What Are The Best Ads For A Bonus Site
gameratheart replied to Estupido's topic in Online Advertising
Yeah, Google are very cautious. If they think something looks suspicious, they don't take any chances. And once they mark you as fraudulent it's hard to convince them otherwise. -
Member Levels what are they and how do they work?
gameratheart replied to lordofthecynics's topic in Web Hosting Support
Everybody knows he's the King of the Trap, no questions asked. Well... actually, he'd be more like the Prince of the Trap - OpaQue would be King 'cos he started Xisto! -
I am surprised by the signifgant lack of people who believe that hardware viruses are possible. I have known them to be possible for ages, and I'm pretty sure that there is already many well known ones that show why an antivirus is a necessity. But, it must suck to see that you have one. You may not be able to get rid of it, but you should try. If you can't, then... I hope you've got money...

What Is A Good Free Forum Software?
gameratheart replied to lemonwonder's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Yeah, SMF is good. Closest to IPB you'll get without buying IPB (unless you use versions prior to IPB 2.0 - which are no longer legally downloadable, but are legal to use if you had it before they took them off), and it is just sooooo easy to customise and admininstrate. It also has tons of mods, including some remakes of IPB mods (such as the shop) and many of them are already part of SMF! (Download Manager, Karma Mod) I loved SMF, and I did use it for two months on one of my sites, but I still vouch for IPB. But then, if someone came up with a mod like the Army System or something for SMF, that would most likely pursuade me to come back to SMF Actually, they'd need to do one other thing too. Because I easily lose track of what a topic means, I like to use IPB's Linear+ layout so that I can see the first post at all times. SMF has a mod to emulate Linear+, but instead of copying the first post onto new pages, it starts another page when one fills up, then makes a new post with the same content as the first. This annoys me since: it adds to the post count, it reduces the amount of posts that can be shown on a page, The change will always remain even if you disable the mod, unless you delete the posts it makes. I'd like to see a better mod that doesn't have these quirks. -
My Best Friend (derek Alain) Had An Accident
gameratheart replied to OpaQue's topic in Alerts, News & Announcements
Not only must it suck, it must really hurt, because it means OpaQue must feel as though he was partially responsible for his death. But that isn't true. Indeed, he may have been responsible for events that led up to his death, but he is not the immediate cause, and should never be blamed or made to feel responsible. Does anyone ever recover from the loss of a loved one? They may stop feeling the pain of losing the person, but to be honest, I think everyone knows in their heart that the pain is still there. I mean, I lost my dog recently, and though I don't feel sad about it anymore, I still feel hurt from it, and I miss her dearly. But yes, Derek will not be forgotten. Not while people are still aware of him. Though many of you may not feel like it, Derek was not only part of the community, but part of us too. And I cannot forget how he died so innocently. -
Gamma Server's Time Is Two Months Behind!
gameratheart replied to gameratheart's topic in Web Hosting Support
The script takes the time from the server itself, so it actually is using the time from wherever the website is based. It is supposed to therefore be in GMT, without any Daylight Saving Changes. But it isn't a problem with that script - it's a problem with gamma server itself. It's behind by two months, and I don't know how to change it. -
I'm thankful for your comment. This is one of the most heartfelt songs I have ever wrote, and I tell you, I didn't know how true my song was until I posted it here, and even I am still hurt by how true it is.I know you don't get credits for posting here, which is a shame because I really deserve them, but the truth is, there is nothing in the world that can match the value of a heartfelt tribute like this.

Well... in effect it is a profile page, because it is a page showing what a user has, but it isn't really talking about the user. Talk about stating the bloody obvious! (Sorry, that was uncalled for, but I think I've already demonstarted that I know how to get MYSQL data - I just don't know how to use it)

People will always try to judge a person by how the person looks and/or acts. If a person isn't in favour, he will probably never change his mind. Thing is, when those people find out you're dating the person, they always try to express their feeling of hatred against them and against you. I could tell you for ages that you should just ignore them, but the truth is that they will always be there, expressing their views. Such is life, my friends, such is life. The best thing I'd reccomend, is to take their views and whatever s*** they might have to say, and throw it away. Don't ignore them, just forget everything they tell you. 'Cos if you think he's the right guy to be dating, then he is the right guy!

