  1. I use Mozilla Firefox 3 as the primary web browser and to read my subscribed RSS Feeds. I also have Google Chrome, Internet Explorer and Apple Safari installed on my computer, mainly to have a 'complete' set to test the results of my web design and development. Google Chrome is sort of my secondary browser when I don't want to have to load Firefox browser crowded with an assortment of extensions, and Internet Explorer when Windows Live Messenger opens my inbox for me.@rockershive,I also find Safari a bit laggy, especially when running it on Windows. I suppose it isn't perfected yet for running on Windows, since I found it is not as responsive as the other browsers.
  2. The rules indicate that advertising is prohibited and not allowed in most of the forum, except for the Website Review section. Linking to your own site in your signature is also fine.
  3. You can now download the beta version of Windows 7 at the following link: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ If your test it out, you will find in function better and faster when compared to Windows Vista. It also requires a lower system requirement, so if you computer was not compatible with Windows Vista, it might make the cut with Windows 7.
  4. @khalilov,Some legitimate surveys do actually work. You should be careful not to sign up to sites that try to 'sell' you link to other survey sites. If you want to try out some legitimate survey sites, you should be looking for Ciao-Surveys, Greenfield-Online and Lightspeed, which people have confirmed do pay out for surveys completed through their site (I have personally used and have been payed by Ciao-Surveys).From what I have seen in a quick Google search on 'Paypal Lebanon', it does not seem Paypal does business in Lebanon, so you will be unable to sign up for a Paypal account. Also, I don't think they will be allowing access from Lebanon in any time soon since they have not done anything in the last few years even though requests have been made concerning this.
  5. I have in the past signed up to Lightspeed, although I am not an active member (maybe even a deleted member). Anyway, for me, Ciao Surveys has been good for me generally, although acceptance rate for surveys is around 10% for me and the pay is not so great. I have had only a few minor problems with survey payment in the past, where on completion of the survey, I am told I don't qualify (this was fixed, although the support email came after 1 month to say I would be credited). I suppose doing surveys is just really to get some extra cash on hand if required, not really a sizeable income to live on.@Amber,You should try emailing Lightspeed support to get this fixed ASAP. They should be able to check that you had completed most if not all of the survey and credit you with the points associated with the survey. If they don't reply and refuse to do anyway, you are better off cashing out and closing your account with them.
  6. I suppose it is sort of in the right section, since he asking your opinion in a way. There aren't a lot of websites on the Internet concerning table tennis, except websites hosted by specific table tennis associations in different countries. If you are interested in joining tournaments or competitions, you may want to check out the websites of those table tennis associations and sporting clubs, or do a quick Google search of 'table tennis tournaments' to see what pops up for you to have a look.Generally, there aren't a lot of national tournaments for table tennis around, maybe just a few run by local sporting clubs.Good luck with your table tennis pursuits!
  7. I think OpaQue's last post actually explains the issue. Basically, in the past, a bonus was given depending on the topic's popularity in terms of search engine rankings etc. However, since the script was scrapped due to those bonus deciding factor being unavailablem, the forum displayed a negative myCENT's balance on the front. However, if you earn at least 100 myCENTs and are credited with a balance in the Xisto - Web Hosting (Xisto) client area, your myCENTs on the forum display will jump back to negative, like nothing happened before.@Quatrux,Simply earn at least 100myCENTs. Then, your account at Xisto - Web Hosting (Xisto) will be credited with 1USD (or more depending on your level of posting before the conversion), and your myCENTs balance will return to the positive range.
  8. I think he means that using faster RAM like DDR2-800 rather than the more basic DDR2-667 would make running Windows 7 smoother and better. If your a technology enthusiast and want the fastest speeds, you may also want to try DDR3 memory RAM sticks, with speeds ranging from 800MHz to 1600MHz.
  9. OpaQue seems to be quite busy and not very active at the moment, since he last visited the forum on the 26th January 2009 and last posted on 14th January 2009.I have managed to earn the myCENTs needed for a new domain I had been after before problems with the system started to appear. On the topic, I am not sure what is happening behind the scenes with the script, but generally, posting has increased my myCENTs balance. It seems like you are one of a group of people including moderator xboxrulz that have negative myCENT balances. You may try and see if you can post your way out of the negative balance.
