My website is split into two directories: "site", which is my main site's content, and "forum", which explains itself. The "site" directory is mostly filled with Joomla! files due to my website using the Joomla! CMS.Previously, I was able to upload templates and extensions to Joomla! without fail. However, since today whenever I've done either of these I just get "failed" messages. Unable to source it to a problem with Joomla, I tried to access the directories using FTP.I was able to access and rename all my directories using FTP, but whenever I tried to delete some of them, or change their CHMOD permissions, some directories failed to change, and I got "Permission Denied" errors. I then tried using CPanel's File Manager, and again I was able to access the directories, but if I deleted one, it would fail to go to the trash, and if I changed one's permissions, it would tell me "operation not permitted".Strangely, I have noticed this behaviour in only two directories - site/admin, and site/components - and their subdirectories, but all other directories behave normally. Actually, there is one other directory that acts wierdly for me too - I am unable to upload anything to the site/media directory, but I can still do everything else in it.What is going on? Can someone please help?

Clarifying imbibe's post, the forum software SMF has a system called "SMFShop - The Shop MOD". Adding it to your forum will give you a credit system which you can customise to give credits based on the amount of words and characters per post, and whether the post is a new topic or a reply. It also has a bank, so people can store the credits safely, and you can even give them intrest on the bank balances so they gain more credits by banking them. SMFShop also gives you a shop system that allows you to define rewards that members can exchange their credits for.The only difference is that SMFShop does not automatically deduct credits over time. You'll either have to do that yourself, or make a script to do it for you. But it's a good script, and I actually use it on my own Forum to judge the quality of user's posts. Reportedly, a similar script also exists for IPB Forums called "IBStore", which is apparantly what SMFShop was based on. But I've never tried IBStore myself, so I don't know if it's anything similar.

There are five websites I regularily go to, and they are almost always in this order: Google (I set that as my homepage ) My Xisto-hosted website Xisto Giveaway Of The Day & Game Giveaway of The Day An Unnamed Game Community These five websites pretty much tell me everything I need to know these days, as well as introduce me to new Software and Games I may find useful. If I ever need to find anything else, I just do a Google Search.

My 14-year-old sister smoked for over a year but kept claiming she had never smoked in her entire life. One day my brother caught her in the act when she was with a friend and started trading cigarettes with her. He tried to talk my sister out of it (smoking), but she didnt listen. One day, not long after, her friend came up to my bro and tried to get him to start smoking, too. My bro took the cigarette from her hand, snapped it in half, threw it away and told her never to come to the area we live again. None of us ever saw her again and my sister quit soon after.I seriously don't know what is so "hip" with smoking. You're filling your body with over twenty different poisons, and increasing your chance of sight loss and lung cancer (among other cancers), and once you start it is nearly impossible to stop. I will never smoke in my life, and that's a promise. I'd rather be killed than kill myself, if you get what I mean.

To me, AVG Anti-Virus is the best Anti-Virus out there. It gets updated like every two days, and automatically checks for updates daily (you can even make this hourly in the paid version). It's incredibly smart and thorough, but also rather quick, plus it auto-scans the computer every three days in the background, and lets you know the results. For an extra step of security, I also reccomend getting Comodo Firewall Pro with Defence+. This extremely powerful Firewall Software is completely free and extremely secure, plus Defence+ allows the Firewall to automatically learn the functions of all the currently installed programs on your computer and automatically allow them, and any new applications that get added to the computer are automatically distrusted so that the Firewall always informs you what's going on with them and allows you to block or allow suspicious activity. Combine these two solutions together, and you've got the most secure computer in the block! It's never let me down!

All of my computers to date have had their Windows OSes built-in. Coincidentially, they've all come without a disk as well - even though the company I bought my current computer from was supposed to supply the disk as part of the price Oh well, it's their only mistake.I don't see how anyone could even think of downloading any Windows OS, especially through torrents. Not only is it illegal, but torrents are incredibly prone to illegal activity, and it's hard to trust unknown websites. Often the downloaded OS will cause more problems than actually buying a legal copy, especially when it comes to privacy (Spyware and Malware is often installed on OS Downloads from unscruptulous sites). Bootleg copies are a no-no too.

