Want Nothing? Literally NOTHING
jimmy89 replied to xboxrulz1405241485's topic in Websites and Web Designing
that is so funny! i just cant believe that someone has bid on it its only one dollar, but still thats just stupid!i would say that because both ebayers (the seller and the current bidder) both have a feedback score of 0 that they are the same person trying to scam money! maybe, thats just a crazy idea!still, thats hilarious! -
i dont know if anyone will remember, but what about FA-18 Interceptor on the Amiga Commodore? that was a great game, you even got a little wheel that you had to spin around to get the flight code. also on the amiga, the old version of sim city, it would have been version 2 maybe.

sorry for the long delay but i thought it would be good to finalize the topic. what i meant to say was that before i took it in i was having problems getting to the installer/disk utils menu! i couldn't even get to the installation screen! but that aside, problem solved! i took it to the local mac store and they fixed it no problems! had it back in a few days and it was running fine! thank you for all your help -jimmy

before we continue any further in this topic everyone needs to know that installing a copy of Mac OSX on a PC is ILLEGAL! though it can be done!personally, ive tried it with a friends copy (it was the patched copy for AMD/Intel SSE2/SSE3) and it worked fine! there was a few hardware items that didn't work (like my soundcard, ethernet card, usb ports)running on SSE2 and 1GB RAM it seemed to run rather smoothly, especially when it was installed on a 4gb hard drive (it was the only spare one i had left and i didn't want to wipe one of my main drives!)if anyone wants to try mac on a pc, try it using vmware or virtual pc. note though that it runs slower when using virtualisation!

yeah, i found the same thing also but i could get all five of the streams to go at the same time (the last four plus the main demo) The first intro loaded very quickly on my connection (512mb/s - theoretical(it never is!!)) and the four at the bottom of the page started instantly by the time i had scrolled down there! i know its probably been said before, but a good rule of thumb in web design is to never have anything go over a page long, visitors wont want to scroll for ages to get to something down the page. If you must have a longer page, use anchor links to get back to the top or to particular points (take this page as an example, it has the back to top links under every post!!) congratulations and good luck -jimmy

today the forum underwent a revamp. we now have the new version of ipb, 2.2.0! as you may have noticed lots more has changed, profiles, fast replay, add reply and even the information bar at the top!to access the shoutbox at the moment, you have to go into the community menu, and select shoutbox! hopefully when the forum upgrades are complete we should have the shoutbox back on the main page!this upgrade happened on trap a while back now and there was huge database problems, so i think they are taking their time here to make sure it all goes to plan! we don't want the forums to go down! on trap, the last topics list is still there so i think that there are still a few options and settings that need to be enabled before we are back to what we had before!hopefully everything is cleared up soon!-jimmy

i have found one thing that brings up an error! when using the skin selector (at the bottom of the screen, left hand isde) and trying to select the old skin you get a fatal error... nothing serious, but i thought maybe an admin might want to remove the old skin! -jimmy EDIT: Also, under the Credits menu at the top, you are currently able to view other members credit and post counts. Im not sure if this is what the admins want, but if not just thought you might like to know!

the new interface that you have at the moment is good! i particularly like the catergorisation that you have in the left pane! are you able to select which type of download that it is going to be and then when finished downloading it is placed into that category?the tabbed interface could be easily implemented into the bottom right pane that you have currently. (expanding on the tabs that you already have)also, if you wanted to, another idea from azureus, you could have download information bars that can be moved around the desktop that sit on top of the windows and remind you on how the download progress is going!making the download progress easily displayed so that the user doesn't have to open the main window every time they wanted to look at the progress, you could have a task bar icon that could display progresses when hovered over! (very handy for bigger downloads that are running in the background)again, i would like to offer my support if you need itgood luck-jimmy

im assuming you are talking about the quality of the videos after recording them on your phone and uploading them to your PC? well, to start with the quality of the final movie is only going to be as good as the camera on your phone! according to the nokia europe website, the phone has Source: http://www.nokia.com/en_int/about-us which isn't too bad but if you want good quality movies and pictures, isn't going to be the best! I am not sure of any programs that you can install on the phone to enhance movies but once its taken theres not much you can really do (meaning, you cant give it a better quality on the pc) So, you best chance is to set the camera on its best quality and resolution (1280 x 960) setting! good luck -jimmy

in the case of icons and graphics you are going to need ones such as start, stop, pause (if that is what you are planning to do with your program) maybe one to change the target of the download (where its being saved), one to open the options to regulate speed.my idea for the gui is that it should be more of a tabbed interface. people who have used azureus will know what im talking about! have the main screen that has a list of current and finished downloads with some basic info (say completion, speeds, ETA etc etc) and then when you select the download a new tab opens, which contains more specific info about files, speeds etc)i would be happy to help, but i have not much experience and have only coded vb and vb.net. hopefully some of this information has helped!-jimmy

