  1. hmm... i wanna experience all 4 seasons when i travel in the near future. apparently in our country we only have two seasons, the dry (usually just summer, where it's totally hot, just like now) and the wet which means it almost always rains. it could be fun when it rains, but sometimes it brings a sad aura to most of the people and to others, that sluggish feeling that you just don't want to move out of your bed and stay there the entire day.
  2. how do you deal with failing grades, i mean, if you ever had some that is.i'm not supposed to talk about stuff about myself that are too personal, but i guess the sinking feeling just got into me so hard that i just can't help but ask. i guess misery loves company and i'm trying to look for someone else's misery so as to not make me feel alone. sorry.the sem at school just ended and i just found out that i flunked 3 out of 5 of my subjects, and not because i failed on purpose but because i failed out of making a wrong decision (and people around me making wrong decisions that affected my grade)--it's a long story, to cut short, i chose to sacrifice some subjects over another only to realize that the sacrifice wasn't worth it. i haven't told my parents yet because i know they're gonna go berserk over the fact that i failed. and the guilt is totally killing me from within. it's summer vacation right now and i can't even enjoy it because of the stress brought by these subjects. i'm taking my time off to rest my mind but i feel like i can't do it because of the burden brought by not being able to tell my parents about it.i know you're gonna say, "just tell them, they would understand, or at least they will try", and that's what i'm thinking right now, but knowing my parents, they're not gonna let this pass by without giving me some dose of their pep talk that i sometimes don't even find helpful. and if i tell them about my failing grade this early part of the vacation, it feels as if my vacation wouldn't be worth it because i know it'll just be full of "lectures" enough for me to have another guilt-trippin'. and if i tell them about it before the enrollment of the sem in june, the thought of not telling them about it is just going to bug me the entire vacation, in turn wouldn't allow me to rest mentally--and it would take a toll on me physically and emotionally later on.to sum it all up, should i:1. tell them about the failing grades now, or;2. tell them about the failing grades before the new semester in june starts. :sigh: when it comes to decision making i'm such a klutz...
  3. my computer is my life. simply put, it's what i need at school. why? because my course is computer related. but of course i also use it for surfing. and updating my site.
  4. i use avg because someone here advised me to use it after my pc encountered problems. so far i haven't had any problems after i've used avg, except for hardware problems. grrr. our pc's motherboard got burned and they are blaming me because i use the pc all night long. like duh! if that's the case, they should be blaming my course in school not me! it's not as if our projects are that easy that i can do it in just a snap in front of the pc.oops... wrong topic. hehe
  5. well, i hope i wouldn't go as far as killing myself because someone left me. i haven't had any experiences like that but i guess she really did love the guy with all her heart. but i think what lacked in this situation is guidance from her parents. i can't believe a father would just leave his gun all around the house for other people to have access to it. yeah i know it can be used for self defense, but a gun is a gun, it's harmful in many ways than one. and the mom, where's the mom? poor kid, she had to suffer on her own, without the parents to lean on to.but i think the whole moral (for a lack of a better term) of the story is that if you're going to go on a relationship, try to leave some dignity for yourself. yeah, love is all about giving/sacrificing a part of you to that special someone, but it doesn't mean you have to give everything you have. try saving some for yourself, so just in case something like this happens, you won't be regretting everything.love will hurt, but you should be ready for it just in case.
  6. can anyone help me? it seems nobody noticed my message because it already went down the latest activity list in just a few hours.
  7. please transfer this topic to a subforum if this isn't the appropriate subforum. i can't seem to find one that might fit this topic. thanksi have downloaded a file from a torrent client along with other files. i'm trying to figure out if the mdf file is the rip from the dvd that i'm looking for. the problem is i don't know how to open it(the mdf file). i've looked through the net and it says that i should use ISOBuster. i've tried it but i don't know exactly the steps on extracting the files on the mdf file. any help would be appreciated.
