  1. I've heard that Changing Content and RSS Feeds really help Search Engines. I don't really understand RSS Feeds myself, but it helps. Why people actually get away with Google Bombing is anyone's guess. But anyone who tries to abuse the system like that should be thrown in jail. lol
  2. My Spyware-and-Virus-Beating Strategy:*First, use a program that prevents installation of Spyware and Tracking Cookies in IE and Firefox, and also restricts access to questionable sites. The best (only?) one for this, I find, is SpywareBlaster, but you have to update the free version yourself *Then, use Spybot Search & Destroy. This gives two advantages: 1. Immunity from certain Adware/Spyware/Malware 2. Checks to see if any get on the computer.*Finally, use a good Virus Scanner, but be wary of it's features. I once installed a scanner called V-Eliminator (or something like that... completely sucked. Heuristics wouldn't work at all, and viewing results caused Out of Memory error, even when nothing found). The best Free one is AVG Anti Virus. Download it and you'll see why :lol:Now I just need a good Firewall to finish it off... and preferly I'd like it to continue my Non-MS*-based products.Just a hint though: DO NOT USE MORE THAN TWO SCANNING / PREVENTING SOFTWARES AT ONCE! If you do, you increase the need for resources, slowing down the PC. You also make them less effective *PS: I refuse to use incorrect abbrieviations in my posts. Including Micro$oft.Edit: Removed my sig from the post, since it made it longer than my screen size (1024*768).
  3. Brilliant site, man! Stylish, suitable, and it works like a breeze. The loading times are very fast (well as fast as you can get on dialup), and load almost instantly after the first visit. My only problem is that I've never played Call of Duty before...
  4. What would you do if computers didnt exist? Well, here's my answers: ________________________________________________________________ Would you go crazy? Don't really know... Would YOU not exist? Is Human life really THAT dependant on computers? *thinks for a millisecond* Yes... Would you be bored all day? No... Would you be board at school all day? What difference does it make EVERYONE hates school! And isn't it spelled bored? Would you be stuck playing board games and stuff all day?No... I play CARD GAMES! Would you end up working all day? Work is a swear word to the computer-literate. Would you be determined to invent computers? If I could... Would you keep a computer secret in your closet and use it when no ones looking? Erm... how? Would you just be a all around idiot? No. That's my brother. Would you drink coffee all day? Maybe... Would you sleep all day? I hate sleep... Would you kill yourself? To me it wouldn't make a difference whther I killed myself or not. Would you be a cop? No 'cos I'm not hanging around with corrupted souls. Would you be a robber? See above. Would you be a mugger? See above. Would you be a regular person? What IS regular? Would you like to exist on this earth? No, but then again, where else could I exist? Would you die of boredom? See answer to Q3. Would you invent games? Maybe... Would you invent more games? See above. Would you think about inventing computers? See answer to Q7. and many more things... What else is there to say, then? Thanks for this funny and intresting topic.
  5. I use 56.6k modems as well. I have no problems, apart from the fact that the connection gets severed every 60 to 90 minutes... but I don't mind.If you search the web, many software is available to boost internet connection speed. Just Google it.I do not know of anything that can help faulty connections, however...
  6. Why can't the US just leave Iraq and Iran alone? As we have seen so far, they pose no obvious threat to us, and have no real need of any support. I feel it best if everyone just leaves them be until we know for certain what is going to happen.
  7. ***APPENDUM*** The RuneScape Adventures United has previously been hosted at two other websites. The first one was found to have removed too many features from it's website, so was removed. The second one put ads onto the site after the first day of hosting. I didn't mind this, except that I soon found out it made some parts of my site unusable due to design faults. So now both sites are down, and a brand-new site is being worked on. There will be no link to the new site until the website is somewhat presentable. I must also point out at this point that the minimum restriction (Level 30), is intentively low, because the original intention of this clan was to open it to all players, but due to troublesome players of lower levels, this has become impossible. I would just like to say, that all of the members currently in the clan exceed Level 41 Combat. And some members have combat stats that well exceed the 60+ mark.
  8. Well guys, If we aren't sure about something, then I think the easiest way of deciding is putting a poll up and letting us all decide.
