avg saved my pc from the virus i got from opening a mail. i'm such a stupid person who fell for a trap. i thought the pc's problem was hardware but i realized that maybe my pc was just attacked by a virus. thanks to the people who introduced me to avg, now my pc is working properly.

Do You Believe In Dreams! what is your opinion
master_bacarra replied to master_bacarra's topic in General Discussion
i'm not the type of person who would think that dreams are something prophetic, believe me. it just bothered me because it just so happened that a death of a friend was the dream. i usually shrug off really weird dreams like once i dreamt about riding a motorcycle fast enough that i slammed on a wall, or just recently i dreamt that there was a massacre and someone i know and me were the witnesses, only to end up later being hunted by the killers or something. believe me, i just wake up and if i find the dream weird, i just shrug it off. but the dream of a friend's death was kinda realistic for me not to believe. right now, i'm not trying to make a big deal about it by not telling anyone close to me or close to my friend. again, i don't say all of my dreams come true in real life. and sometimes i end up misinterpreting the dream (and i hope i did). man, am i nuts. but anyway, thanks for all of your opinions. i totally appreciate it. -

no, it didn't happen in real life. my friend is totally fine, that's why when i got that dream, it had me worried. and like what i've said before, if my dream reflected what i do in my life, then what does the death of a friend has anything to do with it? well, i had dreams that happened in real life. sometimes i forgot that i dreamt about it until i feel like a certain event has happened to me before, sort of like a deja vu. -

well, i hope it it's something about the first three, but if that's the case, why do i have to dream about the person? i mean, i don't have any direct connection to the person's transformation, new beginning etc. if it meant the second one, i don't think i would be ending our friendship sooner because we've been friends since i don't know when. whatever the meaning of the dream is, i just hope it's not literal. i wouldn't know how i would react if the same event happened in real life. -
i beg to disagree. i am a gemini and it is known that gemini is the most intelligent among the zodiac, being ruled by mercury, cunning and fast in making intelligent decisions. hehe.

i know that dreams are representations of our subconcious and i know that they have a hidden meaning that we are left to discover for ourselves. but in my case, there were times that i have dreams that later on happen in real life, just like a premonition or something. recently, i dreamt that a family of a friend of mine were mourning. when i asked what happened, i "remembered" that my friend died from an accident and her mother was in the hospital because she was in comatose (apparently she was included in the accident along with my friend). the reason why this dream really disturbed me a lot was because it involved a friend of mine. and it's freaky because sometimes the dreams that seemed to be realistic usually happens like a few days, months or years later. i just hope it wouldn't happen. i quoted remembered in the statement above because the dream seemed to occur like a few days after the accident. How Did You Get Your Computer? Interesting story behind mine
master_bacarra replied to _TyIzaeL_'s topic in Software
i snatched my pc from the store. hehehe. just kidding. my parents bought this, although the pc is second hand, that's why i need a new one or a new laptop. gimme some laptop!!! hehe. -
personally, i prefer anime over manga, basically because it's more fun to see. but when it comes to storyline, i would go for manga over anime. take the case of naruto. in the anime, there were a lot of fillers that sometimes aren't really necessary. the manga version doesn't have any of those.

Basic Ways To Speed Up Your Web Site
master_bacarra replied to kvarnerexpress's topic in Programming
i've checken the first one of the links. it said that my website loaded in aroung 1.something seconds. looking at your definition of a good website being loaded, does it make my website look good or bad? my webpage contains nested tables at level 2 meaning there are only two tables one is nested inside the other. but my page is loading quite well. although i don't specify the height and width of some of the images. tsk. -

