  1. I think truefusion is being ignorant here, sorry to say. While as I agree that this discussion has no real signifigance to real life, I worry about the younger people who look at this site, and also, how improffessional it makes us seem.I actually thought, when I saw these forums for the first time and noticed that category, that this was not the Xisto forums. But I checked the layout and the website URL, and I was here. And I was shocked to believe that such a professional site would do something so - (for lack of a better word) - so childish!
  2. On the forums I own, we use a score system called "Respect Points" to show how respected people are. The scale goes from minus 65535 to 65535, and starts at zero. If I had used that name for my own forums, I'd probably end up with minus 10000 respect - in fact, I'd even willingly take my own respect away! It is just so improffesional, and doesn't live up to standards at all!!!
  3. There was a story written how time is not a constant river, but has many streams. If you go back up the "river" and change your "path" (In example, you try to change what already happened), you will end up going into another stream to whatever you are in now. And everything will be VERY different in the new stream. In fact, the story told of someone who went into a car, drunk, and hit a lady. After leaving jail, he then went back in time and stopped the car at the exact moment he remembered the crash, and he changed time so badly, he ended up in a world taken over by another race, and he is forced to hide in a cave and write the story. And he cannot reverse the effect, because only his friend knew how, and in the new stream he is not there. Maybe this is just Fiction, but the truth is in the story. If you try to restore your life to a point just to change something, you don't know what it could do to the rest of your life, and the life of those around you. Thus is The Butterfly Effect.
  4. Of course, these only affect people who use Windows (which I do), and base their browsing on Internet Explorer and NetScape browsers (which I don't).Luckily (with exception of Media Players), all of the things from list 4 to list 7 are optional for your computer. So you only need to worry about these if you actually have them - and I for one do not have any of them. That is not to say that not having AntiVirus is reccomended however - in fact, you should get a Virus scanner as soon as you can! I refer to virus scanners being "optional" in the way that you have free will choosing which one to use.For lists 1 - 3, patches and fixes are available. However older versions of windows may not have these because they are no longer updated. My advice is: be careful when on the net, and don't do anything stupid.
  5. Sorry, but "bumping" is against the rules here. Only constructive posts are allowed here, spam such as that is not allowed. Also, isn't a Clan thread more appropriate on the RSB (RuneScape Forums)?
  6. Neither picture will load on my computer, but I am already familiar with both your artworks, so I'll just vote for the person who's art, as a whole, I like more:S_M:6KuBi:1Yep, Saint_Michael gets my vote again! Notice from Johnny: Voided vote. Votes should be based only on the battling sigs, not on the sig designers. Next time is a warning.
  7. Although I have not tried these myslef, I have visited websites that use them and found that they are very effective tools for such a community. What is more, both of these are available as addons using Fantastico when you get a site with Xisto.com.
  8. Yeah I got annoyed with that add too, especially because I couldn't work out what the hell it was saying. Most of the time I either turned my sound off or made sure that my mouse always stayed in the left margin of the page, where no ads appear, just to make sure I wouldn't hear it.I hate it. Sound on smileys is so stupid. Does the ad company that made it think they can get money by annoying people? Seriously.Thankfully I now use firefox. It seems the pop-up blocker on it is so good, it even blocks most banner ads, so I don't see them at all (i just see a link saying Click Here!) wherever one should be.
  9. I accidently deleted a phpBB installation without uninstalling it, using fantastico, a while back. Now it claims I have a corrupted installation and wants me to remove it. However, I can't do so because if I did I would have to remove a new forum I have in the same directory. Oh well, live and let learn.
  10. I don't know what the reason is - I guess it might be a bug with firefox - but I cannot see any of those pictures except for the linked one. All the others appear to me as the text "IPB Image". This occours dozens of times everywhere on these forums. As for the one I am still able to see, I have to say that I hate it. I just don't like pictures of girls when drawn in manga. They always look too... well, if I say the word I'd be in big trouble.Still, it is rather good...
