  1. thanks for all the help guys! my pc is now working. although there's one thing that bothered me when i was fixing the problem. i used the bootup disk (and followed the directions according to bootdisk.com's steps), but when i used it, the pc reads from the disk drive (i.e., drive A:) but it doesn't read the bootup disk. so since this attempt didn't work, i tried epox's advice on the boot settings at start up. i have two drives (like what i've said before), one has xp home with ntfs and the other has windows98 with fat32. when i changed the boot sequence from disabled to the drive with xp home as the os, and then saved the settings and restarted the pc, it asks for the NTLDR file. but when i changed the boot sequence to the drive with windows98 as os, and saved and restarted, everything works perfectly fine. i can access both drives with ease.does xp with ntfs has its own bootup disk?
  2. i'm using windows xp home. the other hard drive is using windows 98. i saw from websites that i have to create a boot disk. i already have one but i don't know how to modify the boot.ini file. i have two drives one is using xp and the other is using 98. should i choose the former for the boot sequence? what do these actually do and how does it work?
  3. the problem is i have so many files that are really really important stored in the drive. my dad has files too and so as my brothers. i'm starting to freak out because i have a deadline tomorrow and on thursday so i really need to fix the pc. with that said, i don't have enough time to seek help from a geeky friend since it would take more time. most of my geeky friends live near the school while i live miles away. i wouldn't mind bringing it to a computer shop but unfortunately, most of the computer shops in our subdivision are quite inefficient.anyway, i've checked the cable connections again last night and they were all intact. and the pc can now detect the hard drive yet the message still occurs. i've searched it up on the net and some said that i need a boot up disk so i could fix the problem. some said it is included in the windows installer but i don't know where my brother placed our installer (and unfortunately, he's in japan right now and he is the only person who has the ability to fix the pc).it sucks to think that i'm studying computers yet i can't even fix my own pc. it's just that when you say you're a computer science student, people (and even i) assume that i can do those hardware stuff and all. or maybe i just need to buy a new pc.
  4. ok, i'll just cut to the chase, since i'm only using the pc from our school's library (this isn't free and my time's almost up). last night i was accessing my device manager so i could change my audio playing from digital to analog (so i could put the earphone on the cd jack). anyway, when i accessed it, my pc started to hang. but i was able to resolve it when i closed the program down. but that's not my problem (it's just my introduction). when i restarted my pc (since i had to do some other things), the pc couldn't shut down. after windows says "saving your settings", it just hangs there. when i pushed the reset button and my pc started running, i get the message "disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter". i opened my cpu to check on the wirings, but everything's totally connected. at start up, there were times that the pc detects the hard drive but the message still occurs but there were times that the pc doesn't detect it and has the same message. yet, it detects the cdrom.i'm starting to freak out since i have a lot of deadlines and i'm losing so much time. please help me. i will check on this forum later when i have time. thanks everyone!
  5. that's an example of the "mean girls" thingy. obviously, you're in the wrong group of people. in the case that you don't have any place to sit on to do your work, maybe you can go to the library, or ask any people on any other table if you can sit with them for a while so you can do your work (it doesn't necessarily mean you would talk to them, you just need a place to work anyway), or there are probably more places outside, like you could go underneath a tree or something (for shade), or if you want to be more exposed, you could place a mat on the grass for you to sit on and lay your things. although the latter wouldn't be that much of a good thing since you have to be in a good position for you to work well.
  6. does meta tags really help? i've heard from a friend (and read from a website) that meta tags don't work on google. i think that's true since only google can do a search on my site and the posts that i put on it (although i'm not sure about this one)
  7. if i'm not mistaken, i saw trap from searching in yahoo. i was looking for free hosting for my website and voila! i'm here. i haven't activated my account though. i know i have to go here and post in order for my website to be up and running. but unfortunately, i'm too busy at the moment. i just got some free time before i would go back to doing my projects. arghh... life sucks.
  8. i'm already in college yet i still don't have my own laptop. i really need one since it has a relation to my course in college. ugh.. how i wish money is easy to get so i could buy things that i need (take note, i said "i need" not "i want". people do confuse that).
