  1. Hey. Thaks a lot for your vote, Dragonfly. I didn't intend to use this image at all, like I said it was just a combination of ideas and testing them. You are right, biscuitrat, the eye looks much better now, more real. And as you can see, I also have a fictation on eyes. Almost every image you make, can look great, if you make a good eyes impression. I tried to find some gothic fonts, but stayed with my last one. It looks ok to me, even better then some creepy medeval fonts I tried before... I will try using the silver though, I like this goldish yellow, cause it goes great with the eye, but I have a feeling, your idea of silver will go great there too. Again, thank you all for your contribution to make me feel better
  2. Thank you all for your comments. I also didn' like the first text (is this second better? ), but went with it, as nothing else came as a good solution. I tried to take all your advices and changed it a bit. Do comment it again, please. It helps a lot to hear your opinions. Johnny, The dragon, as you say, I made it myself with a help of some brushes and other effects. And I even didn't want to make it - it was more-like playing with various options and ideas. I do have a question about text - what is your definition of a good text selection? What combination of effects do you feel are necessary?
  3. I needed some time to get back to my computer and photoshop and made this. Rate it, if you will.
  4. Kremit, those glowing eyes really make the sig alive, but I like Saint's sig better. This time I can't really tell why, it is just the whole concept of both sigs - the Saint's sig is more apealing to me. So it is 2:1, if I'm counting correctly.
  5. When I first started using design programs, I had to learn corel draw and photoshop. Now I can say, I can use corel draw to it's fullest and I still have to go to photoshop to make graphics.Corel is great when you get to know it, but it lacks a lot of effects to produce colorful and lively graphics, you can do with photoshop. So far I have made full website using Fireworks (I thought it was the most compatible match for dreamweaver), and it took me a lot of time to get the right stuff out of it. I didn't like it, so I stoped using it and went back to learning photoshop. You can also make nice webdesigns using Corel Draw (I also made one website using only corel draw), but as I said - there is serious lack of functionality to make great graphics. And I can't get myself to even try using corel photopaint, as I like photoshop so much...Photoshop is still the best program for graphic design, it gives you a lot of pleasure and satisfaction and it can always surprise you with it's endless possibilities.
  6. I feel almost stupid to be the third one to say the same thing Wolf looks great, but is a little pale and colorless. I'd say half alive... And Kremit. Sorry, but I don't like your background (it just my personal view )Although it is difficult to decide, because both graphics have their own good and bad points, I give my point to Kremit.I guess it's 3:0
  7. As no one replied to your question, I will. I suppose it's not such a big issue, but as I said from personal expirience - the higher the refresh frequency, the easier it is to look at the screen for several hours. I usually work from 8 to 12 hours daily and it means a great deal to me. I've also tried 1280 x 1024 at 60, to get a better view at my designs, but I couldn't stand it. There was too much flickering. You can switch to 75Hz and I believe after time you won't stand 60Hz either. (Higher the frequency -> less flickering -> easier to watch). And it is completely safe, especially if your monitor supports it - and you say it does. My monitor is supposed to support max 85 at my resolution (1024 x 780), but I raised it to 100, and have no problems with it . Also, by changing refresh rate windows should give you a 15 second test mode during which it switches the refresh rate. If you do not see anything, just wait for 15 seconds, and it should go back to the original state.
  8. So far I have only tried skype and it was OK. However I'm still on dial-up and it is not recommended for 56kbps. If I tried to use computer to computer call, there were problems in communication. But it works great at long distance calls to stationary phone numbers, and much cheaper... I still have to try this voip, I have heard a lot about it's functionality, but never had the time to try it.
  9. You are good. I had a 15" monitor and had a lot of eye problems with refresh frequency at 1024*768. So I got myself a used 17" (I got it almost for nothing:D) And I still have it on 1024*768, but now the refresh rate is 100Hz. Much, much better. Now if I use a smaller monitor with lower HZs for an hour or so, my eyes feel like exploding... Even if I had bigger monitor I think I would still stay at 1024*768, it is great for designing websites.
  10. THey definetely try. And they do it good. But they don't succeed. I am proud to say I've had no viruses for a year or so.After a good lesson or two I got myself a good protection, and feel very lucky every time I download my e-mail and see a red pop-up window, saying "Virus detected!".For how long will I be safe? Don't know. Hope, for a long time. You all know it happens quickly and without prior confirmation...
  11. It is definetely the best choice to clean primary partition and reinstall. It takes you only an hour or two to make necessary preparations, format and install fresh and problem free Windows. (Priority is, of course, to have original Win installation cd... )MY friend once had a problem with non-legitimate copy od Win XP - every time he reinstalled it, there was an error and computer was full of viruses - after a few times he realized it was the installation cd. Good luck with your computer. Hope it feels better soon.
  12. Torrents were the only kind of downloading, that didn't cause me any problems with speed, spam, viruses, etc. I've tried many different programs, but they usually slow down my PC, make slow connections to files and produce a lot of undesired spam. So, If I really nead something, I use my second best friend google by typing the desired keyword + torrent. Works like a charm. NOTICE: * Nothing is safe if you don't have a good Antivirus and Spyware protection *
  13. Thank you for your advice, I'm looking at fab images at depthcore right now. Beautiful art! I am also trying to get myself a good and preferably easy 3D modelling programe, just to get started. At the same time I am trying to get into this Photoshop action as fast as I can. There's a lot of practice in front of me, huh? But, as I said approximately 2 hours ago - - and here is something: It took me a lot of sweating and swearing, but I think I almost like it This much for now. Have to go to sleep. Here it's waaaaay past midnight...
  14. WOW! You are a master of sigs. If only I had a clue how to do sigs like that. I congratulate you on your talent to make beautiful graphics so alive. I hope I can follow your path one day... You my master. Now, that I saw you art, I'm on a mission. To make something at least close as beautiful as you can do... I have no idea, how But still Wish me luck...
  15. I agree with above sentence, and I think it is the best answer to this riddle. Well, my answer is laughter . Without it my life wouldn't exist as it does right now. It is more important than gold, money or success. Money makes us work. Gold makes us greedy. Success makes us (too) proud. But laughter makes us alive.
