I found the whole thread interesting but I wanted to mention that in german six is sechs which is very close to pronounced like sex. There is a slight difference in the annunciation. There is another phobia for fear of being touch. Anchraphobic or something. Not all people with phobias have them all the time either. Most of the time I am a very touchy feely type of person. But occationally I really don't like to be touched. It bothers me to the point of neurotic. It is not all the time thank goodness. Its just sometime. I have no idea why I get that way sometimes. Its just one of those crazy things that make me unique. LOL

I have to say that expanding one's horizons comes in more that one way. Expanding your vocabulary is definately a good thing. I actually amaze myself sometimes when I pop out with a word that I learned ages ago that I forgot I even knew. I also find vocabulary extremely useful in writing and when discussing interesting topics here on Xisto.I find it wonderful to learn new words. Its going to be fun to use this one on my friends and family when they are doing this. Its also great to see a fabulous discussion about it.If any of you has a chance you should take a linguistics class. Its very vacinating how words are formed and where they come from.

Mitochondria are the power houses of the cell. Basically they do the conversion of glucost to make the ATP that the cell uses to do work. Did you know also that we have bacteria that live in our intestional tract that help us digest some of the food we eat? I have always thought that was facinating too. I was not aware that there were bacteria that actually were beneficial to our bodies on the outside thuogh. I know that if you do not use deoderant then bacteria causes you to smell because of what its breaking down in the sweat. It all very interesting. You can get pimples without washing alot too. Depends on how oily your skin is. Plus women where make up and sometimes because of that the pores can not breath.

I am not sure how many people are familiar with cells and biology. I wanted to share something that I researched for a class. I am in a botany class and one of the things we had to do for our class is an evolution project. We could do it on anything at all. I have always been facinated by mitochondria. For those of you that do not know mitochondria are small organelles in our cells. They are the power house of the cell. They create and convert food particles for simplicities sake into ATP which is our main energy source for the things we do. For example I am using tons of ATP just typing this little post. :lol:Now just to give you an idea there are two types of cells. There are Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic. Prokaryotic cells do not have a nucleous. They have DNA in a circle but they do not have a nuclear envelop. These cells are mostly unicellular, but they can live in colonies and occationally they are also multicellular. This is important so please keep this in mind. It is believed that on an evolutionary scale prokaryotic cells evolved first. The second type of cell is the eukaryotic cell. It has a nucleus with a nuclear envelop. There are alot of organelles and things as well that make it way more complex than the prokaryotic cell. You can put prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell in the search engine and find some pictures if you are really interested. Well anyway the Serial Endosymbiotic Theory was postulated based on studies of both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. Two of the main organelles that have facinated biologists and bontanists is the mitochondria and chloroplasts. The reason why is they are very simular to prokaryotic cells. What is also interesting about both is they have their own DNA and they divide and reproduce without help from the cell they are living in. It is important to note they can not live on their own but its pretty clear they are like prokaryotic cells. So the theory is that Prokaryotic cells used to live in a vey harsh environment and were unable to make their own food so they had to engulf everything to get the nutrients they needed. Well when they were engulfing stuff sometimes they engulfed their fellow cells. The idea is that one or more of these fellow prokaryotic cells managed not to be digested by the cell but instead helped the cell out which cause the cell not to want to eat it. Basically a mutual symbiotic relationship was born. It is believed that the first cells that were engulfed were free-living bacterium that were evolutionarily very simular to the mitochondria we have today. The reason it is believed that mitochondria came first is all eukaryotic cells have mitochondria but not all eukaryotic cells have chloroplasts. Chloroplasts for those of you who do not know are the organelles that are unique to plants. They hold the chlorophyll which is the pigment that makes plants green. They also are inaugral to the photosynthesis process. There are other forms of chlorophyll besides the green kind. But because of the job that the chloroplasts do plants are able to make their own food and energy. Plants also have mitochondria. All complex organisims, plants and animals are a complex machine of eukaryotic cells.Its all very facinating.... I hope you think so too...

I believe the space elevator thing is going to be using nanotehnology or something like that. The cable would not be moving around. It would have to be anchored in place. You can not have a cable just willy-nilly floating around the globe. I will eventually hit something. Ideally there would be more than one space elevator. It will not be a quick jaunt up to space like the space shuttle. We are talking about something that will take days to do. Ideally as you are being transported you will be gradually being exposed to weightlessness. A space elevador is not like a normal elevator at all. Its design and implimentation will take much planning and thought. Ideally when it comes to opperating a space elevator there will have to be a mechanic on the elevator at all times to fix any problems that may come up. There will also have to be alternative ways to get into the space elevator or to get out of the space elevator if problems do arise. I think of a space elevator as kind of like a small lounge or shuttle of some sort. Its all very facinating.

Going by the definition that you presented in the way you wrote things and as well as what I personally know of artificial intelligence.... To an extent our brains are prossessing units. Everything our bodies do and things that we think about etc.... all are done with electrical impulses. A computer runs on electricity. Our bodies which are organic can make electricity. What is amazing about that is both organic and inorganic machines aka humans are organic machines and therefore have intelligence because we are organic... Because a computer is inorganic and made by man its intelligence is considered artificial. All of the impulses in our brains as well as the computer's "processes" are run with electricity which in the most basic level is all run by atoms.Atoms are made up of neutrons, protons, and electrons. The electrons are what electrical current is made of. In us humans as well as in the computer the electrical current is a path that the electrons take to create it. That is the most basic level of both artificial and normal intelligence. In that particular instance we are just like the machine. We and the machine are made up of atoms and the differance is the organization of the atoms. I believe that someday artificial intelligence will become advanced enough that we may even have robots and other AI that will beable to think for itself and have simular enough thought processes that it will become like its own being.(*personal comment to the smoking weed... be it weed, alcohol or any other substance abuse of it will eventually do damage in brain and body. Just be careful. )

I jsut wanted to say congrats and good job to Opaque. I dropped by a couple of days ago to check on my credits and was surprised and quite impressed by the new look to the forum. I really like how clean and professional it looks. I love that it is so fast too. I am also glad that we can edit our messages if we make a mistake.