  10. I have a mid-range PC with the following specifications:Motherboard: Giga-byte EP45-DS4PCPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 (3.16GHz)Memory: 4GB of Kingston DDR2 800MHz RAMGraphics: Nvidia 9600GT 1GB (Gigabyte)HDD: 2 x Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200RPMCase: Asus Vento TA-D2DVD: Unknown LG Dual-Layer DVD BurnerDisplay: Samsung 2493HM 24" MonitorInput Device: Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000The computer runs quite run, except for some sleeping problems with Windows Vista.
  11. My PC is noisier than standard computers since I use a rack system to hold the hard disk in the computer (i.e. the rack system allows me to change hard disks easily so I can use multiple sets of hard disks on the same computer). The rack system annoyingly includes integrated fans which makes very loud noise even though there isn't much dust in the fan.@HellFire121,Have you checked out the power supply fan? On my old computer, there was a small design fault in the power supply that caused it to produce strange grinding noises from within the computer. It would usually get worse in cold weather and make much louder grinding noises. You should try opening up your computer case while it is running and try to identify the source of the noise, although you will need to be careful not to touch any moving parts e.g. fans.
  12. It is unlikely you will be able to emulate Shader Model 3.0 on a graphics card that supports only Shader Model 2.1 .Unfortunately once, I was in the same situation as you, when I had bought the game Rainbow Six Vegas to play on my computer, only to find out after installation that the game required Shader Model 3.0 to run. At the time, I had a Nvidia GeForce FX5600 which only supported Shader Model 2.x, so the game was incompatible with the hardware and resulted in a blank screen when the game was started. Fortunately, for me, I got a new computer in the last 6 months with a graphics card that supported Shader Model 4.0, which should allow the card to be used for future games. In your situation, I suggest you may want to purchase a new low to mid-end graphics card that does support Shader Model 3.0 . But if most the system components in your computer are years old, you are better off upgrading and buying a new computer, rather than upgrading the graphics card.
  13. I prefer the x86 architecture since all the CPUs I have bought have run on the x86 architecture. However, there isn't really a 'best' processor architecture as different processor architecture are used on different platforms that have different overall uses (e.g. specialised server CPUs on blade servers, supercomputer processing).I am currently using a computer fitted with an Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 CPU. There wasn't really a choice for processor architecture, since most desktop motherboards are only designed for x86 processors, though I did prefer an Intel CPU over an AMD CPU. I generally tended to avoid buying an AMD processor or an ATI graphics card, since I preferred a mainstream and better supported brands of Intel and Nvidia.I suppose PowerPC processor were quite popular because Apple notebooks and desktops were using processors that ran on the PowerPC architecture. However, since Apple switched to the x86 processor architecture with Intel CPUs as the only option, there has been a large decline in the proportion of PowerPC users.
  14. Did you sign up to Live Hotmail originally through the Chinese version of the site, or login using the Chinese portal? If not, you should try and change the country setting in the Options or Account Information settings of Live Hotmail at: account.live.com . The reason why deleting the cookies did not work is because the settings are stored on the Microsoft servers hosting Live Hotmail, with cookies being created everytime you log back into Live Hotmail.
  15. PHP is a hypertext preprocessor. Basically, when you visit a URL (e.g. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/) that refers to a PHP script, the server uses the PHP code to generate a HTML page that is seen by the end user. It works on the same principles as other server-side processing code like ASP, CGI, Perl and ColdFusion, although PHP is more widely-used and popular as it is freely available for use and on a variety of platforms including Windows, Linux and Unix systems (ASP at the moment is limited to Windows platforms). MySQL, on the other hand. is a database server software, and is similar to MSSQL and PostgreSQL. Generally, MySQL databases are used to store information like site content and user authentication data. With most web servers out there, PHP and MySQL are often used together, with MySQL as a means of storing data, and PHP as a means of retrieving that data from the database and displaying it in a way that the end-user can read by generating a HTML output. If you wish to learn how to use PHP and also MySQL, there are numerous sites out there with introductions and tutorials on how to use PHP. You part want to start with the following tutorials designed for people beginning with PHP development: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. There are also other tutorial sites that can be found easily with a Google search of 'php tutorials'. For your information, I started learning PHP with the book 'How to Do Everything with PHP and MySQL', which taught the syntax of the PHP language while using it in examples throughout the book.