As part of a web-game on my site, I have a php form that requires people to enter their username, and information about the characters they want to have in the game. All this information is stored into a MySQL table. I want the players to be able to visit a page where every character they have registered with their username can be seen.My question is simply, how can I check the values of the MySQL data, and act accordingly? What I need to do is check for a Username and a character number, and if it finds it, takes the data in that part and acts on it, eg. by showing the picture of the character and the information they gave about it.Does anyone know how I can do this?

For a description of who Derek is, and why I wrote this song, you can read the stuff I've hidden below: [hide=NDPA]For those of you who don't know already, Derek, one of Xisto's main server Admins, and one of the best friends to everybody in this whole community, died four days ago, on the 21st of August, after a lot of prayer and a constant struggle to keep him alive. But he will not be forgotten - even after death, he is still an example to us all, and I think you'll all agree that a part of him still exists in us all, even those of us who may have not known him well.So I made it my duty to make this song, which I dedicate to him and to everyone who prayed for him. I hope you enjoy it, and I know that secretly Derek is looking upon us with utmost hapiness. So here's the song...[/hide]You gave a good fight, you weren't gonna give up,Even at the last second you still remained tough,We prayed to the end; yet your death was not stoppable; We believed in your recovery, though it was impossible. You showed us all what true strength of the heart really means; Our love for you was so strong, death just wasn't forseen; But you still live as part of us even today,So this is our song, I won't forget you as I pray,Because you were too innocent to have to suddenly die,Only now I see how much a brillaint guyYou really were to all of us; I wish I'd got to know ya better,But you're a true inspiriation to us, even beyond the last letter; We're not gonna forget about you, ya know,We'll never be able to restore the normal flow,But the way you stayed strong, never gave up hope till the end,You're a true inspiriation, my unfortunate friend.I always used to say how wrong this world was,I always started to think we were all just a lost cause;People were wierd, and times were strange,But now I see there was reason for a change. You showed us all what true strength of the heart really means; Our love for you was so strong, death just wasn't forseen; To us, or just to me, your soul still remains,A part of us all was lost in God's game,The death of an innocent man is cruelty itself;God's playing a game with us, we all lose our health; But you know, I can say right now, if a person fights for his innocence; Then live or die, that person is the world's best friend - you know it makes sense!Because you were too innocent to have to suddenly die,Only now I see how much a brillaint guyYou really were to all of us; I wish I'd got to know ya better,But you're a true inspiriation to us, even beyond the last letter; We're not gonna forget about you, ya know,We'll never be able to restore the normal flow,But the way you stayed strong, never gave up hope till the end,You're a true inspiriation, my unfortunate friend.OpaQue, Saint, rejected, Tristan and more,There's just too many to name them all,Come here, let's all share a minute of silence; And lets feel comforted he didn't die from violence.Good night, everyone!(And if anything in that song didn't make sense, just PM me. I did try to make this song as well thought-out and understandable as possible, but being British and not having been established as a songwriter, I can't be sure if I succeeded)

When you think about it, Albus is speaking some truth. At least 10% of the Xisto members have gone on to Xisto - Web Hosting, so it is possible that part of the logic behind Xisto is secretly based on the fact that you can get hosting with more than twice as much space for so little a month. Of course, there's no way to know for sure. Me too... when my site gets a little bit more popular...

Actually, because of this new definition for Planets, it is being heavily debated as to what now constitutes as a planet, and it looks like Pluto will no longer be a planet after all. At least, that is the recent news we in the UK have heard of it...The new definition and the rulings resulting from it are supposed to take effect starting on the 24th, so things can still happen during that time to change all this...But I agree with elevenmil, the definition of everything is becoming more controvercial. And while I happily accept and celebrate the finding of new planets and objects in our solar system, I don't agree with how the scientists are changing the rules so much, that it makes it so that three new "planets" have just been "discovered", when really we all knew they were there the whole time.

