  1. You don't have to appologise to me. I did make the restrictions a bit too low. I was looking at an advertising banner for Xisto at the time and I thought it was sensible to make the max limit the size of the banner. But your entry is valid so you have nothing to worry about. And I quite like it too.
  2. I can't get onto your website. Firefox gives a "Server Not Found" error whenever I click you link.
  3. Bkag, I'm happy to accept you into the competition as you have not battled before. Please submit a sig as soon as you get the chance, remembering the size limit.
  4. I'd be a Sceptile, because they're cool, classy and powerful.Or a Golem... I haven't really decided yet. But the idea of being able to withstand dynamite blasts and you can blow yourself up if you wanted to does appeal to me.
  5. Deadline has been reached - no more entries are being accepted! Please go to the voting topic at: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/43680-gamerathearts-newbie-sig-making-challenge-voting-vote-for-your-favourite-here/ I know a lot of you out there are fairly new to the concept of sig making. Maybe you don't actually want to make a sig yet because you don't feel it would be good enough. This contest is for people like you. I'm inviting every newbie sig maker into a free-for-all Sig Battle! You must make the best sig you can come up with, and then we'll vote to see who's best! So if you're new, like I am, and want to test your skills, this is the perfect opportunity. Rules: The sig can be of any theme you like. Max size is 468x60 You can use any render you like if you wish to use one. Animation is optional. If you have been in at least one other sig battle before this one, you will not be considered "new" and will be disqualified. Your entries MUST have your name visibly placed on them. I will be allowing entries for exactly one week. The voting topic will be started Friday 8th December and any entries recieved after then will not be counted! There must be at least two entries to this battle, NOT INCLUDING myself. If there aren't, I will extend the entry period until we have enough. No copying other people. Let's have a good battle and I hope I bring out the creative side in all of us! Here is my entry which I'll be using as my sig after the battle is over:
  6. Also, have you noticed that even though you pay a large sum of money for the AOL browser, they STILL put adverts in it? Like the banner ad on the e-mail inbox? What's up with that?!?AOL is just a crappy rip off of Internet Explorer given a different look and a mailing / IM system, and marketed off as their own. It even comes with a suckier service. And yet you end up paying more than ?18 ($30) for a basic package. They're just crooks looking to make big bucks.
  7. Sorry to dissapoint you, but it appears that this will only be coming out on PS2. Which sucks, really, since the PS2 is quickly becoming outdated, and we haven't had anything decent yet on the PC (RPG Maker 95 & 2000 was too limited, RPG Maker 2003's Battle System sucks something nasty, and I STILL can't understand RPG Maker XP's Scripting System!)
  8. I completely agree with all of you. Even though newer games are sooo much better nowadays (or not ), it's still good to go old school now and then. I love playing games like Space Invaders, Donkey Kong, Asteroids, Baloon Fight and all those old school games whenever I can.
  9. Well if you search the web, you'll find that there are a lot of sites that can give you basic JavaScript help. I learnt a few of the basics using this really wierd HTML Help Webpage, Funky Chickens. Their JavaScript page can be found here. The "Name Asking Popup" code they give is wrong, but everything else works. Hope I have helped.
  10. Size: 400x100 Theme: Computers or gaming. Render: Consoles / Periphals, or anything of a similar nature. Render Theme: As above. Color: Blue Background. Text: Yes. What do you want it to say? There must be one instance of my username, gameratheart, on it. Other than that, you may put any text you want on it. However, you must remember that excess text can ruin a good graphic. Other effects: Up to you
  11. BuffaloHELP posted the exact method I was about to suggest two minutes before me. Kudos to you, BH. I use this exact same method on my own site, to host what you could say is an affiliate site of mine that my friend runs.I should warn you, however - Anyone who gets the FTP information will be able to have full access to anything in the folder you allow them to see, including all subfolders, so don't put anything of yours in his area, just in case he accidentially deletes it.
  12. I am thankful for this service. I recently got a new firewall software and I wanted to know if it was effective. This test proved it was - all my ports were on Stealth, except port 443, which was being used for a secure connection at the time. The filesharing test also passed - the firewall blocked any package information that was sent. I would, however, not reccomend juat doing the SheildsUp! Tests. On the website, there is also a very helpful tool called LeakTest. Some firewalls only block incoming connections, and do not block outgoing ones except in very extreme circumstances. This tool will see if an outgoing connection can be done - if not, your firewall is secure. It can also check if your firewall can be exploited by attempting to make the connection in stealth mode, if you hold Shift during the test. I tried this and it proved my computer is very secure. I highly reccomend these tools, they can really help your safety and security!