The Motorola Razr V3 has been long credited for it's slim design and decent look. In fact, they remind me of those communicators they used in Star Trek (not that I'm a fan). But they have incredibly low storage space, so you won't be able to keep much on it...Motorola recently released a new phone, the Krazr, which is supposed to be an improvement over the Razr, and keeps the same style. I don't know much about it though, so I can't really help you there...

My website did go down on the 17th of Feburary, I did notice. But I thought nothing of it because my website has been rather glitchy recently and I thought maybe it'd come back later. I don't even remember if it was around this time I first noticed it was down. But thanks for telling us this. I posted a news article on my website to explain the outage, and linked to this article, so now people should know what happened.

You and me both, Saint_Michael. I've never really understood the hype about High-Definition, anyway. Especially since HDTVs and equipment are usually twice as pricy as the regular kind...

Cant Create Any More Databases [resolved] In myphpadmin
gameratheart replied to sonesay's topic in Web Hosting Support
For some reason, phpMyAdmin is unable to create new databases. Instead you must use the Database Manager. On the main menu on the Cpanel, next to the "phpMyAdmin" icon, there's an option for "MySQL Databases". You can create new databases, add new users and set their permissions, and set the Access Hosts there. Hope that helps! Oh, and for the record, each Xisto web hosting account has a limit of 99 MySQL Databases. This limit is due to the CPanel not allowing the "infinite" setting for MySQL Databases. But I don't think anybody needs to create 99 Databases, anyway -
The "Software" link will not work for a LONG time, because as-of-yet I haven't actually got round to creating any software yet. That link is only there in case any Software developers out there would like to join the site to give them another place to distribute their software. As for "Games"... well, I just added the first of what shall hopefully be many games onto the site, so that link now works. That's one more task crossed off The "Forum" link also works now, and it will take you to a special page on our site with the forums placed into the middle of the main site. Unfortunately, you can't actually log in to our forums from the site itself, as it seems the Joomla Login script has been broken somehow. I'm trying to work out what happened so I can fix it. You can still use the direct link to our forums and log in there, however - it just won't be reflected on the site. (The direct link to the forums is http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ - this link takes you away from Joomla so you only see the "pure" forums) Also, on Feb 21, 2008 I changed the theme of my forum, so that looks much better now. I'm also currently looking for a new theme for Joomla so I can change that as well (I am HOPELESS at making themes, especially since I'm new to Joomla).New polls have now been added to the site, and it will now randomly select one every time you view a page on my website. As for images... well, I'm not much of an artist, but I do plan to put some screenshots of my games somewhere on the site, so they'll probably be added soon, too.

You're right - I just searched on Google, and while Joomla doesn't have Forums built-in, there are a few extentions available that can allow a forum to be integrated into Joomla. The main one is for SMF, so it looks like I'm going to switch back to SMF Forums and integrate the two together. I'll post later confirming the results. EDIT: The integration went flawlessly! Now you can register an account on my website and also use my Forums. The link on the website will show you the Joomla version of the forums, which is practically the same as the regular forums, except that you get to see the whole site and the forums just go into the middle. If this doesn't work, however, you can view our forums like they're supposed to be by going to http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ - as far as I know they both work.

Thanks to Xisto, and two days of non-stop work on my website, I am now ready to announce what is now my third (and, I hope, final) relaunch of my website, Hangman, Inc. Gaming and Software. The last time I launched this website, I had this idea of integrating Forum Software with an effective Content Management System. The original aim was to make the website, forums, and the Games Database interact with each other so that they all worked with one another. The problem was that, instead of using an actual Content Management System, I instead chose to use a CMS-style Mod on an SMF Forum. This turned out to be too restrictive and also put strain on my database, and in the end the website practially killed itself. So I scrapped the old site, came here, and decided to start afresh. This time, my site does a proper job of things. The main website is done using Joomla! CMS, with an SMF Forum integrated into it thanks to a Joomla Bridge Extention. I decided on this combination because it allows for a professional-looking website while still being easy to use and administrate (and also because I have expirience with SMF). But, I want to know if my redesign was actually worth it. So now, I'm asking if anyone out there on the web can come to my website and tell me what you think! Your comments will help towards the development of my website, so don't be afraid to tell me your honest opinions. Oh yeah, and please vote on the poll on the front page once you're done. That's just another way of submitting your input. The website URL is http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/, or you can also try http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/, whichever you find easier. I should note at this point that this website was only just opened to the public, so while the Forums may be open, they are devoid of content at the moment, and while all the links do work, "Games" and "Software" don't actually lead anywhere yet. Thanks for your help!

