this research very carefully for the possibilities of uses in the military. There are possibilities that this technology could also help with genetic coding in the future. Any preventive measures that can be made to save our children from being born with many of the birth defects out there would be great. My only concern is that eventually it will become a way that people make super humans or something. Right now genetics is also a very young science. Especially genetics therapy. There are a few diseases and genetic disorders that are treatable with genetic therapy. I can not recall the specifics but I do know that certain things can be done by enhalants and occationally by injection of genetic code. This code is often in the form of mRNA or other RNA Someetimes it is given in modified viruses. Its all very new and interesting. I am hoping that my school will offer the genetics class soon because I really would like to do further study into the way the whole thing works.
  4. Actually telephone companies have been slowly replacing traditional wiring with fiber optics for years. As the technology is improving the wiring gets replaced. Fiber optics are not that much more expensive than regular wires. In fact it is a little cheaper and fiber optics tend to last alot longer than traditional copper wire.
  5. Well then I think that some people have way too much time on their hands. LOL I mean really what the heck do you do with such a large prime number. LOL
  6. HmmmmI was hoping for a bit more information. This really did not inform me about how to build a dedicated server at all. I could find way more information on the rest of the internet than here. Sigh. If a post is going to have a title of how to do something I really think there should be alot more details.
  7. This is great but do you know that unless you also hide your code and source that people can still get your photos. I used to work for a web company in the web design department so I know all the tricks to be able to grab photos and to get ideas from sources. You do not have to right click to look at the source in IE you just have to click on the view menu and mouse down to view source. There are tons of tricks like that. If you are trying to protect a image. Make sure you put a water mark across the whole picture that can not be removed by cropping.
  8. Ideally when advertising on your own site or any other site out there the content in the advertising will reflect the site. I have noticed most of the time that is the case. I have a Google email account which is Gmail. Well as part of my terms of use I get targeted ads i my email box. I am guessing that based on keywords in my emails the ads are placed by them. Most of the time the ads I see which are text and pretty much unatrusive are right on. Once in a while its completely wrong.Alot of times when a new tv show comes out on tv there is a target market that the tv program is shooting for so they also search for advertisers who would fit with that audience. Also along with the target audience often times the show will be tested with the target audience and other audiences long before its even allowed to be shown on tv to make sure that they know what market to advertise to or that the show would even be successful. Also often times when show has been on for a little while they will do studies with Nielsens and other rating companies to see who watches the show and advertising and then will adjust the show and marketing accordingly.
  9. Yes that was up there in the amusement list. It was a April Fool's thingy. That person sure did have way too much time on their hands. It goes to show that anything can be spoofed. As far as Yahoo 360! goes though I am not overly impressed by it. Yahoo really does try to stick its fingers in everyone's pots. Its not really something I would spend alot of time on. I have a journal online and I have been and will continue to be happy with that. I probably will post occationally when I am bored on Yahoo but its not going to have the juicy stuff.
  10. It is my opinion that yahoo is loosing way too many users to GMail. Once gmail users started having more and more invites all of a sudden Yahoo has 1GB of storage and now they are working on a more sleek and ingenious design. I am not surprised. Mail is a comodity that more and more people need and use as the world continues to evolve and become more technologically dependent as well as based. So much more can be done with the use of email and electronic conferences. In order to be competative the email clients out there have to grow and become better with the times and the technology. For Yahoo the less users they have the less the advertisers will be getting and the less revenue that yahoo and other email account providers will be getting. I think its all about the dollar because if they don't provide a great service then the consumer will go somewhere else and <- snipped -> there. }
  11. Well currently there are 5 computers in working order in this house. We can have up to 7 working on the wired network. There can be way more than that if the computer has wireless capabilities. My house is wired for computer use. LOL. I have to upgrade mine eventually. Mine is slowly on a downward spiral.
  12. I currently have a 19 inch tv. I had a 27 in TV but I had to hit it and turn it off and on alot to keep it working. It used to squish the picture and fuzz out. I hated that TV. I am quite happy with my little 19 inch. Its just fine for my room. I can always go into my mom's room or downstairs if I want to watch a bigger tv. I loved visiting my dad in WI. He had a huge TV and I had a great time playing on my PSOne on his TV.