Hey this sounds great. I like that you are always trying to improve the forums to make them better for us. I am glad that the editng feature is coming back. I really hope that people do not take advantage of it. There have been a few select times that even though I read my post before clicking go I mispelled things or accidentally hit go by hitting the return key. I am wondering about the hosting credits calculator. I have noticed that the calculator has been more fair than it used to be. I remember when I first started here that the first 10 credits were fast and easy to get and anything above that got harder and harder to up. Now it seems to be much more evenly distributed. Yers the first 10 seem to be fairly easy to get but it does not take nearly as long to get them higher. Either that or I have learned how to make better posts or something. LOL Anyway I look forward to seeing what the place will look like when you update us.

My advice is to tell him that you are starting to get annoyed with his behavior. You should tell him that the friendship is important to you but you are not romantically interested in him. Tell him that you will not ever be interested in him. Tell him that because the friendship is important to you you would not want to have to stop being friends because he just won't take no for an answer. If he won't stop after that.... your best bet would be to cut your losses and stop being friends.

Everyone has some valid points here. The biggest key to any relationship no matter how you feel about the person is communication. Without communication you really have no future. If you ca not talk to each other about how you feel or when somethinig is bothering you then its not going to last forever. Its really a good idea to be freinds first with someone because that will build a solid foundation to grow your relationship. If you learn how to communicate in that stage you are well on your way to a good relationship. Its also very important to know before you decide to be in a dating relationship what the other person wants in the relationship. If you don't communicate these things one or both of you may be hurt.

Well since the two of you have not talked in a long time a smile and a wave would be a good start. If she comes over to you ask her if she would like to go to coffee or for lunch or something to catch up. Its a great way to start. it would be a good idea to get to know her again. People do change in two years.

I tried to set it up in Outlook Express and Incredimail when I was using windows.Now I am trying to set it up in KMail and other mail programs that come with Debian Linux.

Okay I am at a loss on this so I am trying this way.I looked around and did several searches to find an solution. My domain is unicornrose.com so my mail server is mail.unicornrose.comSo far I have never had a problem with the getting mail part. I can not send however. I have put my smtp server as mail.unicornrose.com and that it requires server authentication. It is also set as port 25. I have tried it as no server authentication too. I keep getting an error. Something to the effect that it can not find the server. Now when I look at my file server and look in the mail folder there is nothing in there that seems to be related to smtp. What am I doing wrong? I am on a network and I share a dsl connection through a router. Would that affect how I should be sending mail? I had this problem before when I was running windows on my system well I am now running Debian Linux and still have this problem. Any suggestions would be helpful! Thanks so much.

I have been meaning to comment on this for a while now. When a user is set up in cpanel the default email address that you will always get with your domain has your cpanel user name as the user name and the password is your cpanel user name. When Cpanel makes a new email address that you request of it the format is USERNAME+DOMAIN.COM not USERNAME@DOMAIN.COM I have tried to use the @ and gotten an error. It is the default that cpanel chooses. I just wanted this clarified to the other people who are becoming newly hosted.

A smile makes the day beautiful. Yeah I know I said that earlier on another post. The sun is very shiny today in So. California. Its really windy where I am . But just looking out the window at the day as its unfolding is making me smile. Sometimes if a girl likes a guy she touches him alot. You know hitting him and grabbing his arm when she is telling him something. When you guys are going to the movies does she always sit by you? You said when you go you end up hanging out with other people. Do you have other movie theaters you can go to that those people are not hanging out at? Do you share popcorn at the movies. If you get a large popcorn and are sharing it and your hands end up in there at the same time try to accidentally on purpose hold her hand. Hold it loosly so that if she is uncomfortable with the idea then she can remove her hand. If she is interested she may keep it there. If you go to a movie that is sad and she starts crying you could put your arm around her and comfort her. If she stays comfortably against you after the asd part she might like you too. Telling her is really the best thing to do though. You could start out by saying, "I really enjoy our friendship and would never want to ruin it." Then you could say, "I think that you are a special person, I find myself thinking of you often. Would you consider deepening our friendship and possibly dating (going out)?" You can try the hypothetical approach too. You could say I have a hypothetical question for you. Then you tell her Hypothetically would you ever consider dating me? There are many ways to do it. You could also ask her what she thinks of you. You can also ask her if she likes you more than friends. You can also try kissing her good night. If you have not already try the cheek first and see how she reacts. There are some ideas. I hope you find a way to tell her soon. I know how hard it can be to care so much about someone and not know.

I love this little poem.Because of simular experiences and difficult things that have happened to me in the past I make sure that people know when they are special to me. I call it my No Regrets policy. You see I don't want to be sitting at death's door many years down the line feeling like a horrible person because I never took the time to tell someone they impacted my life or were special. I also don't want some one to die before they know they are special. There have been too many family and friends that I have lost that did not know that I loved them.