  9. Honestly, wassie? Yes.P.S: Aren't we supossed to be staying on topic?
  10. I have to agree with Psych. It's just too bright! I can hardly even see the people in the picture! It feels weird, however, to vote on a sig that looks like it's been drawn using pastels (no offence). But in my opinion Saint messed up and didn't correctly use brightness. Sorry, but my vote is for Hulunes!Hulunes: 7Saint Michael: 2
  11. That's what I thought... and my brother too. It usually is the way the systems work...Well, I don't need to see this topic anymore, but I feel you should keep it up for others to see.
  12. For some reason, I felt I should start a routine whereby I store a few credits in the Hosting Credit bank daily. But just now I tried to add two credits into my bank, and I got this message. There was nothing saying how to proceed, and coming back to Xisto, my credits didn't change. So I'm assuming that it failed. But the wierd thing is, I had exactly 10 credits when I did the transfer, so why didn't it work? The details I entered (exception of pass) exactly as they appear below: Username: NDPA Transfer to: BANK
  13. Saint Michael is completely right. Too many reality shows get copied, with the result that more stupid shows that have no real meaning to them, or just plain suck, get put on TV to replace the one's people actually LIKE!!! Also... That totally explains reality shows. They have nothing entertaining at all, and if they do, they always get copied and become boring. That's why reality shows are always nothing better than a piece of crap. And I can't put it any politer than that. STOP REALITY SHOWS! P.S. Saint_Michael, are you forgetting your grammar? If you use a word that is usually written in plural (such as "sucks") directly after another pluralised word, the word must be written in singular form. So the title of this topic should be "REALITY SHOWS SUCK" and not "REALITY SHOWS SUCKS".
  14. Do you play RuneScape (RS2)?Are you Level 30+?Are you not currently a member in another clan (excepting RuneVillage Army)?Do you live in any area upto two hours outside GMT?Do you want to level up faster?Yes? Then join RuneScape Adventurers United!RuneScape Adventurers United is a relatively new clan, specialising in non-combat skills. Our aim is to help players level up faster while maintaining the fun in the game. That is not to say we don't fight, however - in fact, it has become our custom to have two-hour Castlewars trips on both Saturday and Sunday! We follow JAGeX rules very closely, and have a strict no-tolerance policy on rule breakers. Because of this, we are able to maintain one of the strongest communities in the game. But we need YOU to help us survive! Joining the clan not only gives you the above features, but also entitles you to have your say on the next Clan Events, and helps keep us online. PLUS, if we get more than ten members, we might open up to Classic members as well!We promise to keep up all the events as we get more members, and you keep all the spoils from any event. Our goal is to get everyone to gain at least 1,000 expirience in any one skill within the week. But we can only do this with your help. You won't find our clan listed on the RuneScape Forums (due to problems with lower level players and enemies), so visit our clan site today! We promise to make you a member within 24 hours should you qualify.***LINK REMOVED - SEE APPENDUM ON POST #4***
  15. I think it's a good thing the movie gets new actors... after all, it's not like you can play the same part forever...But I don't really care if the source is real or not, because I'm not a big fan of Harry Potter movies. I'll admit that they are really cool, but the storylines are getting to same-y now, and really it would just be better if they stop before everything just ends up repeating itself (as it has already started to do).
  16. If you use persistent connections, it will not stop MySql even if you tell it to. You have to stop it being persistent. (Anyone know how?)
  17. FireFTP is a good tool for Firefox users, but it is not reccomended as it is still in Beta Testing (with an official 1.0 version still to be announced), and is VERY unreliable. I tried it recently to try to access two different FTP accounts I own, one for my site here and one somewhere else. FireFTP allowed access into the Xisto FTP Server (after the initial warning that the server may not be secure because it is licenced to gamma.xisto.com and not Xisto.com, which I know is on purpose), but did not allow access to anything. As for the other site, I was allowed to see a list of folders but could not view the contents of them, and despite the fact that it had recognised a subfolder was existant in one of the folders, was disregarding it whenever the folder it existed in was opened. In sum, DO NOT use FireFTP!!! Oh yeah, I just tried out the SmartFTP installation File and found something alarming. Even though the software makes out that it is free and that Download.com even lists it as having "No Limitations", I read the Terms and Conditions and discovered that the program is unregistered and... Free software? Yeah right! Has anyone installed this software and been able to use it despite this apparent caveat?
