  1. See when I first read this topic title I had thought the same thing but to truly make a decent amount of money making surveys unless you put time into it to make a decent amount of money. Most surveys or offer completing sites offer anywhere from 25 cents to a $1.50 for each survey/offer completed. For each one you must clear your cookies, use a different email address, and go through a lot of pages saying no to more offers. This is time consuming but as for effort there is not that much except filling out information but the problem is you have to do a lot of them to make a decent amount of money unless you win a contest but that requires effort as well. There are credit card offers that offer a lot of money but you generally have to spend money to make money and there is no guarantee you will be credited for it. As for the actual sites that offer survey sites that look for your opinions, they do offer a bit more money but they decide when to offer you a survey based off your lifestyle and profile created on the site. So really you have no true constant income and each take 10 to 20 minutes whether you read the question or not. Running any sort of online business of course takes a lot of work as you have to first create some idea that may or may not be successful. Then you must design your site and program it adding any features that may attract more consumers. The hardest part of course then comes into play which is advertising. Most of the time your site needs to be creative and offer some sort of benefit over other similar site or be completely unique to eliminate competition. There is no guarantee you will even be successful which means you may have to restart so truly you will have to at least put in a lot of initial effort but it will greatly lessen over time if success is reached. The only thing one may have to do is update the website, take care of any complaints, and possibly add new features.
  2. I am not a specialist in animal behavior but my suggestion would be to take it to a veterinarian who might be able to diagnose whether it has some sort of behavioral problem and whether it can be of danger. Maybe if it does have a temporary period of being angry or there is something that can trigger misbehavior in the dog then the veterinarian can prescribe something that may be able to help with it. It probably is not something too serious unless it continues to bite or attack constantly. I would try and find a controlled area and see if it remains calm there to find if something may trigger this behavior.
  3. Well I do not really know if this is going to be as successful as Myspace and Facebook and the other social networks despite the funding and people behind it. I heard about Window's Live Spaces back when it was still MSN Messenger and MSN Spaces. I had signed up for it but never really paid much attention to it as I had already set up MySpace and had a profile. Microsoft probably does have the ability to create software that interacts with the Social Network and make it better but MySpace and Facebook and other networks are already filled with users that have the same capabilities. That is why many websites are already integrated with MySpace and Facebook to make them more useful. Companies and artists that use a social network probably are not going to switch over unless they gain some sort of advantage. The thing is by the time Windows Live Spaces comes out with something more beneficial, the other networks will be working on something similar if not better. They would have to try to create a feature truly creative and unique that makes them superior.
  4. OK I guess what I meant to ask then was how you promote them though. Do you just tell people to watch a cool video or place posts strategically or flood it with hits and a higher rating to attract more attention? I guess there are many ways of doing it I just wanted to know a little more on how you went about it.
  5. Only hosted members have this feature as they have been approved for hosting based off of their quality of posts and ability to stay active on the forum. This is another benefit of becoming a hosted member as then you can take advantage of the myCent features.
  6. When I first read this I wondered how this guy was going to deny communion to people who voted for Obama when we had a private ballot, then I read he just strongly suggested confession before receiving communion. I think this still may be taking things a little too far but everyone has their own opinion. I am Catholic but also OK with Obama as the new President of the United States despite his beliefs. In fact we are supposed to be open to religious toleration and toleration of others' beliefs, even if it is abortion. Therefore I do not think people should be punished for who they vote for as I am sure McCain has some policies that may not be traditional to Catholic beliefs. At least though it is only one priest and not a coalition against it.
  7. This is a very good idea especially for those who are looking for a little bit more than what is offered in the free web hosting account. I am sure it is also good for attracting new users to the forum itself as now there is about three thousand more reasons to post here. Very nice touch by counting all of our old posts as well. Great job overall on the system, I look forward to using it.
  8. This seems like a really good way of advertising websites and promoting forum activity. For advertisement on the forum itself are you going to divide it up into categories as there are many different kinds of forums and websites designated to different subjects and themes. I really like the idea of the Youtube video advertisement as well as it is a very popular site itself but I have a question about it. Do you just put up the video after you create it or do you also promote it. If you do promote them do you send a bunch of hits or actually advertise for it?
  9. I found someone post a link to this plug in for WinAmp. http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/audio/vremover.htm The problem is that none of these programs are perfect because they may also take out parts of the song. This version is at least five years old though so you might be able to find something similar that is more updated and better able to do it. I have also heard of a program you have to pay for, it is called Cool Edit but you have to pay for it.
  10. Most fast food restaurants are trying to pick up something healthy now just to say that they are doing something against the gain of weight. This also is to help be a saving grace by keeping customers that might otherwise just go somewhere else. Mc Donalds has been constantly attacked about stuff like that so they started with the fruit cup and more salads and stuff.
  11. Of course the leaked version is not going to be much different from Vista because it probably is Vista with a different name. If it is under development they are not going to have that much new yet, that is because it is in the early stages. I am still a fan of Windows XP and at the moment do not really care for Vista. I run both on my laptop but XP runs a lot faster overall. There will have to be some improvements on the speed and capabilities of Windows 7 in order for me to purchase it unless it comes with a new computer in the years to come.
  12. Here are my results. I tested at the same server a couple more times and the results varied greatly so I think I might have gotten lucky on my first time out on this test. I am happy with my internet the way it is though. No need for me to add any speed.
  13. I for some reason have not been able to watch as many movies as I hope to. For some reason something usually occurs that stops me from going or I just do not have the money. I must admit I have downloaded a couple but I am not really into it anymore unless it is an old movie I can not find at Blockbuster. My brother has the Blockbuster thing that is like Netflix and it is mailed to my house so I can have him rent one for me. There is a long list of movies I want to see but not really the time to do so.