  8. you got one for free? wow. i hope i could get one too. i guess the reason why i want an ipod is because of the capacity. i always find mp3 players as flash drives capacity too small, although it is very compact. but i want to use a separate player for my songs from the flash drive for file storage. i'm a music lover and it's a bummer that all of my music are just stuck in my pc at home. and most of the time, i easily get bored that's why i need one, not because it's a fashion statement (i don't think of it that way because i'm not a fashionista anyway), but because it's a necessity. bleh. just in case you know some sites that offer free ipods or any mp3 player for that matter, will you please let me know. i could use one myself.
  9. i have a fear of places with crowded people, those where you can barely get enough air to breathe because of so many people taking in the same air you're breathing in and out. i get tense when that happens. it gets sweaty because of less space to move around. it's not a pretty thing to experience something like that.
  10. as much as i want a new mobile phone, i think i'd rather need a laptop. yeah, i'm a very demanding person. anyone knows where i can find a free laptop? hehe. just kidding.
  11. pop ups can be tricky. some of the geeks in our school try their best to improve the school's network and softwares to prevent popups from appearing when one surfs using the pc's in the labs. personally, i've had problems with popups (which almost destroyed my pc). even in my previous hosting site. when i found out (through mozilla) that my previous hosting site adds popups to their members' free accounts, i withdrew my files and transferred to Xisto.
  12. studying the day before sometimes is quite helpful to me because it stays longer in my mind. this is not advisable because it could make you lose the information at the last moment (what i call "black out"). it would be better to study a few days before the exam, depending on the coverage of the exam. if the coverage is somewhat long, you have to prepare and study a few more days. it's good if you study longer each day, but sometimes, our attention span is shorter so studying longer can be quite boring and you might find yourself sleeping or staring to space halfway the study time. i suggest you leave 2 to 3 hours per day (if you have a lot of time to study before the exam) just to study on the subject. my rule of thumb (which was told by my professor when i was still a freshman in college) is you have to study twice the number of hours the subject consumes in your weekly class. for example, if one of your subjects runs for about an hour twice a week (that would make it two hours of the subject per week), you have to study on it like 4 hours. and like what i've said before, you can distribute the number of hours of study to each day of the week if you still have time.like what others had said, getting a tutor or at least someone who knows more about the subject and is willing to help you would be fine. personally, tutors don't apply to me because i've had problems when my mom got me one. apparently, i really didn't need a tutor because i realized that i got higher scores studying alone that when i studied with the tutor.taking down notes during class would also be helpful. you don't need to take down everything your professor says. you just have to take note of the important ones. it's more helpful if you listen first before you take down notes. our mind can only take one thing and process it one at a time. that is if you are multitasking. hehe.and lastly, try to get some problem sets and sample exams to help you through the studying process. most of the students in our school (if not all), pass the exam with the help of sample exams. i don't know if you can get sample exams to subjects like language subjects but mostly can be used for math, physics and other subjects that need some computing and problem solving. take your time in studying this.ask your professor if there's something that you don't understand. after all, they're there to teach. the common misconception about being shy in asking a prof is the feeling of being judged because you weren't able to understand what your prof had just taught you. as my profs always say, "we don't bite".
  13. the issue of the yondaime being naruto's father is just a rumor. it's not true. people just assume that because they have the same hair color and that jiraiya often say that they were similar in personality when the yondaime was the same age as naruto's
  14. oh so it's a dumpling. i love dumplings. i haven't tasted those that were cooked in boiling water or steamed, i've only eaten those that are fried. but i'm willing to try. thanks for the recipe. but want i want to eat right now is noodles, those that can be found on noodle stands and eat it using chopsticks. i have my own chopsticks brought by my younger when he went to china for a math competition. and there's one more thing that's in season today here in our country. it's mangoes season here and our mango tree is blossoming already (and we can see some fruits growing right now). our helper at home got some of the green mangoes and served it with shrimp paste (we call it bagoong here). man, it's so delicious, i can't believe it's been a long time since i've had this craving. people say only pregnant women only have cravings for green mangoes and shrimp paste, but i'm a guy and i'm not pregnant so i'm a living proof that it's not true. hehe.
  15. what do you mean by 'bleep-ier'? probably because of the way these people were brought up, and how they interact with other people, either rich or not.