  9. i do blog. i've used blogger and tabulas before but now, my blog is truly personal because i write the code of the website myself using php. it's a lot more fun than using services like those of blogger and all.
  10. does photoshop have a tool for vectorizing pictures?
  11. well, that's the point of being an ex. i don't think most of the couples would want to be friends after they break up. usually, it would be awkward to interact with someone whom you had connections with. if you want to move on, you have to let it go. he has to learn to do the same thing, or else both of you would only have problems later on.your ex is kinda freaky though. with the threats and all. i mean he won't even let you moveo n with your own life. maybe you should try to move away for a while. give yourselves some space.
  12. i've finished the game already. both fire emblem and sacred stones in gba. basically it's a matter of using the characters more and, well, not letting them die of course. i don't usually hate the characters, it's just that there are other characters that i am fond of using. oscar is the paladin, right? sorry i forgot already. it has been a while since i played the game.
  13. sometimes its good to have some time alone. you don't always have to be with one another all the time in order to maintain the relationship. sometimes, you could be away for a little while to make things more exciting. exciting in a sense that you will miss the person because he/she is away. in this manner, you would feel that you want to see him/her more often.about you being with other people, i think it's an issue of being honest, and especially, trust. you have to trust one another so that suspicions will not arise. that's the whole point of being with someone you really love.
  14. 14 years old huh. i guess technology has reached far and wide, wide enough for young people like you to be involved. but don't take this the wrong way. i mean i don't mean anything bad, i actually believe that technology has good effects and all. it's just that i envy you because i started getting interested in the web when i was 17. i wanted to make my own site so i could feel the sense of accomplishment that comes with it.
  15. well, if i don't have much time, i just read on the post and the first few replies. sometimes, it takes a glance for me to understand what the replies mean, so it's ok for me to just go ahead and post. and if i have time, i really do read replies. because sometimes, i comment on them (not just the reply to the post).
  16. how come this message only goes for the "extremes". i don't think we guys in general think like that at all. it's hard when we're generalized into one stereotype just as girls are stereotyped like those stated above. probably some guys are like that but, not all.
  17. my top three would be iced tea, fruit juice (any kind of fruit) and cola. i'm not really fond of cola because it sometimes stings my throat. iced tea would be preferable because of the benefits that i get from it.
  18. i have played lunar silver star story complete and lunar eternal blue complete in playstation 1 (totally love the game). i have also played megaman x series in the same console. usually, i only play gameboy advance at home in my pc. i have an emulator for the games since i don't have the real console to play the games with. although, i have played vast array of rpg games in gameboyadvance and most of them i am particularly fond of. i like the golden sun series in particular.
  19. i love dishwalla and their songs. for me they're one of the best bands out there. i love their opaline album the most (with special mention to tracks such as, angels or devils and every little thing).although sometimes, my favorite song depends on my mood. there are certain songs that are very catchy and it doesn't have cheezy lyrics. (that's a big no-no)
  20. that's cool. i've heard people do those kind of stuff. there's a group here in the philippines where one of the members does the beatboxing. he's great. did you ever experience spitting off saliva by accident? hopefully, i don't get sprayed with saliva by a beatboxer (no offense, AlphaMei)
  21. probably it's a malformity of some sort. or probably a part of the evolution thingy. monkeys use their tails for them to be able to hang on trees, used as a grabbing tool. evolution of the human species did not need the tail so as time passed the tail shrunk. if i'm not mistaken it is our tail bone. correct me if i'm wrong though.
  22. yeah i'm in college right now. next year would be my last year. hopefully i would graduate. although i don't know if i would want to find a job fresh after graduating. i think would want to rest for a bit so i could prepare myself for another world that i'm going to enter.
  23. isn't this topic the same as the other one? i know because i've read the post of the person who started the topic. and i know because i've replied to it.oh. the other one was a poll. but it's still the same topic.
  24. but if you're going to use "../index.php?bg=FF0000" in the above statement, anyone can change it, by just typing a different color in hex. that could mess up the entire design of the webpage. what if i don't want the users to change the page's colors directly from the url. instead i want them to choose from different color schemes that is specified in my web page.