Pie Cakes (or, Pies Inside Of Cakes)
gameratheart replied to KansukeKojima's topic in Health & Fitness
My mum thinks this idea sounds yucky, and personally I think it's insane, but I would love to try this for myself! Pies and cakes are my two favourite desserts and I've always wondered what they'd be like together, too!Sadly, it'll be a LONG time before I ever get to make one for myself... I still live with my family and we never have enough ingredients in the house for anything other than the basic meals. -
Same here, so I doubt that a dream by itself can be lethal. As everyone says, and I agree, it is the consequences of a dream, NOT the dream itself, that can be fatal.

Rpg Maker 2003 Questions Relating to battle...
gameratheart replied to Bryan2008's topic in Computer Gaming
Sorry for the slow reply. I was just making sure I got this right. If you start a battle with the setting "Back Attack", your character will have his back towards the enemies. The enemies will get first attack and you will have to wait for your ATB Bar to fill before you can retaliate. "Surround Attack" only really does anything if you have two people in your party. Your party surrounds the enemies, giving you more chance of success. "Pincer Attack" is basically the opposite of "Surround Attack" - the enemies surround you! These two settings are disabled if the "Character Placement" setting is set to "Manual", however. (Switch it to "Automatic" in the Battle Layout Tab, in the "Database", to use these) Intelligence decides the effectiveness of magic spells in Battles. Some spells rely on high intelligence, others don't rely on it at all. Agility is basically your speed. Higher speeds make it more likely to dodge damage in battle. The difference between your Agility and your enemy's Agility also decides how fast the ATB Bar fills. These settings can be found in the "Battle Layout" tab, in the Database. Hope that helps! -
I've got a problem. I am a Brit, and so is my brother, but I am from a family who's native country is Finland. A while ago my Grandfather came to England and stayed with us for a while, and during that time he decided to use our computer. However, our computer is in English and he knows little English himself, and as a result our computer was nearly destroyed. Not willing to risk this again, my query is whether or not there is a way to change the language the computer uses, and then change it back when we so decide. But does a method exist, and is Finnish an option? Please help me out as it is driving me crazy. I am running a Windows XP Computer, Service Pack 1 (can't download SP2 for some reason) and my account is an Administrator. I have limited funds so if you suggest any commercial software please keep it cheap. Thanks!

Security Guidelines For Internet Users
gameratheart replied to delivi's topic in Security issues & Exploits
This is very useful advice that all internet users (or for that matter, computer users) should heed. If I were a mod I'd pin this, but ifs don't count. You have mentioned all the important stuff, however. Keep up the good work! -
How Did You Feel When You Got Gmail? Share it here
gameratheart replied to delivi's topic in The Internet
I was invited to Google Mail just one short month ago and I don't regret it. It's just awesome. It looks brill, it's so organised, and the storage space is always increasing. So I voted "All Of The Above"! -
Due to a major computer crash, I regret to inform you that I am no longer able to judge this competition. Being it's only representative, this therefore means the contest is now closed and all participants are no longer able to participate. I will redo this contest another time when it is possible for me to do so, and anyone who participated in this contest will be allowed to join it. Until then, sorry for the inconvienience. Please can a Moderator close this topic? Thank you.

Hi guys! While I may not be considered by many to be a "new member", since I've been here since last year, my computer broke two months ago and I haven't been able to be here since. Now, thanks to a local library, I'm back, and I thought I'd make my first post here in the introductions area.

Hi, guys. Unfortunately for me, my only other computer at home recently went bust. So now it is impossible for me to get a connection to the internet. I can do some work on my site at school, but unfortunately school ends today. I?m making this post to you to explain my current predicament and to gain credits; however I now have no computer access and probably won?t have for at least a month. If at all possible, I?d like to request that my hosting is suspended until I get access back. Thanks for helping me out.