master_bacarra replied to ckuehner's topic in Software
i really can't remember the the specs of the pc, but all i can remember was that it got infected by a devil virus (a face of the devil appears on the screen and infects the system) that totally freaked me out. i was YOUNGER back then, like i was still in early gradeschool or something and the only thing i do on that pc was to play a fighter plane game using an outdated 5 and 1/4 diskette. -
Which Email Provider Do You Use?
master_bacarra replied to alexia's topic in Websites and Web Designing
i use gmail for my website and other stuff that are semi-important, yahoo for those groups that i am interested in and our school mail account for academic purposes. i used to have many accounts at yahoo before but i barely use others so i just let them expire or something. the reason why i had to use a gmail account was because my yahoo mail was being flooded with spam. but i still use it anyway. -
What Are Your Grades? Post them here
master_bacarra replied to Albus Dumbledore's topic in General Discussion
the sem hasn't finished yet so i still don't have my grades (since our classes start on a different month to yours). i'm just an average student who's struggling at school. hopefully i get much higher grades this sem. next year's going to be thesis year and i need to find a job for my internship. sigh. then after that, i'll be looking for a real job. life is just a recurring thing, going on circles and all... -
so here's the thing. i got this really neat application that plays songs from a list of songs. you can place this application to your website so people can listen to your songs while they are surfing your site. it's called radio blog. the difference between radio blog and other players like media player that you can add on your site is that you don't need to upload the entire mp3 on your hosting site (so it won't consume a lot of space). it has a converter that converts mp3's to a much lower size files with rbs extension name.but here's the problem in relation to the bandwidth of Xisto's hosting accounts. isn't it that bandwidth is consumed once people visit your site? so if i try to play the radio blog that is placed on my site, how much bandwidth can be consumed if, let's say, the rbs files have an average of 500kb size each? does anyone here have any idea on how to compute bandwidth consumed by visiting a webpage?
-
is this for real? i was thinking of adding more bandwidth to my account. can i really do this?
-
why can't i choose more than one? anyway, i love Xisto. i'm already comfortable with the forum so posting (for points) wouldn't be a problem. obviously i want to keep my website up. plus, Xisto doesn't have pop-ups. how good is that? the last thing i want to do is to deal with pop-ups and its probable harmful effects.
-
is there a code (let's say in php) that can prevent a pop-up from appearing, because the free hosting site adds pop-ups in your website (i'm not talking about Xisto, of course). i want to save precious bandwidth for my website so i want to link up some files to my previous free webhosting site, but whenever my website loads, the pop-ups from the webhosting site still comes up. and to think i'm just testing it on my server here at home. i'm not posting this to offend Xisto mods because i'm still using my previous account. i'm not trying to offend you peeps. i just want to save some bandwidth (obviously i can't afford to buy a decent package for my site).any help would be appreciated

this topic is probably the topic that hurts me most of the time. i love my computer and i cherish it even if it's kinda old (like a few years or so). and since it is kinda old, i encounter problems occasionally. i do back-up my files frequently, usually on cd (and copy those cd's like around 16 months later, since cd's lifespan is around that time) but i also send some to my gmail (i really find it useful for storage). but gmail is just for small documents that i need at school, since i don't use diskettes and i don't have a flash disk (oh, poor me).backing up became a habit for me since i encountered the most horrible event in my college life. i was in the middle of doing my machine problems that were due on a near date. my older brother who was about to graduate needed the pc. he wanted to partition the hard disk so he can install linux on it (because he needed that for his thesis). apparently, he didn't tell me that he was going to do that and i didn't know he was going to reformat the entire disk (without even asking if i have important files to backup). when it happened, i almost exploded and cursed my brother after that.

well, i find gmail very useful especially with the addresses where you can send emails to. apparently, you don't have to store the email addresses. you just keep the mails that people send to you. emails that you send are also stored so you won't have any problems accessing them for later use. when you compose a message you can just type a few letters of the email address and a dropdown option will appear and list all the email addresses (or names) which contains the letters that you've typed. with regards to spams, gmail separates these emails from those that don't have any potential danger with it.
-
i wanna learn splicing too. do you have any tutorials? apparently, i'm having problems with the images that i put on my site.
-
ah. yeah i see the problem already. i think i have uploaded the wrong files. hehe. i guess was in a hurry. i'm still trying to get used to the cpanel thingy since in my former hosting site, the files section were completely different. the link's correct by the way. how do i know the right directory path? and besides, on the latter part of my php code, it seems that the directory i specified is correct. yet the one above isn't? how's that possible?

apparently i was able to finish my deadlines and the presentation worked really well. unfortunately, my pc encountered the problem again. i've used the bootdisk and the computer now is trying to find a file named hal.dll from the system32 folder of my xp drive. my prof told me to use the cd installer of windows xp and choose the "repair" option at bootup to fix the problem. hopefully this time, nothing would go wrong.i noticed one thing through this problem of mine. one of my best guess why my pc had gone bonkers was because of a virus. because everytime i load xp, a warning pops up if i should run "windspl.exe" or not. i found out from the net that this is a result of a worm that has recently been discovered. with that said, do you know any good anti-virus software that i can download? i want to fix this problem up to the last bit. grr... viruses suck
