  1. This is scary, lesson learnt always check the compatibility of your RAM, when purchasing new memory modules, I always call my vendor; Sony and checked my specifications paper to make sure everything is right.
  2. For me, it would be nice to take a look but I won't go to this site when I want to look for softwares which need upgrading. FileHippo is basically unheard of and I would much rather go to a more popular site like download.com, they have been running for so long and gain so much popularity. I don't even know FileHippo will update as often as download.com, so there is no reason for me to use FileHippo
  3. In other words, judging by the mathematical formula you presented, a resistor will reduce the voltage by several folds depending on the type of resistor being used? However judging by Math alone, any number which is divided by 0 will be a mathematical error because no number can be divided by 0. So how does infinite come about?
  4. I don't understand what you are saying. So a couple filmed a personal clip with their cell phone and they sell it over the internet? You have already said it is personal so I find no reason why they would want to sell the clip over the internet. However in Singapore, there is a case whereby a 18 year old girl filmed a sex session with her boyfriend using her mobile, but it was stolen and ever since then, the video has been circulated over the internet and sold even in places like Malaysia as porn VCDs. The secrets within your mobile is very dangerous, they may even lead to you living a life of misery should you not be careful
  5. A nice article adding somethings new like the non-breaking space, I never knew there was such a thing like it. I am not really into such a tight security whereby I change my password every 14 days, for me I am into forums so I always leave my password at that. And for my wireless password, this is where I put a little more detail, 26 characters. It is really frightening to see hackers hack into your system but of course unless they have an everlasting hatred for you, I am sure they have no reasons to hack into your system unless they are complete idiots who wants to spoil another person's life. However hacking may actually be a good thing. I have seen so many cases of hackers being employed from prison and brought out to the society. They hack big companies in a bid to find any vulnerabilities within the system so that they can fix it and make it even more secure. This is something which I appreciate about hackers, they find the security vulnerability so that you know it and you will have another layer of protection. A pity that till today, there are so many hackers who are making other life's miserable.
  6. I think an email would not be the best solution. Because for me, when a certain websites email me, I would simply dump them off as a junk mail. I am not sure whether many people would bother about reading such mail sent by Xisto. Though a pop up might be a little irritating, I am sure this is the way to go as it notifies the person no matter what. The users may not read their email very often and it is through this CPanel control where they are spending the most time in because of the sites they are running on it especially if it is a forum of some sort whereby daily supervision is needed.
  7. Scrap the windows utility and use the manufacturer's software. For e.g. if you are using intel wireless adapter, use their software. You mean in windows 2000, you are just able to connect any network without a passkey?
  8. I am using the default windows firewall, so what you are saying is that besides 20 and 21, I should open other ports too?
  9. Has anyone of you used your a computer as a FTP server, I am trying to do it but for some reason or another, if I do not disable my firewall, this FTP server will not work. Do you know what must be done besides getting the router to point to the desktop? What port must I open so that I would be able to access my FTP Server. I will appreciate it if there is any help
  10. Do you know of any software which does this?It would be better if it is free or open source
  11. For me, I use ITunes, it has a very nice interface and I like it when a particular MP3 is ending, it fades and allows the next song to come into it just as it is fading. I also play videos on it, love the way the video is playing on the side.
  12. What do you think of the widescreen display laptops are beginning to adopt nowadays? Is that the right way to go? Or should we stick to our original display (800 * 600, 1024 * 768 ... etc) instead of (1280 * 800).For me I think these widescreen display should be the way to go, it allows you more space to do your stuff especially if you are doing some image editing, and that requires a huge amount of resolution size. There is an argument whereby you can increase your resolution to make it tinier so that you can have more space but then again, the problem with making the resolution tinier is that it might make it not visible to the human eye. I am fine with it, but what about people who are short sighted and have problems looking at such tiny objects on the screen? Widescreen display is the way for me to go, because there is so much flexibility in which I can use my programs, especially in programming, things are not so 'cramped' like in the 1024 * 768 resolution. The problems with this widescreen display is that there are not many wallpapers which are available for this kind of widescreen resolution. And on top of that, when you play a PC game which does not support this kind of resolution, there would be 2 black rectangulars indicating the extra space it has. But that is gradually solving, all of the new games on the market is starting to put widescreen resolutions as one of their available resolutions during game play. What do you think?
