I really don't have much use for this sort of sites. I mean, I am in touch with all of my good friends ... I'm not really that interested in searching for classmates who were with me in the 5th standard . I chat regularly with all of my good friends even now.

Very limited site ... It's mostly for Americans and maybe a little for some European countries. India isn't included. But, while we're on the subject of meeting old school friends, I could get in touch with my friends through orkut.

Whats A Good Graphics Editor For Solaris 10 ?
abhiram replied to PureHeart's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Well, I got Photoshop 6 working in gentoo linux ... still face some hiccups, like it hanging sometimes and some toolbar problems, but I'm getting around and it beats rebooting to Windows everytime.I just installed wine and installed the setup file using 'wine setup.exe'. I've tried with 9 and 8 but they just didn't work. Anyways, 6 is fine for me. -
Vector Sigs Rate and Comment - 56k Warning :)
abhiram replied to Reaver's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Really cool sigs. Hard to rate them ... I like them all. If I'm supposed to pick one, I'd go with the last sig in the first post. For some reason, I like the color red . Btw, what is a vector sig? You use vector images in it? -
Getting a 404 not found. Is the link working? Not working for me.

Outstanding Flash Animation
abhiram replied to blix1405241486's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I've seen this already ... but at first sight, I thought the topic was about some 'Fish' animation . Yoohoo, any mods around? The title of this thread is short by a vowel. -
Help Decide Xisto Corp New Gfx Site Name
abhiram replied to Saint_Michael's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Weeeeeell... don't you think the choice is a little too limited ?But, how does this work? I mean, are the members of Xisto and Xisto members of this site by default? Or do we have to register here also? Does this have anything to do with hosting, or is it like a regular forum?I think this is a pretty good idea, coz I'm a Photoshop enthusiast myself and I've learnt quite some useful tricks here at Xisto. A site completely dedicated to graphics will be neat. Hope there are a lot of tutorials . -
Well, I could login and change my password. They gave me some random username but it's only 6 characters so no problem there. The problem is setting it up. No instructions anywhere, and they sent me an email in Dutch i think. How'd you do it? Do we just have to replace the servers with ns1.astahost.com and ns2.astahost.com?
-
Ok ... I've finally got the approval (thanks warbird ).Now, how do I set it up so that it points to abhiram.astahost.com? I want to be able to use it as a regular domain ... so that 'abhiram.be/something' will take me to that particular folder instead of redirecting. There is a bunch of stuff with type as 'SOA', 'NS', 'MX' and 'A'. Which one do I change to be able to use this domain?

They are called panoramic views and you can use apple's quicktime for it. Try googling for 'panoramic images' ... if you have a quicktime plugin installed in your system, you can see it. I remember bryce having an option to render an image in quicktime format ... but never tried it. Maybe you can check it out.

/me slaps guy around with a huge trout fish. Neither did we ... nor do we still Mr. genious. jk, you ARE a 'genious' ... and if anybody else says otherwise, you refer them to me! I'll set them right . Anyways, welcome aboard altsr ... and you better check out what guy has to say. That's good advice.... I mean about the forum and Xisto. Don't worry about the copyright thingy, he says that all the time .

Two Of My Latest Sigs ebbinger_413
abhiram replied to ebbinger_413's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Somebody tell ebbinger that his sigs are amazing or this whole forum will drown in his sigs ;)jk, i like your perfect circle sig ... for some reason, the colors seem to stand out. But, I still like your Half-life2 sig more than any of the others. That one ROCKS! Do a tut on that ... especially about how you got the background and the 'lambda square' to blend in like that. -
Nah ... I tried, but nothing worked. Anyways, I finally formatted my 8 month old slackware and got gentoo on it now. I think there are some issues with gnome and slackware anyway. That's why Paul Volkerding (the guy who maintains slackware) finally removed gnome from slack 10.2 after 3 years of thinking back and forth. No problems of that sort with gentoo right now... thanks anyway .

...ahem... Solution: 1. emerge eix2. update-eix 'emerge --search gaim' = 'eix -s gaim' 'emerge --searchdesc gaim' = 'eix -S gaim' Lightening fast if you ask me . For me, emerge --search can take upto 30 seconds on my 256 mb RAM. eix takes 2 seconds for anything. I've been using gentoo for almost a month now ... and am hooked to it. It's just amazing. I've even got Photoshop (albeit 6) to work under linux without any problems using Wine. And the package management system is just great. No more dependency problems or library problems. Updating the system is a snap. I hear ya. Mandrake was the first one I used myself. I had trouble installing some programs myself. The libraries just wouldn't compile. Of course, I was too much of a newbie back then, but it was very irritating. I jumped over to slackware which gave me more command over the system which I used for almost a year and now finally, gentoo. A friend of mine also was bouncing from distro to distro and when I suggested gentoo, he loved it. I'd like to try out BSD. But, not right now. I've read quite a bit about how gentoo's portage was adapted from BSD's ports.

E-mail Time Capsules Message yourself 20 years from now
abhiram replied to Sarah81's topic in Websites and Web Designing
hehe... that's only if you maintain your email ids for 20 years . So far I've had my yahoo account for 6 years .... but I seriously doubt I'll have it for another 20 years. Nevertheless, I'll try it out ... no harm in just entering my email id right? -
Webhost - Very Annoying Process Where is it coming from?
abhiram replied to twitch's topic in Security issues & Exploits
Not a bad idea... but you could try linux . But, have you tried an anti-spyware? Try one of these: 1. Ad-aware 2. Spybot S&D if you have a legal version of Windows, you can also try microsoft anti-spyware from microsoft It might even be a virus. Reboot your system in safe mode and see if it's still showing up. If it isn't, try scanning your entire system with your antivirus (assuming you have one) and the anti-spyware software. Try this out and let us know what happens . -
That's the whole problem... it doesn't. From what I learnt from past posts, this is what happened. A member makes a very, very long post by repeatedly posting gibberish. He gets a large number of credits for it. Then, he just edits it, removes the nonsense, and makes a small sensible post. Now, the problem in the script is that it doesn't take this into account which is why, it's quite easy to gain points using it. I think Opaque is still working on a fix for it. I read about this on some post by a mod, don't remember. If I remember correctly, it was more of a problem in Xisto than Xisto.
-
The edit button has been removed because of some problems with the credits script. The edit button was being used to gain a huge amount of credits without making a proper post and so, was removed by Opaque. If you need to make a correction, just post a follow-up and ask for the message to be merged by the mods. They'll do it as soon as they come across your post.
-
Definitely. You need to be a little more open-minded.

What?!! A new account? With your old name again? Boy, you change your mind too often . College is a pain for sure. Hope you can find the time to post here regularly .