  11. ...And this is just one of the reasons why Paypal sucks. Lol. But I'm not kidding. Paypal scams are all-too-common nowadays, with the spam emails as shown here. The problem has been made wrose recently, with Paypal falsely claiming transactions to be "not legitimate" in certain occasions. Many people have had friends use paypal and their account has been terminated, so when they recieve email saying there's something wrong with their account, they believe it.Do not, repeat, DO NOT trust PayPal!And BOAW, the link for that website is http://www.paypalsucks.com/
  12. Requesting to become a moderator always reduces your chance to become one. Most forums, like this one, ban you for it. Moderators should be appointed for trustworthyness and excellant work to the community, and only if one is necessary. They should not be appointed just because. Every single forum staff member and forum hoster will tell you that.
  13. This is the first time I've ever even looked at a SotW contest, and unfortunately I have problems that prevent me from voting:Firstly, I can only see Truefusion and Avalon's sig... I just see the words "IPB Image" where the other sigs should be, and there is no link to the pictures either.Secondly, Avalon's sig was cut off after 80% of the picture was loaded.
  14. You might have fixed it actually, Maine. From what I see, IPB was not finding a file that was continually requested to keep the board offline. The quickest way would have been to reinstall the skin (if that was possible), but your method may have worked.
  15. Actually, when I saw this word it reminded me of that racist word commonly used against black people and people of any race associated with blacks. I'm not gonna say what word I mean, seeing as it is racist and the ban filter would probably own me, but if you rearrange the letters g, n, and r correctly and add two vowels, you'll see what I mean. Also, noone I know has ever heard such a word as "niggling" before, and I live in the UK. So it does not appear to be a local word. And can we stop blaming UK first for once?
  16. But I don't get that... because ActiveX has not been stopped from executing before on this webpage... unless it was never even used before...It's possible because I have all websites I haven't marked as safe or unsafe on IE to use Medium-High security. But what of the pop-under advertisment?
  17. My site is up now, too. It came back at 0:30. For reference, my times were in GMT (EST -7) Some temporary downtime? It seemed so.
  18. To any Admin or Mod: This topic can be closed now, the problems seems to have disappeared... I got a major situation here!!! I was just viewing my site earlier, about ten minutes before midnight, checking my forums, etc. and there were no problems whatsoever. So I came here to check my credits (I had 20 when I visited), and do a few more posts. I went back to my site at 10 past midnight, only to find I can no longer view any of my pages! All my pages are giving an Error Code 500. Why is this? I have not broken any rule or ran out of credits, and there were no problems with my site previously. Can anyone explain?
  19. Guestbooks are intended as a way of people to leave their comments on your site, or just to say they have been there. But all guestbooks ever are, are just a way for people who visit your site to leave a message, just like voicemail on a phone. And if you've ever listened to voicemail, you'll know you will have some spam sometime. It's the same on guestbooks. While I have to say I do not in any matter condone spamming, it happens. Guestbooks are intended for the public to write in. What they choose to write is up to them. You may intend it for creative comments, but do you tell them that? You have to set rules. If there are no rules, then there is full freedom. A guestbook will always have spam and there is not much that can be done about it. It's the same wherever the public can go. And that's the reason I don't have a guestbook or blog. So why get annoyed? It happens everywhere. If you don't like it, don't have a guestbook! Sorry, just had to get that off my chest. But it's true - the simplest way to stop spam is to have nothing for the people to spam in. And if you do need something for commenting, use a forum - much easier to control!
  20. jlhaslip, you may need to check the link you just posted... I clicked it and all it did was open a new window with the same page.
  21. I think I get the general idea... although I must comment it is major laggy so I didn't get to see much.It seems an intresting but confusing concept, and it sounds like you need to already be registered to some sort of trading thing to be able to setup an account... but I may have misunderstood.
  22. ...And considering that most computer users wouldn't understand anything about how a Computer works or how to program them or how an OS works, that would be an absolute nightmare. Great tutorial, Albus Dumbledore!
  23. Hmm... I edited a post, and it created this post instead! Why?Must be a bug...
  24. There are scripts like these available on the web. If you want all your questions to be multiple choice, using drop-downs, then there is a script at this website called Javascript Kit that might satisfy your needs.
