  1. I like the font (hehe reminds me of Hotwheels ). The border needs a bit of work as does the background and the render. 5/10You're getting there slowly Notice from snlildude87: You don't need to quote the first post in the thread
  2. It's not so bad. But I think you spelled it oddly again. I can't see the "cui" part of it in Biscuitrat so clearly. True, it's a little blurry, but I love the colors and the border's nice. I'm content with brushing - you don't have to stick a render in for me. Thank ya!
  3. I guess it's not bad. The eye shouldn't be bumpy though. It should be more smooth. The rest of the skin should have a little more texture to it as well. But the coloring's nice. I also recommend not bevelling your text so much, and perhaps changing the color. It's hard to read the Maresan part.
  4. Very nicely done! Be sure to build off of this for other CSS tutorials if you make any
  5. Ooh nice - are these all your sigs?I like the third one a lot. In the bottom left corner of the last one, you can faintly read "Johnny". I'm guessing it was a gift sig from you to him
  6. Well, to start off it's way too dark. You can't even see the render properly. The background's flat and too dark for the render, erm...text is the wrong color and it has no highlights.3/10 :/The border would have been fine though if you'd gone for a lighter color. If you'd gone with that color scheme, it may have been fine. You need to use strokes, brushes, glows and lighting effects to properly have that render stand out against the background.
  7. I wub Warcraft as you've probably discovered from my other trolling posts. It entices me more because I like fantasy and the story's a lot more intense. Also, there are more recent versions of WC than there are of SC.
  8. Although I have to wonder why vanilla (which we associate with pale whites, yellows, occasionally blues) has green and why mint (which we associate with green) is blue.Creative license, I guess :/
  9. Argh, that would be ghastly. And it's not hard to do the coal walking if the skin on your feet has the consistency of titanium or is remarkably leathery, but I digress.
  10. She's spells it Ashlee :DAnd I hate it how Nancy Sinatra's classic "These Boots" was utterly demolished and made to sound ridiculous. How could you bear to do that to a good song?OK, guys, Cerb and I are offtopic again. Time for this discussion to go elsewhere.
  11. Pfft...1940. More like 1980 or 90 something. OMG MICHAEL YOU ARE SO GOOFY.
  12. This is my site. I finished the template a few days ago and I'm working on two things: 1) validation 2) finishing my pages Bear with me if they're not done - I've been taking a break from the computer
  13. But see, what I don't get is why being in love is such a horrible thing? What about fraternal and paternal bonds? They're borderline homosexual and there have been plenty of those. Also, you refer to a Christian god. Many more religions widely accept homosexuality as a fact of life. I mean, you can't stop yourself from falling in love unless you're pretty indifferent to yourself. We think of ourselves as a tolerant country but we're letting down some of the nicer people of this world - people who only want to love like any other citizen but aren't able to. Back to the point of life after death - let's try to keep this thread on track. The religious aspect of death is always a little hazy for me. I believe that I'll come back to earth in some form, maybe wander for a bit, but I don't know where I'll go after that. There are no means of finding out where the sentient bits of your body go. My scientific response is that the cells begin to deteriorate and the body goes with it. Simple enough, hmm? But what if there really is something in our body that can't be destroyed - that just floats away to give life to another body? A soul, essentially, could be something like a virus. It could be inhaled, perhaps taking the place of what was there and spreading itself throughout the body. From a spiritual point of view, this could very well make sense. Perhaps even from a scientific point of view. It would totally rock to have a mariachi band at my funeral playing "La Cucaracha". I may have stolen the idea from my brother, but I know I'll have a pinata and tons of snacks at my funeral. People won't be able to go away sad unless the food sucks.
  14. In my defense, the rat was talking to me and telling me wonderful things. To be parted with such a rat would be disastrous. But I'm on the verge of making a new one anyway.
  15. It might be best if you explain what a lot of the tags do. The <p> tag starts a paragraph. The <style> tags add CSS to your page (Cascading Style Sheets) which improves your design with special tags without unnecessary hassle. The <body bgcolor="#000000" (whatever color # you want)> part can be implemented in the stylesheet like this (I copied your example). Make sure you use hexadecimal codes (an example would be #000000 which will give your text or background a black color. You can find a list of these online. [CODE]body { background-color: #33ccff; } Also, you don't need to put a p (paragraph) tag in front of your italic or bold tags as that will form a seperate paragraph for just that snippet of text you wanted emphasized. I prefer using <em> to <i>, however. Lastly, it's bad design to use <font face="your font" size="your size #" color="#your color number">your text goes here</font> simply because browsers may interpret it differently. It can be done through CSS as you've demonstrated and that's the preferred method of altering text.
