  2. Hi all,I'm hoping someone in here has got an ASUS G70 17" Extreme Gaming Laptop (the one with the SLI GeForce graphics chipsets which ships with Vista Ultimate as standard).I am looking for a bipartisan opinion on it.... because I'm fed up with trying to gauge its worth based on the "opinions" of groups that are either paid to say its great, or trying to suck up to ASUS to keep the unit they were loaned to review.Anyone with a G70, I value your opinion smile.gif--------------------System Spec:Mobo: Gigabyte GA-MA690FX-DQ6 (AM2+ DDR2 1066)CPU: AMD Phenom 9850 Quad Core (10GHz total)RAM: 16GB DDR2 1066 Corsair DominatorHDD: 6x 150GB Western Digital RAPTOR drives RAID0Optical: 1x BlueRay, 1x SATA DVD-RWGFX: 4x ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 cards on Crossfirethanks
  3. Hi guys,I run a small 3D visualisation business and need some more rendering power. I am going to upgrade my dell precision 670 from a 3.2 dual xeon to a a 2.8 dual quad core. I need to get a new motherboard aswell as the existing one will not take quads. Through this process i will also be going from 32bit XP, to 64bit vista but am worried about the functionality of some of my programs. As a backup i would like to have XP and Vista on the PC so that i can still work on XP if i need some time to sort out any new software updates for 64 or something more major. So my questions are:-1. is it possible to have both XP 32bit and Vista 64bit installed on the same PC?2. If so how would I do this?3. How do i switch between XP and vista when using my PC4. Anything i should be aware of when using the same software on 32 bit and 64bitmy dad thinks thatTo switch from Vista to XP and vice versa, you will have to reboot. (Or you can use a virtual PC and not have to worry about rebooting. any opinion?
  4. Having exhausted the many possible workarounds to get a Vista Business Edition Dell computer to recognise my network hosted by an XP computer (when it did originally, until I relocated the broadband router), I took Mr. Microsoft's advice and installed SP3 on the XP machine. According to him the Vista machine needed to find Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) on the host, and if it couldn't find it then "Unidentified network, local only". So, being a believing soul, I downloaded and installed SP3 on the XP machine. Result? Now not only can I still not get rid of the unidentified network problem, I now find that the "search" and the "help and support" services in the start menu don't work any longer, and I can't print emails from Outlook Express. According to Mr. MS I have to enable LLTD first, but it doesn't appear anywhere in the network connection panel. I have sidestepped the email problems by installing Mozilla, but I am seriously beginning to wonder if I've done something to irritate Mr. Microsoft. I used to think I was fairly computer literate, but he has me beaten on this one. Anyone out there any good ideas?i think thatEven though SP3 claims to have LLTD, it doesn't. Use this article to get LLTD on your computer. Is the network in Vista set to Private or Public? Right-click Network on the Start menu and select Properties.

  8. I have a video demonstrating it here: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ The only problem is, that the method I used to get it to work only seems to work on Ubuntu Mobile (method can be found here http://diyhometech.blogspot.de/) It does not seem to work on Ubuntu Desktop 8.04 I am suspecting that Ubuntu Mobile Edition has some preliminary support for touch screens built in to it. Anyone know what I might do to get it working in the Desktop version on the same Fujitsu U810? help needed...
