  1. It's bad for you to begin with - why would anyone want to char their lungs and ruin their lives? There was a guy I read about that used to smoke several packs a day even though his children were allergic to it. Might have been Reader's Digest. While I hate our mayor for a lot of things, at least he managed to do a little bit of good by eliminating smoking (I live in Houston). That doesn't help the smog and nasties that are everywhere else.
  2. Check out Dell's refurbished computers. I got mine (Pentium 4, Dimension 4700, 1 GB DDR RAM, 250 GB harddisk, 128 MB ATI Radeon video card, the whole shamboozle) for about $700. It was a bit more than I was intending to spend, but it worked out fabulously
  3. Text is a bit hard to read. Other than that, not bad. I would consider making it either darker or lighter than the background. It's a bit big, but within reasonable range.
  4. I like both of them. The cilver site is very lightly decorated. A splash of color might be nice. I'm interested in applying for a template-maker position thingamajig. Can you fix the application or get back to me on other methods to apply (or credentials)?
  5. It's cute but you don't really see any tears. I don't have much else to say because I don't know a thing about animating good icons like your own. I draw mine. Right now, it's a chimp thing saying WAUGH.
  6. Ah shoot. Clicked the wrong button . But, anyways, my name is Ranjani. It's pronounced "run-jun-ee". However, people will do their damndest to mangle it. I've been called "Rahn-jenny", "Run-janny", "Run-jonny" and all sorts of horrible little things like that. My last name is even further mangled by everyone who calls. No American can pronounce my name and it's weird because it's so easy. I mean, every time I say how its pronounced, it gets turned into one of those forms or many more. People just don't like my name the way it is, I guess
  7. So very very vague. I use a variety of programs that I can't even begin to recall in my head. For one, Firefox which I'm using right now. Soon, I'll be playing World of Warcraft. I'm signed on AIM, listening to things playing on Winamp, unzipping with Winzip/WinRAR, and I'm about to delete Internet Explorer - FOREVER
  8. Exactly - I don't care about brands at all. I care about what the product looks like, feels like, and then I make my decision. Of course, cost is always an option. I never buy expensive shoes because they're going to wear down or get too small eventually. My range for shoes can not be over $25. Same with clothing - for jeans, I won't pay more than $20. For shirts, no more than $15. For jackets, I go up to $45. If I like a certain style, I'll find more of the same kind. Brands never matter unless you're out to impress whoever. I mean, it's just a name and a logo. And they're expensive
  9. Not bad. I would saturate the back a bit more, but that's just me. The background is a little bright for the text.
  10. Well, I would take out the "Layout by:" tag on the site because you don't want to seem too attached to your work. Personally, I think the yellow is overused and the semi-opaque text in the top left corner is hard to read. The buttons aren't bad, but the text area has a different background from the text fields. It doesn't truly mean you're on the road to Julliard or anything, but it's not bad. Remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Now, I don't think it's that great, but a whole lot of other people have agreed with you. However, I do agree with you that Flash isn't a good design tool to compose your whole site out of. I use Fireworks a great deal more than Photoshop because the lack of filters and brushes makes me have to create my own art - which is what I love best - considering its your first, good work.
  11. I would think XML or PHP/MySQL. SQL's been around for a while and PHP has been around for a couple years. But more and more sites have XML/RSS feeds on their sites or on their journals so I can't really decide :/
  12. See, I love all of those except Outlook - but Hotmail is just more convenient for me. I have a Gmail and I should love it because of all the storage it has. But I subscribe to everything from my hotmail almost without thought. Hotmail is really slow and clunky, but something about it clicks. I plan to be a Gmail convert quite soon however.
  13. -The green is a tad ugly but it's your signature.-Don't use red on green! That will kill our eyes!-Mess around with opacity and layer your brushing. Don't rely on filters to get what you want.-The text might look better if it were just plain instead of dissolved as it is. It looks like someone poured acid all over it. Oh, and you spelled chief wrong
  14. 4image is a gallery included with your site - it's not bad. Either way, get your credits back up. I'd love to see your layout. The CMS I use is Cutenews and it works really well for what I want. PM me when you get your account online again
  15. Once you check that e-mail and get approved (hopefully ), your subdomain will be username.trap17.com where username is the username you signed up with (less than 8 letters to be MySQL friendly). You can create subdomains of your own later. You can also register a domain off another site (look around for nice deals) and refer it to your Xisto site for you to be able to access the .com that you want but have free hosting
  16. Once when I was about six, my brother asked me to call his friend Alex for him. So I dialed the number, but he left the room just then because my mom called him. It started ringing and a voice came on the other end (it sounded like his voice) so I started speaking. "Alex? Anoop wants to talk to you." But the answer was a bit confusing and garbled. It was most likely. "This isn't Alex - but I can get him for you." Instead, frustrated, I continued. "Alex, please stop fooling around. Anoop wants to talk to you." I called my brother to come get the phone. The voice in the phone continued protesting that it wasn't Alex. Angered and annoyed, I yelled. "Shut up!" in the phone, thinking that if it were Alex, he would stop messing with my head and answer the phone. The phone went silent for a second and my brother came in and picked it up from me. In a few moments, I figured out why "Alex" didn't speak to me.It wasn't Alex - it was his mother
  17. Bravenet guestbooks are OK if you just want something simple. Personally, guestbooks take me as kind of unprofessional. Plus, sometimes you have no control about what people write in there. Forums are much better ways of communicating

    Calendar

I'm also looking for a calendar. I tried EasyPHP but I'm afraid of getting a trial and not ever being able to use it past those 30 days. However, I do copy code a lot. If you see a calendar script you like, look over how they did it in their source code - you may be surprised.
  19. If your URL isn't loading up, you might not have enough hosting credits OR your internet may not be working. Check your connection and check how many credits you have. If this doesn't work, register another name at the forums and PM the moderators from there. If this doesn't work, please let me know through a PM and I'll see if I can get you help.
  20. Glad to help I hope that does the trick!
  21. It's probably just an update of some form that they didn't quite get to work. I have no idea where that idea came from but I've been trying to download the WOW patch for about three hours now and updates are the only things that come to my mind.
  22. That's pretty nifty! But I still prefer doing it by hand - less hassle, for me
  23. It's a bit simple, true. But if the music's all right, it should be fine. I can't really find anything morbid about it. The word morbid denotes gore, bloodshed and nasties. It's just kind of sad. It would be a bit more meaningful if you added examples. Also, it wouldn't really qualify as a lullaby, would it? Now for an analysis of your lyrics: - In the hearts of the what? -Mom'ry? A plural would probably be "mom'ries..." or something like that. This part doesn't have much meter. Try something like this: The [momries] we keep no longer Our voices are unheard We dwell in utter darkness Yet still, to our song we've given birth Ah, never mind. I'll stick to my own writing. Songs have never been my forte.
  24. First of all, <i>roses are red etc. </i> is the one of the oldest and one of the least original ways to say, "I love you". The rest of it is immature, it doesn't rhyme, and to top it off, it's lame and dull. It doesn't even have meter. And if you said that to any girl, I'm pretty sure she'd slap you.
