  1. Its all very fine when you can see your uncles car or you can see your friends house on Google Earth. But imagine this scenario - some mischief makers see some military site in some country which are not protected. They see the site, plan how to attack it and do it. These sort of scenarios can happen and that is why censoring the content is very much necessary. The country that is shown should have the right to tell what cannot be displayed openly. After all, we give that for a human. If you show C. Diaz topless, you are thrown into jail with hefty fines. Why Diaz's body cannot be see by everybody. Why the fine ? Same is the case with countries. I think the countries should stand up and demand that their rights to the images of their countries be protected and serious action taken against those who dont follow it. Why two different rules - one for humans and one for nations :)What say ?
  2. I saw a topic about religion and atheism and it got me thinking. Is there a God ? Who started worshipping God first ? Why do we depend on God to explain all unexplainable stuff ? Science tells us that everything you see, feel, or hear can be explained on the basis of logic, common sense and facts. Then why do we have to pray to God to make our troubles go away or to wish for something. We should be knowing that this is not possible as it does not conform to logic or commonsense.Or is there really some power that can control what the future holds for you.Can anybody give any examples of events that cannot be explained. If there are no such events occuring or if such events occur rarely, it does not count. It has to occur regularly if we have to believe in some external force. Even when there are no such events, why do we have faith. If there is a God, who found Him first ? How did he find Him. What were people doing before that.Questions so profound that I cannot even guess whether there is an answer.Send in your comments...
  3. she is still writing on paper ?using a computer must be more to the times , i guess.writing 700 odd pages with a pen, my mind boggles
  4. It is difficult to cope up with peer pressure. Especially if you are somebody with a low esteem. There is one easy way to make peer pressure go away, that is to have a belief in yourself and the fact that you are an individual who has no equal in the world. This belief , if you can strongly bear in your mine, will help you overcome any sort of pressure. The second thing to remember is that whatever your peers do, they cannot be you.
  5. The fact that apple is doing some modification to the ipods should not be such a big news. After all, every company makes modifications to its existing product lines. The fact that the ipod has increased hard disk capacity or available in smaller sizes should be taken for granted. That is because you expect a company like apple to provide some new features over time. The ones they announced are very basic ones and by no means expect a big appreciation. Another thing is about itv that they have announced. The product is expected to ship in 2007 and is going to help you watch movies on tv. That too ones downloaded from the itunes site with resolutions of 640 by 480. Thank you very much - but I already watch movies on tv and that too at much better resolutions with DVD players. Apple is not going far with this. By the looks of it , Apple is trying hard to prevent Microsoft from becoming the master of the home digital entertainment arena. Lets hope they do a better job with their future efforts.
  6. Just wanted to know how many of you are currently using C language for programming. If you can tell what sort of programs you do, it would be useful.
  7. Programming in any language is best learnt by going handson. With a good book by your side. In the case of C/C++, I would recommend Herbert Schildts Complete Reference. It is a very good book for people new into programming. Then later once you have gone through this book, you can read Kerningham and Ritchies C Programming Language. Thinking in C++ by Bruce Eckel is another good book for C++.In every case, there will be a hello world program. The reason being that it is the simplest program to write and one which gives you a visible output. If you are interested in real world interaction using C programs, there is an excellent site http://www.learn-c.com/ This site tells you how to use C programming to connect to electronic stuff and how to control them. It starts with the basics like how data is organised. A very good site if you want to learn C programming and finally control a robot :DHope this helps.
  8. The topic is more than two years old. Still it is very relevant. - The competition between AMD and Intel is hotting up. Although Intel is firmly in the drivers seat as far as desktop market share is concerned, in the server market AMD has around 25%. With the Dell deal, AMD will try to increase their desktop market share. The advantage od having two companies such as AMD and Intel is that the comsumer is sure to get the best product at a very good price, Think of the time before AMD came. With only Intel in the picture there was no choice and user had to buy at whatever price Intel sold the chips. Here's wishing more success to AMD.
  9. I was just going through the last 30 topics created. Most of the topics were not even worth viewing forget about replying. Why cant we have some meaningful discussions going on here. Why are people coming here and posting something just for the sake of posting. I am sure that many of the people coming here are having good technical knowledge which they can share with the other members. Why dont we have a question / answer seesion where you can ask doubts technical or otherwise. The person who posts the best answer first gets credits. The person who asked the question can say whether he is satisfied Xisto administrators can moderate. These sort of things will go a long way in establishing the credibility of Xisto forums. Also this will have many more people viewing and actively participating in the forums. As of now, from what I can see its just this.1. Get a Xisto account.2. Do some useless posts to gain credits.3. Get a free hosting account.4. Once in a while do some more useless posts to keep the credits above the required limit.I think the Xisto administrators have to seriously think of some mechanism whereby the quality of the forums can be increased. What do you say ?P.S.I was also guilty of the above practice
  10. The fact that Pluto was taken off the list of planets had me thinking about other planets and other galaxies.Surely somebody like us will be inhabilting one of those distant galaxies. If life started on the Earth, then it should have started on any other planet near a start like the sun. And there would be many such planets. What sort of people world they be ? Would they also have houses, electronic stuff, nuclear weapons etc. Would they be more advance than us ? Communicate by thought. Travel through time etc. Would they travel through space and find us. Because there is no chance of our finding anybody in the near future. If somebody else is living on this universe they have to come and find us out. Lets wait for them...
  11. It seems that astronomers have voted to remove Pluto off the list of planets. The textbooks have to be rewritten everywhere in the world.Children need to learn one planet less. Now what are the astrologers going to tell. Are they going to tell that they knew this was going to happen ?At least I think people can stop believing astrologers who make things up for their own profit.
  12. If Google asks you before they send out your personal information, think about what malware can do.All your personal info and tastes will be out there on the net.I dont know, to what extent google will go with this.Google desktop also has features that send out personal info.I dont think it augurs well for the people. Especially if something like what happened at AOL happens in google.Somebody mistakenly releasing information.Be very careful about what you do with your computer that has an internet connection. - Thats all.
  13. Yesterday I posted a topic 'Can You See Anything in this Picture' asking you to find out what was there in a picture. Such a picture is where an optical illusion of depth is created from flat two dimensional pictures is called a stereogram. There are some practical uses also for stereograms including use in 3d movies, to create 3d landscape from 2d pictures ( Mars rover used it ), clinical uses to find out about vision disorders etc. More information on wikipedia. Am posting another one. This is very good What is there in this picture ? So who can get it first ?
  14. Its a bird and its an eagle <_<HiDDeNMist gets the prize for getting it first. The prize is a mention in this prestigious post. You must have guessed it :Pshall i post more ?