  14. Killing cats in China is like getting rid of alligators here because over there they view cats as harmful. Maybe a gator is a bad example but people are afraid of them over here because of some sort of danger. China is not the only country to kill fish either, we kill fish all the time, maybe not in front of people but China may do this to show how fresh they are. They have to kill the animal some how before it is eaten. They eat dogs over there I believe which to them maybe customary like us eating deer or cow. Different traditions and cultures view differently upon acts of killing animals. I think since many people keep animals for pets here, to see them eaten as food somewhere else seems cruel, but to them it is an every day occurrence.
  15. I have not had any problems with my health because of my fast metabolism but I know that some day it will catch up to me. My big problem is the soft drinks as I usually drink a couple bottles or cans of mountain dew each day. There is no aspartame but I do not really know how to go about stopping as it is kind of an addiction. I mean if it isn't available I am fine with out it because I was on my trip to Europe but when I came back I went straight back to it as if I never stopped drinking it. It will probably hurt me in the future but I do not really know what to do.
  16. I agree that they should make sure to get the call right on whether they were out or safe and that general managers should be able to make the call. They want this to be the first step into implementing replays on whether a runner was safe or out or even to judge whether a pitch was a strike or a ball. I do not think that the strike zone should be put into question on replay but whether the ball was fair or foul, whether a runner was safe or out should probably be done. This will save a whole lot of arguing and save ejections of players. It also may be the change of a game. The All Star Game would have been 7 innings shorter had the replay shown Navarro getting under the tag for the American League making it a win in the standard 9 innings. I have seen many calls that favor another team, intentional or not. Managers certainly should not be able to argue every call because games would never end, I think a process like football with two chances and a possible third or an umpire call for replay would be good for baseball.
  17. I really liked this movie. It had more depth than I thought with many unexpected changes throughout the plot. It started off really funny and then as the plot continued to trying to change the personality of Hancock it remained funny but started progressing to a more superhero movie like. They set this movie up for infinite amount of sequels after they brought up the time line of the relationship between Hancock and the other superhero. Hancock can continue to be powerful but then meet up with his wife again some day with a new story line which they may try to do as they were very creative with this movie and it is not your everyday superhero movie.
  18. One part of me thinks that if it works the "humanzee" will come out just one untamed human but chimpanzees and other animals have been able to be trained and some seem to be smarter than we are in many ways. It makes one wonder if we did evolve from them. I hope they know what they are doing though because it will take some extreme care to keep the hybrid alive if it is born living in the first place. I guess I could see the use of them as organ donors if they fit but what are they going to do with them as they live through their life. Sure they will study them but what kind of environment are they going to live in as no one can truly say they know how they will act. I guess they can be trained if they have some human genes and they could be raised to be obedient but they would have to mix monkey tactics with human tactics. Studying of chimps has been done for years but not for half human half chimps which could be more different than they think. Good luck to their studies though and hopefully if successful there will be something beneficial to come out of this.
  19. I do not know if anyone have you have heard of this book or know what a Socrates Cafe but I will explain it to the best of my ability here. The author Christopher Phillips has traveled the country starting what he calls "Socrates Cafes" which are like philosophical discussions that question just about everything and anything. A simple question like "Does anyone have the right to be ignorant?" or even what seems like simple questions like "What are we?" but it leads into more and more questions that bring up so many perspectives and definitions that people see all new aspects of life. It is a never ending process following in the footsteps of Socrates who constantly asked questions to show that we all do not really know what we think we know in contrast to the Sophists of his time period who put a price on their knowledge. Socrates had challenged them and asked them questions they did not know the answer to. By starting these "cafes" Phillips is passing around his ideas and learning the ideas of thousands of others. It is quite interesting. I originally had to read this book as a summer assignment and learned a lot from it. The book is like a biography in a way that it retells stories of meetings Phillips holds and the discussions held. At one they even asked the old question of whether a glass is half empty or half full which brought out aspects I never thought of before. It could be completely full of air and water or completely empty of everything but air and water or of course half full of water or half empty of water. If anyone else has read this book or participated in a Socrates Cafe please put your thoughts here.
  20. I never knew that Google used the file names and URL to help when it indexes pages. I normally just keep my pages short as possible and try to make them just one word so that they were easier to organize and also more manageable when writing links to something. Now though I might make the names a little longer as like a three word description for the page or something that would help. I guess that explains why sites with domain masking do not work very well either as every page is of the same name.
  21. Very true, it really is whatever you find easier for you to manage and which one seems of best quality to suit your needs. I have used both or at least been moderator/administrator on both boards and have found they both do the same thing. I think I prefer Invision a little more though because of some of the features it has but truly even PHPBB works fine for me as it is free and no license is needed. In the end though it is up to you.
  22. It is quite simple just to translate sites using Google with the technology they have today. Maybe if sites just had a small link at the bottom or something with their URL to have their page translated by Google automatically then that would not be a problem or even if the administrators checking up on the site just put in the URL manually it would probably be simple. Maybe that could be a job of the moderators even to check sites once a month but people would have to say when they apply what language their site would be in. This way a list could be accumulated and those that abuse Xisto Rules and Regulations could still be dealt with.
  23. This is good to know thank you. I somehow lost my show desktop icon on my other computer so this could help out. I have come to find out now though that pressing the Windows key and the D key at the same time does the same thing so no button is necessary.
  24. That is quite the story. How in the world could that man not know that the woman did not live there? I guess he must not go into that closet very often considering she had a small mattress in there. The fact that she took showers also makes it seem unnerving that he did not become more suspicious earlier. It makes me feel a little uneasy to think that someone could be living in your house without you even knowing it if you are not careful. This is funny but odd story. I wonder where the lady will move to now.
