1. Wow! I really like this one. The videos look terrific. I haven't played any dbz game but I'm a big fan of dragonball. I wonder if this game will come for the PC. The entire site is in japanese.
2. Well, this is a new one. I've come across quite some problems with windows xp, in both mine and my friend's computers, but rarely is there something that a re-install can't fix. After reading the first half, I was inclined to suggest you do a "chkdsk /p /r" on all the partitions using the recovery console on the Windows XP bootable CD.... but since you tried changing the hard disk without any use, I don't think that's the problem. With faulty hardware, Windows XP is more likely to give you a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) than hang up in between. Have you tried to 'reset to defaults' in the BIOS setup? Sometimes, changing the shadow settings or enabling/disabling the caches will make it work strange. I had a problem with a friend's comp in which it took 3 hourse to install windows. After searching for a while, we found that the L2 cache was disabled and that was why it was taking so long. We fixed that and it worked fine. But your case seems to be the reverse. Are there any other PCI cards? Ethernet card, TV tuner card or anything which aren't inserted properly? You might check them out. Also, if you want to make sure the memory isn't corrupted, try memtest. It helped me find that one of my modules was screwed up. Hope you find this info useful .
3. Oh ok ... I lose credits more than 30 ONLY if the post that has been adjusted was worth 30 credits (before adjustment) right ? In short, I lose all the credits that the post awarded me and some more for posting plagiarised content. But does this happen only for intentionally un-quoted posts? For example, in one of my posts, I typed [/quoet] by mistake for a particular post. This was later adjusted by a mod, but do I lose credits for this one as well? I mean, not the credits for just the quoted part, but for the whole post?
4. A question ... I didn't know that you lose credits if unquoted material is made into quoted by the mods. But still, is it possible to lose 30 credits by just that? Isn't that a little too much?
5. Ok ruben, since you brought this issue up again, consider this:Let's say I haven't got hosting yet. I'm busy accumulating credits and since my credits don't decrease by a credit a day, I come over to the forum now and then and post at my own convenience. I post for, say a month, and accumulate a 100 credits. Now, these credits don't decrease at all no matter how many days I stay idle because I'm not hosted. Then, I continue like this and accumulate 400 credits (and it is quite easy to do that within a month if you post properly). That's when I decide to apply for hosting and get it and I lose 30 credits in the bargain. I'm now left with 370 credits which is more than a year. That means, I've got free hosting for a year and I don't have to post anymore for another year, after which I'll still be well within the grace period (5 days). What do you say to this? That's why the credits are reduced to 3, so that you contribute regularly and maintain your credits. Granted, this may not be the most efficient way to handle the credits issue and also for people who are unaware of the rule when applying for hosting (like yourself), but the way I see it, it's one sure fire method of making people stay active in the forums. Why don't you think of a better method for resoloving this issue? I'm sure Opaque thought quite a bit about this and implemented it, but if you have a better idea, I'm sure he'll consider it. Cheers .
6. Hey ... I use that line all the time . I've convinced a thousand people (read two-ten) already. File sharing isn't much of an issue here in India ... atleast not as far as I can see. But it's mostly used by the youth (like myself ) ... college, school kids and the lot. I don't even try to explain about file sharing to the other age groups. They are not interested ... just happy playing their solitaire .
7. Boy ... looks like speedy is devouring every photoshop tutorial he can find ."Think with a boss mind" ... hmmm... let me meditate for a while on that . Great tutorial man, keep 'em coming .
8. Yea, I come across that all the time. This is a little annoying because, sometimes, you might want to do something with a program running in the systray and you can't access it and when you try to run it from the start menu, it says "another instance runnign in the background, please kill that first and then start a new one". Is there any way to fix this other than killing the processes in the task manager?
9. Now, I like that one. It's pretty cool. I'm a die hard fan of half life. How'd you make the background? I think you caught the colors perfectly. I vote 10/10 for it . Keep up the good work.
10. i remember spending one whole evening just trying to make my Windows XP look like a Mac. I got styleXP, konfabulator (and plenty of widgets) , objectdock, objectdesktop and iTunes. I must admit, it looked refreshingly different ... but the system slowed down like hell. I had a 512MB RAM and the RAM usage (in the memory widget) was a constant 70-90% . Even opening firefox or anything started becoming a pain. And I had trouble getting used to iTunes, being a fan of Winamp. I even got a small app on the net which would enable shadows for all the windows and menus. It looked really great, but I couldn't use it for more than a couple of days. I'm the kind of person who prefers a fast system to an attractive one. I just had to scrap all the crazy apps and my system was back to normal. But, after I installed gentoo, I installed xfce4 which already has a ready made theme to make the windows and taskbar look like Mac. It's pretty good and it doesn't slow down the system. This will remain my theme for some days to come... atleast until I get bored of it .
11. I thought autoexec.bat was only used upto windows 98 and it's significance has depreciated since windows 2000. The AUTOEXEC.BAT file in my Windows XP is completely blank. Are you sure it'll work? I wonder why it's there in the first place when it's completely blank.
12. Now, this is something new that I haven't tried before. I've run into some problems in XP with files that just won't get deleted. It's usually some movie file which is taking up a whole lot of space. Sometimes, I couldn't delete the file even after rebooting the system in safe mode. It just won't go. I even tried some software that supposedly kills the app which has the stronghold on the file but it just doesn't work. The next time I run into this problem I'll give this a try. Have you tried it before?