  13. I am split on this issue. It is these religions that have taught us what is right or wrong, maybe not directly as we are free to choose for ourselves but then again they are the ones which teach us what is the right things to do. For me, they are the building blocks in building one's character and ethics, and it also plays a part in their morals. For example, to some religions, we are not allowed to do certain things but in the other religions these are condone. That brings out the different kind of people we see today. But then again, without religions in this world, there would probably be no fightings between religions, and we can see the world become a much more peaceful loving place to be in. Everybody would be on the equal stand, there is nothing to disagree on since there is no religion to affect how one thinks. And it is the actions of people who wants to bring down the religion you are having so that you will have a reason to join them, I believe this is the lowest a human can get to with regards to getting more followers for their religion.

    Gmail Drive

I tried it a while back but for some reason or another, I had an error in copying some files over to this GMail drive, as a result I did not try it thus since.
  15. I am in a relationship with my gf for about 3 years + now and I do not deny at times I am feeling like what you are feeling at the moment - losing interest. I guess when you spent too much time with one another, you are going to get bored, no offence but this is the way humans are. For example, we are not going to stick to 1 gadget all the time, there is always time for another one. Alright back to the topic, if you are losing interest, talk to her about it, the most important thing is honesty, you have to treat her as though she was your soul mate, there should be no transparency between the both of you. I am sure she would understand and of course together help you in overcoming this obstacle. There are many problems you are going to face in a relationship, and believe me I have gone through a lot of hardship with my current gf to be at the stable position I am now (Family, friends, personal differences, jealousy ... etc) basically every problem a couple faces but slightly more. Try doing activities which brings back memories you cherish so much, for e.g. cycling together, taking her out on an unforgetable trip ... etc things like that, this will really bring you back into the mood. Have you heard of this famous quote "Absence makes the heart grow fonder"? You may not see her as much but I am sure the both of you will miss each other a lot. It would help to start everyday with a morning and night SMS, I do that everyday with my gf and personally it makes me happy if I received a SMS from my gf saying how much she loves me and things like that.
  16. I have always seen his shows on televsion and it really takes a lot of courage for one to always be at risk in his working life, this was something he loved to do and I am sure he was happy doing it knowing the risks that came with it. This was an unfortunate incident and I hope the family will stay strong and remember there was once this wonderful brave man who amazed everyone with his actions with animals in the wild.
  17. The worry I have with doing this is that I do not know which are the essential services, as a result I may not be starting the services which are necessary for windows to run properly. It would be helpful if someone actually posted the list of services which windows requires to run properly.
  18. I don't think the speed of the internet will be that powerful enough for us to upload 10-20 gb without waiting for several days. A fast internet connection would definitely come with a price. I am sure many of us would not want to pay more than USD 20 for a monthly internet subscription. And another thing would be the capacity of these servers which store your files, are they going to be a free service like what you see around (Megaupload, Rapidshare, SendSpace ... etc) because frankly, they are downloading at a slow-mo speed of 8 kb/sec. Imagine downloading a 100 mb file, it is already a killer and you may be right, the speed will gradually increase with time, but how many folds can it increase? Even if it is by the 10, 80 kb/sec to download 10 gb. Still a killer if you ask me.
  19. This is really freaky, deleted text are still being able to be located. I would never store any passwords on my phone. But shouldn't all the data be found in the SIM card and not in the phone itself.Does anyone have any idea how this reset procedure work? I am selling off my phone in a month's time and it would be great if they are not able to locate my data in the phone.