  18. Oh, man, if I WASN'T aware of the matter of the IPB Trial Version conflict! EVERYONE wants to host one but officially they can't.So from your viewpoint, it's a bad idea primarily because of safety issues, and no support. I must admit that I was aware of the problems in IPB 1.3, and I began to think it wasn't much of a good idea myself. Thanks a lot for helping me out again, jlhaslip. I guess there's always another way...
  19. Ok, back when Invision Board was still freeware, I downloaded a copy of Invision Board v1.3 for use on the web, but I never used it.I found out, when searching my computer earlier, that I still have the copy. And I want to know, would it be legal to use it on my website now?I searched the Invision Website for licencing terms regarding this, and also did a Google Search, and found that all Forum Software from 2.0 onwards is now illegial without a licence. (As if people didn't know that already!) However, I found nothing preventing use of IPB 1.3, and the fact that I downloaded it while it was still freeware suggests to me that it wouldn't be illegial. But I don't know for sure, so can anyone help? I really need to know this, because I plan to place the forum onto my site and I don't want to be doing it illegally and end up getting banned.Thanks!P.S. Before you say that IPB 1.3 is already in Fantastico, I have already checked this thoroughly and it is not.
  20. Well the only reason I'm still here is because I have nowhere else to go if I lose my site... the coding it requires is so valueable that I would soon have to pay MILLIONS if I did not use a dedicated host like this. And I am fed up with truefusion always contradicting everyone else's posts. It's like he thinks he's always right and everyone else is wrong. The kind of attitude that SHOULD be banned. So I am concluding by saying: * I am completely against the use of the new name for the vent. * Truefusion is obviously against the people. * I am not posting in this topic anymore, seeing how I am always contradicted, and have no care for any opinions my opinions may have caused. So don't bug me anymore! Before I go, however, I must point out that my previous post did not say "And noone sees it that way." It said "And noone else sees it that way. Obviously there are a rare few that do...
  21. When I first read this topic, I thought you were talking about Macdonalds talking about their food... like printing the nutrition info all over the menu (though they already do that on the back of the mats they put on the trays)Reading the article, however, made more sense to me. The idea of Macdonalds having an ATM that allows purchace of ringtones - or browsing the net, and so on - is a cool idea, though I don't see why Macdonalds is the one to be doing it... it just doesn't seem appropriate for a more-than-professional burger joint...
  22. Well, I've been using Advance Google Search for years, and even still this is new to me, because I had no knowledge of the "intitle" or "inurl" tags! Becuase I am concerned of Web Safety, I decided to test these tags out just a moment ago by running into google that last code: inurl:"robots.txt" filetype:txt I was amazed to find out, by doing this, that only 53,300 out of over six billion websites use robots.txt!!! This is a very helpful tutorial indeed! Makes many people aware of the abilities of google - abilities that can both help and hurt the web!
  23. It all depends on how the name is used, and what the trademark is for. For your examples, the first URL, "honda-drive-test.com", would be illegal, firstly because Honda is a registered car company, and secondly, because it makes it sound like it is a website owned by Honda. Usually it is illegial, but really it only is if the site URL can confuse a person into thinking that the site is officially owned by the owner of the trademark. That is why Microsoft recently had to sue an anonymous company, and why your second site, "why-Xisto-rocks.com", probably wouldn't be illegal.
  24. Well I CERTINATELY would have not joined the forums because of this! You forget one thing, truefusion: ALL of us ARE members of the general public!!! Well, first off, that wouldn't happen anyway. And if it did... well, I know about a thousand people who would be forced to leave for this reason only. Tyssen, your explanation is the best one so far: Because that IS the concept! The admin is breaking a rule that if any of us were to break would mean goodbye for us! If I join a forum I expect rules to be carried out by everyone. And this change means I am this close to leaving Xisto: Staying---------|Me|-Leaving Looks like you messed up big time, Xisto. Same here. And finally... You've missed the point entirely. And noone else sees it that way.
  25. To me, that is the best way to think of Xisto, and I completely agree with this statement.
