  1. it is possible to run firefox without using tabs - you don't have to ever see them.By changing a few options you can hide the tab bar and make sure that all new windows are opened in new windows then you wont have to worry about the tabs, and you will have less memory usage.still, i love the tabs, they are so useful, and now that firefox saves your tabs for you when you close the program and they are there when you start it again, its even better!-jimmy
  2. its not that insane! there are programs that can match two images together depending on similar characteristics! that would be great if they could find a way to implement it! i though of that idea ages ago but at that time thought it to be a little far fetched! the computer power and time would be huge though, having to find characteristics of one image in another, and going through say googles index - could take ages! still i like the idea! -jimmy
  3. from your two choices sparkx, i would have to go with the 6gb zen micro. its smaller then the other one, but then again, you said 2gb so thats heaps. the zen is a good sturdy player and has great menu structure and is easy to navigate. I have owned one of these for the last year and its seems to be still going every day! this is my suggestion.happy hunting-jimmy
  4. i think this is a good move, i makes sure that everyone knows what RSS stands for and it can be recognized by anyone!most websites use it already so it would be rather stupid by Microsoft to not use it!-jimmy
  5. A very good comparison of both the browsers! it is very hard to decide what you can crown as 'the better browser', Firefox or IE. They are both good browsers and both have their advantages, as well as disadvantages! The Firefox revolution has come a long way since its beginnings in 2004 and now has millions of downloads. it is a good stable and safe browser that many people are now using! personally, i like it because of the add-ons and extensions that you can use to make browsing easier.I think that Microsoft presume that they are loosing the 'browser war' and use their OS market share unfairly. they make products that must have IE installed to function. Take MSN Messenger for example, to view your emails, you must have Internet Explorer and you even have to have IE installed to install MSN. They are now even putting up IE7 as a update on Windows Update, they are trying to force it on Windows XP Users. The New Version of the Windows OS, Vista comes with it pre-installed!It is very hard to pick a Internet Browser because of all the options, it all depends on your requirements and what you want to be able to do!your comments and thoughts...-jimmy
  6. thats some really nice work you've got there!keep up the good work-jimmy
  7. im not sure what could be going on there but it might be that your 192mb chip has died! you can try taking out the new chip and seeing what happens, see if the computer boots at all. try changing the DIMM slots they are in, swap them around. good luck-jimmy

  10. great tutorial! you explained everything well and showed all of the steps of the XAMPP setup! the steps that you described are exactly as i remember it from installing XAMPP!you could also go into some detail about the options of each of the components and how to setup your server once its installed and running! but that could be a different tutorial.well done-jimmy

  12. i have found that the live search is very easy to use and makes searching much easier!it looks like google is also trying to create the same effect, but hasn't implemented the ajax technology to dynamically load pictures and the 'hover' feature.still, i like what i see!-jimmy

  15. I have been running vista since it came out as beta2. and it has changed since then! still its not a bad operating system and has some pretty good features! they also included the media center in the ultimate version. but it has been said before, and will be continually said that you are going to need a good computer. one of my development machines that can run xp perfectly had some trouble running vista without 'aero', i couldn't even force aero to run because my graphics card was not up to it! but i think vista is still a good operating system without the fancy eye candy!
  16. very nice! thats an amazing amount of posts!

  18. i have just installed XAMMP (win32 version) onto a spare computer just to see if i could get my own home web server going. the install went fine and i managed to get all the of components installed. but, when i go to LOCALHOST/ it directs me to the administrator page (LOCALHOST/xampp/) and not to my htdocs folder where all my files are stored. when i type in LOCALHOST/index.html this will take me to the page i want, but i want to be able to just type in localhost or the IP address of the computer to access the page! how is there a way of doing this, or am I just have to keep entering the page name after localhost each time thanks for your help -jimmy
  19. I think along the same lines! I don't mind using iTunes but have to to use my iPod. I know there are some other software out there that can do the same thing for me, but if it ain't broken, don't fix it! I have been using this version of iTunes for a while now and it was only after i install last fm that the problems starting occurring. But I have reinstalled my programs (thats always lots of fun!!) and the newest version of iTunes and last fm and everything seems to be running fine! Thanks for all your help -jimmy
  20. the new format is good because as Grafitti said it takes up much less space. But these new versions are not going to be compatible with the older version of office (2003 etc) unless they download the compatibility patch.i would much rather stick with the old .doc, .xls, .ppt, formats until everyone (or a vast majority) has switched over to the new xml format.if you were just working on your own computer, or knew that your documents were going to be read on a office 2007 system then you can save the files as the new format.
  21. That is worth the download if you want to start or continue java programming. I have tried java programming, i didn't like it, but while i was having a try it was some fun! this program looks much easier then what i was using back in the day.if i was still into java programing i think i would download it, but i think im going to download it anyway just to see how it works, and make a few apps.thanks for the heads up-jimmy
  22. these set of programs are great. as written in many other topics around the board i think everyone else agrees with me!they provide most of the features of the professional version and what isn't included is really only for the most advanced users!if your into programming and want to make some great programs, i defiantly suggest these programs. they are a large download but are worth it at the end! and when you download them you also get some free resources (loyalty free images, icons and a guide manual to making your first programs)good luck and happy programming-jimmy
