  1. I was doodling around when I was sick last week, and I came up with this. It's sort of simple, but I'm proud. This is my best template so far (pretty sad, huh?), but I have more good ones in the making. Tell me what you think! Constructive criticism would really help. View it here
  2. Basically, I mess around until I get a design I like (they have premade layouts you can choose from, but they're in form only...you have to fill in the colors and images and text yourself), and then I save it as a template. When I open a new file, instead of copying and pasting the code or remaking it, I'll say apply template or I'll open the template and save as .htm; therefore, it's very useful if you have to update your template because if you change that one template file, it'll already apply to all your pages.
  3. What I don't like about literary censorship is that our Bill of Rights clearly states, "Freedom of Press." What I do approve of it video censorship. I surely don't want to see people stripping and cursing on shows that families could be watching together. It would be awkward. Back to literary censorship: Books are products of imaginations. They could be on anything and we are guaranteed that right by the government. But I do agree with the rest of the people who posted. If something is not ours, we desire it more. And censorship does limit creativity. Think of how you would feel if your masterpiece of literature was censored because some people up in congress thought it was "offensive". You (or at least I in this scenario) would go into a creative slump. And the ironic thing? Not all of America can agree on whether a book should be censored or not. I'm entirely open to all forms of literature being out there, but it's up to me and only me to choose what books I want to read, right? And people should be allowed to choose what version of a book or movie they want. Otherwise, you sort of feel restricted. The government isn't allowing you your right to choose what you want to read/watch.
  4. Oh, right, my second rant. Don't judge a book by its movie. You'd be surprised. That's why I always read the book before watching the movie. It's much better that way!
  5. I agree with Brandice. Roald Dahl is a wonderful, whimsical author. My favorite book when I was growing up was The BFG, and Matilda, mostly because Matilda's just like me :-pRight, back to HP. I fell asleep during all three movies. I dislike movies that cut out major plot points, and where action is dominant over plot. When Harry Potter was a fad at my intermediate, I was very bored, that is...until I started reading the books. I was enchanted. Here was a boy who unlocked a magical world and had a mysterious past. Those were the days I wished I was at Hogwarts. I think they're wonderful books that both adults and children can either 2) relate to, or 2) enjoy for their entertaining qualities. Some parts have you crying, some parts have you seething with anger, and sometimes, you're laughing along side the characters. While it is true that it is a fantasy world, do not hesitate to believe that your own world can be magical. And that it's all about.
  6. Well...CSS isn't meant to stand alone. It's supposed to supplement HTML. I generally use the <b></b>...
  7. Wow! It looks really good! And I love the chrominess. Good job
  8. Exactly! It's so fun to mess around with images and colors and make something fun! Right, back on topic! I use notepad, Photoshop, fireworks, flash (although I'm not really very good), and Dreamweaver to make my sites. While Dreamweaver is very easy to use, I still think you should be able to code by hand as well. So I frequently switch between design and code views to edit my page and fine-tune everything.
  9. While I respect Fireworks, I still think Photoshop is a lot more versatile. For those of you who use either, you're welcome to share your opinion. Now, I like how Fireworks MX can correlate with Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and I love the .png images. Fireworks is better with vectors, and it has some neat brushes. But Photoshop seems to be a lot easier to use and .psd's are easier to work with. Photoshop also has several bevel and emboss options that I really appreciate, and it's very fluid to work with. It's one flaw is its cost, if you're going to buy it (e.g., if it's not already installed on your computer). It's sort of expensive for someone who just needs a graphic program. Now, I haven't tried Paint Shop Pro very much, but I've heard it's very good as well. So...I'll leave it to you guys now
  10. Mozilla blocks most of my popups, but as you guys said, they often do more harm than good. I can recall countless times where as my page just loaded, I clicked on a link or something, and lo! A popup gets in my way so I go to that site instead. And then a whole barrage of popups comes at me. It's just a hassle. I've stayed away from popups for a while, but if you have legitimate uses, they're not all so bad.
  11. Go to Guistuff.com. They have a lot of cool free tools and one of them is, yes, an image dropdown menu! Have fun!
  12. Yes, they're called hexidecimal codes. Hex (greek for six, which is why we have hexagon), and decimal (number, essentially, although the Latin root is decim, which means 10). So a six number/letter code for every color. My technique to this is to browse around and see if anything interests me. Otherwise, I simply type in a random 6-digit number/letter combination into my editor and see what it comes up with. That's my favorite method . Example...<font color="#183FAC">here's random colors for you!</font>
  13. do <center> </center around it. That should suffice. And yes, I don't think it's a problem with the CSS since the only way you can make a table is through HTML. Fight fire with fire, I guess.
  14. It looks all right to me. Do you need me to test it? Form-mail is my most favorite thing in the world because it's so easy to use. In fact...I'm trying to remember if I had to alter it in certain areas. Let me give your form a try