  16. but there are private school students who are very bright. the only difference is that most of them are rich. but let's not be judgemental. it's not fair if we stereotype those kids who study in private school, because we don't know if all of them are rich. it's just sad that there are a lot of rich kids who look down on others below their financial status.
  17. poor kitty. maybe the mother wasn't taken care of properly during pregnancy that's why the child had underdeveloped parts. it wouldn't be a surprise if it died because it didn't have a nose.
  18. well, primarily it's the plot and gameplay. we don't want to play an rpg that we would throw to the trash before we would finish the game. i would prefer those that would make me feel like playing it again and again and not be bored with it. the graphics plays a role too. with the fast paced technology, most games would be evolving and adopting to the current. we should expect to see a lot of games with outstanding graphics, those that seem to mirror reality. of course some wouldn't easily accept something new, and still prefer the previous than the new ones. but i guess it's all in the person who's playing the game.
  19. i'm currently studying in a government (i wouldn't call it public) university, but mind you, our school is our country's source of the brightest minds (and it's the country's state university). i also came from a government school back in high school. it's a science high school, that's why i'm more inclined towards science (but that's not the issue right here). i attended a private school when i was in grade school, and i should say that it's a lot different from that of the government schools. but i know that both can produce students who excel in different ways. it's just that when we talk about private versus public, there's always an issue of the distinction between the wealthy and the not. but i know a lot of people who are wealthy but they study on public/government schools because some of the public schools here are way better than the private schools when it comes to quality of education. but there are private schools that are well known because they offer good quality like those of their equivalent on public schools. but of course, these private schools are only accessible to those who are higher on the financial status ladder.but then again, even in these institutions, the division between the wealthy and the not is obvious (and some people are exaggerating on things). i know it's unavoidable, and even i sometimes feel the same way.
  20. worst way to die? i guess probably anything that would make me suffer for a long time (before it ends). i guess being a person who have experienced a lot of pain and suffering for the longest time, yeah i guess that kind of death would freak me out. a swift way to die would be more preferable, but i'm not saying i want to die already. i've always said before, it's not dying that i'm afraid of, because i know that at any instant i could die, it's the effect of leaving people behind when i vanish from this world. i may be ready for death but i don't know if people would be ready if i die.
  21. it's a really hard thing if something like that happens, especially if food is concerned. it's kinda weird to hear that a fast food chain could spoil the food they're serving (i dunno in your place but here, cleanliness is a rule of thumb, nobody should mess with that). indeed food poisoning is a huge problem, and it's very difficult if you get sued because there was something faulty with your service. i remembered when my younger brother got hospitalized frequently because he had stomache aches. my parent's first guess was about the food he eats at school, while i just told them that my brother probably just don't chew his food properly (just swallow and gulp ). at least the worst case was just being confined. one doctor advised that he should be operated and have his appendix removed because of the pain, good thing we looked for other doctors' opinions on it.
  22. haha. i don't eat the chick (i'd rather call it that than 'fetus'), i only eat the yellow part. never really liked eating balut, but i eat the boiled duck egg (penoy). it's just like eating hard boiled eggs.
  23. wohooooooooo! good thing i saw this topic on the list. hehe haven't i said before that i love to cook? cooking is my passion. cooking is my past time, and it's the only thing that removes all the stress. when i have enough money (after getting a job), i'll enroll to a culinary school to be a chef.true true, cooking is an art, but cooking doesn't have to be boring. i try to enjoy every moment of cooking. and of course, the best part of all is eating the food that you've made. what would be better than that?if you want to know how to cook, basically start of on how to boil water. funny as it may sound, but most people laugh when they hear that. it's the most basic, like learning ABC.
  24. is that what the chinese refer to as moon cake? i'm not chinese but my dad worked in a bank near chinatown so i'm always introduced to those kinds of stuff. but to answer the topic, i love food, i would probably trade anything for a good amount of savory food or even sweet desserts. i love cooking and baking but my most favorite thing is pasta. i'm a pasta guy. maybe i was french in my past life speaking of pasta, i'll probably cook one later. hehe sorry guys, i don't share. just kidding.
  25. nyahaha!!!!!i didn't get it. hehe. just kidding. i didn't get denmark for the country. what happened?