  16. The Logic Plan at $1.95 per month is now the most basic plan available at Xisto - Web Hosting (Xisto). I myself will probably cancel the service soon since I will be getting the same package again but with a new domain name.Databases can be exported using phpMyAdmin (accessable through the cPanel web interface), while files and scripts can be downloaded using FTP.
  17. Google Sites is useful for users who want to create a site to share information and maybe photos / videos, but do not have the web development skills to design and code a website themselves. Although Google Sites does not offer that wide range of customisation option, it still makes it easy for beginners to start their own website off.@Sellaman,Google Site was never designed as a a free hosting site, rather it "makes creating and sharing a group website easy".
  18. I think you can also create ISOs in WinRAR, although it lacks some features included in dedicated ISO producing and editing software. I use UltraISO (not freeware) which provides all the functions I need when creating and editing ISOs, although it is commercialware and costs US$30. The following site lists some of the more popular ISO editors out there: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  19. Playing Call of Duty 5 World at War Zombie mode was enough for me to stop playing any zombie games at all! Anyway, I was talking with a friend who played Left 4 Dead, and he was saying how, after you finish the game once i.e. campaign mode, there isn't anything compelling to play the campaign mode again. Left 4 Dead sort of lacks the replay quality like games like Team Fortress 2 has, where although I have played for over 200 hours total, I still very much enjoy playing it since every game is something different. What do you think?
  20. I played Halo 2 on the PC for 10 minutes and stopped playing after since it wasn't the type of game for me. The graphics weren't very good compared to other First Person Shooter games and the gameplay wasn't that good. One of the negatives was the game was relatively slow paced, and with a lack of a proper map indicating the direction of the objective, it was difficult to make any headway into the game. Eventually, I just gave up on playing and went back to playing Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and Team Fortress 2.
  21. Gaming can be harmful in some situations, but in others, it can help you gain new skills in your life. Most of the time, gaming is only harmful is you become too obsessed, addicted and absorbed into the game so much that you neglect your own health and ignore the realities of the damage you are causing to yourself. Or when you get involved in a virtual argument in-game which soon spreads into a real life situation (I have seen many newspaper articles of people getting killed over a online dispute that occurs in-game over the Internet). However, games can be useful in that you may gain new skills of teamwork and leadership when you play multiplayer or co-operative games, where you interact which others and work together to complete a common objective in the game.It is just which perspective you take when you decide for yourself whether games are harmful or not.
  22. If I were to buy a iPod, it would probably want to go for the iPod Touch, or the iPhone if I also needed the phone functionality. The reason is because both the iPod Touch and iPhone have a large touchscreen that is better for watching videos than on the iPod nano, which has in effect a 'nano' or small screen. Also, I feel that the iPod Touch and iPhone have better functionality, as applications can be purchased off the App Store and installed, providing a dynamic set of applications and games on offer.
  23. Also, to avoid phishing, you should ensure the site you are logging into uses a SSL encrypted connection with a valid SSL certificate. Unfortunately it doesn't seem that Myspace has such a option, so you will have to be vigilant and use an anti-phishing software if possible e.g. Firefox's inbuilt anti-phishing measures.
  24. Just like every other programs that contain code, they all are subject to vulnerabilities that expose the victim to hackers over the Internet. I tend to use Internet Explorer anymore, after it bugged out on me too many times. I have since moved to Firefox which, although has various vulnerabilities in the past, is more stable and secure for me to use. Security vulnerabilities don't surprise me either because they are found all of the time in different applications. If you interested in learning of the security vulnerabilities that exist, you may want to take a look at Secunia.com Link: http://secunia.com/
  25. From what I have seen, there probably is nothing wrong with the above code. It is basically a form that posts the URL of your website to the site http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/, at which the page ranks are looked up from the various Page rank providers. It should be safe to use the above code if you like.