13. Don't you think comparing dyslexic people with serial killers a bit too extreme? Actually, I kind of agree with m^e's point of view. I know lots of people who dope almost every week. It's not that difficult to get hold of drugs ... but I don't do it. Because I chose not to. The drug dealer isn't pushing it on you... you have to go, seek him out and pay him what he asks for. There are a whole lot of things in the market that thrive inspite of being harmful. For example, booze and smoking ... now, these aren't as harmful as drugs, but they still shorten your life line by a large amount. Maybe they ought to ban them as well. Seriously, anyone who really wants to dope will always do it ... there's nothing you can do to stop him/her. It's an addiction and if someone is to be blamed, IMO, it's your peer group and not the drug dealer. Now, serial killers are real psychopaths. They are the kind of people who have no sense of what is right or wrong ... they just don't realise that what they are doing is wrong. They kill just because they feel like it. Such people can never be convinced nor converted. They're like a wounded tiger running amuck in a huge city. The tiger isn't hungry, it's angry ... and it just wants to kill everything it comes across. Of course, one way of looking at this is ... No one has a right to take anybody's life, including the government. To a certain extent this can be true. There have been cases where an innocent person has been executed basing on evidence found at that time. It is a very shady situation because, one can never be 100% sure that someone has committed a murder unless there are a number of witnesses. My opinion is that, death penalty should be given only in extreme cases of homocide which are 'open and shut' and not for frivolous things such as carrying drugs around.
14. Actually m^e, I did come across that book. A friend of mine purchased that book and showed it to me. But after doing a full semester course in German Philosophy (and scoring miserably in it) about Emmanuel Kant and Wittgenstein, I was in no mood to read another philosophy book. But since you recommend it so highly, I'll try it out the next time I see it. Unfortunately, the friend who had the book passed out last semester, so I'll have to search for it somewhere else. I don't know about escher's works of having self-reference & infinitives, but I have quite a few pictures of his paintings. It's amazing how he made such paintings which are completely impossible and yet seem defy reality. These are a couple of my favorites: http://www.mcescher.com/Gallery/ital-bmp/LW268.jpg https://g''>https://g'>http://www.mcescher.com/Gallery/ital-bmp/LW268.jpg https://g http://www.mcescher.com/Gallery/recogn-bmp/LW426.jpg https://g''>https://g'>http://www.mcescher.com/Gallery/recogn-bmp/LW426.jpg https://g
15. I think I saw this page using Stumble for firefox. These pics are also circulating as emails. I must say the paintings are so amazingly life-like. And all of them have to be painted from the camera angle. The guy sure is very talented.
16. Hey hey .... that's not a bad idea. Finaldesign, do you take orders? I'll take two switches and one ladybug. Is paypal ok?
17. I have the same problem. I'm using firefox. But I clicked on make to see what happens and it's quite obvious. Just use this link: http://google.topmasala.com/ggl.asp?lo=Abhiram This will give you a page with my name on it. Just replace Abhiram with whatever you want. It's kind of fun, but personally, I don't like home pages . I prefer my browser to open up with a blank page.
18. For windows, I have to go with winamp. IMO, it's just perfect for my requirements. It's got an extensive media library to maintain my 40GB+ of songs and videos. Also, it lists the songs I played the most and the radio stations that are currently being aired. I did try iTunes, but I found the controls a bit confusing than winamp. Also, it was taking up a bit more memory than winamp. In Linux, now Amarok is the player to use. It's even better than winamp, but unfortunately, there isn't a windows version available. It has a media library and visualisations and it even downloads the lyrics and album covers of the songs you are listening to! It's miles away from the other players like xmms or bmp. The only drawback is that it doesn't have an equalizer like winamp. But other than that, it's the best .

Hi All

Hey speedy ,Nice to have you aboard. Xisto is a great place. But a word of advice ... don't spam and make long and meaningful posts. One liners are not appreciated. Also, read the rules of the board. Hope you enjoy yourself here... it's not just about the hosting, you can learn a lot of things also.Cheers.
20. It's not about because of the '/' .... apparently, for some reason, there isn't supposed to be a 'www' in the beginning.Go figure .
21. This site is hilarious. It's amazingly creative and funny. Thanks for the link . But the art site isn't working for me: Giving me a "could not determine the IP address" error.
22. Well... the reason why your credits are reset once again is because it won't be fair if you start of your hosting with 100 credits !!! That means you have your hosting and not have to post for 100 days. Once you get hosting, your credits will reduce at the rate of 1 credit per day. But if you are not hosted, they are not reduced which means, you get to keep all the credits you earn. In fact, if you don't want hosting, the credits don't make any sense. So... to make sure that you don't start off with too many credits in the beginning itself, your credits are reset to 3 irrespective of how many you may have upto that moment as soon as you get your hosting.About the 'Award Points' thingy, I don't know. I think there was something like that sometime ago, but that was before I became a member. For some reason, they (the admins) decided to do away with them.Hope this helps you out .
23. I always get my wallpapers from themexp.org. Granted that they do have spyware, but atleast they tell you about the spyware that they are installing before you install. That doesn't bother me much because I jsut use an antispyware like "spyware S&D" and it cleans up the system. The reason I prefer themexp is because they've got a huge variety of wallpapers and themes as well.
24. Disgusting .... What ever in the world prompted them to make such a crazy game?
25. Great ... always wanted to try out GTA 2. Downloading it right now . Thanks for the link.