  13. This is very scary! Thanks for the heads up. I just checked my registry and no signs of this virus exist, so I'm relieved, but I'm definately gonna make sure people know about this. This link is going into my new signature!
  14. Thank you Buffalo. The problems seem to have been sorted out now, and I have removed the faulty add-on domain. Thanks a bundle for your help.Appologies for not giving actual times of the errors in any of my posts, as I hadn't kept track.By the way, is it possible to change my CPanel username? Or for that matter, my username on these forums?
  15. The problem with the domain miscalculation has existed for several days. I wouldn't think that was the problem. As for unlimiteds, yes I am aware that most of them should be, but a lot of them shouldn't. And at the moment, they ALL are. And how was my post less than descriptive?!? I have given you as much description as is humanly possible, and you need MORE?!? Where should I get support, then? I am not seeing any attempts to help as of yet...
  16. About a month ago, I paid for my website to change it's subdomain from http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ to http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Since the change, however, wierd things have happened. The first thing I noticed is that the CPanel started claiming that, apart from the bandwidth and space limits, I was allowed an unlimited number of anything! I overlooked this problem, thinking it was just a usual side effect of the move and that it would be fixed at next reboot, but then a few days later, I tried to add an addon domain, and after adding it, I was told my limit for addon domains was 0, and the pages stopped working. Weirdly, however, it still sems to have added it! Even worse, the option for it has disappeared from the CPanel! The account information also showed this after it happened: And today it got to it's worst - since about half an hour ago, every time I try to upload, remove, chnage the permisions, or otherwise do something to the file system, whether through the CPanel or FTP, I keep getting "Read-Only File System" Errors! In despiration, I decided to inform you people and ask for some support. I have no idea what on earth is going on, and I REALLY hope you can fix it. Otherwise I shall have to leave this wonderfully superior host . My website is at http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/, and if you need my CPanel or FTP info, please feel free to PM me or e-mail, I'll reveal.
  17. I'd like to thank the mods for dealing with some extra points that have been popping up. I have also been reciving a lot of user input recently, and so have modified the original post to reflect some more commonly asked-about points.
  18. I have recieved many recommendations from various sites for this one, including iopus, which Buffalo suggested. I am, in fact, testing it out now to see if it serves its purpose for me. I am aware of this. I am not surprised - they buy over every good firewall / antivirus system.
  19. Thanks for your tutorial. I now have a favicon on my site! For those of you who want to use something with a photoshop-esque feel to it, but can't find a way to make icon files, I found out The GIMP can make icons... does that help?
  20. IPB 2.1.x is a little complicated compared to most forums, so I can see why you asked this question. But you'll figure everything out eventually. It appears the topic starter's question was answered...
  21. My god, that is the most ingenious and best mobile phone I have EVER heard about! This phone sounds like a whole new revolution to mobile technology!I'd really want one of these, but the price point would no doubt be WAAAY (plus another 30 As) too much for my kind of lifestyle. *Sigh* What a shame...
  22. Most people say that Hotmail only gives you 250MB. In fact, Hotmail is soon to become Windows Mail Live!, and if you join in with the beta of the new Windows Mail Live! service (which you can join either by clicking "Try the New Beta!" in the MSN Hotmail Inbox, or by registering a new HotMail account) you will get 2GB, which I've heard is more than what Google gives. Plus you don't get any spam anymore (and if you do they have a filter that will delete anything they suspect as spam after five days), while a lot of my firend's google accounts have been subject to heavy spamming (a problem that used to happen to hotmail).Windows Live! Messenger is also much better than Google Messenger. For one, the new messenger allows you to communicate with Yahoo adresses, and for another, it is much more advanced. But I do have to admit, HotMail does suck. It's laggy, and not keeping up with the times. Go for Google if you want Mail only, but go with MSN if you want a brilliant Instant Messenger that nearly everyone uses.
  23. That was the problem I had a week ago... I'd installed CookieSafe and told it to globally block cookies, without allowing Xisto.com. Allowing Xisto.com fixed it. In fact, what truefusion said is probably the answer, as I use FireFox 2.0 all the time and have never encountered any problems with the CPanel, the Xisto.com site, or their forums.
  24. I'm pretty sure I've already posted here before, but I can't find my post and a search didn't find it, so I'll say it anyway:I google searched for webhosts and found Xisto, but was put off by the technicality of the website. Then I spied a link to Xisto.com on the site, and I've never looked back.
  25. Correction: I never said I didn't like it. I said I couldn't get it to work! And what's the point of having a firewall that doesn't work?