  20. I login to the forum everyday, and the reason I don't post sometimes is that I find nothing interesting to talk about. I think everybody should try to contribute topics which could generate a fair amount of interest to the other members. For example, in the mobile phone forum, there is hardly any interest, and it would help if people would help create threads to generate interest. I agree that we need to find other ways to reward credits to the users other than just posting quality posts. A quiz or a writing would be a good idea, this will help the users to post more interesting posts especially the writing, it is through this that many people bother to take 30 minutes to write something and to have people comment on it would be great. This would increase their credits as well as providing an interesting pivot of discussion. The arcade for me is a no-no if you want to add credits in it. The users would just stay 2-3 hours on the arcade, trying to get credits without contributing anything to the forum. The arcade is after all just a fun zone, but it is the posts and users which matter on any forum. No point having 1000 high scores in an arcade if the forum has hardly any new posts everyday.
  21. I think that there is absolutely no need for the user to show the number of credits in CPanel. Everytime we log into the forum, we see the number of credits we have left before it expires. I think this in a way encourages the users to log in to the forum everyday and at the same time, they could browse the forum and add more credits to it. And it is additional work for the admins if they are to edit the CPanel coding just to suit a certain number of users, I am sure majority of the user do not mind the CPanel not showing the number of credits they currently have. However I am all for the reminder notification. For example, should our credits go dangerously low below 5, then it would be a good idea for a pop up to appear in the CPanel notifying the user that his credits are running out and it would be a good idea to go into Xisto.com and post some valuable content.
  22. I do not know about C++, I had a brief introduction to it though while programming Symbian OS with C++. I have been learning java ever since I came into the programming world. Based on what I have experienced with C++, as compared to Java, it does require a header file where all the local methods are declared for further use. But other than that, what are the significant differences? I do know that the syntax is a little different, for example they are using printf() for the use of printing messages as compared to Java's System.out.println()
  23. That was a very detailed website you had there, really loved the comparisons made between phones and also the reviews they give. The enormous number of user-related comments also helps in deciding whether the phone is suitable in terms of the user experience for e.g. the bugs in a phone, optimised performance ... etcBut I would like to clarify on somethings I read on the website mainly the disadvantages. # No EDGE or Wi-Fi support (K790 has EDGE, but no 3G)# Records video in ancient QCIF (176 x 144 pixels) resolution only# Memory Stick Micro? (M2?) card type is still very new and unpopular What does EDGE exactly refer to? I have heard on EDGE and it is similar to a content shop except that it sells music, is it the same? Wi-Fi, are phones required to connect to wireless networks because that is what I understand from term as it is used to laptops nowadays. Records videos in ancient QCIF means that it is recording in a smaller resolution the phone right? Memory Stick Micro? (M2?) is unpopular but what kind of effect will it have? I mean you can still use it to connect to your computer, uploading pictures and stuff like that. How much difference would it make? And is there any downside to using this type of memory card?
  24. With GMail's features, it is not difficult to see which email service is the best, but I think a lot of us are sticking with hotmail because it hosts our MSN Messenger accounts, at least for me. Does anyone know a way to use MSN Messenger but with a google account? For me, I do not need so much space in the face of 2 gb as I do not store many files online. Regarding the idea of GMail storing your deleted files, it could be because they can retrieve it for some reason or another the user wants the file back. But I have no idea how they are going to achieve that.
  25. I have a very simple method as compared to what the others have posted, for you to play a music player in another page. Create a link and in that particular page you have linked your music to and then enter this code<embed src="https://www.test.com/; In other words, lets say you have a link to this new page (song1.html), and on song1.html; enter this code in your html in where you want to place your player. Most probably you would want an empty page where it centralises the player with a link back to the previous page. There are other properties you would like to edit like whether it loops after the end of the song or anything like that. So there you have it, the default windows media embedded player in your webpage.