What Is Your Websites History?
gameratheart replied to Albus Dumbledore's topic in Websites and Web Designing
My website's history is quite complicated and rather broken, because I've actually forgotten when I started my site, and the events that led up to it. This is what I remember:Both me and a female friend of mine used to be big Neopets fans, and we would talk about it every day together. We just saw the game as the best thing the web has ever given, and saw no sign of it going downhill. So when Neopets finally DID start going downhill, we both agreed that there was something needed to be done. The main things that came into mind was the adverts neopets had added everywhere on the site, and the amount of unused characters they'd registered. I had a talk with my friend, and we agreed that we needed a community that was free from ads, and that always used everything it had, not let things just dissapear.Anyway, I don't know if it was because of a hatred of neopets, or a dare from my friends, or even if I was even thinking at the time, but I eventually decided to start my own community, called Denzipets. I got a test site up sometime in the later half of 2005, but I don't consider that to be part of Denzipets' history anymore, since the principles for the site were different from those today, so I won't discuss that. In October 2005, I moved the site over to cjb.net, but the ad banner they added onto the site and their various web hosting restrictions made me unable to keep it up there, and I stopped using it after a week.I still didn't give up, though. Having some expirience in the field of communities after a little bit more time at neopets and a few attempts at moderating other peoples forums and/or being active in them, I began to rework Denzipets entirely. My friend stopped helping me at that point, believing that I had given up on the idea, but my brother is now actively helping with the graphics, saving me a lot of time. When I had finished a basic site design, I decided to look for a host for it. By accident, I stumbled across Xisto, and the rest is history.I got hosting on Xisto in November, and the site made an official realease on January 1st, 2006. But even to this day it is still being worked on, and even I have to admit it is far from complete. So now you know the past, will you be there in the present, joining us in our quest to make the future of gaming communities? It's your move. -
What Is A Transgender? all about transgenders.
gameratheart replied to braitt's topic in General Discussion
I wouldn't go so far as saying that transgenderness is actually a mental disorder. Whileas it could easily be that the thought of being another gender could be triggered by some mental disruption, it does not immediately mean that the person has problems with mentality, as many "transgenders" actually have a very clear mind. With this said, I cannot find signifigant evidence to support the idea of being a transgender, especially considering the case of males believing they are female. Although recent DNA research has shown that everybody appears to start as a female and then develop the male... characteristics... this cannot be used as proof of transgenderness. And there is no evidence of any persons mind performing actions that only the opposite gender should be able to do.I guess what I'm saying is, being a transgender may or may not be a real thing, just as it may or may not be a disorder. Until I see signifigant evidence on one side, I for one cannot make a jungement. -
I noticed a problem on my website a while ago, whereby a clock I'd put onto each page always seemed to put the date 2 months back. The clocks are run by an SSI script that takes the date and time information from the server itself. Of course, the first thing I did was check the script, and I did notice a few problems, in the script, but even after fixing it the date is still two months behind!I decided to do some investigation on this, and tried to see if I could find out what the server time on Gamma reportedly is. I finally found it when I looked at the php Info.Gamma Server's "Server Time" clock has somehow wound up two months behind, and is now claiming it is June instead of August. This is causing a few problems with my scripts, so if you're not too busy already, can you please look into fixing this for me?

cPanel Certificate alert message Has anyone else got it?
gameratheart replied to hype's topic in Web Hosting Support
I don't have this problem when I access my C-panel... unless I use Secure Mode login. Internet Explorer blocks any security certificate it hasn't been told to trust by default, so you will always get this mesage. Firefox is smarter because it only blocks things that pose even the slightest threat - if the certificate is ok, it won't block it. But both IE and Firefox doesn't seem to trust the certificate because there is nothing to say where it came from. You can set it to trust it though... on the error message you get there should be a button for View Certificate... or something, and you can see what the certificate says and decide whether or not it can be trusted. -
Brand New Song - Soldier A GREAT SONG, LOOK AT IT HERE
gameratheart replied to BordaForx's topic in Art & Creativity
Nice song, NovaTerra. You keep making some brilliant tunes! But I've been noticing that most of your songs recently seem fixed to the topic of war. Any reason why?