How To Install Invisionfree Forums To My Site?
jimmy89 replied to Team Destiny 07's topic in Websites and Web Designing
you can run an invisionfree board but as bluefish said, it must be hosted somewhere else. a good host is IPBFREE.COM http://ww38.ipbfree.com/home/ i have not personally used them, but friends who have could not have more highly recommended them! they are also now using IPBFree version 2 now! good luck -jimmy -
downloading copyrighted materials via bit torrent IS illegal and IS against the rules here at Xisto. if you want to download Visual Studio, you can try their express versions for free. these express versions are free forever and include most of the features of the professional version. still, heaps of tools for the novice programmer! you can have a look at another topic here on Xisto about this same topic http://forums.xisto.com/topic/88345-topic/?findpost=1064335595= and http://forums.xisto.com/topic/91933-topic/?findpost=1064361061= if you want to go ahead and download them, you can by going to https://www.visualstudio.com/vs/visual-studio-express/ if you ever need any help with programming, feel free to ask questions in the programming forum good luck -jimmy

this is the link to the single player demo http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ though a simple google search would have given you the same results! happy gaming -jimmy -
when making your frameset page (the index page that people goto to see all the frames on one page) you need to add ID's so that you can ID each frame <frameset rows="*,80" frameborder="no" border="0" framespacing="0"> <frame src="file:///C|/Program Files/Macromedia/Dreamweaver 8/Untitled-1" name="mainFrame" id="mainFrame" title="mainFrame" /> <frame src="file:///C|/Program Files/Macromedia/Dreamweaver 8/UntitledFrame-2" name="bottomFrame" scrolling="No" noresize="noresize" id="bottomFrame" title="bottomFrame" />i have named the mainFrame and bottomFrame in this example so the too snippets of code you are adding are id="mainFrame"and id="bottomFrame" then when you go to make your hyperlinks, make sure you add a target (the same as your ID before) <a href="http://google.com; target="bottomFrame">Link to Frame </a> good luck -jimmy

Shared Network Printer Permissions In Vista
jimmy89 replied to nightfox1405241487's topic in Websites and Web Designing
i have been successfully able to connect my vista pc to a shared printer on XP. thats was connected straight up, no changed settings at all! as xboxrulz said you have to be an administrator, i was an admin when i successfully connected to the printer so that is most probably true!good lukc-jimmy -
glad to hear that you like the service! hopefully we will see you posting around the board in no time!!welcome-jimmy

its an amazing service that they have there! heaps of space, plenty bandwidth but i did find this in their TOS this means that on their 5gb plan, you can only have a 1gb database! huge space, but i suppose that you could use that quickly if you are using databases frequently! Does this mean that you aren't allowed to run Cron Jobs on their servers? that would be a shame as they can be so useful for backups! i also find it strange for them to say still, its very good for what you get, but i have to agree with m^e, if your new you cant host there, and if your experienced why would you move? -jimmy

thats one of the best movies ever! sad thing is that much of that is true and there are actually people that live like that!

the P2P technology is not actually illegal. the downloading of files onto your computer via a P2Pis legal as long as the material is not copyright! if the material is copyright (say an artists music) then you are breeching copyright and that is illegal!in this case of music, downloading from P2P networks is illegal and you can get in big trouble for it!-jimmy

Poseidon Adventure more of a technical question...
jimmy89 replied to Grafitti's topic in General Discussion
common sense says that something that is full of air (say a hull of a ship) should float on the surface of the water for as long as it is full of air. now the Poseidon was airtight to a certain respect but in the movie the glass in the main hall burst and water filled the ship, meaning that the ship would start to loose buoyancy.also in the movie, as the people try to get to the engine room they fill the hull of the ship with water. This would also make the ship sink faster! but as to your question of would it sink within an hour of capsizing, i would have to say not. that seems to fast for a ship of that size to go under. how long did it take the titanic to sink?-jimmy -
Personally i don't like IE7. but thats just what i think! i don't use it normally (i use Firefox) except for when I'm making web pages, then i use it to test out my sites!the new interface is good, but terribly hard to get used to! as Quatrux said wheres the refresh button?!? the new features are handy but can also be a pain at the same time! it might take a while to get used to, but everything does!-jimmy