  13. When I was doing advertising that pays I looked at several options before I chose one. Clicksor was among them. Clicksor is really not a good choice. Google is alot better and thier business has been around for a much longer time than most. They make sure their ads are realavant to what you are looking at. I like that in a company. Plus they pay well for the clicks.
  14. Yet another new thing that I learned today. I like the way it sounds. Crunk. I am sure that if I actually listened to the music I would not like it so much. The the word crunk has a nice sound to it. It rolls off the tongue rather interestingly. Okay so I am up there in the weird meter.
  15. Well now that is quite interesting. I did not know that Houston was having a gas shortage. Thanks for telling us about this. I wanted to mention that when I was about 5 years old I remember there was a gas shortage in California too. I don't remember why. I was a little bit young then. But I remember the long lines to get into the gas station and the many colorful words my Dad was saying while we were waiting for the gas pumps.
  16. Yes Xisto does have all the right stuff on their servers for Word Press. that is what I am using on my blog. When you get hosted you will find in your cpanel a section called fantisco(not sure if I spelled that right). That section will have a whole slue of scripts that you can install on your website. Word Press is among a few of the choices you will have. Keep on posting and soon you will have the hosting credits you need to get a site with Xisto.
  17. A couple of days a go in my zoology class I learned about a rather unique insect. Its called a Taranchula Hawk. It is a wasp. This wasp has a rather unique way to spread its species. During the day it acts like any other wasp and feeds on flower nectar. At night it seeks out taranchula's burrows. It uses its feelers to entice the taranchula out. Sometimes the taranchula is too smart for it and won't come out. However if the taranchula is not smart it will come out. And a amazing dance ensues. If the wasp gets the better of the taranchula then it stings the taranchula until its docile. However it does not kill it. It then goes into the taranchula's burrow and does some rearranging and house cleaning. Mainly taking some rocks and dirt out and clearing the opening more. Once its done with the house cleaning the wasp stings the taranchula some more to make sure it stays docile and deposits it back into the burrow. The wasp leaves a little surprise however for the taranchula. There is an egg left on the the taranchula or in the burrow and when the larvae hatches it has a nice large meal to begin its life. I found this very interesting.
  18. Although I also really like movable type I use wordpress because its so much easier. Plus the movable type scripts sometimes uses up bandwidth a bit. In fact former web hosting I had banned movable type for that reason. I think its a great idea and that many people use it. I think that eventually movable type will be an added feature to livejournal which is a free journal service. What I love more than movable type is trackback. That is a great feature. It allows other people to link their blog entries to your blog entries. Its an amazing feature. Its just another way to connect the web.
  19. If you already have installed a script to your main directory then you are not going to beable to add the forum there. If you have decided that you want your main url to be the forum then you should remove the other script you installed. But if you have not installed any scripts to your main directory then sometimes the only thing you need to do it delete the index placeholder file and then it will install. If you want to keep the page you already have on your main url then take the suggestion above and add a folder called forums or something like that and install there.
  20. Did you recently install something from Fantisco? Or did you recently make some changes on some settings in your CPanel or the site? Anyone of these things could cause the error. Also if you type in your url incorrectly by adding a / at the end sometimes will do that. It could be a server error too.
  21. If it is 3pm Eastern Time then it would be 2pm Central time and 12pm Pacific I think.
  22. Yes it did. But I liked doing it. I am glad that you found it helpful.
  23. You are right of course. I am usually better about that....I guess I was just having a strange sort of day. I will probably add some other ones later.
  24. Thanks for showing us this. I think its great! The furniture is funny. I can not believe that FedEx is suing him over the name though. He is not trying to profit from it. He is just using it for furniture. He got a matress for free but that don't pay the bills. You would think that FedEx would like all the free advertising it is getting whenever the media does a story on him. For heavens sake if anyone else wants to make furniture they could profit from the purchases of their boxes and packing materials. LOLBeth