  16. You know, Cerb? That reminds me of more stuff I hate. I hate people who go and become famous for absolutely nothing. Like the Simpson sisters. They can't sing at all and they're extremely stupid. Just stupid people becoming rich and famous pisses me off. And to add to my list, I don't like people who think they can do the things that I'm good at better than I can, and then don't. The people who made my school's website have absolutely no clue what they're doing. They made it hideous this year. One of the singers who made All-State this year from my studio absolutely sucks. She only won her category because there was no one else in it. It makes me wonder what I would have won if I had competed in singing instead of just piano and duets :/
  17. I think the topic's already been resolved. Also, Michael needs to try harder on his sigs. I mean, it says Biscu-itrat. But then there's Gir! I'm torn between affection for my lovely little Gir or sadness at Michael's lethargy. BISCU-ITRAT SAYS RAWR
  18. I'm not that bad! I'm actually very good about delicate operations; I just tend to trip over myself a lot
  19. Haha, thank you! (And you too SecureA!) I go overboard when I mess around too much with the CSS and whatever, so simple is for the better. I love your site as well. The images (which I can never do past a certain point) absolutely rock and I love your colors. They're soft but they exude some kind of playfulness into the site. I really have to fix the text in the PSD. I think it was something I was meaning to do when I was switching between my two layouts, but I have yet to do it. I'm so lazy!
  20. Your templates need a bit of work along with a few of your sigs. You should probably invest more time into them as well as find some new fonts or brushes. I'm no expert with sigs, but they're a little lackluster. Also, holy crap Johnny - you're an admin? Huzzah!
  21. Here's my list. I probably have more but I'll limit it to three for you.1) Ignorant people - people who have their noses absurdly planted in some information and won't let it go even if the information itself is blaring "I'M WRONG -GO AWAY!" These types of people are usually hypocrites who will do anything to cover their tracks. Badly.2) People who do horrible things to other people - we all know of them. Murderers, rapists, people who abuse others and abuse animals. Why would they ruin someone else's life and screw up their own? I absolutely hate them. 3) Snooty people/people who suck up to others - hey, it's your dignity, not mine. But when you're trying to flirt or mess around with me or my friends, it means war. Whiny people also fall into this category. I knew a girl in marching band who would sit out every practice, try to encourage others to do the same, would use that time to flirt with whoever left practice with her, and would never get into any form of trouble. On one of our games, she managed to make half of my marching block stay in the stands. I had to lead the rest out on the field. It was a better performance without her and the rest of the ones who sat out anyway :/I realize I made my whole list about people and not just things. But there are so many people that just make me wish I were invisible so I wouldn't have to go through a whole school day with them.
  22. It's probably all right if it fits into these categories:1) The illustrator of the image agrees (e-mail them to make sure) 2) You link back or credit them in some way. However, if I need something for Photoshop or something to modify upon, I just google it, save a picture, and continue to mash it into something entirely different from what it was. Personally, I tend to avoid free-images-for-you websites because the quality of them isn't generally good. It doesn't give you the satisfaction of making your own. If it's one of those types of sites, you don't have to credit them because what more could they expect than people giving their site hits? Meh.
  23. If you think about scientifically, life does go around and around. Organic matter is recycled into the soil which helps plants to grow is eaten by animals who in turn are eaten by other animals. It's the same with a fruit tree or whatever that grows fruits with their seed and lets the seeds be scattered across the world. Is it so difficult to imagine that happening with a soul and a body? Hinduism is not just based on reincarnation. It also involves a sense of duty and accomplishment in your life - it's not based on how closely you follow whatever goals you wanted to follow, but how well you did the good things in your life. As a skeptic and a budding scientist, I find it hard to believe in the occurences of Christianity, what with its miracles and resurrections. If Christ did it, who's to say that it wouldn't happen again? Also, there have been instances of people remembering past lives and whatnot. Call it dementia, if you'd like, but it's not such a terribly blown out thing. However, thing I respect most about Hinduism is that there is no heaven and hell for the person. They get a paradise no matter what. We do have demons in our religion, but they live in their own sphere - the Netherworld, and humans don't go there when they die. Consider it as you getting a second chance if you screwed up your life the first time. It doesn't matter if it's as an animal or as a human - you don't go straight into a burning pit to be tortured for all eternity. You live out your life as long as you can, do the best things that you can, and if you need another round, take it. You'll get to paradise somehow.
