  1. i am hoping that it is not a problem with the motherboard as i only just recently had the unit repair (but maybe they could have damaged something when they were working on it). I will go and order a new battery and see what happens! i've been looking for an excuse to purchase a new battery - they are so expensive!thanks-jimmy
  2. If i try and boot the laptop without the battery nothing happens! the adapter is getting power (its green light is on) but the laptop shows no sign of powering up at all!thanks for your help,-jimmy
  3. Hi All,I have a Acer Aspire 3003WLC for about a year now. Not a bad, simple laptop, but i have been having power problems recently. I have had to have the laptop repaired once already because the sound had stopped working and since I have got it back there has been problems with the power. When i attempt to turn the laptop on, with just the battery, nothing happens! when i plug in the ac adapter (with green light on it) the charging light comes on, but i cannot still turn the system on. after a while (30min -> 1 hr) the system will turn on when i press the power button. When windows loads it reports that the battery is almost full, if not at 100%. I am able to turn the power on and off and everything seems ok. then if i leave the laptop unplugged overnight and come back to it the next day, i cannot turn it on at all. same problem again!Thanks,-jimmy
  4. thanks for your reply's! I have downloaded both the games and they are great! Lost Coast works surprisingly well and you are so right about the water! its amazing!!Deathmatch is a little different to CS:S but its still pretty fun! I prefer the team deathmatch servers - much more fun!-jimmy
  5. According to the Ragnarok website, it is an imediate account deletion if you are found to be the owner/operator of a private server. See http://iro.ragnarokonline.com/support/operationrule.asp for more information on bans. -jimmy
  6. hey! the version i have is 4.91 sp3. Its from a school so when its installed some of the trees are already filled out, but you can just change them! otherwise its the exact same install as the one downloadable from the novell website (well when it used to be there!). The old installer that I got from novel (4.91 sp2) is corrupted somehow and I cannot use it to install. This one is just as good! only problem is that i cannot connect to this server you gave! In firefox, i get a timeout error!EDIT: I have just found out that the copy of Novell Client I have is not corrupted its version 4.91 SP2. Im still having problems connecting to your upload site though!
  7. Amazing that it worked! Spose thats a good thing! I have a copy of the 2000/XP installer if you would like it! I always knew there was a reason I keep old downloads! you never know when something like this is going to happen!-jimmy
  8. Yeah, I just use the one I got from Telstra. It works well (except for the slow connection at startup) otherwise its pretty good! I like the Telnet access which means that I can do anything to it remotely at my computer!
  9. Hi all, I have recently just got a copy of Counter Strike Source from a friend to play and i also got steam to play with. When looking around their site I found a special promotion that they have going at the moment. If you have an ATI graphics card installed on your computer, it looks like you are able to get two free games from valve! If you want to have a look and see if you can get the free games also, go to http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I downloaded steam and went to the website where it said I was able to get the games - followed the links and in a few seconds, steam was downloading the games. They only offer two games, Half Life 2: Deathmatch and Half Life 2: Lost Coast! So my question to everyone is, have you ever played HL2:Deathmatch and what do you think of it! Good game, could be better ... etc! Thanks for your comments -jimmy
  10. yeah! you probably have the same on i do (SpeedTouch 530 or something like that), but I also have a Wireless Router (D-Link) for connecting my other computers and printer to the network! And theres another reason I keep my router on - it acts as the gateway for the printer, so if I want to print something, I need the router on!-jimmy
  11. that is some very nice work Niru! Well Done! its a real shame that I have a Sony, Otherwise I would download them for my phone!keep up the good work-jimmy
  12. there are many good reasons for keeping it on! But i would also think that turning it on and off over and over again may not be that good for it! If it is heating up and cooling down, there are solder joints inside the device that may just give up and your router/modem will stop working! (thus the dry joint idea, explained earlier!)For some, turning the modem/router on and off again is a real pain. Someone (cant remember now) said earlier in this post that their modem doesn't have an on/off switch, which is a pain if you are just turning the modem off! Also, my modem likes to take its sweet time connecting (sometimes up to a few minutes), which isn't fun when i just need to be on there for a few seconds. So really, I prefer to keep mine on, but its really up to personal preference!-jimmy
  13. that seems to have put an end to the myth once and for all!p.s picture was a nice touch!-jimmy
  14. my password is my key to everything, why would i give it out? just plain stupid!as for chat histories - i keep them safe and password protected! Its amazing how many times I have gone back to them just to find websites, names, numbers etc that I have forgotten!-jimmy
  15. The AMD Athlon 64 X2 is a great processor! I have one myself and have had no problems with it - it is very fast and deals with what I do like nothing! Your choice of 2x 1GB memory is good also and corsair is a great brand! One question though, when you say does this mean that the ATI Radeon is built into the m/b and it is using 256 of the system memory? Good Luck with the computer -jimmy P.S What are you doing with the two old Hard Disks?
  16. Totally agreed! Every piece of software that I have installed on my computer I have purchased myself! -jimmy
  17. Another idea yes, but personally I don't like using peer-to-peer networks because of the fact that they can be littered with virus's! I would prefer to download it from a reputable source (like adobe's website) and not from some person who could have tampered with the software ( god only knows what they could try and steal from my computer!)Thanks for the suggestion though!-jimmy
  18. Yeah very true! Ive downloaded it, it didn't actually take that long! The New version is great! so much more things to do! Thanks for all your help everyone-jimmy
  19. For your first question, a single point is deducted each day that you are hosted. Th point isn't taken in one go, over the space of a day, the system slowly takes 0.01 of a point away. Also, if you are signing up, when your sign up is approved, your hosting credits will drp to 3.So don't go getting a heap of points thinking you can keep them! For more info on the credits system see - http://forums.xisto.com/topic/86545-topic/?findpost=1064322153 There are two plans available: Package One: 20MB Space 500MB BW Package Two: 500 MB Space 10000 MB BW Hopefully this is helpful -jimmy
  20. yeah, I think I might do that as well! It's only a few hundred MB, not a huge download! But I am still going to send the CD back to adobe and get a replacement, at least I then have a hard copy of it if I ever need one!Thanks-jimmy
  21. Thats a great idea! Why didn't I think of that! Is it possible to download the Photoshop Extended version?Thanks-jimmy
  22. Thanks Grafitti, I have tried making images of the cd. There seemed to be no problem with Nero copying the disk, do it must be the files on the disk that can't be read by the computer!
  23. yeah, i have tried it on other computers and still have the same problem. I have decided to contact adobe and see if I can get a new CD off them! Thanks for your help!-jimmy
  24. I have checked the event viewer for errors and i found a few that say Does this mean that my cd that I have is scratched and its not reading properly? Or is it something else like my computer? I have tried to install it on two computers now and both times it has come up with the same errors! Thanks -jimmy
  25. The size of memory card that you use in your phone depends on what your doing. If you have a phone that takes great pictures, you can take heaps of pictures. Also, if you like to listen to music - store some music on there also (with your pictures too!)Personally, I think this is good! i use a SD card fro my PDA (Palm Tungsten E2) and i run lots from there! I have pictures, some music, files, documents, programs - the list goes on. But what im saying is that I need a fair bit of space on the memory card to save everything that I need. Though i cant say i have used more then 2GB of space (thats the size of my card). An 8GB card would be good for professional photographers that use digital cameras! If they are shooting large amounts of pictures, with high resolution - they are going to want the space.Still, for the home user - I think the 8gb is just too much-jimmy
